Larger, more important parachutes provide greater relief for these losses. To explicitly measure the moral hazard target CEOs face, we standardize the parachute payment by the expected value of their acquisition-induced lost compensation. We examine 851 acquisitions from 1999–2007, finding that more important parachutes benefit target shareholders through higher completion probabilities. Co

Abstract:
Previous research has shown that teachers play an important role in preventing bullying in school. Nowadays, there is a growing interest in understanding the risk factors associated with school such as the teachers’ perception of the severity of bullying and their response to bullies and victims. This paper presents risk factors associated with bullying and teachers’ perceptions within Bronfenbrenner’s (1977) classic ecological theory.According to this paradigm, changes are required in the environments with which children interact as they develop (family, school, community and society). Owning a dog brings with it a multitude of responsibilities, chief among them being the essential task of dedicating ample time to training [1]. While the specific time commitment may vary, effective training necessitates steadfast dedication and effort. Unfortunately, many dog owners struggle to allocate sufficient time, leading to untrained canine behavior [2]. Research indicates that approximately 75% of dogs worldwide lack proper training. Effective training serves as the bedrock of a harmonious human-canine relationship, fostering mutual understanding and safety [3]. Despite its paramount

The National Ignition Facility (NIF), being constructed at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL), comprises 192 laser beams, Figure 1. The lasing medium is neodymium in phosphate glass with a fundamental frequency (1ω) of 1.053 µm. Sum frequency generation in a pair of conversion crystals (KDP/KD*P) produces 1.8 MJ of the third harmonic light (3ω or λ =0.35 µm). On NIF the frequency conversion crystals are part of the Final Optics Assembly (FOA), whose two principal functions are to convert the laser light to 3ω and focus it on target. This report discusses the value and role of an effective Board beyond the statutory requirement for SPOs in India. The law mandates a minimum number of trustees/governing Board members for registration of an SPO and some guidelines for their functioning. However, there is limited emphasis on good governance practices within the legal mandates. The report explores the need for SPOs to think about their Boards strategically and invest in strengthening them. It also discusses the importance of Advisory Councils as a supporting governance constituent. The report also refers to factors that create

The greater openness of developing countries¿ economies and the free trade agreements negotiated in recent years have spurred arguments in favor of greater integration in the world; they have also given rise to strong opposition. In some cases the opposition stems from the reaction of specific, domestically oriented sectoral interests, and in others from the activism of groups adhering to what has been termed "globophobia". Regrettably, the implementation of the Hemispheric Cooperation Program (HCP) has been constrained by the paralysis of the Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA) negotiation

All structures in Switzerland - that is, all buildings, roads, infrastructure constructions and so on - consume over their entire life cycle around 50 % of Switzerland's final energy requirement. They are also responsible for around 30 % of emissions of the greenhouse gas CO2. In recent decades, the energy requirements and CO2 emissions resulting from the use of such structures have fallen sharply. However, the grey energy contained within the structures as well as the CO2 emissions associated with the construction, renovation and demolition of buildings, remain high. There is great potential

Taxpayers sometimes engage in complex transactions with uncertain tax treatment, such as mergers, acquisitions, demergers and spin-offs. With the rise of global value chains and proliferation of multinational corporations, these transactions increasingly involve transnational financial arrangements and cross-border dealings, making tax treatment even more uncertain. If improperly structured, such transactions could have costly tax consequences. One approach to dealing with this uncertainty is to create a private rulings regime, whereby a taxpayer applies for a private ruling by submitting a st
