Abstract:
This study was aimed on comparison of interspecific and traditional varieties suitable for rosé wines production. For samples of wines – ‘Laurot’, ‘Cerason’, ‘Merlan’, three interspecific Czech varieties and ‘St. Laurent’, ‘Blaufränkisch’ two traditional varieties and furthermore new Slovak variety ‘Nitra’ and Austrian ‘Blauer Wildbacher’ were carried out measurements of fundamental analytical values. Furthermore, total and individual phenolic compounds, total anthocyanins, optical density at 280 nm (OD280), total flavanols, reducing power and antiradical activity were determined. The results show that most phenolic compounds and highest antiradical activity has the Austrian variety ‘Blauer Wildbacher’ which was in sensory evaluation in last place. From Czech varieties it was ‘Cerason’ and ‘Laurot’. In the sensory evaluation landed the best variety ‘Blaufränkisch’. Very good results then reached a variety ‘Laurot’ as in 2008. Due its higher resistance to fungal diseases, health benefits and good sensory properties appears to be interesting for the production of rosé wines, not only from organic production.

Abstract:
The paper deals with the study of antioxidant properties of extracts from vine seeds (Vitis vinifera L.) using spectrometric and chromatographic techniques. Ten vine varieties (Cerason, Laurot, Kofranka, Gewürztraminer, Hibernal, Blaufrankisch, Zweigeltrebe, Erilon, Palava, and Welschriesling) obtained from the years 2015, 2016, and 2017 were selected for the study. The antioxidant activity was determined spectrophotometrically using four fundamentally different methods; the content of total polyphenolic compounds was determined using the Folin–Ciocalteu method. In 2015, the content of 14 antioxidants (gallic acid, caffeic acid, coumaric acid, coutaric acid, ferulic acid, fertaric acid, trans-piceid, trans-piceatannol, rutin, quercetin-3-β-d-glucoside, quercitrin, myricetin, catechin, and epicatechin) were studied. The results of the study show the high content of antioxidant components in grape seeds and the differences in content in individual varieties and in individual years.

Abstract:
Cadmium (Cd) is a heavy metal that occurs in all areas of the environment, including the food chain. In the body, it causes oxidative stress by producing free radicals that are harmful to the cells. Grape seed extract (GSE) contains a wide range of biologically active components that help to neutralize the adverse effects of free radicals. In this study, the effects of GSE prepared form semi-resistant grapevine cultivar Cerason, which is rich in phenolics, on biochemical markers of brown rats exposed to the effects of cadmium were monitored. GSE increased the plasma antioxidant activity and, in the kidneys and the liver, Cd content was significantly lowered by GSE co-administration. Accordingly, the increase in creatinine content and alanine aminotransferase activity and the decrease of catalase and superoxide dismutase activities caused by cadmium were slowed down by GSE co-administration. The results of this work reveal that grape seed extract offers a protective effect against the intake of heavy metals into the organism.

Abstract:
Introduction: Chronic cerebral ischemia (CCI) accounts for 60-75% of all cerebrovascular diseases in Russia and around the world. The problem: the issues concerning the role of immunity in the pathogenesis of CCI depending on the main etiologic factor and stage of the disease are hardly elaborated, which makes the main pharmacological correction impossible. The objective of the study is to establish the immune disorder patterns in patients with CCI I-II associated with arterial hypertension and to develop differentiated pharmacological methods for their correction. Material and methods: The results of treatment of 104 patients of Kursk Regional Clinical Hospital with CCI associated with II-stage arterial hypertension were analyzed: 52 patients were with CCI I stage (2th-4th groups of 12-14 patients) and 52 patients were with CCI II stage (5th -7th groups of 12-14 patients), aged 50±5, who received the basic pharmacological therapy (enalapril and vinpocetine). The patients of the 2nd and 5th groups additionally received ceraxon and mexicor, those of the 3rd and the 6th groups additionally received immunomodulator glutoxim, and those from the 4th and 7th groups received polyoxidonium. Twenty-two healthy donors were in the control group. Immune disorders were assessed by the parameters of the functional activity of neutrophils, levels of cytokines in plasma, components of the complement and inhibitors. Results and discussion: In the case of CCI I and II stages similar proinflamatory immune disorders were detected, which is indicative of immune inflammation. The inclusion of glutoxime and polyoxidonium in a complex pharmacotherapy helps reduce the severity of immune and neuropsychic status indicators, which are more evident in case of stage II. Conclusions: In case of CCI I stage, the medications used can be arranged according to their clinico-immunological efficacy in ascending order: ceraxon+mexicore ® ceraxon+mexicor+glutoxim ® ceraxon+mexicor+polyoxidonium, and in case of CCI II stage: ceraxon+mexicor ® ceraxon+mexicor+polyoxidonium = ceraxon+mexicor+glutoxim.

Abstract:
Strain CPCC 203383T, isolated from the surface-sterilized fruit of Cerasus pseudocerasus (Lindl.) G. Don, was taxonomically characterized based on a polyphasic investigation. It had the highest 16S rRNA gene sequence similarities with Ornithinimicrobium pekingense DSM 21552 (97.2 %) and O. kibberense DSM 17687T (97.2%). Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences showed that the strain formed a distinct phyletic branch within the genus Ornithinimicrobium and the whole genome sequence data analyses supported that strain CPCC 203383T was phylogenetically related to the Ornithinimicrobium species. The isolate shared a range of phenotypic patterns reported for members of the genus Ornithinimicrobium , but also had a range of cultural, physiological and biochemical characteristics that separated it from related Ornithinimicrobium species. The menaquinone was MK-8(H4). The polar lipid profile consisted of diphosphatidylglycerol (DPG), phosphatidylglycerol (PG), phosphatidylinositol (PI) and unidentified lipids (ULs). The major fatty acids (>5 %) were iso-C15 : 0, anteiso-C15 : 0, iso-C16:0, 9-methyl C16 : 0, iso-C17 : 0 and anteiso-C17 : 0. The cell wall peptidoglycan contains l-ornithine as diagnostic diamino acid and an interpeptide bridge consisting of L-Orn←L-Ala←Gly←D-Asp. The combined genotypic and phenotypic data indicated that the isolate represents a novel species of the genus Ornithinimicrobium, for which the name Ornithinimicrobium cerasi sp. nov. is proposed, with CPCC 203383T(=NBRC 113522T=KCTC 49200T) as the type strain. The DNA G+C composition is 72.3 mol%. The availability of new data allows for an emended description of the genus Ornithinimicrobium .

Objects: Beta tricalciumphosphate pellets loaded with individualized antibiotics may represent novel options in the treatment of osteomyelitis and infectious bone disease. Here, the in vitro antibiotic elution of vancomycin and gentamicin from the synthetic bone graft substitutes Cerasorb® and Cerasorb M® was tested. Methods: Antibiotic elution and concentration of gentamcin and vancomycin were measured using photometrically-based measurement and homogeneous particle-enhanced turbidimetric inhibition immunoassays (PETINIA). Results: Initially both materials showed a high release of the loaded antibiotics, with Cerasorb M® showing lower release levels for gentamicin and vancomycin than Cerasorb®. Gentamicin concentrations of Cerasorb M granules and Cerasorb were below the minimum detectiontreshold until day four and six of the experiment respectively. The vancomycin release-level followed a similar pattern, although the vancomycin concentration eluted by Cerasorb M® granules stayed above the detection threshold during the experimental time. Conclusions: Cerasorb® and Cersorb M® may represent a new treatment option in osteomyelitis and infectious bone disease.

In order to provide a theoretical basis for the development of the sweet cherry under the greenhouse environment in Tianjin area, the black cherry and the Sichuan cherry planted in greenhouses in north China were used to study the physiological and biochemical index under the different salt stress treatments (0, 0.2%, 0.4% and 0.6% ).The result showed that MDA content of Cerasus szechuanica was higher under salt stress; SOD activity of Cerasus szechuanica was almost the same to Cerasus maximowiczii (except under 0.6%Nacl); POD activity of Cerasus maximowiczii was higher under 0.4-0.6%Nacl concentration but lower under 0-0.2%; PRO content of Cerasus maximowiczii was higher under each salt stress but chlorophyll b content of Cerasus maximowiczii was lower under each salt stress.

In this paper, the habitat of Cerasus clarofolia was investigated and analysed, under natural conditions the growth of Cerasus clarofolia is influenced by low temperature of winter. The seeds of Cerasus clarofolia need low-temperature to germination. The seedling with 4 leaves grew well after introduction, the survival rate reached 79.7%. Planting with clear water was found easier to take roots, the roots were come from the lenticels, under diffent environmental conditions, the lenticels formed morphological, physiological differences are the important factors take roots for Cerasus.

Abstract:
Papaya rinsgpot virus type P (PRSV), a member of the genus Potyvirus in the family Potyviridae, is primarily transmitted by aphids in a nonpersistent manner (2). The virus is geographically widespread but has a narrow host range within the plant families Caricaceae, Chenopodiaceae, and Cucurbitaceae (2). The first reported epidemic of PRSV in Jamaica was during the late 1980s (1). Since then, the virus has spread across the island and is recognized as a potential problem for continued production of papaya (Carica papaya L.). In the summers of 1999 and 2000, prominent vein clearing symptoms were observed on leaves of a common weed, cerasee (Momordica charantia L.), in papaya orchards of western Jamaica. This weed, a climbing annual in the Cucurbitaceae family used in a variety of local herbal preparations, was found to be growing on fences or the ground along the periphery of the orchards. Leaf samples were collected and tested for PRSV by double-antibody sandwich (DAS)-ELISA with polyclonal antibodies (Agdia Inc, Elkhart, IN). In addition, crude sap extracts from 12 cerasee leaf samples that were diluted 1:20 were mechanically inoculated onto six plants each of cerasee and papaya. Within 2 weeks, vein clearing symptoms were observed on cerasee and symptoms (vein clearing followed by mosaic development and leaf distortions) typical of PRSV infection were obtained on papaya (2). All original leaf samples and inoculated plants tested positive in DAS-ELISA. In subsequent vector transmission tests, 10 healthy cerasee or papaya seedlings were inoculated with aphids (Aphis gossypii) that were previously permitted to feed on PRSV-infected papaya or cerasee. High rates of virus transmission were achieved in three tests from cerasee to papaya (77 to 83%), papaya to cerasee (90 to 93%), and cerasee to cerasee (60 to 70%). Total RNA from papaya samples was subjected to reverse transcriptase-PCR using primers to the capsid protein gene (3). A single fragment of the expected size (approximately 996 bp) was amplified and sequenced and showed high nucleotide identity (90.3 to 91.4%) with previously reported PRSV type P from Jamaica (GenBank Accession No. DQ104823), Cuba (GenBank Accession No. DQ089482), Florida (GenBank Accession No. AF196839), Brazil (GenBank Accession No. AF344650), and Hawaii (GenBank Accession No. S46722). To our knowledge, this is the first report of the natural occurrence of PRSV on a weed host in Jamaica. Abstract:
The research aim is to determine the ability of cerakin seeds as natural insecticide on caterpillar leek (spodoptera exigua Hubn). In this study, the cerakin seeds from Saloya village, Labuan Panimba village Donggala, and Sidole Village Ampibabo, Central Sulawesi are used as sample. The cerakin seeds was extracted by using ethanol and then were tested on caterpillar leek (spodoptera exigua) with a concentration of extract 15, 25, 35, 45 and 55%. The results showed that for each concentration showed vary results in killing larvae of caterpillar leek (spodoptera exigua), the higher concentration the more mortality of caterpillar leek’s larvae (spodoptera exigua). Therefore it can be stated that the extract of cerakin seeds can be used as an natural insecticide on caterpillar leek (spodoptera exigua) and is also able to kill the larvae caterpillar leek (spodoptera exigua) 93.3% to 100%.

Abstract:
Background. Early bone loss due to tooth extraction can be significantly reduced by socket preservation. The aim of this study was to compare the in vivo effects of hemihydrate calcium sulfate granules (an alloplastic material) and Cerabone (a bovine-derived xenograft) on socket preservation in dogs. Methods. Six male Mongrel dogs were randomly divided into 2 groups (n=3) for sacrificing and histological evaluation 4 and 8 weeks after a surgery. The second and third premolars on both sides of the lower jaw were extracted surgically. The sockets on one side were filled with Cerabone, and with calcium sulfate on the opposite side. In the slides, the ratio of the area of newly formed bone to the area of the entire cavity, and the ratio of the area of fibrous connective tissue to the area of the entire cavity were measured. The presence of inflammation was also examined. Wilcoxon signed-rank test, Sign test and McNemar test were used for statistical analyses (ɑ=0.05). Results. The means of new bone proportion were 11% and 8% for Cerabone and calcium sulfate, respectively (P=0.58). The means of connective tissue proportion were 29% and 33% for Cerabone and calcium sulfate, respectively (P=0.72). No inflammatory cells were observed in the Cerabone group, although 50% of the samples in the calcium sulfate group showed inflammation (P=0.50). Conclusion. The effects of calcium sulfate and Cerabone on socket preservation in dogs on bone formation, fibrous connective tissue and inflammation levels were not significantly different at 4- and 8-week postoperative intervals.

At Fruit Research Institute in Cacak, major objectives of the work on breeding new sour cherry (Prunus cerasus L.) cultivars are high cropping, large, high-quality fruits and resistance to causal agents of diseases and pests. As a result of the planned hybridization, more than 10,000 hybrid seedlings have been developed from about 40 cultivars within more than 110 parental combinations, among which are 'Cacanski rubin' ('Shasse Morello' x 'K?r?ser Weichsel') and 'Sumadinka' ('K?r?ser Weichsel' x 'Heimanns Konserven Weichsel') which have been named and released. Ten-year study of 11 hybrids, selected from the population of about 3,000 hybrid seedlings, gave four hybrids which have been singled out as elite (III/23, III/31, II/40 i XII/57). These hybrids are currently under procedure of being released as new cultivars. The paper presents two-year results of the study of ripening time, pomological properties, biochemical composition of fruits, and field resistance to causal agents of diseases and pests attacking the above named genotypes which were compared to standard cultivar 'Heimanns Konserven Weichsel'. In the studied hybrids, fruit weight, soluble solids content and sugars content were higher than in standard cultivar. In addition, they exhibit substantial field resistance to causal agents of brown rot (Monilinia laxa /Ader et Ruhl./ Honey ex Whetz.), cherry leaf spot (Blumeriella jaapii (Rehm.) v. Arx.), shot-hole (Clasterosporium carpophilum (L?v.) Aderh.) and cherry fruit fly (Rhagoletis cerasi L.) attack.

Both Neobone® (HAp) and Cerasorb® (β-TCP) were porous, whereas Cytrans® (CO3Ap) was dense. Crystallite size and specific surface area (SSA) of Neobone® (HAp), Cytrans® (CO3Ap), and Cerasorb® (β-TCP) were 75.4 ± 0.9 nm, 30.8 ± 0.8 nm, and 78.5 ± 7.5 nm, and 0.06 m2/g, 18.2 m2/g, and 1.0 m2/g, respectively. These values are consistent with the fact that both Neobone® (HAp) and Cerasorb® (β-TCP) are sintered ceramics, whereas Cytrans® (CO3Ap) is fabricated in aqueous solution. Dissolution in pH 5.3 solution mimicking Howship’s lacunae was fastest in CO3Ap (Cytrans®), whereas dissolution in pH 7.3 physiological solution was fastest in β-TCP (Cerasorb®). These results indicated that CO3Ap is stable under physiological conditions and is resorbed at Howship’s lacunae. Histological evaluation using hybrid dog mandible bone defect model revealed that new bone was formed from existing bone to the center of the bone defect when reconstructed with CO3Ap (Cytrans®) at week 4. The amount of bone increased at week 12, and resorption of the CO3Ap (Cytrans®) was confirmed. β-TCP (Cerasorb®) showed limited bone formation at week 4. However, a larger amount of bone was observed at week 12. Among these three bone substitutes, CO3Ap (Cytrans®) demonstrated the highest level of new bone formation. These results indicate the possibility that bone substitutes with compositions similar to that of bone may have properties similar to those of bone.

Direct sinus graft procedure was performed on 22 patients intended for implant placement. Two types of graft materials were used (Bio-Oss and Cerabone) and after 8 months healing time the implants were inserted. Radiographic assessment was performed over the period of four years. Particle size, rate of calcium release, and size and type of crystal structure of each graft were evaluated.Results.The average particle size of Bio-Oss (1 mm) was much smaller compared to Cerabone (2.7 mm). The amount of calcium release due to dissolution of material in water was much higher for Bio-oss compared to Cerabone. X-ray image analysis revealed that Bio-Oss demonstrated significantly higher volumetric loss (33.4 ± 3.1%) of initial graft size compared to Cerabone (23.4 ± 3.6%). The greatest amount of vertical loss of graft material volume was observed after one year of surgery.Conclusion. The chemical and physical properties of bone graft material significantly influence resorption rate of bone graft materials used for sinus augmentation.

This article presents a comparison of bone replacement materials in terms of their ability to produce living bone image at the place of their implantation. Five bone replacement materials are compared (Osteovit—porous collagen, Cerasorb Foam—collagen scaffolding of synthetic β tricalcium phosphate, Osbone—synthetic hydroxyapatite, Endobone—deproteinized bovine-derived cancellous bone hydroxyapatite, and Cerasorb—synthetic β tricalcium phosphate). Intraoral radiographs are taken immediately after implantation and 12 months later. The texture analysis was performed to assess (texture index, TI) the level of structure chaos (entropy) in relation to the presence of longitudinal elements visible in radiographs (run length emphasis moment). The reference ratio of the chaotic trabecular pattern (Entropy) to the number of longitudinal structures, i.e., trabeculae (LngREmph), is 176:100 (i.e., 1.76 ± 0.28). Radiological homogeneity immediately after the implantation procedure is a result of the similar shape of its particles (Osbone, Endobone and Cerasorb) or radiolucency (Osteovit, Cerasorb Foam). The particles visible in radiographs were similar in the LngREmph parameters applied to the reference bone, but not in the co-occurrence matrix features. The TI for Osteovit during a 12-month follow-up period changed from 1.55 ± 0.26 to 1.48 ± 0.26 (p > 0.05), for Cerasorb Foam from 1.82 ± 0.27 to 1.63 ± 0.24 (p < 0.05), for Osbone from 1.97 ± 0.31 to 1.74 ± 0.30 (p < 0.01), and for Endobone from 1.86 ± 0.25 to 1.84 ± 0.25 (p > 0.05), The observed structure in the radiological image of bone substitute materials containing calcium phosphates obtains the characteristics of a living bone image after twelve months.

The design and development of ceramic structures based on 3D scaffolding as dental bone substitutes has become a topic of great interest in the regenerative dentistry research area. In this regard, the present study focuses on the development of two scaffold-type structures obtained from different commercial dental ceramics by employing the foam replication method. At the same time, the study underlines the physicochemical features and the biological profiles of the newly developed scaffolds, compared to two traditional Cerabone® materials used for bone augmentation, by employing both the in vitro Alamar blue proliferation test at 24, 48 and 96 h poststimulation and the in ovo chick chorioallantoic membrane (CAM) assay. The data reveal that the newly developed scaffolds express comparable results with the traditional Cerabone® augmentation masses. In terms of network porosity, the scaffolds show higher pore interconnectivity compared to Cerabone® granules, whereas regarding the biosafety profile, all ceramic samples manifest good biocompatibility on primary human gingival fibroblasts (HGFs); however only the Cerabone® samples induced proliferation of HGF cells following exposure to concentrations of 5 and 10 µg/mL. Additionally, none of the test samples induce irritative activity on the vascular developing plexus. Thus, based on the current results, the preliminary biosecurity profile of ceramic scaffolds supports the usefulness for further testing of high relevance for their possible clinical dental applications.

In 1997 the Research Institute for Fruitgrowing and Ornamentals set up a comparative rootstock trial to study foreign-bred dwarf cherry rootstocks in the Hungarian climate. Based upon their effects on trunk and canopy growth, rootstocks can be classified into 3 groups: very vigorous (Cerasus mahaleb L. Cema, Cerasus avium L. C. 2493, Weiroot 13), medium vigorous (Weiroot 158, Weiroot 154, P-HL-A) and dwarfing rootstocks (Weiroot 72, Weiroot 53, GiSelA 5). Differences between the blooming and ripening times of rootstock/scion combinations were also observed. Linda produced the highest cumulative yield followed by Katalin, Germersdorfi 3 and Piramis. The largest fruit diameter was measured in Germersdorfi 3 among the sweet cherry cultivars; the highest ratio of fruits larger than 26 mm was found on Weiroot 72, and the lowest on GiSelA 5. The largest fruit diameter of the sour cherry Piramis was observed in trees on Cerasus avium C. 2493. &nbsp;

Este estudo teve o objetivo de caracterizar a superfície foliar e a composição de ceras epicuticulares das plantas daninhas Commelina benghalensis, Ipomoea grandifolia e Amaranthus hybridus. As ceras foram extraídas, quantificadas e empregadas em cromatografia de camada delgada, a fim de se determinar a composição química. Partes centrais das folhas foram submetidas à microscopia eletrônica de varredura, para caracterização da superfície foliar adaxial e abaxial. Em A. hybridus as ceras foram constituídas basicamente por substâncias hidrofílicas (álcool, ésteres); a superfície foliar não apresentou tricomas ou glândulas, com grande quantidade de estômatos e as ceras formando pequenos grânulos. I. grandifolia apresentou ceras epicuticulares essencialmente hidrofílicas e superfície foliar rugosa, sem tricomas e sem a presença de cristais de ceras. Em C. benghalensis, as ceras apresentaram na sua constituição química os hidrocarbonos (n-alcanos), sendo, portanto, relativamente mais hidrofóbicas, o que pode influenciar a menor penetração de herbicidas hidrofílicos, como o glyphosate. A superfície foliar apresentou tricomas e estômatos recobertos pela cera epicuticular. Foi observada também a presença de ceras dispersas na superfície adaxial. Com base nos dados obtidos, concluiu-se que um dos mecanismos de tolerância em C. benghalensis a herbicidas é a penetração diferencial devido à composição química das ceras epicuticulares, que apresentam componentes de natureza lipofílica em maior concentração que as demais espécies estudadas.

The European cherry fruit fly, Rhagoletis cerasi (Diptera: Tephritidae), is a key pest for the cherry production industry in Europe and west Asia that has recently invaded North America. Insecticide applications are frequently employed to control this devastating pest, often without considering its population trends. We developed a novel decision support system (DSS), and field tested it in commercial sweet cherry orchards in central Greece. The DSS includes two algorithms that predict the timing of adult activity in the wild and support pest management decisions, based on R. cerasi population trends and pesticide properties, respectively. Preparatory monitoring of the testing area during 2014, using adult traps, revealed high population densities of R. cerasi in non-managed sweet cherry orchards and low densities in commercial ones. Implementation of the DSS during 2015 resulted in low R. cerasi adult population densities and zero fruit infestation rates in commercial cherry orchards. Similar population and infestation rates were recorded in conventionally treated plots that received on average two insecticide applications compared to the one-half that the DSS treated plots received. Simultaneously, high population densities and fruit infestation rates were recorded in non-managed cherry orchards. Apparently, the implementation of the simple DSS we developed reduces the cost of R. cerasi management and minimizes the chemical footprint on both the harvested fruit and the environment.

Xenogeneic biomaterials Cerbone® and OsteoBiol® are widely used in oral implantology. In dental practice, xenogeneic biomaterial is usually combined with autologous bone to provide bone volume stability needed for long-term dental implants. Magnesium alloy implants dissolve and form mineral corrosion layer that is directly in contact with bone tissue, allowing deposition of the newly formed bone. CSBD heals by intramembranous ossification and therefore is a convenient model for analyses of ostoconductive and osteoinductive properties of different type of biomaterials. Magnesium alloy-enriched biomaterials have not yet been applied in oral implantology. Therefore, the aim of the current study was to investigate biological properties of potentially new bovine xenogeneic biomaterial enriched with magnesium alloy in a 5 mm CSBD model. Osteoconductive properties of Cerabone®, Cerabone® + Al. bone, and OsteoBiol® were also analyzed. Dynamics of bone healing was followed up on the days 3, 7, 15, 21, and 30. Calvary bone samples were analyzed by micro-CT, and values of the bone morphometric parameters were assessed. Bone samples were further processed for histological and immunohistochemical analyses. Histological observation revealed CSBD closure at day 30 of the given xenogeneic biomaterial groups, with the exception of the control group. TNF-α showed high intensity of expression at the sites of MSC clusters that underwent ossification. Osx was expressed in pre-osteoblasts, which were differentiated into mature osteoblasts and osteocytes. Results of the micro-CT analyses showed linear increase in bone volume of all xenogeneic biomaterial groups and also in the control. The highest average values of bone volume were found for the Cerabone® + Mg group. In addition, less residual biomaterial was estimated in the Cerabone® + Mg group than in the Cerabone® group, indicating its better biodegradation during CSBD healing. Overall, the magnesium alloy xenogeneic biomaterial demonstrated key properties of osteoinduction and biodegradidibility during CSBD healing, which is the reason why it should be recommended for application in clinical practice of oral implantology.

Two fungal strains, Aspergillus terreus MUT 271 and Trichoderma harzianum MUT 290, isolated from a Mediterranean marine site chronically pervaded by oil spills, can use crude oil as sole carbon source. Herein, these strains were investigated as producers of biosurfactants, apt to solubilize organic molecules as a preliminary step to metabolize them. Both fungi secreted low molecular weight proteins identified as cerato-platanins, small, conserved, hydrophobic proteins, included among the fungal surface-active proteins. Both proteins were able to stabilize emulsions, and their capacity was comparable to that of other biosurfactant proteins and to commercially available surfactants. Moreover, the cerato-platanin from T. harzianum was able to lower the surface tension value to a larger extent than the similar protein from A. terreus and other amphiphilic proteins from fungi. Both cerato-platanins were able to make hydrophilic a hydrophobic surface, such as hydrophobins, and to form a stable layer, not removable even after surface washing. To the best of our knowledge, the ability of cerato-platanins to work both as biosurfactant and bioemulsifier is herein demonstrated for the first time.

Abstract:
The paper presents the data collected from an ecological plot of sweet cherries with an area of 0.5 ha, where different methods of monitoring and combating the main pests were tested: European cherry fruit fly - Rhagoletis cerasi L. and black cherry aphid - Myzus cerasi F. The study took place during the years 2019-2020. European cherry fruit fly monitoring - Rhagoletis cerasi L. was performed with both atraCERAS optical panels and Decis Trap devices, with both a warning and control role, the results obtained highlighting a similar flight dynamics. The control of the European cherry fruit fly, carried out by direct control with the help of Decis Trap devices, the dose of 100 traps / ha, proved to be effective, the Abbott effectiveness indicator registering values between 83.4 - 90.5% in 2019, respectively 81.6 - 87.8% in 2020, depending on the studied variety. To control the black cherry aphid - Myzus cerasi F., the product Prev-Am was mainly used, based on orange oil, which was used with good results for the first attacks observed.

Abstract:
We evaluated the bone healing effect of grafting with synthetic β-tricalcium phosphate (β-TCP; Cerasorb®), bovine-derived hydroxyapatite (HA; Bio-Oss®), and a mixture of β-TCP and HA in rats. Each material was grafted in prepared 8-mm frontal bone defects in 15 rats. The control group underwent surgery without any grafting materials and was examined after 4 weeks, whereas the experimental groups received grafting materials and were examined after 1, 2, and 4 weeks. After implantation, the rats were sacrificed for histomorphometric studies using light microscopy, and the data were analyzed using analysis of variance. Considerable inflammation and fibrosis were observed after 1 and 2 weeks in all experimental groups, whereas the inflammation was reduced and fibrosis was stabilized after 4 weeks. New bone formation was observed at the defect margin. Statistically, there was no difference in new bone formation among the three experimental groups. In conclusion, there was no difference in new bone formation using Bio-Oss®, Cerasorb®, and a mixture of Bio-Oss® and Cerasorb®.
