Abstract:
Communication is essential for human beings and we communicate globally with the means of internet every day. Internet is an interconnected mesh of networks where our data is transferred through hundreds of nodes before reaching its destination. As the intermediary network node increases, the risk of losing confidentiality and integrity is also affected. Decentralized Chat (DChat) is a chat service on the Interplanetary File System (IPFS) peer-to-peer protocol where users can communicate with ephemeral chats under any anonymous alias. The users are not aware of real identity of each other and the chats are lost from the service once the node is disconnected. The data is tamper-resistant because to alter it would change the hash and invalidate it from the network. Here we aim to develop a secure chat service that provides anonymity and ephemeral chats using cost-effective IPFS technology.

Abstract:
Communication, discussion, and file sharing between divisions in a company is something every employee often does. The problem in this research is that not all users are connected smoothly so that it hinders communication and file transfers and in communication between divisions they have to install various applications on cellphones and PC users. This reduces the duration of time and efficiency in work. To solve this problem, a web-based chat application was designed. Because the development of these applications must use a good and structured design. Web-based chat application was created to solve this problem. This web-based application can be accessed via a web browser without having to install the application on a cellphone or laptop user. Based on the design of a web-based chat application that has been created, it is expected to be a solution for discussing, communicating and sharing files between employees in a company. In addition, it is useful to keep in touch and share files without having to install applications on cellphone or laptop users. The result of this research is that this web-based chat application can be a solution to keep communicating between employees who have difficulty accessing the internet.

Abstract:
The Internet has become something important in the communication development. One communication facilities on the Internet is the Internet relay chat or known as chat. Chat applications in real time is often misused for the purpose of spreading the virus, promotions, and other interests known as spam. Spamming is the sending of unwanted messages by someone who has a chat account. This causes the chat account feel uncomfortable with the condition. Based on these problems this research create a chat application that can filter messages or spam filtering by applying text mining. Spam filtering process can be done in two phases: text pre-processing and analyzing. These two phases are carried out to calculate the weight (W) of connectedness with the word spam messages. Based on the results of tests performed on chat applications by applying text mining to perform filtering on spam messages generate the level of accuracy of 91.41%.

Abstract:
Securing confidential information on mobile platforms has been, is, and will be a topical issue for specialists. In order to eliminate these vulnerabilities, specialized companies have made some patches, but these do not constitute a real guarantee that the same or any other applications will not be attacked and exploited without the users' will. Mitigating these attacks on smartphones can be achieved by securing mobile phones from both users and mobile providers. This article proposes the development of a chat application on the Android platform as a solution to ensure the security of digital data that is transferred through the available communication platforms. When designing this mobile application, the sudden increase in the number of users was taken into account so that the application is stable and creates a pleasant experience for them.

Abstract:
Resultatet av arbetet inne-bär, vid eventuell framtida lansering, bättre förutsättningar för handläggare att effektivare utföra sittarbete, vilket medför att tiden för ärendehantering kan reduceras.<br>Municipality, large enterprises and companies are using more and more automated processes forprocedures such as service recovery and customer services. Flexeurope AB is a company speciali-zed in business process automation and it has several years of experience of defining, visualizing, constructing and optimizing processes. The company is also developing a commercial web basedapplication for managing processes called flexiteBPMS. Within a municipality or enterprise it is not unusual that a large amount of administrators and caseworkers are dealing with processes and errands. In large organizations, who may consisting of up toa hundred case workers, the communication possibilities are vital for the work effectiveness, whenadministrators needs information from each other. Due to this realization Flexeurope AB have recei-ved requests of enabling another type of communication in flexiteBPMS. As a result of the above described background, this work have studied, planned and carried outan integration of a XMPP based instant messaging system, called chat, with flexiteBPMS. The final, integrated system enables peer-to-peer conversation in real time between case workers and offers thepossibility to save a chat conversation in flexiteBPMS, either as a message linked to an errand or as anew errand connected to a process. The result of this work, in case of a possible future launch, wouldinduce for administrators to work more effective and in course of time this means a reduced time forhandling of a matter.

Abstract:
<p>Today, tele-conference technology has been widely used in various areas, especially in the business domain; a number of software applications have been developed based on this technology. However, most of these applications are designed for enterprise use. As a pioneer in the mobile communication field, Ericsson AB decided to develop a mobile application prototype, named Ericsson Geo Chat system (EGCS), which can be used on any java-supported mobile phones and the main purpose of this product is for entertainment. The entire project was divided into two individual development phases. As a sub-project, this report only developed and implemented the first phase. During this phase, EGCS implemented the chat functionality by sending text messages. The map was added to the chatting system with more visual feedbacks. EGCS also allowed creating visual chat rooms as a red square that can be located and displayed on the map. By using the navigation tool, only one chatting room can be selected. The actual location of the user was traced by the Global Position System (GPS). As soon as the user enter the room, they can start the text message chatting. In this report, the theoretical frameworks, the train of thought of the system design, the overview of the development process, and the testing of prototype are described.</p>

Abstract:
<p>Mobile applications, which have been widely used, are influencing our daily lives more and more deeply. A considerable number of advanced technologies and innovative experiments are being undertaken by developers in order to bring more convenience and enjoyment to people. One of the hot investigations in mobile applications is map based services for smart phones.</p><p>This thesis will address the implementation of a map-based chat application for iPhone subscribers named GeoChat, which has been previously developed using Java ME. As implied by the name, a user can search and join chat rooms on geographical locations, and talk with the others who are interested in this location too. A user is also allowed to create chat rooms and propose topics for the places according to his or her preferences.</p><p>Since the development of iPhone application is not as fledged as that of Java ME, a comparison between the development processes of iPhone SDK and Java ME will be presented after introducing the implementation procedure of GeoChat on iPhone, through which we can learn advantages from these two development platforms and achieve more with less effort in the future.</p>

Abstract. This thesis presents a customer service chat application: Livezhat mobile application. Its purpose is to allow customer service representatives chat with website visitors in real time, independent of the location. We examine the functional requirements of such an application. The requirements are: interactivity, enhancing customer relationships and satisfaction, good quality and fulfilling a need. The application is communicating with two servers to provide notifications and enable information exchange. It was found to enhance customer relationships with its quality and interactivity. According to survey evaluation, the application was easy to use and appealing. Out of two customers who used the application during a test period, one used the application rather much. Other feedback from the evaluation provided us a chance to improve the application in the future. The thesis’ contributions are: the design, implementation and evaluation of a novel customer service chat application used in mobile devices. Arviointikyselystä saatu muu palaute antoi meille mahdollisuuden parantaa sovellusta tulevaisuudessa. Diplomityön työpanostus on: uuden mobiililaitteissa käytettävän asiakaspalvelun chat-sovelluksen suunnittelu, toteutus ja arviointi.

Abstract:
Instant messaging (IM) applications are one of the most popular applications for smartphones. The IMs have the capability of sending messages or initiating voice calls via Internet which makes it almost cost free for the users to communicate with each other. Unfortunately, like any other type of applications, majority of these applications are vulnerable to malicious attacks and have privacy issues. The motivation for this thesis is the need to identifying security services of an IM application and to design a secure system for any mobile messaging application. This research proposes an E2EE (End-to-End Encryption) approach which provides a secure IM application design which protects its users with better integrity, confidentiality and privacy. To achieve this goal a research is conducted to investigate current security features of popular messaging applications in the mobile market. A list of requirements for good security is generated and based on those requirements an architecture is designed. A demo is also implemented and evaluated.

Abstract:
Context: Chat applications have been around since the beginning of the modern internet. Today, there are many different chat systems with various communication solutions, but only a few utilize the fully decentralized Peer-to-Peer concept. Objectives: In this report, we want to investigate to see if a fully decentralized P2P concept is a suitable choice for chat applications. In order to investigate, a P2P architecture was selected and a simulation was implemented in Java. The simulation was used to make a performance evaluation in order see if the P2P concept could meet the requirements of a chat application, and to identify problems and difficulties. Methods: Two main methods were used in this thesis. First, a qualitative design method was used to identify and discuss different possibilities of designing a distributed chat application. Second, a performance evaluation was conducted to verify the selected and implemented mechanisms are able to obtain their general performance capabilities and to tune them towards anticipated performance. Results: The simulation proved that a decentralized P2P system can scale and find resources in a network quite efficiently without the need of any centralized service. It also proved to be simpler for the user to use the P2P concept, as no special configurations are needed. However, the selected protocol (Chord) had problems with high rates of churn, which could cause problems in big chat environments. The P2P concept was also shown to be highly complex to implement. Conclusion: P2P technology is a more complex technology, but it gives the host a lower cost in terms of hardware and maintenance. It also makes the system more robust and fault-tolerant. As we have seen in this report, P2P can scale and find other resources efficiently without the need of a centralized service. However, it will consume more power for each user, which makes mobile devices bad peers.

Abstract:
Today, it appears that information leaks and security breaches are common occurrences. The authors of this project consider security and privacy to be a very vital part regarding technical concepts, something that is being looked past way too much. The authors have in earlier courses during their studies at Mid Sweden University taken part of studies that shows that the average users want to protect their information, but at the same time, has trouble understanding how products handle said information. This led the authors of this report to develop an encrypted application with a user's privacy and ease of understanding in mind. The user should understand that their information is safe and why it is safe. The purpose of the project was to build a chat application with security of sent messages, minimal data collection and ease of use as top priorities. The goals of the project include together with the principles mentioned earlier that users with an interest should have security information easily available, messages should be cryptographically secure and that replacement of a user’s keys should be an easy process. During the project two iterations of user tests were done to ensure that the application was as easy to use as possible. The results of these tests are used to get insight into users' understanding and interest in information related to message encryption. The results are also used to reach a conclusion to whether the goals of the project have been reached. The results of the user tests point to users not caring a lot about the availability of information about used encryption methods, however the users that had an interest for this found the available information relatively easy to understand. After changes based on the feedback from the first iteration of user tests, most users found the application easy to use and intuitive. To compare security of sent messages comparisons are done with leading applications in encrypted communication, these applications include WhatsApp, Viber and Facebook Messenger.<br>Idag tycks informationsläckor i olika former ske frekvent med jämna mellanrum.

Abstract:
DYAMO is a company who strive to empower students to succeed in their studies by setting them up with a mentor that the student can depend on for motivation and help. Furthermore, the students should be able to stay anonymous to the mentors. However, DYAMO does not yet have their own platform to work with. This report will serve as a rundown of how the app, specifically made for DYAMO, was developed. This will later be compared to the initial expectations set out before work on the app started. Finally, there will be some suggestions for what could be further developed in the app for the future. The app serves as a place where an adept (student) can communicate with their mentor by sending texts, files (including images and video) and receive reward-stickers. The responsibility of assigning and managing these conversations lies with the admins and moderators. A school management system is also in place, making it easier to manage and delegate responsibilities within said schools. The app mostly delivered on the final expectations, which exceeded the initial somewhat conservative expectations. The one thing not achieved being that notifications on some devices do not work with the app in the background.<br>DYAMO stravar efter att mojliggora for studenter att lyckas med sina studier genom att para ihop dem med en mentor som studenten kan lita p_a for motivation och hjalp. Studenten ska dessutom kunna forbli anonym gentemot mentorn, dock har inte DYAMO annu n_agon egen app att utfora detta med.
