Because service-learning challenges participants to widen perspectives on social issues, we designed and assessed a multi-semester, multidisciplinary project with both academic and service objectives. In this project, undergraduate students developed a script and video centered on a board game designed to educate high-school students about their community, Chester, Pennsylvania. The script and video featured undergraduate students playing Chesteropoly, with deeded properties reflecting Chester's current community agencies, as well as business, educational, entertainment, and government groups

Summary This paper describes the procedure of building a probabilistic decision tree on the basis of the integration of data from multiple sources, conditional probabilities, and the application to map fracture corridors (FCs) in a mature oil field with abundant production data. A fracture corridor is a tabular, subvertical, fault-related fracture swarm that intersects the entire reservoir and extends laterally for several tens or hundreds of meters. Direct indicators of fracture corridors, such as image logs, flow profiles, well tests, and seismic fault maps, are sometimes insufficient to map

Summary Secondary fractures and faults associated with reservoir-scale faults affect both permeability and permeability anisotropy and hence play an important role in controlling the production behavior of a faulted reservoir. It is well known from geologic studies that there is a concentration of secondary fractures and faults in damage zones adjacent to large faults. Because there are usually inadequate data to fully incorporate damage-zone fractures and faults into reservoir-simulation models, this study uses the principles of dynamic rupture propagation from earthquake seismology to predic

Background: Replication stress is a feature of the hyper-proliferation experienced by many cancers, leading to genome instability and accumulation of potentially lethal DNA damage. During their evolution, many cancer cells inactivate specific DNA-damage response pathways, placing high dependence on the pathways that remain, one of which is regulated by PKMYT1. This protein kinase prevents unscheduled G2 to M transition to allow cells the time needed for DNA repair before division. In cells that rely on PKMYT1, its inhibition forces cells to divide when they are not ready, leading to synthetic

Abstract Background: Chronic systemic inflammation mediated by pro-inflammatory cytokines serves as a major mechanism by which obesity contributes to cancer development. Paradoxically, elevated body mass (BMI) has been associated with improved outcomes after treatment with immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) in many tumor types. The interplay between cytokine response and obesity after ICIs is poorly understood. To characterize underlying mechanisms, we investigated cytokine profiles in relation to obesity and clinical outcomes in patients treated with ICIs. Methods: From June 2021 to October

Stoners waste time in constantly hunting for pot and in failing to pursue more productive activity whilst wasted. Stoners waste their minds, both literally, if we believe contested studies that indicate marijuana smoking kills brains cells, and figuratively, in rendering themselves cognitively impaired.
