Abstract:
There are four commonly used statistical tables, namely Student’s t, Unit Normal Distribution or Z, chi-square, and F tables. The purpose of this paper is to provide researchers and practitioners a brief description of the tables and how to use them. The T table is used for sample analysis with normal distribution. The Z table is used for population or expected value analysis with normal distribution. The chi square table is used for one sample analysis that is not normally distributed. The F table is used for two samples that are not normally distributed.

Abstract:
The Pearson statistic, a well-known goodness-of fit test in the analysis of contingency tables, gives little guidance as to why a null hypothesis is rejected. One approach to determine the source(s) of deviation from the null is the decomposition of a chi-squared statistic. This allows writing the statistic as the sum of independent chi-squared statistics. First, three major types of contingency tables and the usual chi-squared tests are reviewed. Three types of decompositions are presented and applied: one based on the partition of the contingency table into independent subtables; one derived

When data are from a table formed by the cross-classification of a large number of variables, these goodness-of-fit statistics may have lower power and inaccurate Type I error rate due to sparseness. Pearson's statistic can be decomposed into orthogonal components associated with the marginal distributions of observed variables, and an omnibus fit statistic can be obtained as a sum of these components. Given a response with more than two possible outcomes and independent trials with probabilities of similar category for each trial, the distribution of counts across categories follows a multinomial distribution.
