Full textNowadays, in electric industrial trucks, two distinct power converters are used : on the one hand a speed controller and on the other hand a battery charger. The aim of the study is to use the existing components (speed controller) to realize a battery charger in order to reduce the cost and improve performances. To undertake this study, two industrial trucks have been selected : a transpallet with DC motorization and a fork lift truck with AC motorization. After a brief reminder on the technologies and standards to respect (harmonic pollution, galvanic isolation), the choice of the topology was made on the CUK converter with a galvanic isolation for the transpallet and on a P. W. M. Inverter/rectifier for the fork lift truck. A mechanical study for the two industrials trucks has allowed to conclude on the effectiveness from the regenerative braking. In order to analyse the influence of a charging current with a sinusoidal perturbation on the performances of the lead-acid battery, the electrical model has been introduced. For the transpallet, the full analyse (dimensioning, dynamical model, snubber) of the CUK converter has been done. For the fork lift truck, the induction motor is directly coupled at the main wheel and it is used like as a transformer during the charge of the battery. A dimensioning study of the motor has been presented and its interaction with the P. W. M. Inverter/rectifier has been analysed

Full textDuring the Seventeenth Century, charity was considered as the "queen of all virtues" and as a concept embodied, the triumph of good works in opposition to the protestant’s sola fide. The iconography of this virtue proliferated as a consequence and was not only represented by the "Seven works of mercy" but also allegorized as a breastfeeding maternal figure. When analyzed, the seemingly harmonious codified images reveal to be an extraordinary source of interpretation as they were subjected to various adaptations in France. Their ambiguous deviations were encouraged by the renewal of catholic spirituality and the rise of absolute power. This thesis aims to examine the iconography of charity towards the poor during this period which has been described as the “Century of Saints”. It propose to reread these polysemic images, whether they be religious, political or purely aesthetical to discern the messages which they were invested with and to distinguish the significant and equivocal shifts they expressed, from the purest spiritual sentiment to the most disturbing eroticism

Full textAt the end of the nineteenth century, three French companies of the Red Cross appear. These humanitarian organizations are auxiliaries of the Health Service of the Armed. Men and women volunteers care for the wounded French soldiers. Volunteers are women nurses, auto conductive, etc. Gradually they become necessary and essential in the overall functioning of the Red Cross. In the eyes of senior military officers, doctors and men of the Red Cross, they make themselves indispensable by their zeals, their devotion, their sacrifices particularly during the war between France and Napoleon III of Prussia (1870-1871), for the first time really in the Great War (1914-1918) and World War II (1939-1945). In peacetime, women are versatile. They raise funds, weave networks with local populations, economic and political circles. They recruit new volunteers for the next train as a nurse. These women belong to the upper classes of the nobility and bourgeoisie. They replace their male counterparts when they are understaffed in certain functions and over time. They allow the Red Cross to continue to assurer their missions for the wounded fighters, victims of natural disasters and epidemics. Women involved in the Red Cross have an extraordinary destiny

Full textThe purpose of this thesis is to shed light on the centrality of the heart in the dynamic of Augustinian subjectivityand intersubjectivity. It aims to regain, following the works of Augustine, the profound sense of the heart assource and center governing all functions and potentialities of the subject: intellectual, willing, emotional andperceptive. The heart is also investigated as an articulating core of an apophatic anthropology, as a space whichhides an incomprehensible deepness in the iconic constitution of the human being. Thus, the impenetrablemystery of the self is always situated in a primordial relationship with the mystery of its Archetype, and thisopens to the experience of the intersubjectivity. The second part of this research is dedicated to considering how,in Augustine’s conception, the cor becomes a space of resonance of intersubjective encounters with the othersand with God. Caught between the mystery of the other’s heart and the thirst of the other’s presence, the hearthosts an essential tension which projects the self towards the other resembling itself. However clarifying thesignification of this tension requires a new glimpse at the themes of friendship and charity. The last part of mystudy is devoted to the routes of the heart towards the accomplishment of the self in reciprocal hospitalitybetween the created and the Uncreated. This spiritual pilgrimage introduces us in the interior cult assumed withinthe heart. In this way the self, while totally consumed in the sacrifice of its heart, is reestablished in its liturgicalbeing

. It is here claimed that Islam and nationalist-conservative discourse serve the internalisation and tranquillisation of poverty in the programmes. The study also analyses the visual and aural representations of the poor in the programmes. The slow-motion, black and white photographs, close-up, limited motion, and the music accompanying the pictures are the most fundamental tools of dramatising poverty in the charity programmes
and they address to &ldquo

Full textFrom the XIIIe century, the diocese of Geneva has organized an hospital structure according to criteria's which are specifics, in direct relation with its rural land and landscape. Geography, mixing areas of high and middle moutain and fertile valleys, is one of the element of this disposal. A total absence of establishments of importance but the presence of quite a number of hospitals in the country or in small towns, often administration centers, are typical of our study. Simultaneously to the hospitals, structures have been devoted exclusively to the healing of leper appear, like eveywhere in western Europe : leproseries. The elaboration of an inventory of the existing hospitals and leprosarium has been the spine of our work. This has allowed us to study geographical location and frequency of their founding. With this goal in mind, the testamentary documentation, but above all the important administrative documentation in Geneva country and Savoy (accounting of castellanies, district collectors and "hôtel des princes" more than 1000 rolls) have been taken in account. Two other sources of great interest, pastoral visits and hospital book keeping in the XVe century allow us to go beyond of a purely functional and economical study of hospitals and more widely leprosaries. In spite of financial means relatively limite, the poor can find a minimum of comfort in these small structures that shelter seldom over 10 beds. A knowledge of medieval indigence gives a human vision of our work. The majority of the hospitals in the diocese of Geneva has in fact limited itself to house mainly travelers, many along the road Geneva-Chambéry, sometimes pregnant women, rarely sick people, and then had not a medical role of first importance. However, if the means used are considerably different from one institution to the other, goals and cultural and religious traditions that are part of them do not differ in their essence from the largest establishments of the time
