Abstract:
Today, socially responsible investing (SRI) represents the youngest financial-services industry that investors can exploit to implement their investment strategies. Although literature in this field is growing, additional research is needed to disentangle the factors affecting the performance of SRI funds. This paper focuses on the analysis of the influence that the depth of investment strategy by SRI funds may have on the investment performance, whereas larger SRI funds have a stronger capacity to address their investment choices. We used a sample of 149 USA SRI funds referring to the Social Investment Forum (SIF) Foundation in the period 2005-2010. We found that depth of investment strategy decreases the capacity of large SRI funds to reach positive financial returns if a broad sustainability investment strategy is pursued. On the other hand, SRI funds able to focus the attention on specific environmental, social, governance, or product criteria do increase their capacity to reach positive financial performance. This paper contributes to the existing literature by examining the depth of the sustainability investment strategy by SRI funds and investigating the moderating effect that peculiar investment strategies have on the well-known relation between size and performance of SRI funds. major-bidi;mso-bidi-theme-font:major-bidi;mso-ansi-language:EN-GB;mso-fareast-language: ZH-CN;mso-bidi-language:AR-SA'>This paper analyzes the wealth distribution taking into account the reaction of the market to the alliance as an indicator of a successful strategy. Abstract:
Chery, which used to be the leader of Chinese indigenous automobile manufacturers as well as the entry-level market, has been losing its leader position since 2010. Chery, founded in 1997, has experienced a radical expansion along with industrial liberalization and economic growth in China since 2000. In 2007, Chery started the internationalization strategy by launching two middle and high-end brands and developing a series of joint ventures consecutively. However, Chery has confronted various challenges since 2010 with the growing maturity of Chinese automobile industry, including declining domestic sales and market share, and thus was in a weak position under attack. Finally, Chery announced its tactical adjustments in April 2013. This case describes the co-evolution between the environmental transitions of Chinese automotive industry and the business strategies of Chery. Students are asked to analyze the development of Chery and provide specific suggestions of future directions on competitive strategy for Chery.

Abstract:
Abstract: This article aims to contribute to the exploration of the ways through which Malaysia—the fourth largest economy in Southeast Asia—has engaged Chinese investment to pursue industrialization. It does so by comparing and contrasting the different approaches by which two of the most important Chinese-financed automobile projects, Chery Automobile's assembly operations in 2008 and Zhejiang Geely's partial acquisition of local producer Proton in 2017, have been embedded into the Malaysian political economy. While Chery Automobile ended up with a conundrum of extremely low local sales, Zhejiang Geely has fostered mutually beneficial partnerships with Proton and its cohort of suppliers that are shaped by the industry's ethnopolitical directives. More recently, Zhejiang Geely has exported an increasingly larger proportion of vehicles from its Malaysian operations. The contrasting fate of these projects illustrates that while they are driven by Chinese money and technological know-how, they are not necessarily Chinese-dominated. It is domestic politics—the establishment of a functional politico-commercial coalition in particular—that matters in shaping the outcome and impact of Chinese investment in Malaysia. More importantly, the paper highlights how foreign direct investment and the supposed (positive and negative) externalities are intimately tied to local factors such as political institutions and ethnocentric directives.

Abstract:
The Chinese market is indispensable for international automobile enterprises and they are expanding their investment in this market accordingly. To escalate their market share in China, automobile manufacturers and independent automotive enterprises have implemented a series of management strategies. Consequently, competition in China is becoming increasingly intense. Conversely, Chinese automobile enterprises have no international brand recognition. In this paper, an independent automobile enterprise, Chery Automobile Co. Ltd., is selected as a case study and examined using the SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats) method. Moreover, we analyzed the strengths and weaknesses of the company’s internal environment using a fuzzy VRIO (Value, Rarity, Immutability and Organization) method. Applying the fuzzy theory to an analysis of the management environment can facilitate more effective strategy formulations. It is expected that the application of fuzzy theory to management methods will contribute to the future development of the Chinese automobile industry. The competitive advantages to Chery are illustrated by the fuzzy VRIO analysis.

Abstract:
Japanese and European automobiles have ruled Indonesian industries of cars, as long from the first year they arrived in Indonesia. Meanwhile, from the land of the Red Dragon, Chinese automobiles seem to struggle and look sluggish when competing in Indonesia, from the first arrival of Chery and Geely, as the first Chinese car brand in Indonesia. From disappointing engine performance to pathetic car quality, slowly forming negative stigma about Chinese cars in Indonesia. The table turned when Wuling as the new competitor in Indonesia from China took place to compete against older brands like Toyota and Honda. Surprisingly, based on their recent activities of sales and marketing, shows that Wuling capable of competing, even surpasses some older rivals in the country in terms of owning experience and reliability, whereas Chinese cars used to be known as a bad deal when it comes to car usage for long term. This essay will discuss and examine the marketing communication strategies of Wuling Motors Indonesia as a Chinese car brand whom succeed in competing in Indonesia.

Abstract:
The development of hydrogen energy in the Russian Federation has been interfered by a number of serious problems and issues connected with the innovative nature of this sector of economics. The problems include lack of experience in production, storage and transportation of “green” hydrogen. The development results within the Concept for the development of hydrogen energy present the Russian Federation as the largest exporter of hydrogen by 2050. The Concept estimates the future hydrogen production volumes to be as high as 200,000 tons by 2024, from 2 to 12 million ton by 2035 and from 15 to 50 million ton by 2050. Currently, there are projects on producing “green” hydrogen through electrolysis of water at hydroelectric stations. Moreover, there are different methods of hydrogen storage used in the Russian Federation. However, there is no transportation infrastructure for “green” hydrogen. Therefore, in order to build up transportation infrastructure the authors use economic calculations to consider and actualize the routes for transportation of the “green” hydrogen. To evaluate the profitability the infrastructure and the routes were created for transporting the “green” hydrogen as the export raw material produced in the Niznekamskya HES (Naberezhnye Chelny, Republic of Tatarstan, Russia) to the EU countries. The authors consider waterways, land routes and pipelines for delivering the “green hydrogen” as the transportation facilities and the cargo routes. They evaluate the indicators which characterize the “green” hydrogen transportation by means of waterway, railway and automobile transport and pipelines. The authors estimate the comparative payback periods for the hydrogen transportation by means of waterway, railway and automobile transport and pipelines along their main routes according to the hydrogen market price.

Abstract:
Introduction. The research project is focused on the identification of formation features, the analysis and projection of functional and spatial development patterns of Naberezhnye Chelny, a unique Soviet city. The city’s rapid development dates back to the 70ies of the 20th century, when it was boosted by the construction of the Kama automobile factory in 1969. The city has a linear structure, which reproduces N. Milyutin’s linear city model. The objectives of the work are to identify features of the city’s structural and functional organization, to analyze the compliance between the present-day spatial structure of the city, advanced urban development trends and the customary mode of life lead by local residents, to set key development and transformation objectives in terms of the city’s functional planning structure and spatial environment. Materials and methods. The methodology represents an integrated approach that encompasses the collection, systematization and analysis of literary, project-related, and cartographic materials, comparison of data obtained from different sources and historic periods to identify urban development features and trends, the analysis of urban planning and legislative documentation, the reconciliation of field observations and the historic development of industrial cities with a view to the transition to a novel technological development paradigm. Results. Principal findings represent urban development problems identified by the co-authors, patterns of strategic spatial transformations of the city, and an integrated urban development model designed by the co-authors. Conclusions. The co-authors have designed a concept model for the spatial and territorial development of Naberezhnye Chelny as the basis for the development and update of respective urban and spatial planning documents. First-stage concept implementation actions are proposed.

Chinese foreign direct investment (FDI) companies occupy an increasingly important position in the international. In 2017, Chinas FDI flows were second only to the United States and Japan, ranking third in the world. Chinas FDI is conducive to optimizing and adjusting the industrial structure, making enterprises adapt to the trend of globalization and learn advanced technology and management models from foreign countries. However, due to the instability of the international competitive environment, Chinas FDI companies are facing more risks. The purpose of this paper is to study the various types of risks that Chinese FDI companies may encounter in the process of foreign investment, and to analyze the possible risks and countermeasures with Chery as the case analysis. Chery is the largest vehicle brand among Chinese brands abroad. It has its own manufacturing plants in Iran, Argentina, Turkey, Venezuela and Vietnam. Cherys overseas investment experience is not easy because it faces various risks, including political risks, economic risks, and operational risks. Cherys effective measures in the face of risk include selecting the right target market, developing appropriate product strategies, establishing independent R&D capabilities, and establishing strategic alliances. These are worth learning from other Chinese FDI companies.

Abstract:
A company wishing to operate in foreign markets must have a proper marketing strategy for each target market, considering the 4 P’s of marketing: product, price, placing and promotion. Furthermore, the environment of the target market is also important, especially the cultural environment. Taking the Chinese automobile brand Chery as an example, we aim to analyse the importance of cultural environment for Chinese brands and what they can do to make proper decisions of international marketing. In this context, we will characterized, in a broad sense, the automobile sector in Portugal and China - including the macro market's environment - comparing consumer preferences when choosing and buying cars. Considering the theories and analysis exposed in the first and second chapters, we point up the brand's advantages and disadvantages to the Portuguese market, adaptations one must make to meet the demand as well as the differences and similarities between the Portuguese and Chinese markets. In the end, we present some conclusions and suggestions to the Chinese brands with interest in the Portuguese market, based on the experience that Chery had in Brazil.

Abstract The virus had brought in a ‘New Normal’ and largely changed the economic landscape and business environment. While the lockdown brusquely brought businesses to a halt, economic activity and market sentiments saw an uptick with the opening of the Indian economy in Unlock 1.0. The chapter explores factors which resulted in exhibiting signs of green shoots amidst a pandemic. Key macroeconomic indicators such as goods and services tax, IIP, automobile sales, inflation, Sensex, surging foreign exchange reserves etc. were all showing an upbeat and reasons to cheer as far as economic recovery was concerned. Rural employment numbers were showing an improvement and aggressive implementation of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee (MGNREGA) scheme by the government was bearing fruit.

Abstract:
To meet new Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standards, future vehicles are expected to be more environmentally friendly and fuel efficient. In addition to introducing innovative manufacturing methods and structural modifications, automobile manufacturers are primarily adopting lightweighting technologies to meet the demands for more fuel efficient vehicles. It is seen from prior research that by focusing on lightweight (LW) designs alone, the average new vehicle could weigh 28% less in 2016 than it does today. Using LW designs is not without its challenges though. These designs represent significantly different dynamic characteristics and crashworthiness response when compared against original designs. Accordingly, it is necessary to evaluate the safety implications of these LW vehicles under impact scenarios with various roadside infrastructures. It is also necessary to ensure that the existing infrastructure can satisfy required safety standards in protecting the occupants under different crash conditions. In this paper, we adopt Finite Element Method (FEM) for modeling and simulating different crash scenarios in order to evaluate the safety implications of future LW vehicle designs. Baseline (BL) models for three vehicles — Toyota Yaris, Ford Taurus and Chevy Silverado are appropriately LW modeled with 15% (LW15) and 25% (LW25) reduction in weight, whilst maintaining structural stiffness and Center of Gravity. Numerical simulations are then performed for a 25° impact angle against three common roadside infrastructures — Concrete median barrier, Strong post W-beam guardrail and W-beam transition barrier at three different speeds — 50, 70 and 100 km/hr. The goal is to conduct a matrix of simulations in order to provide comprehensive and relative safety assessment. Barrier performance is then gauged in accordance to the MASH (Manual for Assessing Safety Hardware) [1] criteria wherein the metrics take into account evaluation factors such as structural adequacy and occupant risk.
