Abstract:
The impact of the current social environment on people's consumption structure has made children's clothing an increasingly prominent strategic position in the competition in the clothing industry. To study the design dimensions of current children's clothing products, taking children's clothing products as the research object, a sample database and a vocabulary database related to design elements were constructed through market research methods. Initial data was obtained by observing, clustering, and sorting the collected 400 children's clothing samples in combination with the vocabulary database. The initial data was analysed using the factor analysis method in SPSS software, and three independent factors regarding the design dimensions of children's clothing products were extracted: aesthetic factors, care factors, and educational factors. Based on the research process and factor analysis results, we try to optimize the design of children's clothing products. The research results show that the design of children's clothing products is carried out from three dimensions: aesthetics, care and education. Also, the current children's clothing products have deficiencies in multiple design dimensions. Optimized design can be used as a guide for children's clothing design practitioners, and provide optimization directions for children's clothing practitioners to design in line with market development and children's growth needs.

Abstract:
Fast-fashion products encourage parents to spend more on their children’s necessities. As a result, children’s clothing consumption is increasingly higher in a family due to child growth and change of needs. Due to the short lifespan of children’s clothes, the waste of clothing is increasing rapidly. This research aims to study the opinion of parents and the acceptance of children’s environmental-friendly clothing. The research examined parents’ buying patterns such as shopping frequency, disposal practices and the purchase of child clothing experience. This work has embraced the idea of eco-fashion design to examine the clothing needs of children and the knowledge of the parents. Hence, a quantitative analysis was applied to research among parents in January 2020 in Malaysia. This research contributes to academic results about parents’ decision-making on the children clothing subject. The findings showed that parents were aware of the idea of sustainable apparel; the cost, quality, design, and health issues were the most significant factors that influenced consumer’s decisions to purchase children’s clothing. Sustainable children’s clothing was preferred by parents as it had multiple benefits which impacted children’s health, preserves the environment as well as cost and time effective. For future research, further exploration relating to disposal and sustainable clothing design for children is suggested.

Abstract:
The purpose of the work is to study the artistic and compositional features in children's collections of haute couture houses and determine the patterns of their repetition in the design of children's costumes in the 20th and early 21st century. To achieve this goal, a historical study of materials, a visual-analytical method, morphological and compositional-structural analysis were applied. The evolution of children's costume in the high fashion collections in the and early 21st century is investigated and the main trends in children's fashion for a given period of time are analyzed. The artistic and compositional features of the children's costume are identified, the most characteristic artistic and structural elements of children's clothing are identified: three-dimensional shape, color scheme and fabric pattern, structural and decorative elements and decoration. The regularity of repeating the pattern of fabric in the collections of children's clothing of the Fashion houses in the 20th and early 21st century is established. The collected materials and their analysis made it possible to establish regularity of repeating of artistic and compositional features in a children's costume, such as a fabric pattern and decoration in different years in models of children's clothing of High Fashion Houses. Practical significance lies in the generalization of artistic compositional features and the identification of leading trends in the artistic compositional solution of children's costumes in the high fashion collections in the 20th and early 21st century. The results will make it possible to predict trends in children's fashion, design actual models of clothing for children and can be used in further research on the design of children's clothing.

Abstract:
This study aims to simplify the postmodernism's characteristics to create innovative fashion designs for children's ready-to-wear clothing. By incorporating children's artistic drawings, the study seeks to achieve the designs' functional, aesthetic, and productive aspects. The significance of this research lies in enriching the practices of the ready-to-wear children's clothing industry through the utilization of postmodernism characteristics. A descriptive analytical approach was employed to identify the relevant characteristics of the postmodernism and adapt them to the design process for children's clothing. Eight designs were created and evaluated by specialists using a study tool. The results revealed statistically significant differences in the evaluations of the designs across various aspects. The aesthetic aspect received the highest evaluation, followed by the production and, finally, the functional aspects. The study concluded that the design incorporating the attribute of ambiguity was the most highly rated among the designs, considering all aspects. Based on these findings, the study recommends further exploration of the postmodernism in fashion design and an in-depth study of international arts to foster creativity and diversity in children's clothing design.

Abstract:
The aim of this paper is to study the application of eco-fibres as a new approach to achieve the multifunctional design for children’s clothing toward sustainability in the clothing industry. In this regard, this study focuses on the evaluation of the fabrics’ mechanical properties including tensile strength and microstructural details as critical points for multifunctional children's clothing purposes. The eco-fibre fabrics studied are organic cotton twill and recycled polyester. Studies have proven that frequent laundering and dry-cleaning result in increased pilling. Furthermore, high quality of colour fastness properties was found in 100% organic woven cotton fabric and recycled polyester fabric printed by non-harmful dyes. Organic cotton fabric is found to offer minimum tear resistance due to the lower strength of cotton fibres. The study found very good physical properties of organic cotton fabric during the mechanical test as well as recycled polyester fabric, which are also safe and eco-friendly. Therefore, these materials are suitable to be used in sustainable clothing design, as it is also a means towards the reduction of environmental pollution and tackle resource depletion associated with the clothing industry.

Children grow at fast rates. Due to this fact, parents constantly need to purchase new clothes as children out grow their clothes before it becomes fully worn. Parents spend thousands each year on children's clothing only to have them disposed of before it has reached its maximum wear ability. The purpose of this research is to analyse children's growth pattems and investigate means of increasing the lifespan! wear ability of children's clothing. The practise of increasing the lifespan! wear ability of clothing lends itself to the Sustainable Design paradigm that encourages designers to create products (garments) with longer lifecycles and discourages waste at every stage of the products lifespan. The process of "tossing out" clothes or not wearing it to its maximum utilization creates waste and fuels mass consumption. As a result masses of clothing end up in landfills and due to its mainly synthetic nature, it causes harm to the environment. By incorporating innovative design and construction techniques I aim to explore methods of adjusting garments according to the growth experienced by children annually. This will allow children to wear the garments for a longer period eliminating the need for parents to purchase new clothing when the clothes no longer fit.

Abstract:
The purposes of this study were to examine the effects of socialization processes and antecedent variables on children's evaluative criteria for clothing purchases and to examine antecedent variables on the socialization process. A total of 500 parents of children from the first through sixth grade were systematically selected from the Directory of Catalina Foothills School District and mailed a questionnaire. Using principal components factor analysis on parental socialization variables and on evaluative criteria items, nine factors were developed. Based on stepwise multiple regression analysis for each hypothesis, it was concluded that antecedent variables have direct influence on socialization process variables which, in turn, impacts the outcome variables. Antecedent variables, however, tended to have limited direct influence on outcome variables but have an indirect effect on outcome variables only through socialization variables.

ENGLISH ABSTRACT: This research focused on the need of the children’s wear industry in South Africa for sizing systems based on accurate and current body measurement tables developed from the actual measurements of children. The broad objective of this study was to develop standardised measuring methodologies and techniques which would be relevant to the subsequent development of reliable, accurate and comprehensive body measurement tables. These tables could then be implemented as a basis for the development of new sizing systems, as well as new, improved and authentic fit dummy ranges. The literature study served as a point of departure for the planning and execution of the empirical study, focusing on sizing and size designation systems. The study population comprised children representative of three categories, namely age (2 to 14 years), gender (boys and girls) and sector (Black and Non-Black) categories. A convenience sample was selected, representing children from two geographical areas (Western Cape and Gauteng). The empirical study has a three phase structure. The first pilot study aimed at developing standardised measuring equipment, as well as the methodologies and properly recorded guidelines for their implementation. The specific standards according to which subjects were measured and the strict quality control measures implemented to ensure the validity, reliability and accuracy of recorded data, were confirmed during the second pilot study. Based on this, the final study was executed following the guidelines as recorded in the Field Worker Manual. The statistical analysis was done after data capturing during which the data sets were first cleaned up. Secondly, the key measurements for use as a basis for the development of the sizing systems were identified. Based on these, body measurement tables were compiled and age of gender split and growth patterns were analysed for fit dummy prototype development. The new size designation system developed for children’s clothing was successfully implemented as a multi-indicator system, linking height ranges with both age ranges and numerical size indicators. The development of the subsequent new and improved fit dummy prototypes was based on measurements within minimum and maximum values of the body measurements, in order to facilitate the construction of these three-dimensional bodies. It was also possible to develop complete body measurement tables with accurate, and notably irregular, increments between sizes as well as to determine specific growth patterns and separate growth spurts for both boys and girls. This study made new and original as well as more detailed and correct information available concerning the size and shape of the typical South African children’s wear consumer. Using the information contained in the new height based sizing system, retailers have been able to develop a proper set of grade rules for application in product development. The identification and demarcation of important body landmarks facilitated pattern drafting, garment development and fit assessments, resulting in an improved product offering for the typical South African children’s wear consumer. Recommendations regarding further research were formulated, such as comparing the study population categories, namely gender, age and sector. Implications for retailers, inter alia that each retail company could choose how to implement the new height based sizing system and the specific size designation system most suitably for their own consumers and internal systems. The standards set and methodologies implemented in this survey were an improvement on the sizing and fit of children’s wear in the context of South African manufacturers, retailers and consumers.
Volledige liggaamsmate-tabelle is daarna ontwikkel.

Abstract:
The article is devoted to the characteristics of gender and age differentiation complex of clothing from children's and youth burial complexes of the population of the Upper Ob basin of the second half of the 1st millennium BC. The materials of burials for which sex and age definitions are published are analyzed. The gender and age distribution of jewelry is presented. In the course of the study, the author comes to the conclusion that the lack of a clear canon in the design of the funeral costume contributed to its individualization. It is assumed that the unity of the ensemble of the costume was determined by the tastes and preferences of a particular person, and in relation to the funeral rite and the preferences of the community performing the act of burial.

Abstract:
Summary and main findings 1.Twelve of the 32 local authorities automatically pay school clothing grant to families who receive a qualifying benefit administered by the local authority such as Housing Benefit or income-related Council Tax reduction. 2.School uniform banks report difficulties that are created for families through uniform policies, for example requiring 100% black shoes, items with logos, tartan and hard to find colours, such as turquoise or maroon. 3.In 2022-23 there was a drop in the number of children for whom school clothing grant was awarded while the percentage of children living in poverty increased. A possible explanation for this drop is the provision of universal free school meals. Previously families would have been applying for both free school meals and clothing grant at the same time. This highlights the need to make it easier to receive school clothing grant. 4.Local authorities do not record information in terms of the Scottish Government’s 6 priority family groups for those applying for and/or receiving school clothing grant. Thus, local authorities cannot monitor if certain groups are less likely to apply for or receive the grant under their local Child Poverty Action Plans. 5.Eighteen local authorities have never paid more than the national minimum school clothing grant. However, other local authorities have taken a different approach, for example, in 2023-2024 East Dunbartonshire is providing double the national minimum school clothing grant (£240 for primary and £300 for secondary pupils). In 2022-2023 six authorities made an extra payment over the winter months ranging from £20 to £150.

Abstract:
The distressed/street children are deprived of the basic necessities of life, such as food, shelter, clothing, healthcare, and other supports – psychological and others, needed for a child. The government initiated six Shishu Bikash Kendra (SBKs) to improve the environment for street children, their quality of life, and future prospects. Bangladesh Shishu Academy (BSA), under the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs (MoWCA), has designed a holistic model that will directly reach 1,500 children (250 under each SBK) and promote their education, livelihood opportunities, healthcare, and protection. SBK, being implemented by BSA, aims to improve the quality of life of these deprived children by providing accommodation and food with a major focus on education and training. This study examines the process of targeting and selecting children and assesses the situation of children living in the SBK. The major problem faced by the SBK children is accommodation, including access to bath and toilet facilities. In addition to limited floor space, most of the SBKs do not have adequate bathrooms and latrines. It is very important for the SBKs to have their own buildings with adequate bath and toilet facilities. The selection process may be changed as there is provision to accommodate more children. The number of children staying should be increased by changing the selection process (for example, collecting children from slums/remote areas). A protective environment is pivotal to governments’ commitment to ensuring that no child is deprived of the material, spiritual, and emotional resources needed to achieve their potential so that they can participate as full and equal members of society. BSA should make efforts to provide children with the necessary skill/vocational training and other assistance to ensure job prospects for them by networking with different government departments/agencies so that they can participate in income-earning activities and be capable of supporting themselves and become useful members of the society.
