Didėjant sergamumui plaučių vėžiu Lietuvoje ir pasaulyje išlieka aktualus gydymo efektyvumo gerinimas. Plaučių vėžys dažniausiai diagnozuojamas vyresniame amžiuje. Nesmulkialąstelis plaučių vėžys sudaro apie 85 %, o smulkialąstelis plaučių vėžys – 15 % visų diagnozuotų plaučio vėžio atvejų. This paper describes the mechanisms of action of ionizing radiations combined with antineoplastic drugs. Some relevant drugs for the combined modality treatments of locally advanced lung cancer are reported. The meta-analyses including randomized trials comparing single agent (radiotherapy or chemotherapy) versus combined chemoterapy and radiotherapy in patients with unresectable non small cell lung cancer and limited small cell lung cancer are then reviewed. Gastrointestinaliniai stromos tumorai (GIST) yra retai pasitaikantys virškinamojo trakto navikai, tačiau vieni dažniausių mezenchiminių šios lokalizacijos tumorų. Dažniausiai pažeidžiamas skrandis ir plonosios žarnos, o tiesioji žarna – labai retai. Kadangi klinika nespecifinė, šie navikai gana dažnai diagnozuojami atsitiktinai. Labai retai tiesiosios žarnos vėžio metastazės plinta į varpą. Literatūros duomenimis, tokių atvejų yra aprašyta mažiau kaip 40. Prognozė yra bloga ir išgyvenamumas trumpas. Tiesiosios žarnos vėžio metastazių plitimo į varpą mechanizmas nežinomas. Populiariausia teorija yra apie retrogradinį veninį plitimą. Aprašoma keletas gydymo metodų, tačiau nė vienas nėra pranašesnis. Autoriai pristato 41 metų amžiaus vyro klinikinį atvejį.
