Abstract:
The search for possible solutions and tools to fight domestic violence always ends up with searching for the causes of this negative phenomenon. To answer what causes domestic violence turns out to be a challenging issue. Knowing the causes of domestic violence could be the key to the elimination of domestic violence from our society. Aetiology is a partial component of criminology that focuses on the discovery and investigation of the causes of criminal behaviour in individuals. Knowing the causes of crime as such is in itself a very demanding process. The cause creates a causal relationship between the phenomena which are unchangeable. The causes of violent behaviour in domestic violence have never been accurately and unequivocally proven. For this reason, it is more appropriate to identify and investigate criminogenic factors of criminal behaviour. These are factors, which in themselves, or in a combination of them, support, enable, incite, facilitate the emergence or development of criminal behaviour. The determination of the exact causes of domestic violence is very difficult, nearly impossible, so the factors that can indicate violent behaviour in a family are the most important to analyse and deal with.

Abstract This article addresses the issue of protection against domestic violence in both Jordanian law and international conventions. It does so by defining domestic violence and its various causes and by exploring the relevant global standards and best international practices for combating it. The article also deals with the reality of protection against domestic violence in Jordan by referring to the special protection of the family and to the related follow-up by national and governmental institutions, and the relevant national standards. The Law Regarding Protection from Domestic Violence (Law No. 6/2008) contains protective provisions and other treatments to reduce this phenomenon, but it fails to provide optimal protection against domestic violence. The article proposes a set of recommendations to improve national standards for protection against domestic violence so that Jordan’s laws concerning protection against domestic violence conform to international standards.

Domestic violence is a global phenomenon impacting countless lives. However, most research on the topic is anchored in the Global North. Using South Asia as a case study, we encourage further development of intersectional, comparative research. Such work brings us closer to understanding shared and divergent causes, patterns, and impacts of domestic violence within and across societies. The tendency to treat South Asia monolithically erases nuanced understandings of domestic violence and reduces South Asian women to victims. Our context-specific explorations highlight how marriage, religion and global processes reveal theoretically meaningful variations in women’s experiences of domestic violence.

Abstract:
Based on the National Commission for the Protection of the Rights of Women and Children of Indonesia’s annual report, in 2020 there were 11,105 cases of domestic violence reported. Those domestic violence cases were caused by complex factors. One of the causes is the limitation of religious freedom in the family. In Indonesia, between 2010 and 2019, there were several cases of domestic violence caused by women choosing different religions from their parents or husband. Domestic violence involving limitation of the rights of religious freedom is sometimes resolved by divorcing or by completing it with coercive efforts. The rights of religious freedom in Indonesia, although protected by the Constitution and by the Act of Protection of Human Rights No. 39 of 1999, still face various challenges in implementation. The choice of religion in some families is highly influenced and determined by the authority in the family. This article analyzes the secondary data from online news, verdicts, and statistics from the Supreme Court Directory between 2010 and 2019. Findings are analyzed using the perspective of gender studies and anthropology of law.

Abstract:
The article is about exploring the historical background to countering and preventing domestic violence. It is established that the legal phenomenon under study has two components: an analysis of the causes of domestic violence and determining the location of each of the subjects covered by these relationships. It is concluded that, given the number of scientific works, the subject of which were separate elements of the mechanism of prevention and counteraction to domestic violence, it is more expedient to study this phenomenon through the prism of establishing the historical preconditions for its occurrence. Today, it is crucial to study the genesis of domestic violence by researching scientific, historical, and religious sources, legislation in contemporary Ukraine, analyzing current legislation, comparing the domestic and western history of the problem of domestic violence to further determine the factors and ways to overcome it. The purpose of the article is to investigate the historical aspects of domestic violence as a complex and historically stable phenomenon. The problem of domestic violence and prevention has been discussed for a long time, especially since the adoption of the Law of Ukraine «On Prevention of Domestic Violence» of November 15, 2001 No2789-III, however, scientists and practitioners have come to the conclusion that the existing legislative norms did not perform their functions properly , and in order to comply with international standards, today this topic is again actively discussed in society and for good reason because according to statistics released during the voting for the Law, over 3 million children in Ukraine annually observe acts of violence in the country. themselves or their forced participants, and nearly 70% of women are subjected to various forms of abuse and humiliation. And here it is important to understand that the legislator must not just implement international standards, and wait for change. The main task of the state - to realize each of their sections in reality, while achieving the goals of the law, namely: to create an effective system aimed at ensuring the prevention of criminal acts against violence, preventing them, stopping and punishing them for such actions, creating an effective system of crime investigation, ensuring the effectiveness of remedies for every domestic violence victim. Abstract:
Domestic violence is always discussed in relation to women. Man is always considered as the perpetrator. However, because of the socioeconomic changes affecting the family structure in recent times, domestic violence is not limited to women only. Men also are abused verbally, physically, emotionally, psychologically, and sexually. Men do not report these abusive behaviors and are silent victims of the consequences. As the laws in our society favors women as victims of violence, these hapless men do not get justice for their pitiable condition in the family and society. This article attempts to explore the extent of this problem and highlights its causes and effects. There is a need for gender neutral laws for domestic violence. Domestic violence should be considered as spousal violence.

Domestic violence is a disease in people's lives and is the responsibility of the government to handle it. The PKDRT Law was issued to deal with domestic violence issues, but in reality the PKDRT Law has not been able to resolve this problem completely. What is the cause of domestic violence in the community is apparently caused by the character of the community and this character is strongly influenced by the perception of husband and wife about the rights and obligations of husband and wife in navigating the household. The cause of domestic violence is more because they feel each party feels they have rights that must be fulfilled by the other party, while the other party may feel it is not their obligation. This happens because in understanding rights and obligations there is diversity so that it causes disagreement that can lead to disputes and violence. Religion is a guide to human life, about the rights and obligations of husband and wife already have concepts in fiqh

The paper analyzes the social and legal aspects of the problem of domestic violence against women in Russia. The United Nations defines violence against women as “any act of gender-based violence that causes or is likely to cause physical, sexual or psy-chological harm or suffering to women, including threats of such acts, coercion or arbitrary depriva-tion of liberty, whether in public or private life”. The victim characteristics of women and their social vul-nerability are analyzed. Negative stereotypes about violence against women in the family are empha-sized. The main differences between violence against strangers and domestic violence are re-vealed. A set of measures has been developed to solve the problem of domestic violence.

Abstract:
The article is devoted to the problem of domestic violence and its latency in the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan. As a result of the analysis of the conducted sociological research the authors revealed the reasons why the victims of domestic violence are afraid to apply to the law enforcement authorities and proposed measures for obtaining true infor-mation about the real extent of domestic violence. Violence is a serious problem in society as it has very dangerous consequences, both for the physical and psychological state of the victims. Recently, there has been an increase in domestic violence. The victims of domestic violence are women, children, the elderly and the disabled, the most defenceless categories of citizens. In order to study problems of domestic violence and to identify its causes and extent of its latency a sociological survey was carried out in September 2020 which involved 642 people from 3 regions of the Republic of Kazakhstan (Zhambyl, Turkestan, Almaty) and 3 cities of national importance (Nur-Sultan, Alma-Ata, Shymkent). Of those surveyed, 84 per cent were female and 16 per cent male. The survey revealed the extent of domestic violence. According to the findings of the survey, 85 per cent of the population surveyed reported domestic violence. More than a half identified physical violence as the main form of violence, 40% identified moral and psycho-logical violence, and 10% identified economic violence in families. Reasons for the latency of violence include the well-established mentality in Kazakhstan, which dictates its own rules of behaviour, the rules of morality and ethics that prevail in society, and the persistence of patriarchal attitudes in the family. Another objective of the survey was to determine what measures people thought would be more effective in preventing domestic violence. Most respondents noted a need for toughening of legislation on domestic violence, introducing a separate crime in criminal legislation (51.9%), holding preventive talks in families (40.7%), establishing crisis centres and shelters for victims of domestic violence (33.3%). In general, it is noted that in order to obtain true information about the real extent of domestic violence and to reduce its latency, all measures should be divided into three main directions, depending on the type of latency to be affected. The first is to minimise the latency of all crime. Secondly, measures should be taken to reduce natural latency. Thirdly, measures should be taken to reduce man-made crime. Citizens' trust and cooperation with law enforce-ment agencies should be increased. On this basis, further study and research is required to provide the rationale and evidence for identifying the latency of violent offences.

Abstract:
The neglect of seniors is new and more current problem in society nowadays. Originally. Domestic violence in criminological sources was limited just on violence against women, later child victims was emerged. Quite late relating to documents adopted by European Union (Opinion of the European Economic and Social Committee on ‘Elder abuse’ in 2008) the problem of domestic violence has extended on seniors as another category of possible victims. The submitted report addresses the current and new phenomenon which requires consistent criminological behaviour as the basis for possible solutions in the legal order. Neglect of seniors, as new social phenomenon, requires rigorous examination in the light of the area of this term, as well as causes for which it occurs. The originators of this negative social phenomenon are considered to be not only children and grandchildren, but in some cases also subject (institutions) which are obliged to provide care for seniors on a contractual basis or ex lege. The forms of neglect are based on general knowledge about domestic violence and are not beyond the framework of this phenomenon. Otherwise it is for the causes which are ground for violent behaviour of seniors because of necessity to be found in originators of violent forms of behaviour. Such causes include economic (financial, property) reason, as well as overworking, stress, lack of time on the side of the aggressors covering the lack of interest to care of the senior. The consequences of this violent behavior are very serious in the case of seniors because of the physical, psychological and financial possibilities of seniors often do not allow them to help and care any other way. The neglect of seniors is consistently showing very high latency. Only its versatile examination (criminological, legal and in terms of victims) can lead to effective control of this kind of crime. As a new social phenomenon, it is only very rarely determined in available sources, which is the reason why there is only a minimal amount of knowledge about the neglect of seniors. This negative phenomenon is needed to be thoroughly explored, which is the basis for its solution.

Abstract:
Domestic violence represents a serious social problem being considered a form of torture because of its characteristics. Lived as a reality, it causes traumas, lived in the imaginary, it breakdowns the human being, making it incapable of the performances of a normal life, integrated in the society. The consequences appear not only on an individual level, but also socially through the shattering of relationships and the erosion of solidarity and social cohesion. So we can say that domestic violence is a pressing problem that requires solutions without delay and special attention from both society and the state. It is widespread throughout the country and has a negative impact on the health of all women who are beaten by their partners. We cannot but overlook the fact that violence leads to increased mortality, as well as homicides or even suicides. So, domestic violence is a very alarming phenomenon that demands to be solved quickly and effectively.

Abstract:
Legal protection of victims of domestic violence in Republika Srpska is analyzed in this work. With regard to the above, the author highlights that in Republika Srpska there are two forms of legal protection from domestic violence they fall within the remit of criminal law and misdemeanor law. Introduction of such protection model was intended for the protection of victims from this form of violent behavior, which is, by its characteristics a specific form of criminal behavior and as such demands special measures of lawful reaction by the state. Protection of victims of domestic violence falling within the remit of criminal law, which is very important since it attaches the same gravity to this and the other forms of criminality giving it a certain degree of criminal-political weight, has not produced expected results. For that reason was adopted a special Law on Protection from Domestic Violence defining the notion of domestic violence, persons considered to be a family members, methods of their protection, as well as the kind and purpose of misdemeanor law related norms with emphasizing the fact that all the proceedings initiated under this law are of an urgent nature. The main driving force leading to the adoption of this Law is to obtain a complete and systematic regulation of domestic violence to enable faster, more efficient and durable protection of the endangered persons. The most important thing about this Law on Protection from Domestic Violence is introduction of protective measures, which could be sentenced against the perpetrator and which, in fact, allow for the protection of victims to family violence. Method of its concrete implementation regulated is by the relevant by-laws. Adoption of law sanctioning domestic violence, either as a criminal act or as a misdemeanor, together with the adoption of by-laws for the implementation of particular protective measures, represent a step forward in combat and prevention of domestic violence. However, the author emphasizes that, despite such normative solutions, we still cannot talk about some important results achieved in the area of combat and prevention of domestic violence. Therefore, a wide-scope action was initiated on the territory of Republika Srpska in the direction not only of combating of family violence, but also finding and eradication of reasons and causes of negative social manifestation. The final goal of this activity is protection of victims, prevention of violence and preservation of a healthy family as a basis of society.

Abstract:
Domestic violence is one of the most common forms of human rights violations. Illegal actions against a family member are in most cases accompanied by acts of aggression, humiliation and abuse. Such actions by the abuser lead to a negative physical, mental and social health of the victim or several members of the family. As a rule, women, children and the elderly suffer the most from domestic violence.
The state is the main actor in combating violence, and public authorities should help to create the environment of non-violence by taking the necessary measures and creating the system of protection of victims, punishment of perpetrators and prevention of violence.
Despite the existing regulatory provision in the field of combating and protecting the rights and interests of victims of domestic violence, as well as a wide range of scientific papers focused on various aspects in this area, the problem of domestic violence remains relevant and needs theoretical clarification and justification.
The purpose of the article is to determine the causes of the origin of domestic violence against the elderly, to analyze the forms for the commission of violence against persons of this category, to focus on the wide scale of this issue, preventive measures and the need to create an information base (statistics) of victims. The introduction of an information database (statistics accounting) of victims suffered from domestic violence will ensure unimpeded access for employees of the National Police, territorial centers of social services and medical institutions to information about the victims. Inquiries and reports will make it possible to quickly and efficiently update the information and keep differentiated statistical records of such persons.

Two decades after the 9/11 attacks, homegrown jihadist violence (HJV) in the West has almost disappeared, but the causes and conditions fomenting the phenomenon have not changed much. In this paper, I argue that, despite the security services’ ability to physically destroy the structures and networks of HJV in separate national contexts, the spectre of HJV is haunting theWest as a transnational problem. Dealing effectively with this problem requires a comprehensive understanding of the root causes of HJV and its cross-level and transnational origins. This paper examines such causes through the lens of International Relations’ levels of analysis, which allows us to categorize and explain those causes at individual, group, and international levels. The paper seeks to add new insight to the HJV literature and, at the same time, provide a pre-theoretical basis for a broader debate on the causes of this global security problem.

Abstract:
Domestic violence has been under public scrutiny for some time both internationally and in Estonia. A highly negative social phenomenon, it causes considerable harm to individuals` basic rights and thereby poses an acute legal problem. Accordingly, the objective with the article is to address the attitudes of Estonia’s practising legal experts towards domestic violence from the perspective of recognising it and to support the idea of exploring options for further systematising the relevant legislation. World judicial practice uses two fundamental types of regulation to address domestic violence: reconciling and punitive. According to a survey carried out among Estonia’s practising lawyers in 2014, legal professionals may favour either kind of regulation. The authors of the article hold the view that Estonia needs fairly separate regulation for preventing and combating domestic violence yet regulation that is integrated well into the system at large. Obviously, laws cannot solve all problems related to domestic violence on their own; however, the potential of laws should not be underestimated.

Objective: To study the association between tobacco use and domestic violence in Thai families.
Methods: The study was designed as a matched case-control study in women aged 15 years and over, living in households across the country, both in urban and rural areas, in 9 provinces of Thailand. The total of 600 participants were included in this study which half of them are from domestic abused families while the other half are from nonabused families. The criteria of age, education, economic status, housing area and region were determined. Differences between groups were performed using chi-square test and t test.
Results: Domestic violence families (55.7%) used tobacco as compared to 42% of families without violence who hadn’t used tobacco. The tobacco used families were significantly having more domestic violence 1.63 times (95% CI 1.17 - 2.29) than non-tobacco used families.
Conclusions: This study showed that tobacco used in the families were more likely to have domestic violence than non-used families. This could raise awareness on tobacco used to create campaigns to reduce the rate of tobacco used which causes domestic violence.

This article investigates the phenomenon of domestic and sexual violence against adult women using digital communications technologies. The article explores terminological and conceptual challenges and describes the empirical research literature in this field to date in relation to digital dating abuse, intimate partner cyberstalking, technology-facilitated sexual assault, image-based sexual abuse, and online sexual harassment. The article also discusses policy and practice responses to this growing problem, as well as future directions for research. We argue that research and practice need to be guided by existing conceptual frameworks that utilize gender and actor–network theory to understanding the causes and consequences of women’s experiences of abuse and violence facilitated by digital technologies.
