The dependence of Chersonese from the Seleucids and at the same time from Bosporos allows another interpretation of the Chersonesan coinage in the period in question. Bosporan King Perisades III gained influence over Chersonese due to some agreements that remains unknown to us. Iconography of Chersonesan coins from 187–175 BC shows the Bosporan ruler’s attributes, namely the images of a griffin and a gorytos on the lower denominations. On the senior denomination of silver coins there is an image of the head of Parthenos and a butting bull, the latter previously known when Chersonese was owned

This publication addresses the question of Chersonese’s entrance into the zone of influence of the Pontic Kingdom, according to the appearance of a new type of Chersonesian coins under the Pontic King Pharnakes I showing pro-Pontic iconography and the reverse image turned to the left. The conclusions shed light on a little-studied period in the history of Chersonese, which started from the peace treaty of 179 BC and lasted to the death of Pharnakes I (157 BC) with the subsequent assumption of power over Chersonese (156 BC) by the Syrian King Demetrios I Soter.

A study of the details of Roman military belts found in Tauric Chersonese by X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy made it possible to determine that almost all of them were made of zinc-containing alloys, that is, two- or multi-component brasses (Cu-Zn, Cu-Zn-Sn, Cu-Zn-Pb, Cu-Zn-Sn-Pb). The steady use of brass (aurichalcum), even with a small zinc content, for manufacturing belt accessories suggests that this particular alloy was given a special, symbolic meaning. First widely used in the time of Mithridates VI for minting credit coins of certain denominations, aurichalcum in Roman times was transf
