Abstract:

Má diplomová práce pojednává o sporu mezi Československem a Polskem o území Těšínska v letech (1918-1920). Po ukončení první světové války vznikly dva nové nástupnické státy, které začaly projevovat velký zájem o toto území. Hlavní důvody zájmu ze strany Československa byly především ekonomické, strategické, ale také historické. Polsko jako hlavní důvod k získání tohoto území uvádělo příčiny etnické. V roce 1919 došlo k válce mezi těmito státy (tzv. Sedmidenní válka). Celý tento spor byl nakonec ukončen v roce 1920 na konferenci v belgickém Spa, kde byly stanoveny konečné hranice území. Klíčová slova: Těšínko, spor, Sedmidenní válka, Polsko, Československo. Summary This work is describing the conflict between Czechoslovakia and Poland over Teschen in years (1918-1920). After the end of World War I., both of the two created independent states Polish Republic and Czechoslovak Republik claimed the area of Cieszyn Silesia. Czechoslovakia claimed the area partly especially on economic and strategic grounds, but so historic. The Polish side based its claim to the area on ethnic criteria. In 1919 was a military confrontation between Czechoslovakia and Poland, known in Czech as the Seven day war. A final line was set up at the Spa Conference in Belgium on July 28, 1920. Abstract:

This diploma thesis is focused on matters of communist regime and it's differences between two middle - European countries: Czechoslovakia and Poland. The first theoretical part approaches assumptions of birth and the beggining of communist ideology in the Word, presents main ideas and personalities whitch communism risen of and was developed. The second and the third part enlarge about the way of establishment communist regime and it's practical behaviour in Czecholsovakia and Poland. Finally last part within the frame of binary comparison of mentioned countries goes about common and different attributes which defined birthing and lately establishing communist regimes in named states. This main part is highly focused on the way of birth of communist regimes, on the differencies between their behaviour and on the answering of research questions.

Abstract:

The theme of this thesis is the cooperation of Czechoslovak and Polish dissidents during 1970' and 1980'. The Committee for the Defense of Workers and Charta 77 have established relations in the second half of 1970'. Mutual contacts were on different levels: from the support of political prisoners to meetings in Krkonose Mountains in 1978. The cooperation was limited by the actions of security apparatus of both Communist countries. In Czechoslovakia several persons were sentenced to prison for their contacts with the Polish opposition. In the early 1980' the development in Poland and Czechoslovakia was markedly different. In April 1980 was established The Independent Trade Union Solidarity which became the most populous opposition movement in the history of the Soviet Block. The systemic crisis of the Communist regime in Poland had created great insecurity in the Czechoslovak leadership. The result was greater pressure on domestic dissidents. The State Security had controlled also contact between Wroclav Solidarity members and Prague signatories of Charta 77 with the help of secret collaborator Stanislav Dvorak. Abstract:

This dissertation deals with the Czechoslovak and Polish community of "scientists of science" (mainly historians, philosophers, and methodologists of science) from 1962 to 1989. It focuses not only on the inner evolution of this community (scientists, their works, scientific institutions etc.), but it also examines how was this community formed by the tradition of scientific thought on the one hand, and by the contemporary political and ideological context (Soviet influences, Marxism-Leninism, monopoly of the communist party) on the other. It focuses also on the ability of the scientific community to accept or reflect influences from the Western Europe or United States - which means from the so-called "capitalist countries". Two spheres are analysed to clarify dispositions of Polish and Czechoslovak "scientists of science" to foreign transfers: first, scientists' possibilities to travel to Western countries (research stays, participations at congresses etc.), and second, accessibility to foreign (mainly Western) scientific literature. Functioning of Western concepts in the community of Polish and Czechoslovak "scientists of science" is illustrated by an example of the reception of Thomas Kuhn's The Structure of Scientific Revolutions from 1962. Abstract:

The dissertation looks at the history of one physical education organisation which was of great significance to the development of physical culture in inter-war Czechoslovakia and Poland, despite this not being its only activity. The YMCA came into being in England but it particularly flourished in the United States of America. During the First World War, Czechoslovak and Polish soldiers were given a taste of their activity, being accompanied home by members of this in- ternational association after the war had ended. Following requests from military and political leaders of the time, the American YMCA sent its secretaries to the newly established Czechoslovakia and renewed Poland to help establish the first local associations. It was particularly due to them that new practically unknown sports, were introduced to the region. In addition, in both Czechoslovakia and Poland, the YMCA also took responsibility for having new physical education fa- cilities built, improving training methods and generally enhancing young people through sport. During the inter-war years, local YMCA groups and their mem- bers performed exceptionally well in a number of sporting disciplines and ranked among the top Czechoslovak and Polish athletes. Dissertation Title Polish Workers in Czechoslovakia: Unwelcome Friendship Specific features of temporary labor migration in the socialist system Author Ondřej Klípa Summary The aim of the dissertation is to study the case of Polish workers in Czechoslovakia who were employed on conditions set by intergovernmental treaties. Most of them were women. This case had two specific features. First, it was highly regulated by both of the co-operating states. Second, the state bodies tried to control intensively both the workers in order to isolate them from local population and the public discourse of this topic. In this study I argue that both of the features arise from fundamental elements of socialist system, which are "economy of shortage" and totalitarianism. These elements were identified in the work of Hungarian economist János Kornai. Instead of totalitarianism as a coherent concept I use only certain totalitarian practices that were exercised with variable intensity, depending on circumstances. In the dissertation I examine causality between these two fundamental elements (independent variables) and both regulation and control (dependent variables). Abstract:

During the first world war political dialogues about relations of future states between Czech and Polish politics took place, which concerned Těšínsko, too. Polish political organ Rada narodowa dla Księstwa Cieszyńskiego was established on 19 October 1918. It represented the highest coordination and representantion of Polish politic in Těšínsko. Rada Narodowa published resolution on 27 October 1918, in which it intended to annex Těšínsko, and also Polish part of Orava and Spiš. Czechs started organizational activities only after establishment of Czechoslovakia. Rada Narodowa's effort to take over the power in Těšínské Slezsko in the interest of Poland, was one of the incentives for creation of Czech Zemský národní výbor for Slezsko. It was founded on 30 October 1918 in Polish Ostrava. The first convention between Poland and Czechoslovakia was signed on 2 November in 1918 in Orlová. It ought to be valid until the competent agents make another decision about Těšínsko's destiny. The third national group in Těšínsko, Germans, would prefer to create an independent Silesian state. ZNV demanded the czechoslovakian government to put through contentious territory's occupation - especially košicko-bohumínská railway, which guaranteed connection with Slovakian territories by agreement's military.
