The following work deals with a different approach in teaching grammar which is designed to facilitate learning by stimulating several senses and by strengthening cognitive development through interaction with others. The purpose is to investigate if it is possible to use charades as a pedagogical method when it comes to learning elements of grammar such as: subject, predicate, object predicative, predicative, adverbial modifier and attribute.
The essay is based upon seven different lessons once a week with a class of ninth graders where the dramatisation of clauses took place. Not only have the students kept a log for the sake of the study, but there were also four interviews with different students as well as observations of them. For different reasons it is my belief that the study’s target group is not a representative class of ninth graders.
The result of this investigation shows that charades as a method for learning grammar, within the confines of the study, was not a successful method for the chosen group. Moreover it is also clear that the method has to be complemented with teaching material other than only charades in order to give students extra support.
However, based on a successful previous experience with another class where charades were used to teach grammar, I can make the conclusion that it is possible to use charades for the purpose of teaching grammar; especially as a way to compliment and vary traditional grammar teaching. This method helps reach students and thus stimulate their learning process.

Purpose/Aim: The aim is to study how people construct their own identities today. I want to understand and study how such a central thing as identity is being constructed, in a place which offers members to freely present themselves, the community Facebook.
Material/Method: Through Internet based interviews and observations I approach the inner worlds of my informants. Using semiotics I can detect underlying meanings. My theoretical base consists of modernist and postmodernist perspectives among others. Gidden’s theory of the self narrative, Butler’s queer theory, the theory of articulation represented by Stuart Hall, Gauntlett’s model of objects and intersectionality represented by Nina Lykke among others.
Main results: The main result is that people do not actively construct identity in one way on the Internet. They do it in several ways, deliberately and non deliberately. Identity construction today is very fragmented, like the world we live in. People choose their own ways to present themselves, and the ways they do it vary. But people are often aware of the fact that they do present themselves, they’ve just not been reflecting over who they present.
Key words: Identity, the self, the subject, construction of identity, modernity, postmodernity, Facebook, Giddens, Butler, queer theory, articulation, the model of objects, intersectionality, interviews, observation, semiotics.

Full textFollowing the devastation UN peacekeeping experienced in the 1990s, the United Nations Panel on Peace Operations wrote a report, known as the Brahimi Report, that contained twenty key recommendations as how to make peacekeeping more effective and efficient. These recommendations addressed certain fundamental flaws in peacekeeping practices and procedures. This paper discusses the purpose behind several key recommendations and examines the political and internal debate surrounding their implementation. It addresses the effect of the Brahimi Report on UN reform and concludes that the Brahimi Report has spurred a long needed examination of peacekeeping and has influenced progress in most areas, even though most of the actual suggestions of the Panel were not followed
