Abstract:
Addressing the specific problems of dramatic creativity, we must first determine the basic meaning of the term "drama". As we know, the word "drama" has different meanings. We also call a certain range of real events, for example, the drama of life, one of the genres of the dramatic type of literature (the noble drama of the eighteenth century) and the dramatic theater, which is the leading type of performing arts. Dramatic works are fundamentally different from other genres. As early as the 19th century, the great thinker MFAkhundov distinguished the genre of drama he brought to our literature from other genres in terms of language and style. Both in his article "Fihristi-kitab" and in his "critique" of Mirza Malkum khan's plays, he clearly showed the "conditions of dramatic art".

Abstract:
Research on the speech act of compliment is abundant; however, studies on the characteristics of compliments in Turkish, in general, and in Turkish TV dramas, in particular, are scarce. Therefore, to fill this research gap, the present study set out to investigate the use of compliments in a popular Turkish soap opera. To achieve the purposes of this research, thirty-two episodes of a TV drama called Sahra were selected at random to be viewed and analyzed while focusing on the topics, functions, and characteristics of compliments with reference to the role of gender. Four main topics and functions, and two major characteristics of Turkish compliments emerged from the analysis of the data. Similarities and differences were also found in the use of compliments in Turkish and other languages. The findings may have implications for research on speech acts, in general, and complimenting behavior in TV dramas, in particular. Keywords: Turkish compliments; TV drama; elaboration; exaggeration; gender

Abstract:
Turkey’s TV drama industry has made a quantum leap in the past decade and exported many of its dramas (dizis) to more than a hundred countries. Turkey has become the world’s second-biggest TV drama exporter after the USA in 2016. The dizi industry’s transnationalization is attributable to the tireless efforts and unique features of its associated creative industry. However, the industry has some deep problems. This paper seeks to shed light on the challenges that the Turkish TV drama industry faces. The author has conducted in-depth interviews with Producers, Directors, Scenarists, Actors and Distributors. Their replies reveal the basic characteristics and difficulties of the dizi industry and provide clues as to what needs to be done to sustain and build upon the Turkish TV drama industry’s export success.

Abstract:
Drama translation studies used to be the most neglected area in translation studies due to its prescriptive approaches and reductionist illusion of polarization of performability and readability. Corpus stylistics of drama, with the aid of computer technology as well as the understanding of the true nature of drama as the dialectical combination of both literary and theatrical characteristics, appears to be a remarkable theoretical framework and methodology for drama translation studies. The study of (im)politeness in Death of a Salesman and its two Chinese versions is undertaken as a case study. ICTCLAS and Concordance 3.0 were used to calculate the high frequent expressions concerning (im)politeness in both the original text and the Chinese versions, followed by the analysis of their stylistic function. It is found that modal particles and slang expressions in Chinese are useful to reconstruct the characterization, plot as well as performability of the translated drama. In conclusion, corpus stylistics of drama is of high feasibility in drama translation studies.

The study examined the contributions of drama as a means of disseminating information such as age, gender and educational level that are germane to patients’ attitude to health and illness. The subjects were ninety five patients of General Hospital, Ijebu-Igbo, Ogun State. They responded to the Patient-Medical Personnel Drama Scale (PMPDS) and the Attitude Towards Health and Illness Scale (ATHIS). Step-wise multiple regression analysis was used for data analysis and the results revealed that drama, as a means of communication made the most significant contribution while educational level came up in step two. “Age” and “gender” did not make any noticeable contribution. The findings indicate that more attention should be paid to improve Patient-Medical Personnel Drama.

Abstract:
The Asian drama series has reached high popularity level among local viewers since this popular culture has penetrated into our local entertainment industry. The scheduling of the government or the private television stations specific to Asian drama series has increased when the response is very encouraging from the local viewers. Viewers are an important commodity in the capitalist system whereby when a cultural product obtains high viewing rating, automatically the popularity is also going to be high. Thus, for these Asian dramas series to achieve popularity, they need to draw the interest and demand of viewers in this region, where it can be explained through the concept of regionalization. Regionalization gives the priority to the psychology and phenomenon about the cultural approach and the cultural discount. This concept justifies the phenomenon of Asian drama series popularity in the Asian region. The content analysis and interview have been used in this study to analyze the elements contained in the Asian drama series, and whether or not they contribute to their popularity also perspective from local drama producers towards this phenomenon. Similarities in terms of the theme, characterization and narratives contained in the popular Asian drama series in this current work are the method and approach adopted in this work to reduce the cultural discount whereby through this similarity it has started to build the identity and characteristics of the Asian drama series seen as accepted and welcome by Asian viewers- something which is known as the cultural approach. The outcome of the study also shows that from the mainstream theme, good scripts, the right choice of artists and appropriate theme songs in the drama that they contribute to high popularity and altogether leave an impact to the Malaysian TV industry. Producers are in full authority not only in executive work but also in terms of the creativity. The decision made by a producer of a drama is vital to render a drama series a success.

Full text
Abstract:
This dissertation examines the role of stage properties-props, slangily-in the construction and expression of characters' identities. Through readings of both canonical and non-canonical drama written between 1600 and 1707-for example, Thomas Middleton's The Revenger's Tragedy (1607), Edward Ravenscroft's adaptation of Titus Andronicus (1678), Aphra Behn's The Rover (1677), and William Wycherley's The Plain Dealer (1677)-I demonstrate how props mediate relationships between people. The control of a character's props often accords a person control of the character to whom the props belong. Props consequently make visual the relationships of power and subjugation that exist among characters. The severed body parts, bodies, miniature portraits, and containers of these plays are the mechanisms by which characters attempt to differentiate themselves from others. The characters deploy objects as proof of their identities-for example, when the women in Behn's Rover circulate miniatures of themselves-yet other characters must also interpret these objects. The props, and therefore the characters' identities, are at all times vulnerable to misinterpretation. Much as the props' meanings are often disputed, so too are characters' private identities often at odds with their public personae. The boundaries of selfhood that the characters wish to protect are made vulnerable by the objects that they use to shore up those boundaries. When read in relation to the characters who move them, props reveal the negotiated process of individuation. In doing so, they emphasize the correlation between extrinsic and intrinsic worth. They are a measure of how well characters perform gender and class rolls, thereby demonstrating the importance of external signifiers in the legitimation of England's subjects, even as they expose "legitimacy" as a social construction.

Abstract:
The aim of this thesis is to ascertain how primary school teachers would like to improve their mathematics teaching. The central questions for this research are: In what ways do teachers want to improve their mathematics teaching? How do the teachers justify their statements? What main features can be distinguished out of the teachers answers? Three interviews and seven surveys have been used to collect information from a total of nine teachers, at one primary school. Teaching pupils from preschool to sixth grade. The results have been analysed, interpreted and discussed using a drama pedagogical perspective, inspired by a holistic approach to learning. In order to investigate connections between drama pedagogic and holistic perspectives on learning in the teachers’ answers, three main characteristics of drama pedagogic usage have been defined: To embody (meaning: to act and/or create); Process (meaning: learning takes time and seeks deep understanding); Play (meaning: joyful activity which involves relatively little supervision by the teacher). The results show that teachers would like to work in more practical ways, where investigative and experimental activities are more commonplace. Although not supported by all responses, a significant majority of respondents expressed belief in working methods, and reasoning about learning, with fundamental connections to a drama pedagogic and holistic perspective on learning. This thesis concludes that the teachers surveyed believe in embodiment actions as a learning medium, and that knowledge can be highlighted by the principles of process.

Abstract:
The undeniable development of the television series sector in recent years has resulted in viewers having access to a large amount of television content, thanks largely to the development of technologies such as the internet and the emergence of video on demand. Given the scarcity of academic works that categorise these television contents, this chapter comes to conceptually delimit the television drama genre, as well as its different sub-genres. With this, the authors seek to centralise in a single academic work the main characteristics of each dramatic sub-genre that causes a series to be ascribed to a certain category, serving as a guide for potential academic works related to this growing sector.

Abstract:
Through close readings of male images in a recent TV drama Love Me, If You Dare, the chapter examines how these transnational male images exhibit hybridity and negotiation between global and local discourses of masculinity and how national identity is constructed through negotiation of the meaning of gender. Images like white-collar professionals and returnees from overseas show a conspicuous desire to represent Chinese men in a cosmopolitan fashion and to link masculinity with modernity. In representations of this “transnational business masculinity,” Western lifestyle is represented as a middle-class status symbol and an indicator of knowledge of the world and modernity. The chapter argues that the cosmopolitan masculinity squares with the state’s agenda of building a modern and cosmopolitan image of the country and, in particular, its educated younger elite. Male images in China’s recent television programs display increasing transnationality and a paradoxical coterminosity between cosmopolitan fantasy and nationalist pride, which indicates the fault lines of the confidence and anxiety when China faces the world.

Abstract:
This chapter illustrates the importance of and best practices for creating, implementing and sustaining inclusive communities for students through process based drama. Using narratives, stories from the field, and examples of student growth and learning, the chapter defines ways to artistically serve emerging learners through the use of drama within a variety of inclusive settings. A key focus of the chapter is the exploration of ways to adapt the creative process of drama to meet the specific needs of youth with autism in an inclusive learning environment. Characteristics and descriptions of program elements include: a) the use of key drama elements to support creative sensory awareness, movement, pantomime, characterization and story to support creative expression in inclusive settings and b) best practices for enhancing and expanding the emerging learners' abilities to engage in pretend play, communicate non-verbally, share an idea dramatically, assume a role beyond self, and promote positive social interactions. Guidelines for reflecting on student engagement and exploration are also presented.

Abstract:
The intention with this study is to examine and develop the discourse of arts in education and applied drama/theatre in relation to democracy, in particular the concept of “post-democracy” (Crouch, 2004, 2016; Mouffe, 2009; Rancière, 1999; Swyngedouw, 2011). Post-democracy is a concept that holds a critical view on current societies, describing conditions of economic, ecological and social crisis including boredom, frustration, oppression, apathy, disillusion and violence. We have identified a few key characteristics and challenges within a post-democratic society, such as “consensus”, “fictionalization” and “paradoxicality”. In this chapter, we are interested to see how such characteristics may influence individual democratic life, and how drama/theatre in education can respond to those key characteristics and influences. We argue that such responses concern the working procedures and production formats, as well as the recognition of the social and political role of arts education. This relation of art and society asks for aesthetic platforms that allow young people to explore felt issues of (post-)democracy on the individual and/or the collective level. It furthermore asks for a social responsibility and an ethics which are autonomous to the critical, artistic participant, ethics perhaps different from the ethical expectations distributed by neoliberal society. This is shown by two cases of performance that also solve the potential relation and political role by blurring art and social activism.

This chapter investigates flute performance as a space for exploring the relationship between tradition and innovation and traces the characteristics of the nohkan and its music. It examines the musical structure and nohkan melodic patterns of five traditional Noh plays. It also assesses the degree to which Issō School nohkan players maintain the continuity of their musical tradition in three contemporary Noh plays inspired by the twentieth-century Irish poet William Butler Yeats. The chapter reviews three contemporary works draw upon Yeats's At the Hawk's Well, which was influenced by Noh drama. The chapter argues that traditions of musical style and usage remain vastly influential in shaping contemporary Noh composition and performance practice, and that the freedom within fixed patterns can be understood through a firm foundation in Noh tradition.

Group affiliation is typically objectified in physical things like uniforms, a flag, or family totems. These things stand for and are placeholders of our alliances. This is particularly evident in the kind of blind-spot inferences we tend to make regarding in-group as opposed to out-group intrinsic elusive characteristics, presumably inherent to race and national identity. Both are ready-made constructs, but with no objective biological or even sociohistorical essential features. Indeed, what defines a Black person or a Russian, except for skin color, geographic birth, or a passport? Anything but the intrinsic characteristics we infer and amplify from such surface features, guiding us blindly toward categorical attitudes and short-cut moral decisions. The spectacular drama of team competition, gang wars, and other intergroup conflicts represents an opportunity for players, fans, gang members, and other protagonists to express and assert essential characters of their in-group and reveal essential characters of the out-group. It is an opportunity to probe alliances and for protagonists to emulate the extent to which they belong and merit membership to the group.

Abstract:
This contribution analyses short biographies written by pre-service infant and primary school teachers about fictional women in history. The pieces of writing were produced by upper-intermediate English learners within a project carried out in two different classes, and in which reading, storytelling, and creative writing were combined with the main purpose of contributing to women's empowerment and visibility in society as well as writing and oral skills' development. In this regard, students read a selected group of biographies, and, later, they created their own fictional biography in which language use, drama—storytelling—and arts were utilised. For the analysis of the stories, attention is paid to the fictional elements introduced (validity of the story, interiority in the main character/s, and narrative congruence, among others), and the presence of adjectives which tend to be attached to female characteristics. In general, the results have shown that there is not a direct relationship between fictional elements and female stereotypes in the stories.

Abstract:
This chapter provides an overview of the premiership of Boris Johnson between July and December 2019, detailing the progress of Brexit negotiations and the General Election – events that shaped the final trajectory of Brexit but also in all probability the course of Britain’s future for the coming decades. The events described are thus literally nation defining. Brexit from its inception in 2016 had brought to society and politics extreme convulsions, drama and chaos and those characteristics were especially evident in the Johnson premiership, prior to the election. The former Prime Minister David Cameron was moved to describe some of the antics as “sharp practice”. Such traits were compounded by the fact that under the Johnson premiership Brexit resembled a game theory stratagem. Game theory is where individual agents or institutions are assumed to interact strategically and is a concept used in the chapter to try and decipher the machinations and tactics of a radicalised section of the political class through the application of the chicken game, madman theory and the opposition through Mexican standoff.

Abstract The capabilities of analytical transmission electron microscopy (TEM), such as high spatial resolution, micro-chemical analysis, etc., have led to an increasingly essential role for TEM-based analysis in process development, defect identification, yield enhancement, and root-cause failure analysis with the dynamic random access memory (DRAM) industry. In this article, several examples are reported to carry out the applications of TEM and secondary ion mass spectrometry on crystal defect analysis and electronic characteristics of advanced 512 Mb DRAMs.

Abstract:
The essence of the educational process is precisely in providing favorable conditions, as well as encouraging and supporting the optimal development of children. It should contain a certain sequence of operations and contents to accelerate and enhance development, but at the same time to be flexible, adaptable and open to children’s needs, interests and opportunities. Preschool education is the first, the most important step in forming a relationship to the general culture of an environment, to music and art in general. Accordingly, an important goal in planning any music program for children is to recognize their interests and attitudes toward different musical activities. One of the goals of Basis of the Program – Years of Ascent, for children to develop dispositions for lifelong learning such as openness, curiosity, resilience, reflexivity, perseverance, self-confidence and a positive personal and social identity, is similar to the goal of Reggio Emilia’s approach in which children are viewed as active authors of their own development, i.e. that they will learn everything they need to learn, at the moment they are ready for it. Learning is focused on children – on their competencies, not on their shortcomings. The approach is based on the idea that each child has “a hundred languages” to express the characteristics of the world around him/her. Children are developing and are encouraged to symbolically represent ideas and feelings through any of their hundred languages (expressive, communicative and cognitive), words, movements, drawings, painting, creativity, sculpture, play, collage, drama, music, etc. Approach Reggio Emilia emphasizes the importance of the process of researching and using art in the social environment. Children acquire knowledge and abilities to express their thoughts and ideas through creation. Therefore, the paper discusses the possibility of integration of contents and activities from the Reggio Emilia approach in preschool music education, with aim to improve it.

Abstract:
Abstract Body effect is the key characteristic of DRAM cell transistor. Conventional method uses a TEG structure for body effect measurement. But this measurement is not accurate, because TEG structure has only several transistors and it is located outside of the DRAM die. This paper suggests a viable method for measuring DRAM cell transistor body effect. It uses a memory test system for fast, massive, nondestructive measurement. Newly developed method can measure 100,000 DRAM cell body effects in two minute, without sample damage. The test gives one median value and 100,000 individual values of body effects. Median value of measured body effects is equal to the TEG body effect. An individual DRAM cell body effect has a correlation with the fin height.

Abstract:
Abstract As microelectronic feature sizes are scaled down, the characteristics and distribution of DRAM data retention time and write recovery time are getting worse. This degradation is due to the increases in the leakage current and resistance of the cell node and the decrease of cell capacitance in DRAM devices. As the physical distance between storage nodes decreases, node potential is increasingly affected by small potential changes in adjacent storage nodes. In this paper, we will show that the one of the most dominant contributors to failure is the adjacent storage node level, and we will demonstrate how node level affects write time delay. The effect of the adjacent storage node level can be correlated with a change in threshold voltage, much like the MOSFET body effect. We define this phenomenon as the lateral body effect, and propose a model for adjacent potential effect using the Buried Cell Array Transistor (BCAT) structure in sub 20nm DRAM.

Abstract:
Abstract Rapid and accurate root cause analysis of the defect contributes to improvement in yield and quality in semiconductor manufacturing system. In particular, imperfection of final test can cause major problems for customers, so analysis on root cause of final test failure is important activity for high quality. It can be started with finding first test data which is highly correlated with final test failure. However, it is difficult to analyze the correlation of first test data and final test failures because the first test is made up of hundreds of test items, and the data also show non-parametric characteristics with extreme outlier. In this study, Kolmogorov-Smirnov test (K-S test), which is a non-parametric test method, is statistically applied to the first test data. The K-S test is intuitive and descriptive, which makes it easy to analyze the root cause. And K-S test showed a performance improvement compared to t-test statistic, which requires a normal distribution assumption. Therefore, our data mining approach can help analysis to improve yield and quality of mass production with highly scaled devices.
