Abstract:
In this paper, we mainly study the impact of the implied certainty equivalent rate on investment in financial markets. First, we derived the mathematical expression of the implied certainty equivalent rate by using put-call parity, and then we selected some company stocks and options; we considered the best-performing and worst-performing company stocks and options from the beginning of 2023 to the present for empirical research. By visualizing the relationship between the time to maturity, moneyness, and implied certainty equivalent rate of these options, we have obtained a universal conclusi

One of the most common ways to account for investment risk is to add a risk premium to the risk-free discount rate when computing present values of expected revenues which are uncertain. Using certainty-equivalent analysis, we show that the correct risk premium for short-term investments can easily be in the commonly used 7-percentage-point range. But for such risk premiums to be appropriate for long-term forestry investments, the necessary certainty-equivalent conditions often seem to be unreasonably restrictive. Abstract In this paper, we consider the problem of the existence and the uniqueness of a recursive utility function defined on intertemporal lotteries. The purpose of this paper is to provide the results of the existence and the uniqueness of a recursive utility function. The utility function is obtained as the limit of iterations on a nonlinear operator and is independent on initial starting points, with iterations converging at an exponential rate. We also find the maximum utility and an optimal strategy by means of iterations of the Bellman operator.

AbstractSocial systems are not necessarily equivalent to mating systems. Observation is prerequisite for control of one animal by another. It is not possible without extremely good visibility, which is rare. Nonetheless most social theories assume such control. Neither social position nor copulation guarantee paternity. It is important that biochemical tests provide certainty of paternity in as many studies as possible, so that assumptions about behavioural determinants of reproductive success can be tested. The function of fighting is discussed. Males spend more of their time cooperating than

Risk aversion and elasticity of intertemporal substitution (EIS) are separated via the celebrated recursive utility building on certainty equivalents of indirect utility. Based on an alternative separation method, we formulate a questionnaire for simultaneous and consistent estimation of risk aversion, subjective discount rate, and EIS. From a representative group of 1,153 respondents, we estimate parameters for these preferences and their variability within the population. Risk aversion and the subjective discount rate are found to be in the orders of 2 and 0, respectively, not diverging far

The objective of this work is to present the numerical simulation of the air-bending process of DC01 steel. There are plenty of works concerned with assessing the springback phenomenon in the bending process also using anisotropic material models (Hill’s model is widely used). However, very few recent publications are concerned about the fatigue life assessment of bent products. As ensuring the proper fatigue resistance of products is vital for increasing safety and widening the service intervals there is certainly a need to perform investigations in this field. Portfolio strategies such as minimum variance portfolio and the certainty equivalence portfolio are used to construct global portfolios, and their performances on an ex-ante basis are compared to those for domestic portfolios for each of the

For out-of-sample diagnostics, the authors consider several tests to evaluate the predictive ability of the model. The titanium alloy Ti-6Al-4V is known to exhibit creep behavior at temperatures as low as room temperature. Consequently, for cyclic loading with hold times it is possible that the rate dependent behavior of Ti-6Al-4V can have negative bearing upon the low cycle fatigue life. If this effect is shown to be present at room temperatures, then it will certainly be magnified and, therefore, very important at elevated temperatures. In order to account for the effects of strain rate dependent deformation in fatigue life prediction methodology, it was considered necessary to incorporate a viscoplastic

Given a linear mapΦ:Mn→Mm, its multiplicity maps are defined as the family of linear mapsΦ⊗idk:Mn⊗Mk→Mm⊗Mk, whereidkdenotes the identity onMk. Let‖⋅‖1denote the trace-norm on matrices, as well as the induced trace-norm on linear maps of matrices, i.e.‖Φ‖1=max{‖Φ(X)‖1:X∈Mn,‖X‖1=1}. A fact of fundamental importance in both operator algebras and quantum information is that‖Φ⊗idk‖1can grow withk. In general, the rate of growth is bounded by‖Φ⊗idk‖1≤k‖Φ‖1, and matrix transposition is the canonical example of a map achieving this bound. Our analyses first show how bankruptcy risk is incorporated in DCF valuation, where investment risk is captured by cash flow certainty equivalents. Within this general setting, we find that bankruptcy risk can be captured by discounting factors incorporating period-specific bankruptcy probabilities, allowing the numerators in a DCF valuation model to follow a binary random walk.
