Abstract:
The novel Burung-Burung Migran created by Miranda Harlan and Sutik AS reveals female power in a way she deals with how hard a life could be. Sutik’s character which portrayed in the novel is suitable to be viewed from feministic perspective. Therefore, the study was taken, besides explaining the structure of the novel, also to explain, in particularly, the image of Sutik’s character in the Burung-Burung Migran’s novel viewed from feministic perspective. The object studied from this novel was about the structure of the novel itself, which divided into three elements; the background, characterization, and the plot of the story. However, Sutik’s characterization was analyzed through three different aspects, physically, psychologically, and socially. This literature study of Burung-Burung Migran applies descriptive qualitative method with feministic ideological mode of literature critics approach. It uses a written form source, taken from the novel “Burung-Burung Migran” by Miranda Harlan and Sutik AS. The data is collected through a literature study and analyzed through several steps, which are (a) data selection, (b) identification and classification of the data, (c) data interpretation, which finally ends in the drawing of conclusion. The result of the study shows that the structure of the novel, “Burung-Burung Migran”, considered from the background, has nine place settings, eight time settings, and five social settings. It has ten characters, which are prominent in the story, also has fifty-five other characters. Considered from the plotting, it uses back-and-forth flow of ideas, which has four climaxes of different stages. However, the image of Sutik’s character is divided into three different aspects, they are one physical aspect, five psychological aspects, and her social aspect is subdivided into three aspects of hers in the family and three others in the society. My suggestion is that another study needs to be conducted towards this novel, from feministic gynocritics perspective. In addition to that point, in order to achieve the best result in conducting a feminist literature study, the appropriate choice of data source is a necessity.

Abstract:
AbstractBoth literary theory and biblical narrative criticism lack an articulate, comprehensive theory of character. Many Gospel critics perceive character in the Hebrew Bible (where characters can develop) to be radically different from that in ancient Greek literature (where characters are supposedly consistent ethical types). Most people also sharply distinguish between modern fiction and its psychological, individualistic approach to character and ancient characterization where character lacks personality or individuality. In Part I, we examine concepts of character in ancient Hebrew and Greek literature as well as modern fiction, arguing that although there are differences in characterization, these are differences in emphases rather than kind. It is better to speak of degrees of characterization along a continuum. In Part II, we develop a comprehensive theory of character in the Fourth Gospel, consisting of three aspects. First, we study character in text and context, using information in the text and other sources. Second, we analyze and classify the Johannine characters along three dimensions (complexity, development, inner life), and plot the resulting character on a continuum of degree of characterization (from agent to type to personality to individuality). We observe that many Johannine characters are more complex and round than has been believed so far. Third, we analyze and evaluate the characters' responses to Jesus in relation to the Fourth Evangelist's evaluative point of view, purpose and dualistic worldview.

Abstract:
The authors analyze the use of the psychological aspects of criminalistic tactics in the work of law enforcement employees. The authors identify the causes of their low effectiveness: the insufficient knowledge of investigation authorities’ employees, a psychological attitude and professional deformation. Insufficient knowledge about the use of tactic-psychological aspects of criminalistic tactics is, in its turn, caused by a number of factors. Primarily, they are professional qualities of investigators and detectives: gaps in primary training, lack of enthusiasm for professional development, mental stereotypes. An important factor is the lack of time to study extra material on criminalistics. Some factors are connected with the theory of criminalistics itself. They include the difficulty of searching for recommendations in publications, the generalized character of such recommendations and the difficulty of understanding them. Psychological attitude predetermines both the success and the low effectiveness of using the tactic-psychological techniques during some investigative actions. Negative psychological attitudes that hinder the effective use of psychological aspects in the work of the investigation bodies’ employees include: orientation on prosecution, orientation on the formal character of work, orientation on the non-achievement of the desired result. Their essence is described and the specific characteristics of their negative impact are analyzed. The negative impact that the orientation on prosecution has on the use of the psychological aspects of the investigation bodies’ employees is manifested through the initial confidence of the investigator or detective that the prosecuted person is guilty which, in its turn, makes the objective investigation of the circumstances of the case unnecessary. Orientation on the formal character of work and orientation on the non-achievement of the desired result destroy the tactic-psychological potential of the investigative actions. Professional deformation intensifies negative orientations, establishes a model of rough communication with other people, normalizes unethical and even illegal actions of an investigator or a detective. The analysis of these causes makes it possible to overcome their negative impact on the work of investigators and detectives by developing revised and specified criminalistic recommendations.

AbstractResearch findings that link personality factors to functioning and symptoms in schizophrenia are inconsistent, and further studies are needed within the area. The purpose of this study was to investigate how personality, as measured by the Temperament and Character Inventory (TCI), was related to demographic factors, subtypes of diagnoses, level of functioning, and aspects of psychological health, including sense of coherence, perceived control, and self-esteem, among people with schizophrenia. Subjects were 104 individuals, aged 20–55 years, in psychiatric outpatient care. The results indicated that personality was not related to subtypes of diagnoses or demographic characteristics of the respondents, but to level of functioning and all aspects of psychological health. Especially self-directedness distinguished three groups of functioning and was highly correlated with the different aspects of psychological health. The article discusses how knowledge of schizophrenic patients’ personality structure might be used for tailoring psychiatric treatments.

Abstract:
The current study uses a qualitative methodology to investigate socio-cultural and psychological aspects involved in the use of LSD and comparable psychedelic substances. To date, 26 narrative interviews have been conducted with 12 female and 14 male users aged 19 to 53 years. The resulting data were subjected to content analysis in several thematic areas. Subjective reports of LSD use and experiences are considered among the complex interrelationship of drug effects, individual and environmental factors, as well as in comparison to the results reported in earlier research. Preliminary results suggest the use of LSD is largely independent of the “party drugs” scene, although its users do embrace elements of alternative lifestyles and subcultures. The majority of participants report their LSD experiences to be of great importance and to have intellectual relevance for their individuation process and personality development. Exploration of the self and the desire to experience profound changes in their perception of the world are reported as primary motives for LSD use, in addition to its hedonistic value. Individual backgrounds, knowledge and patterns of reaction are found to strongly influence the character of the drug effects that are experienced. Next to a wide range of extra-pharmacological factors, various methods for actively modifying LSD induced states were discovered to determine the general character of LSD experiences. These are discussed with regard to their implications for the development of suitable harm reduction concepts.

Abstract:
AbstractThis article emphasizes the shifting paradigm of palliative care from cancer patients to vital organ failure in chronic diseases. It offers a view about a type of palliative care for patients reaching the pre-terminal phase of a chronic illness. Unlike cancer patients, time is not as sharply delineated and physical pain is not a major factor, but psychological distress is often a major component of the clinical condition. Starting from the perspective of a psychiatric consultant on medical and surgical wards, I present short clinical vignettes to introduce a discussion about psychological manifestations in patients with chronic vital organ failure. The objective is to help patients find meaning to the last stage of their life. To that effect, four key sensitive areas are presented for clinicians to assess end-of-life coping: pressure on character organization, the management of hope, mourning problems, and ill health as a screen for psychological distress.

Abstract:
Critically acclaimed writer, Ian McEwan, has been recognized as a pioneer for writing unique forms of fiction. His craftsmanship has been explained as “rational”, “controlled”, and “precise”. The narrative organization in his works brings out the human nature, which is at times, introduced as misled, confused, and guilt ridden. Influenced by Freud, McEwan has written novels which probe into the psyche of the characters so deeply that they resemble psychological case studies. It is here argued that a psychological reading can be done based on the theories of Erik Erikson; namely, identity crisis and identity formation of the characters. Furthermore, to provide a richer theoretical background, narratology is incorporated. Monika Fludernik‟s narratological novel approach sheds light on issues of misinterpretation and unreliability to further verify the psychological aspects of the work. Atonement and Enduring Love have been analyzed as evidence on the basis of theories in narratology and psychology. Finally, drawing on both theories, a new form of character representation will be manifested on identity and self-recognition.

Abstract:
The subject of this research is lexemes of the thematic group “food and food consumption” in the novel by Mikhail Saltykov-Shchedrin “The Golovlyov Family”. The object of this research is the functional yield of these linguistic units in the text. The author of the article describes the functionality of food images in literature in form of the system of oppositions “external (existential) – internal (psychological)”, and “static-dynamic”. The four functions are differentiated: external static (food image as a detail scenery), external dynamic (food image as a theme-forming element), internal static (food image as an element of portrait of the character), internal dynamic (food image characterizes the dynamics of relations between the characters). It is noted that the thought on “low functionality” of gastronomic images in a literary text, which is expressed in some research, testifies to insufficient study of such rich material. Food as a literary image, as well as the motif of food consumption in a literary text always convey semantic meaning. In the novel “The Golovlyov Family”, the words with “food” semantics serve for the formation of external, existential aspect of narration, as well as internal, psychological aspects. Images of food alongside motifs of food consumption are characterological (describing portrait of the character) to a lesser degree, and more often used for demonstrating relationships between the characters.

Abstract:
Literary work tries to describe human life, not only in relation to other humans, but also in relation to itself through the relationship of inner events. One form of literary work is novel. The birth of the novel is the creative result of the author in processing a story about life complete with various conflicts in it. Because this research is intended as a study of literary psychology to achieve the psychological aspects of the main character in the novel Hati Suhita by Khilma Anis, what will be put forward is the structure of the story which is closely related to the psychological exposure of the main character. The story structure is the characters and characterizations. As well as the story setting. Qualitative method. Namely, research procedures that produce qualitative descriptive data in the form of written or spoken words from people and observed behavior. How as much data as possible will be able to become the subject of research depends on the use of research techniques. While the approach is a literary assessment perspective. The approach is the scope of literary research. The form, content, and nature of literature as the subject of study. Until now, it seems that in literary research there is often confusion between the use of the terms method, technique and approach. As a result, there are overlapping areas of literary research. The method should involve the operational means of research. The method requires research steps that are worth following. The research results found by the researcher were in the form of the character of the main character and psychological conflicts in Khilma Anis' novel Hati Suhita. Suhita's character is good, tawadhu, smart. Al Birruni is firm, easy to change. Rengganis beautiful, smart. Aruna is good, cheerful. Kang Dharma is calm, mature. And the psychological conflict of Suhita's character is sad. Al Birruni didn't have the heart, Rengganis knew himself, Aruna was sad, and Kang Dharma was calm. In connection with conducting the research, the writer suggests that: first, literary reviewers are advised to examine more deeply the implicit and explicit values in Khilma Anis' novel Hati Suhita, because then we as readers can understand the author's message and his work in totality.

Abstract:
One of the most important conditions for the education to be targeted to the requirements of modern times, as well as to be suitable for social orders, is determining the effective training technologies. Many socio-cultural institutions, including the training models of the traditional-cultural institutions and the traditional models of knowledge transfer can be urgent and effective in determining the effective learning technologies. In this sense, folklore has a great potential of use in the application of modern educational technologies with its own functional capabilities that played an important role during many centuries in the interaction of some individuals with one another, in the socialization of people and in the self-formation of society. It is known that in the traditional-cultural environment there were institutional aspects and structures of knowledge transfer. Before the appearance of the written language in the oral communication level the information, i.e. the gained experience and knowledge were passed with the empiric models from generation to generation by old people, wise elders who were the institutional aspects of the traditional culture. The training technologies of the traditional culture have the following peculiarities: Unlike the religious training technologies, it is not dogmatic, it has a democratic nature. Taking into consideration the vital situations it has an operative adaptation character. It has a character of getting and transferring the knowledge empirically. It has the ability of taking into consideration the individual abilities and character in the process of incessant learning and teaching. The appearance of the Internet which is considered the “apogee” of communication has caused the formation of new transformations of traditional folk culture, virtual folklore samples as in all other spheres. Of course, in modern times at the stage when the digital resources are growing, the methods and means of getting, transferring and mastering knowledge, as a whole, the formation of education has completely changed. That is why, we consider that it is possible to use the opportunities of folklore the potential of virtual folklore and digital folklore resources, in the of lifelong education and innovative educational concepts, in getting and teaching of knowledge. Because the folklore resources have unique opportunities in formation of socio-psychological essence of personality. There is a great need for the individual to adopt the folklore of this group to freely enter and become a member of various social groups without experiencing psychological complex and tension in all spheres of society. In this sense, one of the goals of modern education is to aim the growing new generations to promote stereotypes that are in harmony with human values and to free them from non-humanist and local stereotypes.

The article shows the main characteristics of minor as a subject of administrative offense. According to administrative legislation administrative responsibility starts at 16 years. But age is not a main character of minor as a subject of administrative offense. In this case age is a reflection of child status in social relations. It presents that child can realize his actions, control and manage them. It is necessary to take into account juridical and psychological aspects, individual and age personality specifics. The level of awareness of his own actions may be the main criteria of minor administrative responsibility.

Abstract:
Introduction: growing up of a child is a process of constantly changing the structure of his subjective and objective characteristics, including the formation in ontogenesis of the image of adulthood, its development and implementation, as well as the reflection of the development of adulthood by children in the psychological and pedagogical space by participants of the educational process (parents, educators). In the framework of one of the particular hypotheses, we define the psychological and pedagogical space for the development of a rural schoolchild by the dynamics of maturation of the components of self-awareness: self-understanding, self-actualization and selfattitude. The data of an empirical study of the dynamic aspects of the maturing of schoolchildren in the space of the village, who are going through the inter-age transition, are presented. The goal is determined by the need to study the specific characteristics of growing up of rural adolescents living in the Velizhsky and Smolensk districts of the Smolensk region, who are studying in rural schools for a total of 120 people, 68 of which are boys and 52 are girls. Materials and methods: to study the structural and content characteristics of the dynamics of growing up, determined by the development of the components of self-awareness: selfunderstanding, self-actualization and self-relation, we used the following psychological tools: 1) the method of assessing the level of self-actualization of the person (SAMOAL) Kalina (1987); 2) the method of the study of self-attitude (IIA) Pantileev and V.V. Stolin (1989); 3) the method of free self-description of M. Kuhn and T. McPartland (1992). Results: the results of the study showed that adolescents in the studied sample are characterized by high self-understanding scales (χ = 7.82), which is evidence that adolescents are sensitive, sensitive to their own needs and desires, are free from psychological defenses that separate their personality from its own essence, and also not inclined to the substitution of their own tastes and evaluations by external social standards adopted in society. The data of the correlation analysis in the studied sample of adolescents self-understanding positively correlates with p <0.01 with autonomy (r = 0.47), spontaneity (r = 0.31), autosympathy (r = 0.49) and contact (r = 0, 18). High values were determined on the scales of reflected self-relation (χ = 6.05), self-value (χ = 6.89) and selfattachment (χ = 5.92). These data reflect adolescents’ perceptions that their personality, character, and activities are capable of giving others respect, sympathy, approval, and understanding; and also point to some rigidity of their «self-concept», conservative self-sufficiency, denial of the possibility and desirability of developing their self hood against the background of the characteristics of growing up. Discussion and conclusions: the content of adolescents’ self-understanding presents the realities and aspects of their own inner life that are relevant for the development of their personality. High school students seek to understand not only their personal qualities and character traits, interests and abilities, attitudes towards themselves and with other people, but also their feelings and motives, values and beliefs, life plans and goals. The process of growing up of adolescents involves the development of the main components of their self-awareness, and in this process adults can be of great help to the teenager. The data obtained are taken into account in the psychological and pedagogical support of adolescents in the socio-cultural space of the village; a program of socio-psychological training sessions has been developed, aimed at developing their self-understanding, self-actualization and self-relationship, which will ensure the development of their adult self-consciousness. There is a tendency to further research on the influence of sociocultural factors on the implementation of a particular strategy of growing up and the attitude of growing children to it at a distance of adolescence.

Abstract:
The concept of complex psychological adaptation of first-year students for student life is presented. Theories of adaptability of adolescents and adolescents and the concept of their adaptation to new minds of life and activity are generalized. The results of the empirical study of the individual-psychological qualities of the freshmen, the features of their social interaction and academic motivation are described. The experience of the psychological support of the process of adaptation of students who are internally displaced to study at a university is analyzed. Their true personal and character peculiarities, ways of adapting to the situation and responding to adverse influences from the external environment are determined. The perspective circle of researches in the field of psychological support and support of internally displaced students is outlined. Adaptation to learning has been found to be a complex process of learning the norms and rules of an educational institution, forging friendships with one-groupers, and for constructive relationships with teachers; development of strategies of educational activity and initial activity. The article determines that the adaptation of internally displaced first-year students to study should come as an active tertiary adaptation of students to the higher education institutions, in the process of developing students' skills and ability to organize their understanding, and life, the system of working with professional self-education and self-education of professionally significant qualities of personality. It has been found that the process of adaptation to university education is a complex system of transformations that occur with a person in accordance with changes in the minds of existence. The beginning of a student's life is connected with numerous social changes; replacement of existing attitudes and stereotypes; stressful situations. For some students, this can lead to the substitution of a real sense of adulthood by activities such as freedom to attend classes, unsystematic homework, and so on. All of this can, over time, be transformed into a reluctance to study, attend a school, and participate in one's social life.

Abstract:
The problem in ‘Night, Mother is the external and internal conflict of mother in her family, the reason in choosing this topic is because the fact that drama shows the two sides that the mother has. On one side, the mother has to sacrifice everything in order to keep the family well, she has to show the role model that the kid can see in herself. However, on the other side, the mother also has the weakness, there are lots of burdens, and this can lead to the climax that she has fed up with her life, and she chooses to end it all.The purpose of this writing is the suffering on of modern mothers based on psychological analysis. It was divided into external conflict of disappointment from husband and son, internal conflict of suffering because of disease, and the conflict that leads to her suicide. This analysis uses psychological theory, Daiches said that psychological theory was based on the assumption that literary work always talks about human life events because it concerns about people and their lives, it must contain psychological aspects in the story. Psychology was expected to help us to know the characters well. In the method of research, qualitative method is used because Creswell said that it is attempted to trace the source of information in the form of document which were relevant to the object of the research. In finding in this analysis, this analysis will be focused on the psychological background of the character particularly the main character. First, the external conflict of disappointment from husband and son, Jessie feels lonely after her husband and son leave her. Second, internal conflict of suffering because of disease, the other factor that causes suffering to Jessie character is the disease that has become the trigger for her to commit suicide. Third, the conflict that leads to her suicide, Jessie as the mother is strong, however she needs support from her whole family, without that support, she feels dead inside and finally chooses to commit suicide. The problems faced by modern woman are loneliness, instable family structure, and crisis in emotionality.

Abstract:
Any project is first of all a project team that implements it. It is people who have the knowledge, experience and motivation to complete the work, that are the engine without which even a perfectly planned project will remain only on paper. Therefore, project management pays much attention to the formation and methods of the project team management. And an important component in the process of forming and managing a project team is to take into account the psychological traits of each team member and determine their further impact on project implementation. This is especially important for art projects, where the team is creatively gifted people with certain psychological aspects, which are inherent for talented individuals. Identifying and analyzing the specific character traits that are usually inherent in creative people will greatly help the project manager to understand the needs and capabilities of each team member, the motivation of each person and their fears and help create the conditions for full disclosure of each talent. But at the same time, this knowledge is necessary in order to create a coordinated teamwork that will guarantee the success of any art project, regardless of its complexity and size. This is extremely necessary based on the results of the analysis, which gave the understanding that a creatively creative person is not interested in organizational work on the project in general. A creative person is completely absorbed in the creative process of creating a certain product. But organizational issues remain out of the creative person's attention only as long as the organization of the project activity does not directly concern the schedule of its work, the quality of materials or equipment with which the person has to work. Therefore, the project manager needs to build the project management process in such a way that while creating conditions for productive work of the project team, minimize risks to achieve project management goals, namely, get a product of a certain quality on time and budget.

Abstract:
Functional neuroimaging has identified a neural system comprising posterior cingulate (pCC) and medial prefrontal (mPFC) cortices that appears to mediate self-referential thought. It is unclear whether the two components of this system mediate similar or different psychological processes, and how specific this system is for self relative to others. In an fMRI study, we compared brain responses for evaluation of character (e.g., honest) versus appearance (e.g., svelte) for oneself, one's mother (a close other), and President Bush (a distant other). There was a double dissociation between dorsal mPFC, which was more engaged for character than appearance judgments, and pCC, which was more engaged for appearance than character judgments. A ventral region of mPFC was engaged for judgments involving one's own character and appearance, and one's mother's character, but not her appearance. A follow-up behavioral study indicated that participants rate their own character and appearance, and their mother's character, but not her appearance, as important in their self-concept. This suggests that ventral mPFC activation reflects its role in processing information relevant to the self, but not limited to the self. Thus, specific neural systems mediate specific aspects of thinking about character and appearance in oneself and in others.

Abstract:
The universality and significance of The Thousand and One Nights is undeniable: the complexity of the book has combined its various literary techniques to create a masterpiece which has been translated by famous figures, and has influenced many writers all around the world. The central figure of The Thousand and One Nights is its female narrator, Scheherazade, whose complex personality has a great potential to be studied. One of psychological theories which can fully present this complexity and multidimensionality is Toni Wolff's quaternity. Wolff, a Swiss analytical psychologist and one of Jung's students, is best known for her paper on four aspects or structural forms of feminine psyche, which are the Mother, the Hetaira, the Amazon, and the Medial. These four aspects, though working independently, form the feminine psyche: if they are put in a balance with each other, the personality is a complete one. The present article is an attempt to apply Wolff's structural forms of feminine psyche in Scheherazade's character: first, the basic tenets of Wolff's quaternity is presented and consequently, her views will be examined in the various stories narrated by Scheherazade, since the four aspects mentioned above are crystalized in women characters of The Thousand and One Nights.

Abstract:
The present paper attempts to closely study Virginia Woolf’s Orlando in terms of Judith Butler’s concepts of gender, performativity, and agency. Woolf examines women, their struggles and positions in literary history, and their needs for independence. Themes in her works consist of gender relations, class hierarchy, and the consequences of war. In most of her novels, she moves away from the use of plot and character and, instead, emphasizes the psychological aspects of her characters. In Orlando, the protagonist lives through centuries and Woolf allows her character to transform into a female halfway during the novel. The novel is directly engaged in the women’s position and mentality through the lines, dialogues, and events. The principal question of the present study focuses on the perspectives through which gender is presented and the way it could be observed in relation to Butler’s theory of gender as performance. The current survey is further concerned with the angles through which the novel reflects gender troubles and identity crisis of the women, conventionally defined as a minor category, according to Judith Butler’s poststructuralist approach to the analysis of identity. Consequently, there is a confluence between the development of Woolf’s female characters in the novel and Butler’s critical notion concerning the subject’s attempts to present performativity in the form of an active agent.

Abstract:
From child to young adult: The development of the main character in De koperen tuin (The garden where the brass band played) by Simon Vestdijk From an intertextual study it emerges that the postulated view of reality in the psychological-philosophical text De toekomst der religie (The future of religion) (1947) is transposed in narrative form in the text-internal vision of reality in the novel De koperen tuin (The garden where the brass band played) (1950). In both these texts the religious point of departure of the meaning of existence is reflected upon. Existential aspects especially highlighted, include the following: the I, the relationship with others, being involved in the situation, freedom, responsibility, guilt, angst, death, that which is “too-late”. Furthermore the extension of the moment, the directedness at a personal passion, and the individual’s courage to be and to keep “becoming” are also highlighted. All these aspects emphasizing existentialism are portrayed in the development of the main character, Nol Rieske, from little boy to young adult.

Abstract:
The author presents the conceptual basis of an independent trend in victimology - the victimological safety of persons sentenced to imprisonment. The independence of this trend is justified by the existence of its own subject, object, aim, its theoretical and practical relevance, which are described in this paper. It is suggested that the victimological safety of convicts should be understood as the situation when their rights are protected during their imprisonment in correctional institutions. The research of the victimological safety of convicts is necessary because correctional institutions are highly criminogenic, and inmates are potentially predisposed to be victims of criminal behavior. The author enumerates factors influencing the victimity of inmates: personal traits of convicts (light-mindedness, casual behavior, customary use of swearwords that compensate for a poor vocabulary, etc.); character of the crime for which a person is convicted; psychological climate in the community of inmates, level of law and order maintained in the correctional institution; other factors determining the status of a convict in the penitentiary social environment. The author also presents a typology of convicts who become victims of criminal infringements; characterizes inmates placed in isolation for the reasons of personal safety; enumerates the most victimogenic categories of convicts in places of confinement; points out causes and conditions that victimize the personality of a convict in correctional institutions. The results of the conducted research are used to work out the preventive measures of ensuring the victimological safety of convicts, including organizational-management, regime, investigation and search and educational-psychological work. The information of this article has a practical value and can improve the effectiveness of work aimed at ensuring the safety of inmates, as well as the general situation with law and order in Russian penitentiary institutions.

Abstract:
This paper analyses the way in which the ageing Bruno, the central character of Iris Murdoch´s Bruno´s Dream (1969), approaches his death and confronts the meaning of finitude. His last stage of life is understood as a time of reminiscence that brings up past conflicts. This study offers an opportunity to explore the moral and psychological aspects of guilt, regret and forgiveness, which trigger the process that Robert N. Butler called “life review.” It also aims to examine Murdoch’s philosophical concepts about love and her idea of unself.

Abstract:
This paper deals with anaphoric expressions in news reports. It is argued that many aspects of discourse anaphora cannot be accounted for within the dominant cognitive paradigm, where anaphoric NPs are conceived of as representations of invariant and universal psychological phenomena. As demonstrated in the paper, anaphoric NPs are intertwined with different social and ideological processes. Anaphoric NPs can for example be used to individuate the main character to a lesser or greater degree, a use that in turn can be seen as a manifestation of basic news values, such as personalization and objectivity.
