<p> Johann Sebastian Bach’s <i>Chaconne</i> is a staple of violin repertoire. Many instrumentalists have adapted it and many arrangements now exist, ranging from simplistic to complex. This paper provides various insights on how to perform the <i>Chaconne</i> on marimba. Comparing different adaptations, as well as analyzing performances by excellent musicians, helps give direction to my own interpretation. The <i>Chaconne</i> is a challenging undertaking for any instrumentalist, but this paper will shed light on how to perform Bach’s great work successfully, on marimba. </p>

J.S. Bachs Chaconne är den sista satsen från Partita nr. 2 i d-moll för Soloviolin och är med sina 257 takter längre än svitens alla andra satser tillsammans. Denna skriftliga reflektion inom konstnärligt examensarbete består av en analys av J.S. Bachs Chaccone i d-moll från den andra violinpartitan (BWV 1004). Stycket är skrivet för oackompanjerad violin och i studien utforskas hur man utför en transkription till klassisk gitarr. Texten innehåller viss bakgrund till Bachs troliga livssituation vid styckets tillkomst. Även min interpretation och mitt framförande av stycket redovisas.
