Abstract:
The annual incidence of cerebrovascular disease in children is 2.5/100,000 and cerebral infarction is being increasingly recognised in neonates.1 Deficiency of proteins C and S and their roles in thrombosis have only recently been recognised.2 Immunologic and functional assays of these proteins now make it possible to determine whether deficiency of them is associated in any particular case of childhood cerebrovascular accident (CVA).3 We describe two patients, both presenting with stroke in childhood, who were found to be deficient, one in protein C and one in protein S.

Abstract:
Penurunan ekspresi IL-8 neutrofil saliva kemungkinan sebagai penyebab meningkatnya jumlah S. mutans pada S-ECC.Correlation of Streptococcus mutans (S. mutans) Level and Interleukin 8 (IL-8) Expressions of Salivary Neutrophils in Severe Early Childhood Caries. Early childhood caries is a very serious health problem because it is a chronic infectious disease that is contagious. Dental caries begins after the primary teeth grow and develop on the tooth surface very quickly and progressively. In recent years the views of neutrophils have changed dramatically. Neutrophils not only act as a microbe killer through phagocytosis, the release of reactive oxigen species (ROS) and its antimicrobial peptide, but neutrophil activation also helps regulate the immune response. To analyze the relationship between the amount S. mutans and IL-8 expression of salivary neutrophils in severe early Childhood caries. Two groups, namely Isolation of S. mutans were performed on saliva samples taken from 20 caries-free and 20 severe early childhood caries and samples Nacl 1,5% mouthwash results of 20 caries-free and 20 severe early childhood caries salivary neutrophils that were analysis of IL-8 expression by flow cytometry. Based on the average value, it is known that S. mutans level in early Childhood caries-free is lower (513.500,00 +185.565,28 CFU/ml) in comparison to the severe early Childhood caries (977.000,00 +222.500,15 CFU/ml), but the expression of IL-8 neutrophil salivary neutrophils in early Childhood caries-free is higher (3,31+0,50) in comparison to the severe early Childhood caries (2,95+0,56). The increased S. mutans level is probably caused by the decrease in the expression of IL-8 salivary neutrophils in severe early childhood caries.

Abstract:
The goal of this paper is to elaborate and to re-invent the competencies needed by early childhood education teachers. Building childrens character from an early age is significant, but the main problem that is often overlooked is the contribution of Early Childhood Education teachers. Childrens character formation is largely determined by the quality of early childhood teachers. So if we want to instill character values required by our nations, the improvement of the quality of early childhood teachers is very significant. In terms of shaping childrens character, they should be equipped with some important skills and competences, because they have a significant role in building the Indonesian Childrens characters needed in global competition without abandoning their identity as a dignified Indonesian.

Abstract:
This essay attempts to map historical, literary and social constructions of childhood in India and to explore ways in which these differ from Western-dominated, globalised attitudes to childhood. Evidence about Indian childhood is drawn from across a narrative spectrum including children's books and films and some adult writing and media. Notions of childhood are different within and across the cultures of the world; while there is no ‘correct’ version of childhood, many have common features and sometimes the influences of one culture can be strongly felt in another. In India, for example, a dominant construction of childhood was imported through Western education.1After Independence (1947), Indian children's literature in English became caught up in the mass postcolonial project of nation-building. As part of becoming emancipated from colonial rule, a dominant image of the child in fiction based on Western childhood had to be replaced by one that is hybrid and multicultural. This construction of Indian childhood is now itself being buffeted by forces of cultural homogenisation.2

Abstract:
What is the role of mothering in the early childhood classroom? Given the focus of the field of “professionalization” and “scientific” practices, how might the role of maternal nurturance be woven into our understandings of pedagogies? This paper addresses the disempowerment experienced by an early childhood practitioner when maternal subjectivities and practices are framed as oppositional to the “professionalization” of the field. Through narrative research as a teacher-scholar, I explore my own experiences around my role as “not-mother” in the classroom, looking critically at the interwovenness of mothering and teaching in classroom relationships and communities. Through this narrative examination, I explore the role of maternal relationships in early childhood, in conversation with my practices of mothering as the teacher-not-mother. Through narrative inquiry and analysis, I attempt to make visible the forbidden subjectivities of the not-mother, and her centrality to meaningful early childhood pedagogy.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT A young child being diagnosed with cancer naturally generates a pretty melancholy reaction. Each cancer can be managed with a vast array of treatment options that are available either individually or as a combination, the final goal of which is total eradication of the condition in the affected individual. Since, most of these treatments are administered during the age of tooth formation, they may affect stages of odontogenesis. Most common treatment of childhood cancers includes – chemotherapy and radiotherapy. With recent advancements in cancer therapy additional treatment options like laser therapy, radiation in the form of brachytherapy or teletherapy, cryotherapy, thermochemotherapy, etc. are available. As treatment of childhood cancers starts at a very young age coinciding with dental development, a number of dental malformations have been reported in childhood cancer survivors. The most common ocular cancer in children is retinoblastoma. This is the first such reported case and unique one where microdontia has affected all the first premolars. Abstract:
Aim: Determine if childhood cancer patients suffer bullying and identify its causes Compare what patients say about bullying, when they are alone versus presence of their parents. Method: We studied 47 childhood cancer patients ages varied between 5 and 17 years old. With previous parental authorization we applied a questionnaire called “That´s how we hang out at school” in two moments, first one in presence of their parents, and the second one without them. Results: Scholar childhood cancer survivors suffer bullying in 89.4%, in contrast with 25.8% of children without cancer suffered bullying according to literature. Secquelae and alopecia were the main causes for bullying, also teacher´s and Student´s lack of knowledge thinking that cancer is contagious. We also observed that children accepted being bullied in presence of the doctor, but not in front of their parents. Conclusion: Childhood cancer patients are more harassed than children without cancer due to secqueale, atipya or consumption that they present, also, fear of contagion enhances harassment and lack of teacher´s intervention. Children deny being bullied in front of their parents, but accept it without them.

Abstract:
Summary Aim: The clinical value of positron emission tomography using fluorine-18 fluoro-deoxy-glucose (FDG-PET) in the staging of adult lymphoma has been shown in many studies. However, there are only few data regarding childhood lymphoma. The purpose of this retrospective study was to compare the staging of childhood lymphoma using FDG-PET and the established computed tomography (CT). Method: Whole-body FDG-PET was performed in 25 children with histologically proven Hodgkin ´s disease (n = 18) and non-Hodgkin´s lymphoma (n = 7) using a dedicated PET. The findings were compared with the CT results. Both examinations, FDG-PET and CT, were assessed by two experienced physicians. In each patient, 30 regions were analysed (22 nodal, 8 extranodal). Each region was assessed using a fivevalue scale (definitely/probably positive, equivocal, probably/definitely negative). Results: 662 regions (470 nodal, 192 extranodal) were compared. 91 regions (81 nodal, 10 extranodal; 14%) were concordant positive and 517 regions (347 nodal, 170 extranodal; 78%) were concordant negative. In 47 regions, 48 discordant findings (7%) were described: 27 findings (22 nodal, 5 extranodal) were positive using FDG-PET and negative using CT whereas 21 findings (17 nodal, 4 extranodal) were positive using CT and negative using PET. A total of 7 regions (1%) were judged equivocal in one imaging modality (1 FDG-PET, 6 CT). Using FDG-PET as compared to CT, resulted in a higher staging in 4 of 25 patients and in a lower staging in 2 of 25 patients. Conclusion: Staging of childhood lymphoma using FDGPET shows differences compared with CT resulting in a different staging in 6 of 25 patients. Prospective studies are required to evaluate the impact of these discrepancies on the clinical management of pediatric patients.
