Few studies have directly analyzed the association between biodiversity and certification, often focusing on limited geographical or temporal scopes. There is a lack of understanding regarding the socio-political and ecological drivers of FSC certification’s relationship with biodiversity conservation. Abstract This Chapter demonstrates how the Rotorcraft Certification by Simulation (RCbS) process has been exercised for the Category A Rejected take-off (CAT A RTO) Applicable Certification Rule. Assessment of an AW109 Trekker A Flight Simulation Model was conducted using the Phase 2a guidance of the RCbS process. A Flight Test Manoeuvre (FTM) was designed to enable an Evaluation Pilot to assess the fidelity of the Flight Simulator (FS) components presented in Phase 2b. The fidelity of the Vestibular Motion Cueing and Visual Motion Cueing Systems, together with ‘in-cockpit’ pilot cueing aids e.g., audio and instrument panel, were assessed. The Chapter details how updating the FSM and FS components can be undertaken for a FTM to demonstrate the feasibility of the RCbS process for the CAT A RTO Applicable Certification Rule.

Abstract:
Forest certification is used as market-based tool to fulfill the demands desired by peoples of the world. Earlier, it has been launched to protect the biodiversity in the tropical forests later, evolved to work on sustainable forest management. Forest stewardship council (FSC) and Programme for Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) are the major international schemes, competing each other for their remarks. Comparatively, FSC has strict guidelines for conservation purpose, whereas PEFC has towards multi-stakeholders’ concerns. After 2015, India has its own certification scheme known as Network for Certification and Conservation of Forests (NCCF).

NGOs from Brazil and Russia participate in the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), a global private governance initiative that promotes sustainable forestry using certification and labeling, contributing to increases in certified forest territory and certified companies in both more democratic Brazil and less democratic Russia. The chapter argues that while Brazilian NGOs participate in FSC more robustly at the national and international levels, FSC has been a more consequential site for mediation in Russia. It argues that differences in Russian and Brazilian NGO engagement with FSC are linked in part to the timing of global governance intervention. Brazilian NGOs achieved some policy goals during earlier efforts to save the Amazon rainforest, while in Russia NGOs leveraged the FSC at a crucial moment following post-Soviet market reforms when forestry companies sought export markets.
