In 1961, as a contribution to a Festschrift for Aubrey Gwynn, Walter Ullmann drew learned attention to an argument about precedence which arose, probably in 1440, between Henry Chichele, Archbishop of Canterbury, and John Kemp, Archbishop of York, and Cardinal Priest of S. Balbina. The question was whether Kemp as a cardinal took precedence in the councils of the kingdom over Chichele, who, though primate and legatus natus, was not a cardinal. According to Ullmann, Chichele took his case against Kemp to Rome and briefed Antonio Caffarelli, a famous lawyer, only to encounter formidable oppositi

In the reign of Pope Martin V relations between the papacy and the English Crown were dominated by the struggle of the papacy to obtain the repeal of the Statutes against Provisors. The outlines of the story are well known, and recently Dr Davies has filled in the political details, particularly concerning bishoprics: Martin V, having tried from the outset of his pontificate to persuade the Crown to repeal die Statutes, finally lost patience and, in 1427, suspended the Archbishop of Canterbury as legatus natus until Chichele pleaded the papal case before Council and Parliament.

In the existing analyses, the noun prefixes ka- and na- are taken either to be marginal or ceased to be noun prefixes in the synchronic grammars of some Bantu languages. Thesis (MA)--Stellenbosch University, 2015.<br>ENGLISH ABSTRACT: This study deals with the phenomenon of obligatory reflexivity in Chichewa, a language belonging to the Bantu family. Obligatory reflexivity occurs in constructions where a pronominal element – e.g. the reflexive marker (RFM) -dzi- in the verbal complex in Chichewa – is referentially dependent on some other expression in the sentence, its antecedent. Constructions of this type have not received systematic attention in the literature on Chichewa syntax, except in the works of Mchombo (1993, 2004, 2007). The first objective of the

Since the early 1990's, migration has been treated as a process, one that can be discerned in pre-literate cultures as well as historical ones.
