Abstract In gravure offset printing, ink is transferred with the help of an offset material from a patterned gravure plate to a substrate. This thesis is concerned with the study and further development of this printing process for electronics; on alumina, glass and polymers. The work has been divided into five parts. In the first section, the printing process is described. The second section describes the composition of the inks for gravure offset printing and the resulting ink properties. It also presents the ink transfer mechanism; the model that explains how the ink is transferred betwee

BaTiO3 thin films have been prepared by inkjet depositing of ceramic inks based on barium titanate nanopowder. Formulated inks had good sedimentation stability. The most significant stabilization of the pigment was observed for samples formulated on ethyl and n-butyl alcohols. All prepared inks had dilatant flow with a pronounced minimum viscosity of Newtonian flow. The printing operation was performed using thermal drop-on-demand inkjet printer. Printed films had dense structure and considerable adhesion to the substrate surface. Optical profilometry of the three layer film showed thickness a

Geopolymers are materials that were studied for the first time in the '70s by J. Davidovits as an alternative to Portland cement. Some aspects about production and some physical proprieties aren't completely understood yet. Recently attention is focused on the realization of geopolymer matrix composites, thanks to the lower fabrication costs compared to the mostly used ceramics composites, for the availability of the raw materials and for their lower environmental impact. This research project focuses on the production of ceramics via Additive Manufacturing (AM) techniques, with particular focus on extrusion-based technologies. The main advantage of AM is the ability to produce cellular structures with high complexity and controlled porosity, allowing to manufacture light but efficient stretch-dominated structures. The inspiration comes from nature: bone architectures are a great example, consisting of thin, solid skins attached to highly porous, cellular cores. Very few commercially available AM systems are suited for ceramic materials, and most of them use c
