O presente trabalho insere-se nas discussões acerca da juventude e mundo do trabalho na atual sociedade capitalista, concentrando-se especificamente sobre as implicações da Lei 10.097/2000, a Lei da Aprendizagem sobre a formação profissional de jovens aprendizes. Realizou-se uma análise do trabalho do adolescente aprendiz participante dos programas de aprendizagem, regidos pela referida Lei, lançando mão das categorias analíticas de Marx sobre o trabalho, apresentadas na sua obra O Capital. Para isso, foi realizado um estudo de casos em duas empresas públicas de Santa Catarina, a CELESC e o Banco do Brasil, investigando-se os seus Programas de Aprendizagem desenvolvidos em parceria com o Centro de Integração Empresa Escola - CIEE. Constatou-se que os Programas de Aprendizagem configuram-se em uma formação profissional restrita de caráter pragmático, utilitarista, voltada para o treinamento de trabalhadores para execução de tarefas simples e rotineiras. Observou-se que o trabalho precoce é imposto aos adolescentes pela sua condição sócio-econômica desvantajosa, pois as "motivações" que os impulsionam ao trabalho giram em torno do atendimento das necessidades básicas de sobrevivência e complementação da renda familiar. Destaca-se ainda que a inserção profissional precoce resulta em abandono dos estudos. As trajetórias profissionais dos ex-aprendizes demonstram que o Programa contribui para a permanência no mundo do trabalho para uma parcela dos jovens pesquisados. No entanto, não é possível identificar ascensão profissional pós-programa, considerando que as ocupações dos jovens trabalhadores não diferem muito das suas ocupações enquanto aprendiz. Por fim, destacam-se as contradições encontradas, os limites dos Programas de Aprendizagem e das Políticas Públicas compensatórias, considerando-se as possibilidades de uma formação profissional ampla do trabalhador

Esta tese analisa trajetórias universitárias de jovens das camadas populares, a partir da compreensão das estratégias adotadas no processo de formação no Ensino Superior. Partiu-se da hipótese de que os estudantes não ocupam a mesma posição na Universidade, no sentido de que há diferenças na composição de capitais que cada um detém (sobretudo, o econômico), o que impactaria sua graduação. Na sociologia da educação, a noção de posição é mobilizada por Pierre Bourdieu, importante referencial teórico adotado, que explicita justamente o fato de existir um lugar, a partir do qual, os estudantes, as faculdades e as instituições de ensino são hierarquizados e distinguidos no meio social. Metodologicamente, realizou-se pesquisa de campo, sob a perspectiva comparativa, nos cinco cursos de graduação mais concorridos e nos cinco cursos menos concorridos da Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, mediante a aplicação de questionários com os formandos do ano de 2014 (150 estudantes). Na sequência, realizaram-se entrevistas semi-estruturadas com os estudantes provenientes das classes populares. A análise da amostra inicial composta pelas dez turmas foi feita em quatro estágios: (1) descrição individual de cada curso; (2) comparação entre cursos mais concorridos e menos concorridos; (3) apreciação conjunta dos dados relativos às dez turmas; (4) discussão dos dados dos alunos das camadas populares de todos os cursos. Na etapa de entrevista, após a caracterização geral dos alunos, examinou-se detalhadamente o seu percurso no Ensino Superior. Em síntese, apurou-se que os alunos das classes populares tendem a se concentrar nos cursos de graduação menos prestigiosos e menos rentáveis; ao passo que, nos cursos de alta seletividade e maior status, ainda são exceções. Eles demonstram consciência, embora frágil, da competição por melhores posições na hierarquia universitária, com vistas à entrada futura no mercado de trabalho na área de titulação. Entendem que ampliaram os capitais cultural e social, os campos de atuação profissional futura e sua possibilidade de retorno financeiro; porém, sentem-se menos habilitados à realização profissional que os colegas de estratos mais favorecidos. Verificou-se um tipo particular de presença das famílias durante os estudos, principalmente, em termos de apoio afetivo e custeio das necessidades básicas, com a ressalva de que se trata da porção menos desprivilegiada das classes populares. Há uma responsabilização, em alto grau, por parte dos alunos, pelo seu destino escolar, o que demanda elevado investimento pessoal e autodeterminação. Os estudantes experienciam o multipertencimento social entre o meio de origem e o campo universitário e se deparam com a oportunidade do desenraizamento . Contudo, também desenvolvem um sentido da sua posição, já que reconhecem parcialmente os limites que a sua origem popular impõe à rentabilização do diploma. Daí se dizer que as cartas são jogadas muito cedo (BOURDIEU), pois as estratégias de escolarização que focalizam as disposições de um indivíduo para o futuro dependem não só da classe social e de sua posição nela, como também do sentido da trajetória coletiva de seu grupo e do sentido nela inscrito da sua própria trajetória particular. Se as classes populares não saem da Universidade nas mesmas posições que as demais é porque a igualdade de oportunidades , conforme prescreve a meritocracia, não é sinônimo da igualdade de posições , visto que são as posições que determinam as oportunidades.
This thesis analyzes university trajectories of young people fromworking classes, based on the understanding of the adoptedstrategies in university education. The initial hypothesis is thatstudents do not occupy the same "position" at the University, inthe sense that there are differences in the capital composition ofeach (especially economic), which would impact their graduation.In the sociology of education, the notion of "position" is mobilizedby Pierre Bourdieu, important theoretical referential adopted,which precisely explains there is a ranking of students, collegesand educational institutions in the social environment.Methodologically, a field research was done, in a comparativeperspective, with the five most competitive graduation coursesand the five least-attended courses at the Universidade Federalde Santa Catarina, by applying questionnaires to graduates of theyear 2014 (150 students). After, the students from workingclasses were interviewed. The analysis of the initial sample withthe ten classes was made in four stages: (1) individual descriptionof each course; (2) comparison between the most competitiveand least competitive courses; (3) joint assessment of data on theten classes; (4) students working classes' data discussion of allcourses. In the interview stage, after the general characterizationof the students, it was examined in detail his journey in highereducation. In short, it was found that students of lower classestend to focus on undergraduate courses less prestigious and lessprofitable; whereas, in high selectivity and higher status courses,are still exceptions. They demonstrate consciousness, thoughfragile, competition for better positions in the university hierarchy,with a view to future entry into the labor market. They understandthat expanded the cultural and social capital, the fields of futureprofessional activities and its possibility of financial return;however, they feel less empowered to professional achievementthat colleagues of more advantaged classes. There was aparticular kind of presence of the families during the studies,especially in terms of emotional support and cost of basic needs,with the proviso that it is the less underprivileged portion of theworking classes. The students feel responsible for their schooldestination, which demand high personal investment and selfdetermination.Students experience the social multiple belongingbetween the home environment and the university campus and are faced with the opportunity of "uprooting". However, the students also develop a sense of their position, as partially recognize the limits to its popular origin imposes on the profitability of the diploma. That is why: "the cards are played too early" (Bourdieu), because education strategies that focus on the provisions of an individual for the future depend not only on social class and their position in it, but also the sense of collective journey of their group and the direction it entered its own particular path. If the popular classes do not leave the University in the same positions than the others it is because the "equal opportunities", as prescribed meritocracy, is not synonymous for "equal positions", as are the positions that determine the opportunities.

Full textThe transcendence of Music in Peru goes beyond the aesthetic value provided by its regional origin. Its importance relies in its capacity to serve as a conduit for national identity and a generator of economic growth. In this context, experimentation and diffusion of music are two aspects that must be broached with special attention given the intricate reality of the music industry in our country. The “Contemporary Music Center for Experimentation and Broadcasting” is a strategically located venue for the development and appreciation of music which offers rich landscapes and amenities as it is located across from “El Campo de Marte” and “Centro Cultural Sérvulo Gutiérrez” in the city of Jesus María, Lima. Hence, this architectural project provides both the community and the national reserve park with services. The investigation includes theoretical framework, referential projects, user, site analysis, design parameters and an architectural brief to present a well-substantiated programmatic and architectural initiative which goal is to enhance the artistic and cultural experience for the community.

A presente dissertação de mestrado estuda a possibilidade de novas experiências políticas ao nível da burocracia do Estado. Desenvolve um "estudo de caso" a partir da experiência da Prefeitura Municipal de Porto Alegre, denominada "Orçamento Participativo", em que a estrutura da burocracia municipal cedeu espaço para a realização de uma experiência política, cujo desenvolvimento se manifesta através de um processo de preparação das leis plurianuais, orçamentos anuais e sua tradução no plano de investimentos. Trata-se de um processo de planejamento no qual o governo local compartilha das decisões de sua competência com as associações comunitárias, especialmente com um conselho formado por membros eleitos nas assembléias públicas realizadas em 16 regiões administrativas, nas quais foi dividida a cidade, e em 5 Plenárias Temáticas. A revisão da literatura enfoca 3 premissas básicas sob as quais descansa o conteúdo da dissertação. A primeira, contida no Capítulo I, preocupa-se em compreender a organização burocrática, uma vez que é com base nesse "tipo" que se estrutura a Administraçao Pública. A segunda premissa preocupa-se com o Orçamento Público. Para tal, o Capítulo II promove sua característica evolutiva comentando seus aspectos político, econômico, administrativo e técnico. O capítulo III cuida com exclusividade do aspecto jurídico, informando os princípios e normas da matéria. Por fim, destacamos a experiência de participação popular na elaboração do Orçamento Público, acentuando sua possibilidade de realização face à utilização da burocracia que, cedendo espaços, permitiu uma nova engenharia política de recepção das prioridades da comunidade: o Orçamento Participativo. Sua descrição compreende: a) histórico e conceitos operacionais; b) demonstração esquemática da estrutura, calendário e processo; c) reuniões e critérios de atendimento das demandas. É o que se abstrai dos Capítulos IV e V. Como conclusão, o autor sustenta que a experiência do Orçamento Participativo: (I ) É fruto de uma decisão política que soube utilizar-se da burocracia; (II) tem legitimidade e não fere os princípios, normas e regras do Direito; (III) é um modelo de planejamento que envolve o Governo e a comunidade organizada.

Full textThis dissertation details original work focused on the DNA adduct N2-(1-carboxyethyl)-2'-deoxyguanosine (CEdG). This DNA adduct results from the spontaneous reaction of DNA with the endogenous and exogenous formed, carbohydrate-derived, reactive carbonyl species, methylglyoxal. Using in vitro steady state kinetics, we have shown that CEdG in template DNA leads to DNA miscoding effects when the model replicative polymerase, exonuclease-free Klenow fragment (KF-) is used. The development, validation and application of a novel stable isotope dilution, triple quadrupole mass spectrometric method for the quantitation of CEdG is also detailed. This method was used to quantitate CEdG in urine from diabetic rats, urine from human patients, human tumor and adjacent biopsy tissue, diabetic animal tissue and DNA treated with methylglyoxal. Finally, we detail the adaptation, validation and application of a novel, commercially-available microfluidic HPLC-chip for increased sensitivity in the quantitation of CEdG and also apply it to the quantitation of the RNA analogue, CEG. Combined, these studies establish CEdG as a potential biomarker for glycation and point to a viable avenue for connecting chronic glycolytic flux with genetic instability.

Full textThe guiding aspect of this paper starts from the dialogue between Theology and Psychology on the semantics of death, the psychological processes emerging from mourning – mainly in the violent loss of a child – and how the faith in the Resurrection can assist in becoming resilient in this time of grief and loss. The survey places emphasis on the concept of death and resurrection in Theology, taking, as its starting point, the death of Christ and its meaning for the Christian, the human finitude, and Christian hope in the resurrection and eternal life. The study is based on the reflection of theologians and psychologists addressing the topic in question. A field survey with twenty mothers in mourning was held, the analysis of which shows significant aspects for an interdisciplinary activity, demonstrating the relevance of the theme in offering contribution for Theology in its pastoral action, and as science, which seeks to understand the mystery of human life in all its dimensions and stages: from beginning to end of life.
A questão norteadora desta pesquisa parte do diálogo entre a Teologia e a Psicologia sobre a semântica da morte, os processos psicológicos que emergem no luto, principalmente, na perda violenta de um filho e como a fé na ressurreição pode auxiliar na resiliência no momento de sofrimento e perda. A pesquisa dá ênfase ao conceito de morte e ressurreição para a Teologia, tendo como ponto de partida a morte de Cristo, seu significado para o cristão, a finitude humana e a esperança cristã na ressurreição e na vida eterna. O estudo proposto baseia-se na reflexão de teólogos e psicólogos que abordam o tema em questão. Uma pesquisa de campo com vinte mães enlutadas foi realizada, cuja análise mostra aspectos significativos para uma atuação interdisciplinar, evidenciando a relevância do tema pela contribuição que poderá trazer para a Teologia como atuação pastoral e como ciência que busca compreender o mistério da vida humana em todas as suas dimensões e etapas: do amanhecer ao entardecer da vida.

Full textThe advent of the communication technologies engendered two conceptions of the artistic message receivers: either they’re potential victims of the contents of these messages, or they are pirates loan to plunder the artist. The right to receive is a contingent element when the artistic freedom knew a particular valuation by the ECHR. The study of the artistic freedom through the prism of the receiver has, first and foremost, for purpose to break with an all-embracing conception of the public by putting in context the artistic exchange. This thesis tries to accentuate the polymorphic character of the reception modalities and the variability of its impact. This reflection tries to distinguish the public, publics and the individual receiver according to messages which propose or which are imperative. A wide place is then granted to the freedom of choice to develop an individuality of the reception in the respect for the pluralism. This study doesn’t assert the ascendancy of the right to receive, the omnipotence of the receivers and the alienation of the artist. The right to receive also defines itself by its confrontation to the NICT and to the currents rights. This thesis approaches the question of the conciliation of the right to receive with the copyright, freedom of creation and communication and rights of the intermediaries of broadcasting. Besides, the specificity of the artistic message allows widening the reflection on the right to the reception by the convergences with cultural rights, the right to diversity and the right to education. This thesis, through the development of the rights and duties of the receivers, proposes a conception of the just balance between the rights of the various actors of the artistic freedom

Full textPrivate international law pursues two general goals : one tends to develop the coherence and the fluidity of international legal order despite the phenomenon of the frontier ; and the other tends to insure the cohesion and the essential values of the inner legal order. These essential values naturally nourish rights guaranteed by ECHR, thus creating an imbalance risk in the subject, where only one of its goal ends out to be strengthened. The discontinuity of legal orders is though not to be feared. ECHR exerts an influence which exceeds the protection alone of the forum. It contributes to the strengthening of the international order. It reduces the chances of deficiencies and accumulations by prohibing denials of justice and by helping to the determination of the judge who has international jurisdiction. Furthermore, it responds to clumsy situations since the defect of recognition of foreign crystallized situations constitutes an interference in the rights it advocates. Consequently, the tension between the inner and the international goals of private international law will not systematically be solved to the advantage of the first. Hierarchy yields to conciliation. Now, the latter acts according to features of the subject. In this sense, the goal of protection leads to an adjusted version of the conventional standard which is seen differently when the foreign norm comes from another State part of the Convention, or from a third State. Promotion of international goal and broad implementation of inner goals, such are the two areas where private international law and ECHR law richly meet

O presente estudo buscou apreender parte da realidade social retratada na Decisão Fundamentada da Agência Antidoping dos Estados Unidos (USADA), na qual foram descritas todas as violações as normas do antidoping cometidas pelo respeitado e reverenciado ciclista Lance Armstrong e sua equipe a U.S. Postal. Para tal, baseou-se na análise dos testemunhos dos ex-ciclistas da referida equipe, o Código da Agência Mundial Antidoping (AMA-WADA), o histórico dos testes antidoping realizados pelo atleta, a Investigação Independente promovida pela União Ciclística Internacional sobre o teste positivo para EPO nas amostras coletadas do desportista durante o Tour de France de 1999 e o relatório técnico do teste positivo para EPO nas amostras do mesmo ano, todos estes documentos anexados a referida Decisão. Adotando uma perspectiva teórica e metodológica oriunda da sociologia simétrica de Bruno Latour, podemos perceber que a confirmação do doping do desportista só foi possível graças ao trabalho de um conjunto de híbridos tecnológicos, os quais revelaram a presença de inúmeros actantes ilícitos performando e delimitando as práticas do atleta. Deste modo, imprimiu-se um novo olhar sobre a carreira do ciclista, tendo em vista a interação deste com os seus aliados EPO (eritropoietina), Cortisona, Testosterona, Doping Sanguíneo, Actoveig, entre outros híbridos que serão apresentados no decorrer da análise. Recontar a história do ciclista sob a ótica de seus alistamentos nos fez perceber que o ciclismo, por ele praticado, não existe sem a concorrência dos distintos não-humanos que ajudam a estabilizar seu conceito, como prática desportiva. Em si tratando das provas científicas que embasaram a Decisão Fundamentada da USADA, observou-se os momentos de produção e significação da realidade nos quais o idioma performativo do doping remodelou o conceito de ciclismo profissional, praticado por Armstrong e muitos outros de sua geração.

Full textCurrently there is a remarkable expansion of English courses for young children in Brazil. There are several modalities available and among them parents may choose from foreign language courses, international and bilingual schools up to schools where English classes are provided in their curricula. Nevertheless, they are all available almost exclusively through private education. Relying on Discourse Analysis assumptions (Pêcheux, 1975; Orlandi, 2001; Coracine, 1998), we have analyzed the representations of children, foreign language and foreign language teaching in the utterances of Brazilian legislation, in the media (reports and institutional sites) as well as in pedagogical coordinators talk, aiming at understanding how the justifications for the inclusion of this curricular component materialize in the discourse, and what senses they relate to. The analysis enabled us to identify certain sense regularities. Firstly, representations of children point to two dominant meanings: one which refers to the belief that they learn fast because they do not perform complex mental processes, and another related to the fact that they are potential workers. Regarding the representations of English teaching, the sayings refer to the learning process as absorption or behavior modeling. The second one concerns representations of English that refer mostly to its sense as a guarantee of success in professional life. Finally, we concluded that the practice of teaching English to children emerges from a discursive chain whose senses are overwhelmingly aligned with the utterances of the neoliberal market. Our analysis of the justifications for teaching English to school children has revealed itself the analysis of projections of the child into the labor market and the naturalization of capitalist logic in the education and the upbringing of elite children. Thus, it seems that the \"early\" language learning coincides with the \"early\" acceptance of market practices in education, as well as the valorization of productivity, preventing, from the earliest childhood, access to idleness or the right to non-compulsory production engagements.

Full textThe research topic relates to the relationship between the Italian legal system and the ECHR, in particular the formal position of the ECHR in the national hierarchy of legal norms, in light of the amendment of Article 117 Const. This issue is very debated among scholars, especially following the entry into force of the Lisbon Treaty. This matter is strictly linked to the problem of the interaction between the Strasbourg Court and the ICC and ordinary judges. In other words, the analysis of the ‘static’ profile concerning the status of the ECHR in the Italian legal order must be accompanied by the examination of the ‘dynamic’ profile, relating to the role of Strasbourg Court’s case-law in the experience of the domestic legal system. Both of these issues follow from the Constitutional case law. Therefore, they will be dealt with in light of the rulings of the ICC, Court of Cassation and Strasbourg Court. Before being examined individually, these topics require the preliminary examination of the terms of the dichotomy between the two theoretic models in matter of relationship between international and national law: the monism and the dualism. Transferred to the peculiar context of the ECHR, these categories are enriched by more dogmatic profiles, which go beyond the sole matter of the relationship between sources of law. The strength of the two theoretical paradigms - that have been born and work in the context of sources of law - must also be checked with reference to the current phenomenon of European production of case law. The law and the legal institutions tend to take more and more jurisdictional shape, generating osmosis leading to the transfer of the focus from relationships between sources of law to the relationships between jurisprudences.

Full textThe study of individual biological rhythmicity and its social expression in the contemporary world was objective of this dissertation, which integrates Human and Biological sciences. We have studied the cultural construction of virtue related to intense and hard work. We analyzed initially the historical process of the transition from feudalism to the mercantile capitalism and to contemporary capitalism. During this process there were an inversion of values; the work from punishment becomes virtue. This transformation is associated with conflicts and revolutions of religious and economic order. The relationship \"work-time\" changes from a traditionalist production method, in feudalism, in which working time is the time of the land, is the time of planting and harvest, is the time of nature, to a temporal relationship dictated by wages, the timing of machines, by religious indoctrination, by schedule control and enforcement of the law. This working time relationship that emerges in mercantile capitalism reverberates today through an ideological phenomenon in the last four centuries, through similar, economic, religious and legal mechanisms. Contemporaneously, in general, it is understood that the more time is devoted to work, the sooner one agrees to work more virtuous he is. On the other side who wakes up to work at noon and breaks the night for leisure is a vagabond . However an area of Biology that emerged in the mid-twentieth century, the Chronobiology, brings knowledge about the biological timing as an additional element to think about the time and work. Time in chronobiology is the integration between the time of nature day and night, and time of body , is the day inside adjusted to the day outside. It is, therefore, individual, it is genetic and ontogenetic. Social schedules and work routines are not always in harmony with the biological timing what leads people either to a kind of temporal misalignment or to practice nontrivial temporal schedules like waking up in the afternoon, for example. Time impositions for daylight saving time, class time for students, inverted shifts to workers, do not take into account the results of most studies of chronobiology literature and result in consequences for the health of the population. Thus, we can conclude that stigmatize those who practice unusual times or set a rigid schedule to carrying out activities such as work or to sleep are ideological constructions historically determined, which the knowledge in Chronobiology deconstructs since it can interpreted that the understanding of biological timing allows to understand its adaptability to social context. We also considered that public policies related to interventions in working hours and education that take into account this new knowledge that emerged in the late twentieth century in Biology will have a role in preventive medicine in contemporary diseases such as cancer and psychiatric disorders

Full textAfter an historical introduction on the evolution of the ECHR system, this thesis deals with the theme of "structural violations" in the case law of the European Court of Human Rights in the context of the crisis of the ECHR, principally due to an excessive workload. Structural violations are not a new phenomenon in the history of the Convention and in the jurisprudence of international human rights, especially that of the Inter-American Court. The theme is therefore an opportunity to tackle key issues: the European Court's execution of judgements in internal legal orders, the future of the ECHR system, but also the "constitutional" nature of the European Court of Human Rights. All of this highlights the recent tension between "individual justice" and "collective justice" in the debate on the "constitutionalization" of European Human Rights Law, which is here the common thread

Full textEmotions are part of everyday life. In order to achieve their goals (including maintaining well-being), people use different emotion regulation strategies. Emotion regulation is the process by which people try to modify the expression of an emotion in a specific situation. There is burgeoning interest in emotion regulation research due to its implications for physical and mental health. Patients with a fibromyalgia diagnosis suffer from chronic widespread pain that is usually accompanied by a wide variety of symptoms, among them persistent fatigue, muscle stiffness, non-restorative sleep, cognitive difficulties (fibrofog) in attention, memory or concentration. Mood and anxiety symptoms are highly prevalent in fibromyalgia, and deficits in emotion regulation in patients with this syndrome are well known. With a worldwide prevalence between 2-4% and in the absence of a curative treatment, the abovementioned constellation of symptoms seriously affect patients’ daily life. The impact on personal, economic and social areas is dramatic. The Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (CERQ) measures emotion regulation with cognitive base (what we think when an emotion emerges facing a situation in life). The CERQ captures nine emotion regulation strategies: Self-blame, Acceptance, Rumination, Positive refocusing, Refocus on planning, Positive reappraisal, Putting into perspective, Catastrophizing and Blaming others. These strategies can help a person to regulate emotions, in an "Adaptive" or "Less Adaptive" way, facilitating or hindering the handling of the situation. In this sense, the use of "Less adaptive" regulatory strategies is conceived as a transdiagnostic factor of psychopathological vulnerability. In this dissertation, we examined the psychometric properties of the Spanish version of the CERQ, whose format was adapted (items grouped by dimension) considering fibromyalgia symptoms. For this purpose, we collected CERQ and clinical data from 231 patients with fibromyalgia participating in a randomized, controlled trial carried out at Parc Sanitari Sant Joan de Déu (St. Boi de Llobregat, Spain). Data analysis supported the sound psychometric properties of the CERQ in patients with fibromyalgia and confirmed the nine-factor structure, adequate internal consistency, and minimal overlapping among subscales found in previous studies with clinical and non-clinical samples. Additionally, correlational and regression analysis supported the construct validity of the CERQ. To sum up, we concluded that the adapted version of the CERQ is a sound and useful instrument for assessing cognitive emotion regulation in fibromyalgia. For the main outcome of this doctoral dissertation, we have an empirically validated measure to assess the frequency of use of nine cognitive emotion regulation strategies in fibromyalgia patients, who are usually characterized by emotion regulation difficulties. Future studies using a longitudinal design might address some pending psychometric aspects of the CERQ in patients with fibromyalgia, such as stability over time (test-retest reliability) and sensitivity to change.

Full textThe present study aims to analyse the legal treatment of the crime of denialism by the two main European actors, namely the European Union (‘EU’) and the European Court of Human Rights (‘ECtHR’). These two systems find themselves in a delicate position that raises a need for deep investigation. They have to cherish and protect the memory of a historical event that is central to their own identity, whereas at the same time promoting the respect of fundamental rights such as freedom of speech. The first section seeks to identify the obligations stemming from the EU legal system, the institutional mandate of which is to harmonise criminal legislation of Member States by setting some basic common elements. Notably, the impact on domestic systems of the Framework Decision 2008/913/JHA on racism and xenophobia shall be assessed. The second part of the present research shall turn to the jurisprudence of the ECtHR to examine the relationship between Holocaust denial as a crime and the right to freedom of expression, with a view to deducing the principles with which States have to comply in the criminalisation of this kind of utterance. The overall goals shall be to identify: a) the interactions between these two systems; b) whether their policies on denialism may be better portrayed in terms of contrast or mutual support; c) the legal nature and content of the obligations originating for the Member States; d) whether a Europe-wide criminal prohibition on denialism appears likely to occur, whether it would be desirable and, if so, under which conditions.

This research investigates the experience of aging in middle-class elderly women in Goiânia, focusing on the possibilities for embodiments. The theoretical basis of the discussion proposed here is the idea of performative embodiment of corporeality (BUTLER, 1993), based on the concept of embodiment (CSORDAS, 1994), seeking to establish relations with the fieldwork in 2011, in gyms in this capital. Special attention is given to issues related to body techniques practiced by these women, the individual management of their own aging process and the construction of feminine identities in old age. We consider the subjectivities, meanings and practices undertaken by them in the life course, paying particular attention to the observed changes in their bodies, the way it influences the configuration of their identities and also to how these women are perceived in their family relationships – gender and intergenerational. This study is located in the field of Anthropology of Aging and Anthropology of the Body.
A presente pesquisa investiga as experiências de envelhecimento de mulheres idosas de classe média em Goiânia, focalizando as possibilidades de materializações de seus corpos. O eixo teórico central da discussão aqui proposta é a ideia de materialização performativa da corporalidade, com base no conceito de embodiment, buscando estabelecer relações com o trabalho de campo realizado em 2011, em academias de ginástica nesta capital. Especial atenção é dada às questões relacionadas às técnicas corporais praticadas por essas mulheres, à gestão individual de seu próprio processo de envelhecimento e à construção de identidades femininas na velhice. O objetivo central foi investigar a forma como essas mulheres experienciam o envelhecimento, discutindo as diferentes possibilidades de recriação da velhice. Levamos em consideração as subjetividades, significados e práticas por elas empreendidas no curso da vida, dando especial atenção às mudanças observadas em seus corpos, à maneira como isso influencia na configuração de suas identidades e, também, à forma como tais mulheres são percebidas em suas relações familiares – de gênero e intergeracionais. Este estudo se situa no campo da Antropologia do Envelhecimento e da Antropologia do Corpo.

Resumo: Observamos, em nossa sociedade, um crescente aumento pela procura por cursos de língua inglesa para crianças desde a primeira infância, sustentado por um argumento que circula de maneira transparente como uma verdade estabilizada: o do "quanto mais cedo, melhor". De modo a atravessar esta evidência, ancoramo-nos na Análise de Discurso, bem como, devido às próprias necessidades desta pesquisa, na História das Ideias Linguísticas, para compreender como a língua inglesa, na história da gramatização brasileira da língua portuguesa na relação com as línguas designadas estrangeiras, constitui-se, no imaginário brasileiro, como a língua estrangeira necessária a ser ensinada cada vez mais cedo, permitindo que surgissem e se estabilizassem tantos cursos infantis de língua inglesa no país. Mostramos em nosso trabalho que o argumento do "quanto mais cedo, melhor" é sustentado por uma rede de significação na qual jogam o discurso científico, o da globalização e o mercadológico, permitindo que o sujeito imerso nesse espaço discursivo do ensino infantil do inglês (pais, alunos, professores, gestores, administradores) trabalhe na evidência de que quanto mais cedo se inicia o ensino do inglês como língua estrangeira - por razões científicas -, mais cedo se está garantindo o sucesso financeiro e pessoal de um indivíduo na sociedade global, permitindo que ele se destaque dos demais, subjugando-os. Em nossa pesquisa, além de percorrer os percursos institucionais sobre o ensino da língua inglesa enquanto língua estrangeira no Brasil procurou compreender como estes discursos são postos em circulação por três centros de ensino de línguas do país. Desse modo, traçamos algumas das condições de produção que levaram a esta prática, desde o início do ensino de línguas estrangeiras no Brasil - colônia até a legislação atual que normatiza este ensino, além de mostrarmos o processo histórico que colocou a língua inglesa como a língua de poder nas relações mundiais atuais, possibilitando a configuração imaginária do inglês como língua global. Por fim, analisamos o discurso institucional e as campanhas publicitárias de três centros de ensino de línguas na atualidade do Brasil para compreendermos os sentidos de língua inglesa e infância presentes nestes dizeres, além de entender os discursos que os sustentam
Abstract: We notice, in our society, a rising increase on the search for English language courses for children, since early childhood, sustained by an argument which circulates in a "transparent" way as an established true: "the sooner, the better". In order to traverse this plainness, we aim to understand how the English language, in the Brazilian institutionalization of grammar history of Portuguese language on the relation to the languages named as foreign, constitutes, in the Brazilian imaginary, as the necessary foreign language to be taught increasingly early, allowing many English language course for children to arise and to stabilize themselves in the country. We show in our research, based on the Discourse Analysis theory and on the History of the Linguistics Ideas, that the "the sooner, the better" argument is sustained by a net of significance in which the scientific, the globalization and the market discourses act. Such process allows the subject, immersed in such English language teaching for children discursive space (parents, students, teachers, managers, administrators), to work on the evidence of "the sooner it is started the English teaching as a foreign language - by scientific reasons -, the sooner it is guaranteed the financial and personal success of a subject in the global society", what enables him/her to contrast from the others, subjugating them. In our research, besides following the institutional courses about the English language as a foreign language in Brazil, we seek to understand how these discourses are put into circulation by three language teaching centers in the country. Thereby, we (i) trace some of the production conditions that took to this practice, from the beginning of the foreign language teaching in colony-Brazil until the current legislation that standardizes this teaching; (ii) show the historic process that took English to the power language position on the current world relations, enabling the imaginary configuration of English as a global language; and (iii) analyze the institutional discourse as well as the advertising campaigns of three language teaching centers in Brazil in order to understand the meanings of English language and childhood present in those sayings and the discourses that sustain them

A busca incessante por informações a respeito da Formação Sergi - maior reservatório de hidrocarboneto da Bacia do Recôncavo - vem ocorrendo durante décadas. Entretanto, raros são os trabalhos que abordam de forma unificada os seus aspectos sedimentares e tectônicos, tal qual se propõe no presente trabalho. Um estudo integrado deverá trazer informações importantes acerca da evolução tectono-sedimentar da Formação Sergi, inclusive no que diz respeito ao seu posicionamento temporal pré-rifte ou cedo-rifte. Para isso, o estudo proposto analisa as estruturas rúpteis (incluindo campos de paleotensão) e os dados sedimentares (como, por exemplo, determinação de sentidos de paleocorrentes), propondo um modelo esquemático dinâmico da evolução tectono-sedimentar da Fm Sergi em área localizada na borda flexural da Bacia do Recôncavo. As estruturas do embasamento também são analisadas com o intuito de verificar se na arquitetura rúptil da bacia há reflexos de herança do embasamento e a sua influência no arcabouço estrutural da mesma. A Bacia do Recôncavo está inserida no sistema de riftes Recôncavo-Tucano-Jatobá cuja formação está relacionada aos estágios precoces de abertura do Atlântico Sul, sendo preservado como um ramo abortado da margem leste do Brasil, durante a fragmentação do Gondwana. A Fm Sergi é caracterizada como uma sequência flúvioeólica-lacustrina, depositada durante a seção pré-rifte. Existe, predominantemente, um padrão de falha N010º notório na área de estudo, sendo o provável responsável pelo basculamento das S0 e no controle da deposição dos sedimentos (principalmente eólico e fluvial entrelaçado). A interpretação integrada dos dados permitiu verificar que a tectônica exerceu um importante papel durante a deposição da Formação Sergi, visto que, seu sistema eólico e seus canais fluviais entrelaçados tiveram, provavelmente, suas paleocorrentes controladas por rampas de revezamento de pequeno rejeito, caracterizando-a como contemporânea à fase cedo rifte da Bacia do Recôncavo.
ABSTRACT The incessant search for information about the Sergi Formation - the largest hydrocarbon reservoir in the Recôncavo Basin - has been occurring for decades. However, there are few studies that unify their sedimentary and tectonic, as proposed in the present work. An integrated study should provide important information about the tectono-sedimentary evolution of the Sergi Formation, including its pre-rift or early-rift positioning. In order to do so, the proposed study will analyze brittle structures (including paleotension fields) and sedimentary data (such as paleocurrents), proposing a dynamic schematic model of the tectono-sedimentary evolution of Fm Sergi in an area located at the flexural border of the Reconcavo Basin. The basement structures are also analyzed with the purpose of verifying if in the basalt architecture there are reflections of inheritance of the basement and its influence in the structural framework of the basement. The Recôncavo Basin is part of the Recôncavo-Tucano-Jatobá riftes system whose formation is related to the early opening stages of the South Atlantic, being preserved as an aborted branch of the eastern margin of Brazil during the Gondwana fragmentation. Fm Sergi is characterized as a fluoride-Aeolic-lacustrine sequence, deposited during the pre-rift section. There is a predominant N010º fault pattern in the study area, being probably responsible for the S0 tipping and the sediment deposition control (mainly braided fluvial and aeolian). The integrated interpretation of the data allowed us to verify that tectonics played an important role during the deposition of the Sergi Formation, since its wind system and its interlaced fluvial channels probably had their paleocurrent controlled by small reject ramps, characterizing it as contemporary to the early rifte phase of the Recôncavo Basin.

Especificamente, a RE atrav?s de cogni??es, ou pensamentos (ou seja, Regula??o Emocional Cognitiva, REC), ajuda os indiv?duos a manter o controle sobre sua experi?ncia emocional durante, ou depois de serem expostos a eventos estressores, ou traum?ticos. O Question?rio de Regula??o Emocional Cognitiva (CERQ), foi desenvolvido para medir nove diferentes estrat?gias de REC que se referem ? maneira consciente e atencional de lidar com eventos de vida amea?adores, ou negativos. Objetivos: Os objetivos gerais desta disserta??o foram desenvolver e investigar as evid?ncias de validade da vers?o brasileira do CERQ (Estudo 1) e investigar a rela??o entre a exposi??o a traumas, estrat?gias cognitivas de RE, afeto e Sintomas de Estresse P?s-Traum?tico (SEPT) atrav?s de um modelo de media??o dupla (Estudo 2). M?todo: Uma amostra de 445 estudantes universit?rios completou um Question?rio S?cio-Demogr?fico, a Life of Events Checklist (LEC-5), a vers?o brasileira do CERQ, a Positive and Negative Affect Schedule (PANAS) e a Posttraumatic Symptoms Checklist (PCL-5) em uma plataforma de pesquisa on-line. Para o Estudo 1, o processo de adapta??o da vers?o brasileira do CERQ incluiu tradu??o, retro-tradu??o, avalia??o de ju?zes e teste em 30 participantes da popula??o-alvo. As evid?ncias de validade de construto foram avaliadas atrav?s de an?lise fatorial confirmat?ria, da consist?ncia interna atrav?s dos alfas de Cronbach e de correla??es com as vari?veis afetivas mensuradas pelo PANAS. Para o Estudo 2 foram realizadas an?lises preliminares de correla??o e de regress?o linear m?ltipla para investigar associa??es entre tipo de trauma, estrat?gias cognitivas de regula??o emocional, afeto e severidade de SEPT. Em seguida, um modelo com rumina??o e afeto negativo como mediadores do efeito da exposi??o ao trauma les?o moral causada por outros sobre os SEPT foi testado usando o macro PROCESS para o SPSS. Resultados: As an?lises de validade mostraram que a estrutura original do CERQ possui boa validade fatorial na amostra e alta confiabilidade, com ? de Cronbach variando entre .71 e .88. An?lises preliminares de associa??o entre tipo de trauma, estrat?gias de regula??o emocional cognitiva, afeto e SEPT mostraram que o tipo de trauma de les?o moral causada por outros, rumina??o e afeto negativo s?o preditores significativos da gravidade de SEPT. Ao testar o modelo de media??o dupla, os resultados sugerem que a rumina??o ? um mediador forte e independente entre o tipo de trauma de les?o moral causada por outros e SEPT, enquanto afeto negativo ? um mediador apenas quando a rumina??o est? presente no modelo. Discuss?o: Nossos resultados indicam que a vers?o brasileira do CERQ ? uma ferramenta v?lida e confi?vel para avaliar as estrat?gias cognitivas de regula??o emocional e que os indiv?duos expostos ao tipo de trauma de les?o moral causada pelos outros utilizam rumina??o como uma estrat?gia de regula??o emocional cognitiva com mais frequ?ncia. O uso aumentado dessa estrat?gia amplifica os n?veis de afeto negativo que acaba levando a n?veis mais elevados de SEPT. Background: Literature suggests that emotional responses are associated to the development and maintenance of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) symptoms. The ability to influence emotional experience and expression, known as emotion regulation (ER), can be critical when dealing with significant levels of stress. Specifically, ER through cognitions, or thoughts (i.e. Cognitive Emotion Regulation; CER), helps individuals to maintain control over their emotional experience during, or after being exposed to stressful, or traumatic events. The Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (CERQ) was developed to measure nine different CER strategies that refer to the conscious and attentional way people deal with threatening, or negative life events. Objectives: Therefore, the general purposes of this thesis were to develop and evaluate validity evidences of the Brazilian version of the CERQ (Study 1) and to investigate the relationship between trauma exposure, cognitive emotion regulation strategies, affect and Posttraumatic Stress Symptoms (PTSS) testing for a double mediation model (Study2). Method: A sample of 445 university students completed a Socio-Demographic Questionnaire, the Life of Events Checklist (LEC-5), the Brazilian version of the CERQ, the Positive and Negative Affect Schedule (PANAS) and the Posttraumatic Symptoms Checklist (PCL-5) on an on-line research platform. For Study 1, adaptation process of the Brazilian version of the CERQ included translation, backtranslation, expert committee?s evaluation, and testing on 30 participants from the target population. Validity evidence was assessed through confirmatory factor analysis, internal consistency through the Cronbach?s alpha analysis, and correlations with the affective variables measured by the PANAS. For Study 2, preliminary correlation and multiple linear regression analyses were conducted to investigate associations among trauma type exposure, cognitive emotion regulation strategies, affect and PTSS severity. Next, a model positing rumination and negative affect as double mediators of the effect of trauma type of moral injury by others on PTSS was tested using the PROCESS macro for SPSS. Results: Validity analyses showed that the original structure of the CERQ has good factorial validity in the sample and high reliabilities, with Cronbach?s ? ranging between .71 and .88. Preliminary analyses of the association among trauma type, cognitive emotion regulation strategies, affect and PTSS showed that trauma type of moral injury, rumination and negative affect were significant predictors of PTSS severity. When testing for the double mediation model, results suggested that rumination is a strong and independent mediator between trauma type moral injury by others and PTSS, while negative affect is a mediator only when rumination is also included. Discussion: Our results indicate that the Brazilian version of the CERQ is a valid and reliable tool for assessing cognitive emotion regulation strategies, and that individuals who are exposed to trauma type of moral injury by others engage more frequently in rumination as a cognitive emotion regulation strategy, which in turn amplifies levels of negative effect that ends up leading to higher levels of PTSS. Overall, these results can influence further researches and aid the development and improvement of cognitive treatment interventions for individuals exposed to traumatic events.

Full textThis paper took as object of study the teacher training project developed by the Center for education (CED) UECE, during the period from 2000 to 2004, timeline from your installation, with the launch of its Cornerstone and the completion of a significant part of its main Special Training Programs. The work of Thesis took over as purpose: explaining the content and pedagogical and political direction taken by the teacher training project, now under way, with the purpose of making it visible, public, with real possibilities for discussion and analysis and, consequently, its institutional identity definition. To bring out, give visibility to the teacher training project currently underway in the CED, we used the case study â study characteristic of qualitative research approach â with emphasis on the analysis of documents, interviews and participant observation with a variable group of sixteen people, on average, one of coordinators of courses/programs, in the areas of knowledge of same constituents , of course teaching of pedagogy and members of the reformulation of this Curriculum. The structure of the text resulting from the research presents the history carried out by CED, in the timeframe mentioned, placing it in the larger context of UECE and teacher training policies deployed in Cearà and Brazil the years 2000; the ideas, impressions and experiences of the subjects investigated, about the build process and conduct of training projects of courses/programs under their responsibility; the content of teacher training project, experienced by CED, from the analysis of documents written by top administration UECE and CED. The findings of the survey point to the thesis that there is a Pedagogical political project of teacher training, underway in CED that, by being faithful to neoliberal logic, is still fragmented into many other projects; diluted between the direction printed on the policy and strategic planning the educational curriculum guidelines expressed in the direction of the teacher training courses
O presente trabalho tomou como objeto de estudo o projeto de formaÃÃo docente desenvolvido pelo Centro de EducaÃÃo (CED) da UECE, no perÃodo de 2000 a 2004, espaÃo temporal compreendido entre sua instalaÃÃo, com o lanÃamento de sua Pedra Fundamental e a conclusÃo de parte significativa de seus principais Programas Especiais de FormaÃÃo. O trabalho de Tese assumiu como propÃsito: explicitar o conteÃdo e a direÃÃo polÃtica e pedagÃgica tomada pelo projeto de formaÃÃo docente, em curso, com fins de tornÃ-lo visÃvel, pÃblico, com possibilidades reais de discussÃo e anÃlise e, conseqÃentemente, de definiÃÃo de sua identidade institucional. Full textDebates about diversity among board directors are in progress globally. Scientists are in disagreement about the impacts of diversity in the business world. Yet there are strong opinions about a group’s formation on the distribution of gender, age, education and ethnicity. There are speculations of a possible relationship between diversity and sustainability reporting. The growing demands of such reporting increases the interest to determine which factors promote sustainability reporting. This study intends to explore theCorporate Environmental Disclosure (CED) of sustainability reporting. Currently there are no mandatory standard for sustainability reporting, such information is public though and exposures in media. Media compares the reports to public expectations and has the power to affect a company’s reputation. The relationship between board diversity, environmentalreporting and media exposure is hence an area worth exploring.The main intent of this study was to describe and analyse whether board diversity affects CED. Further the intent was to explore whether CED affects media exposure. The sampling for the study consisted of multinational companies. Of 447 examined, 202 formed the basis. The results of the study established by structural equation modeling, stated that board diversity is not associated with CED. Yet the study indicates that CED affects media exposure. External variables that were found to have effect on board diversity, CED or media exposure were firm size and geographical

Full textThe neurosciences have been present in the most diverse realms of human knowledge since what has become known as the Decade of the Brain, in the 1990s. Among the areas with which it establishes interface is the Pedagogy of Foreign Languages for Children (PFLC), which we analyze in its realization in the discourse of private bilingual schools in Brazil. The epistemological framework for the current analysis is the Discourse Analysis derived from work carried out in France by Pêcheux and expanded in Brazil by authors such as Orlandi (2001), Carmagnani (1996), Grigoletto (2002), Coracini (1992) and Pinheiro-Passos (2006). Our object is the discourse produced at the interface between contemporary neuroscience and English teaching for children and infants within private bilingual schools in Brazil. Previous research has pointed out that this teaching is part of a discursive formation whose subjects are valued based on obtaining prominence within the dynamics of competitiveness, naturalized by the ideology of flexible accumulation capitalism (GARCIA, 2011). The results obtained suggested that the discursive dynamics of this scenario is mostly constructed by meanings that are not aligned with the knowledge currently produced in the neurosciences and invests in an early projection of the small children both in the logic of the economic system as well as in the roles of competition and imaginary selection to be achieved by them in hypothetical futures; Such insertion was, in a significant part of the cases studied, justified on the basis of the neuropsychological characteristics of the apprentices. We have identified that this argumentation operated strongly through the appropriation of concepts of biological sciences regarded as outdated, such as the critical period, and predominantly represented proficiency in more than one language as an advantage. Our research has identified a threefold underpinning in the flow of the meanings between the discursive formations of neurosciences and foreign language pedagogy for children: name bias, political bias, and product bias. Through the analysis of how aspects of contemporary conjuncture put pressure on each of the pillars, we found that the incompatibility between the meanings produced by neurosciences and by FLTC in the discourse bilingual schools, is due mainly to the incompatibility between the conditions of production of the originating discourse (neurosciences of a progressive character in the central countries) and the final discourse (the conservative advertising discourse in Brazil), and not to gaps in the access to the central concepts of biomedical science.

A presente dissertação visa à análise das implicações da tradução do dialeto bávaro, assim como da linguagem não padrão em geral empregada no filme #Wer früher stirbt ist länger tot# / #Quem morre mais cedo, passa mais tempo morto#, do diretor Marcus Hausham Rosenmüller, lançado no ano de 2006. Visto que a legendação é um processo de tradução diferente da modalidade texto verbal - texto verbal, pressupõe-se que as próprias limitações inerentes a este processo são fatores que podem interferir na compreensão do texto fílmico. Assumindo a perspectiva que a linguagem empregada no filme delineia o caráter dos personagens, hipotetiza-se que, ao optar somente pelo uso pragmático da língua sem levar em conta os elementos sociolinguísticos e culturais marcados na língua fonte, pode ser afetada a identidade dialetal expressa por meio da religiosidade, da laconicidade e da expressividade da cultura bávara representada na obra. A análise das legendas e de suas implicações é realizada à luz das propostas de tradução de variantes linguísticas de Kolb (1999) e da tradução sobre uma perspectiva sociolinguística de Neubert (2009).

In order to examine the means by the way it implements the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council, it is necessary to develop the relations between international and community law. The analysis focuses mainly on the question of the international legal personality of the EU, the engagement of its international responsibility and the implications of its three pillars structure. Through the study of the particular characteristics of the CFSP (Common Foreign and Security Policy) pillar and those of the pillar devoted to police and judicial cooperation in criminal matters, the aim is to identify the impact of the different treaties, until the adoption of the Treaty of Lisbon. The scope of the analysis is, furthermore, to stress the consequences of the construction of the relations between the EU and the UN on a three level basis. The implementation of the Security Council resolutions occurs, first of all, at the level of the UN, where the adoption of the measures is decided, at the level of the EU, where initiatives have been taken from the very early years of the European integration and, finally, at the level of the member states of the EU, which are directly concerned by the decisions taken by the Security Council. The extension of the fight against terrorism and the emergence of new measures in relation with the handling of crisis, offer the necessary material in order to try to identify the outlines of the relation between the UE and the UN, through the perspective of the protection of human rights and in respect with the jurisprudence of the CJEU and the ECHR

The process of programmed cell death is important in the development and homeostasis of multicellular organisms. The conserved morphological events of this process have been termed apoptosis. The molecular mechanisms of apoptosis execution are also conserved. We have investigated the behavior of these shared components during programmed cell death in the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans. We have found that the CED-9 protein, an anti-apoptotic member of the Bcl-2 family of apoptotic regulators, is required for the sequestering of the CED-4 cell-death activator to mitochondria. In the absence of CED-9 in C. elegans embryos, we found that CED-4 protein translocates to the nuclear membrane. In addition, inducing excess programmed cell death by expression of the EGL-1 cell-death activator triggers the translocation of CED-4 from mitochondria to the nuclear membrane. We performed a genetic screen for mutations that trigger programmed cell death in ced-9 gain-of-function animals where cell death is blocked. We identified a mutation in cup-5, the C. elegans homolog of the human mucolipidosis type IV gene, which is mutated in a lysosomal storage disorder. We found that cup-5 is required for viability and that excess lysosomes accumulate in cup-5 mutants. In addition, cup--5 mutants contain excess programmed cell deaths, suggesting that apoptosis may play a role in the pathology of mucolipidosis type IV.
