Metod var en deskriptiv litteraturstudie som inkluderade 12 stycken vetenskapliga artiklar med både kvalitativ och kvantitativ ansats. Litteratursökningen gjordes i databaserna Medline/PubMed och Cinahl. Resultat visade att motiverande samtal är en användbar metod framförallt för sjuksköterskan men är även användbar för all hälso- och sjukvårdpersonal.
