Abstract:
The evaluation of new reagents and instruments in clinical chemistry leads to complex studies with large volumes of data, which are difficult to handle. This paper presents the design and development of a program that supports an evaluator in the definition of a study, the generation of data structures, communication with the instrument (analyser), online and offline data capture and in the processing of the results. The program is called CAEv, and it runs on a standard PC under MS-DOS. Version 1 of the program was tested in a multicentre instrument evaluation. The concept and the necessary ha

Abstract The most common evaluation criterion used by regulatory and voluntary interlaboratory proficiency testing (PT) programs to judge the quality of chemistry results is based on the group mean +/- 2.0 standard deviations (SD), the 1(2)s rule. The mean and SD are those of the selected PT population. Through computer simulations we have quantified, for the first time, the ability of the 1(2)s criterion to detect "acceptable" as well as substandard ("unacceptable") intralaboratory performance by PT. We found that the 1(2)s rule correctly identifies "acceptable" performance--i.e., low intrala

Abstract In December 1987, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) proposed to the Health Care Financing Administration revised criteria for evaluating participating laboratories' performance in proficiency-testing programs. If these criteria are accepted, they will become the minimum standard for all regulatory proficiency-testing programs. To evaluate a laboratory's performance in a clinical chemistry proficiency-testing program, the CDC proposed a combination of the use of fixed limits, multiples of the interlaboratory group standard deviations, and absolute values. It is obvious that ICT makes the process of teaching/learning more effective and beneficial whereas the education system starts functioning faster. The development of ICT and the process of globalization determine alteration in the education system as well as in the whole society. The implementation of new technologies in the educational process raises new possibilities for both teacher and learner, enhances educa-tion quality and makes the educational process more versatile. Hence, the object of research is the use of computer-based technologies in the process of teach-ing/learning sciences.

GraalVM is a new Java Development Kit developed by Oracle that promises improved performance when running Java programs. In this paper we compare the performance of both the community edition and the enterprise edition of GraalVM to OpenJDK and OracleJDK, using both Java 8 and Java 11. We use the DaCapo benchmark suite to test these JDKs. The results are analysed using statistically rigorous methodology. We find that the performance of the different JDKs vary significantly depending on the benchmark, making it difficult to draw any definitive conclusions. In the end we can see that GraalVM Ente

Based on this information, values of performance measures (such as cutting force, tool wear, cutting temperatures, chip formation and surface finish) can be estimated using theoretical or empirical models. For the aging and plant life management the integrity of the mechanical component and structure is one of the key objectives. In most cases, only a small percentage of mechanical components are subject to significant degradation, e.g. flow-accelerated corrosion which may affect this integrity or the function of the component. Flow-accelerated corrosion (FAC) is a degradation process resulting in wall thinning of piping, vessels, heat exchanger and further equipment made of carbon and low alloy steel.
