I am proposing here that career studies is an appropriate subject for study at university level, even for those not intending to enterthe ‘career’ field. ‘Career’ lies at the intersection of the individual and society, and its study is as challenging as that of anyother university subject because it requires understanding of, and a rigorous approach to, a complex area, but unlike them, however, it is of direct relevance to students’ own lives. This paper argues that their reflections upon their own ‘career’experiences would illuminate and interrogate what they would learn through academic study

The field of cultural studies is founded upon the belief that there are no essential (ahistorical or transhistorical) limits separating theory from practice. Thus, it rejects out of hand a central principle of the West's premodern tradition of thought, which held that political theory must always be tempered by a practical awareness of human nature. The move away from this older belief in natural limits is largely carried out in the name of diversity, a sincere wish to promote openness and tolerance toward the various ends that humans may choose to pursue. Abstract Chemical Treatment of Closed, or hydronic, heating and cooling systems to minimize corrosion can be a deceptively simple practice. Many systems have good integrity and chemical levels are easily maintained within desired ranges. These systems present little challenge to the water treatment professional, and they are easily overlooked by building owners and operating personnel. However, not all closed systems are easily maintained. Accordingly, proper maintenance of closed water systems, including a sound water treatment program, is required to minimize failures and the associated risk

Sulfur Recovery Units (SRU) are critical components in gas plants and refineries, responsible for converting hydrogen sulfide (H2S) to elemental sulfur. This process is crucial from an environmental perspective as it prevents the release of toxic gases into the atmosphere. However, operating the unit under harsh conditions, including high temperatures and aggressive environments, can expose it to severe degradation in the form of corrosion and cracking, which requires appropriate implementation of mitigation strategies. Abstract Amine solutions have been widely used to remove acid gases at gas treatment units found in gas plants, refineries and other facilities. Corrosion is always a challenge for these units, particularly for carbon steel equipment or piping that are processing hot amines. Amines are noncorrosive by nature. However, once acid gases are dissolved in amines, they act as strong electrolytes, which significantly increase the susceptibly of carbon steel components to corrode. Temperature, acid gas loading, velocity, and degradation products are the primary factors that influence amine corrosion.
