Abdallah, Rana. "Reliability approaches in networked systems : Application on Unmanned Aerial Vehicles." Thesis, Bourgogne Franche-Comté, 2019. http://www.theses.fr/2019UBFCA008/document.
Full textUnmanned aerial vehicles, used and developed initially in the military field, have experienced profound changes in recent years and are increasingly used in the civilian field. Recognized as drones, they are most often used in the civil and military domains. They are used for firefighting, rescue as well as in specific applications such as surveillance and attack. The formation flight is the most used because it allows a judicious distribution of the tasks and greatly improves the efficiency of the drones (principle of the attack in pack, carnivorous animals). This will raise the issue of coordination and strategy, as well as the type of operation (master /slave, ...). The type and quality of optimal information also remain to be defined. The increased use of these cooperative systems in hazardous environments makes their reliability essential to prevent any catastrophic event. Overall performance of the drone fleet should be ensured, despite possible degradation of components or any changes that occur to the network and the environment. It is necessary to detect the anomalous behaviors that might contribute to collisions and thus affect the mission. Taking into consideration performance and cost, the fault-tolerant system and redundant systems are not always the most efficient solution for the formation fleet flight. Different methods like the fault tree analysis (FTA), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) have been used in the helicopter field. In the first part, we propose a static method based on FTA, to ensure a successful communication between the drones from one side, and between the drones and the ground station from the other side by emphasizing on the exchange of information flows. It uses various fault trees to represent the different error conditions of this complex system. In the second part, we analyze the different fault states and their probabilities. As this process is stochastic, an absorbing Markov chain approach is developed. The proposed approach can be used to find the most risky scenarios and considerations for improving reliability. Finally, in the third part, we put the emphasis on the message receipt problem in a drone’s communication network by proposing a protocol based on number of retransmissions. The reception of a message is provided with a certain probability of reliability depending on several attributes such as modulation and bit error rate (BER) characterizing the UAVs

This study presents a means-end chain method for examining Vietnam youth’ behavior while they are using Zalo – an instant messaging (IM) application. This paper also covers the relationship between the attributes of Zalo and users’ perceptions of their attributes, consequences and values. The respondents comprise 25 Vietnam youths around 20-30 years old, including 15 women and 10 men. Laddering interviews identify users’ perceptions of seven attributes, eight consequences and five values. The result indicates that the need of communication is increasing day by day. The need of being a part of society, such as maintaining and creating relationship, is essential. Respondents like the instantaneity. They want to update information and solve their problems rapidly. Moreover, the means-end chain in this paper can be represented in a hierarchical value map. This study also provides some implications about the IM application for marketers to better address these youth users. Key words: Instant messaging, Laddering, Means-end chain, Zalo

Connecting various suppliers’ databases in a supply chain is a major challenge in information technology. In this thesis, two methods are proposed for solving this problem. One is to represent the messages among databases as XML documents. The other is to deliver the XML documents using Java Message Service (JMS) in J2EE technology. Under this infrastructure, a supplier produces XML documents. Next the XML documents are forwarded to a broker in JMS. Then the message consumer can fetch the required XML documents from the broker. Since the XML documents may be an inventory statement, purchase order, or receipt, etc., the underlying XML documents delivering system is actually a Supply Chain Execution System (SCES). As a result, the proposed approach has been applied and implemented as two real SCESs: flower Trading Information Processing System (flower-TIPS) used in flower industry and Vessel Information Propagating System (VIPS) used in seafood industry. The performances of both systems in use show the feasibility of the proposed approach.

Full textThis thesis examined the adoption of mobile phones and use of SMS among Chinese teenagers based on the uses and gratification theory and computer-mediated communication research. Specific areas of Chinese teenagers’ SMS use, such as parental control, the circulation of chain messages, the popularity of greeting messages and the wide use of emoticons were studied. The social functions of SMS, especially in Chinese teenagers’ social-emotional practice, were explored as well. This study is based on a field survey conducted among one hundred Chinese teenagers. It reveals that, for Chinese teenagers, the two main reasons for the adoption of mobile phones are parental influence and the need for social communication; the use of SMS corresponds to seven uses and gratifications: flexibility, low cost, privacy, embarrassment avoidance, entertainment, fad and escape. SMS is also used by Chinese teenagers to build and maintain their social relationships.
