Abstract:
Several poorly known cladocerans of the subfamily Aloninae (Cladocera: Anomopoda: Chydoridae) from Indochina re-gion are reinvestigated. Revision of the genus Anthalona Van Damme, Sinev & Dumont 2011 from Thailand, Cambodiaand Vietnam reveals that the region is inhabited by Paleotropic Alona harti harti Van Damme, Sinev & Dumont, 2011 anda new species, Alona sanoamuangae sp. nov., which appears to be an Indochinese endemic. It has a number of featuresprimitive for the genus, including non-specialised IDL setae and non-differentiated scraping setae. So far, these characterswere recorded

Abstract:
Three new species of Aloninae cladocera from Central and South Brazil are described. Two of them, Acroperus tupinamba sp. n. and Alona yara sp. n., were previously recorded from the area as European taxa Acroperus harpae (Baird, 1834) and Alona quadrangularis (O.F. Müller, 1776), respectively. Acroperus tupinamba differs from the other species of Acroperus in smaller size, long posterior setae of the valves, shorter and wider postabdomen, short setules near the base of postabdominal claw, long apical spines of antenna, and peculiar morphology of limb IV exopodite. Alona yara differs from A. qu

Abstract:
The plankton samples collected from the Subansiri floodplain wetlands revealed a rich Cladocera assemblage of 55 species belonging to 30 genera and 7 families. The species richness represents 42% and 75% of the total amount of fresh water species reported from India and Assam, respectively. Chydoridae was the most speciose family, with 31 species, while Ilyocryptidae was represented by a single species. Sididae, Daphniidae, Bosminidae, Moinidae and Macrothricidae were represented by four, five, three, two and four species, respectively. The faunal composition is represented by cosmopolitan, tr

Magnospina gen. n. was created to relocate species of the dentifera-group from Alona sensu lato (Crustacea: Cladocera) and include Magnospina dentifera comb. n. and Magnospina siamensis comb. n. The synapomorphies of the Magnospina gen. n. are (1) basal spines longer than 2/3 of the postabdominal claw, (2) presence of 1–4 large denticles, broad at their bases, protruding downwards, without setules between them. Morphological traits such as habitus, rostrum and postabdomen shape, armature of IDL setae, number of setae on the exopod of limb III are also important in the distinction between Magno

We investigate morphology and taxonomic rank of several Alona species related to A. rectangula Sars, 1861. Despite high morphological intraspecific variability, a number of synapomorphies shows that taxa related to A. rectangula are sufficiently different in external and internal morphology from “true” Alona Baird, 1843. These are removed from Alona into separate genera. The rare West-African A. holdeni Green 1962 is redescribed and we describe a new species from North Africa, Arabia and islands in the Western Indian Ocean. Abstract:
This study describes the occurrence of the phytophilous cladoceran Celsinotum candango, which has been considered, up to now, an endemic species of the Brazilian Cerrado, with only two previous records in the wetlands of Brasilia, Federal District. The cladoceran has now been registered at Coutos Lake (“Lagoa dos Coutos”), an altitudinal, temporary shallow lake, located in ironstone outcrops at Serra do Gandarela, Minas Gerais state. This mountain ridge was recently turned into an integral protection conservation unit, the Gandarela National Park. However, many shallow lakes, including this on
