Background: Evidence shows that day centers (DC) are an effective technology to support people with dementia (PwD) and their family caregivers (FC). Objective: To assess the mediators of adherence to treatment for PwD attended in DC. Methods: Retrospective study with a sample of 143 PwD who attended a DC between May 1998 and March 2020. The sample was divided into 4 groups by period of attendance. A descriptive and comparative analysis of sociodemographic factors and disease severity (CDR) at admission was performed. The idea that children have a “right to education” has been widely accepted since the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948 (United Nations, 1948) and periodically reinforced since.
