The routine-biased technological change hypothesis suggests that technology-induced routinisation in job task content has a profound impact on employment structure. This study captures the exten

Abstract:
ABSTRACTThis work studied the effect of plasma treatment on the wettability of composite materials constituted of polyethylene glycol (PEG) and polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB) processed through the spin-coating and electrospinning techniques. For this purpose different polymeric solutions of PEG:PHB with proportions of 100:0, 80:20, 50:50, 20:80, and 0:100 were prepared. It found that the hydrophobicity of the as-prepared composite films processed by electrospinning was higher than those processed by spin-coating, using the same proportions of PEG:PHB. The electrospun samples with higher content of

The work context reconstructs the feminine and the masculine, rendering public service a mirror of gender asymmetry. Nowhere is this clearer than in local government, where many face-to-face services are delivered. In cities and counties, the largest job categories are education and police work. Almost 90% of elementary school teachers are women and less than 12% of police officers are women. The sequelae to job segregation—overlooking the emotive component of jobs, pay inequity, and glass walls—will not change until organizational logic catches up with a more nuanced appreciation of gender.

This research attempted to access a future vision of generalist practice of social work for developing mechanisms to develop women’s awareness of voluntary work. This research came in four sections. The first section included the problem of research, aims, and methodology. The second dealt with the concept of generalist practice of social work, as well as dealing with the theoretical framework of generalist practice and its professional operations. The third section dealt with many concepts such as: voluntary work, awareness, as well as the concept of women’s awareness of voluntary work. It al

There is continuing interest in the relationship between knowledge and practice in social work. Overly narrow conceptualizations of the EBP model deepened the gap between practice knowledge and formal research evidence in the profession. While much has been written about the dissemination and adaptation of research findings to practice, much less is known about the actual sources of knowledge social workers draw on in their practice. This paper reports findings from an exploratory survey about the sources and content of knowledge that changed professional practice among social work field instr

The microstructure transformations and deformation behavior of Al-Fe-Mn alloys with different Fe contents during their cold rolling process were investigated by means of hardness testing, conductivity testing, and transmission electron microscopy. It was observed that the hardness of the two alloys increased initially along with the levels of cold rolling reduction, then reduced when levels of cold rolling reduction increased further. Two kinds of deformation behaviors, work hardening and work softening, were observed during cold rolling for both Al-Fe-Mn alloys with different Fe contents. The

Analyses confirm fully amorphous character, no change inTgor thermal stability, and a partially exfoliated structure. The tensile modulus, yield stress, and failure stress increase with the clay content, both in dried and conditioned samples. In contrast, failure strain decreases with increasing clay content in conditioned samples but is independent of clay content in dried samples. Concurrently, the con

Effects of K and P deficiency on polyamines (putrescine, spermine, spermidine, and agmatine) in leaves and roots were investigated in poplar (Populusmaximowiczii Henry) cuttings growing in half-strength Hoagland solution with varying levels of K (0, 0.3, and 3 mM) and P (0, 0.05, and 0.5 mM). Putrescine contents increased in the leaves of plants grown without K and in roots of plants grown in 0.3 mM K and without K. In the absence of K, the putrescine levels in the roots and leaves were 80 and 25 times, respectively, those of the control (3 mM K). The zero-P treatment increased the putrescine

Like all forms of work, project work is constructed within the rules that govern labor and capital markets. In this paper, I examine how project work and the project workforce in ‘old’ media (motion pictures and television) and ‘new’ media (multimedia or Internet-based information, entertainment, and infotainment) have been affected by changes in the regulatory regime governing entertainment and information-intensive industries in the United States. Of particular significance is the role that collective bargaining institutions play in industry governance. In the case of old media, the regulato

This article discusses the changes in workers’ identity as blue-collar or salaried staff with respect to changing work content due to new models of industrial systems. Within these new industrial models, traditional blue-collar work is moving into areas of work previously held solely by salaried staff. This article argues that the merging of work content will cause a process of identity-mergers, a process calling for increased collaboration between blue-collar unions on the one hand, and salaried staff unions on the other. Reporting on four company cases, the authors argue that this process is
