Abstract:
The Heart of glass-Cerebral Cavernous Malformation (Heg-CCM) pathway is essential for heart development in zebrafish and mouse. In zebrafish, mutants for the Heg-CCM genes ccm1, ccm2, and heg exhibit an extreme dilation of the heart chambers and inflow tract and completely lack blood circulation. The mechanisms by which this pathway regulates heart development are incompletely understood. Two major impediments to our knowledge are the paucity of genes known to participate in the Heg-CCM pathway and a lack of information about how the Heg-CCM pathway interacts with other signaling pathways i

The reprogrammable nature of configurable computing machines has led to a wealth of research in run-time reconfigurable systems and applications. A limitation often encountered in this research is the slow configuration time with respect to the system clock speed. One technique to deal with these configuration delays has been to develop devices that can hold multiple rapidly interchangeable configurations. This technique is known as context-switching.

This thesis discusses the development of a framework to support applications which execute on a run-time reconfigurable system con

Glass has sophisticated front properties and are used as facades in high buildings. During cold periods, these glass facades could cause thermal discomfort, due to cold downdraught. Cold downdraught can be countered by placing heaters under glass surfaces. Nowadays technology offers highly insulating windows, which is why there is an interest to investigate the indoor climate with only underfloor heating. The research in this area is limited, and few empirical methods are available. Theoretical analysis has begun but it still brand new. The aim of this investigation was to present the thermal

Written exams, which are intended to examine students on the course goals, can sometimes be passed without any conceptual knowledge by memorizing procedures or facts. Because future courses depend on the students’ understanding of concepts in the required courses, not knowing the concepts could be a major issue for the student, for the teacher and for the program board. Here, we focus on developing conceptual multiple-choice questions and the algorithms for understanding the answers to the questions. The goal is to be able to answer questions such as “For how long do the students remember the

Modeling and analysis of basic DC-DC converters is essential for enabling power-electronic solutions for the future energy systems and applications. Average-value modeling (AVM) provides a time-efficient tool for studying power electronic systems, including DC/DC converters. Many AVM techniques including the analytical and numerical state-space averaging and circuit averaging have been developed over the years and available in the literature. Average-value modeling of ideal PWM converters neglects parasitics (losses) to simplify the derivations and modeling procedures, and the resulting models
