Abstract:
AbstractSubadult growth and health have been analyzed in three cemetery samples from medieval Poland, including two early-urban sites: Cedynia dated to the 10t-14th centuries AD, and Ostrów Lednicki dated to the 13th-15th centuries AD, and a rural site Słaboszewo dated to the 14th-17th centuries AD. The nutritional status was not expected to have substantially differed among the settlements, due to the culturally induced undiversified diet of children, and predominant share of medium-to-low status individuals. However, city life and village life were supposed to differ in factors correlated wi

Methods We obtained 22 pelvic girdles of adult males from a medieval cemetery located in Cedynia, Poland. The control group comprised 31 contemporary male pelves from individuals inhabiting the same region. The analyzed parameters were: interspinous distance (ISD), intercristal distanc

Invasion of synanthropic plants into the forest vegetation of the Cedynia Landscape Park (NW Poland)The distribution of synanthropic plants was studied in the Cedynia Landscape Park (Cedyński Park Krajobrazowy), with particular reference to alien species and their capability to penetrate into forest ecosystems. The research was conducted by the cartogram method in the Atpol system (1-km grid squares). The Park is situated within the Western Pomeranian Province and includes two large woodland complexes: the Piasek Forest (Puszcza Piaskowa) and the Mieszkowice Forest (Lasy Mieszkowickie). The fo

As a result of the popularization of aerial archaeology methods in the last twenty-five years, a number of remains of monumental buildings from the Neolithic period, called roundels, have been discovered in western Poland. They had a circular plan and an external diameter of 70–200 m. They consisted of one or several circles of wooden palisade, which in turn were surrounded by circles of earth ditches. The northernmost site of this type was discovered in Nowe Objezierze near Cedynia – less than 80 km south of Szczecin. The author postulates to include these sites built of wood and earth in the

Morphological features of oospores of Chara baueri A. Braun, one of the rarest charophyte species worldwide, were studied based on 100 oospores collected from a small and temporarily dried mid-field pond near Cedynia, Western Poland. This is the first Polish and fifth presently known locality of this species. For comparison 67 oospores from a German population (similar pond localized near Batzlow, Germany) were also measured. So far, data on morphology of C. baueri oospores as well as the species ecology are limited. The only more detailed study of oos

Tekst składa się z sześciu części. Pierwsza w nich to wprowadzenie zawierające wyjaśnienie najistotniejszych terminów, następnie szczegółowo przedstawiono obszar badań, tkankę urbanistyczną oraz definicję i wzór morfoznaku. W
