Abstract:
The impact of the current social environment on people's consumption structure has made children's clothing an increasingly prominent strategic position in the competition in the clothing industry. To study the design dimensions of current children's clothing products, taking children's clothing products as the research object, a sample database and a vocabulary database related to design elements were constructed through market research methods. Initial data was obtained by observing, clustering, and sorting the collected 400 children's clothing samples in combination with the vocabulary database. The initial data was analysed using the factor analysis method in SPSS software, and three independent factors regarding the design dimensions of children's clothing products were extracted: aesthetic factors, care factors, and educational factors. Based on the research process and factor analysis results, we try to optimize the design of children's clothing products. The research results show that the design of children's clothing products is carried out from three dimensions: aesthetics, care and education. Also, the current children's clothing products have deficiencies in multiple design dimensions. Optimized design can be used as a guide for children's clothing design practitioners, and provide optimization directions for children's clothing practitioners to design in line with market development and children's growth needs.

Abstract:
Fast-fashion products encourage parents to spend more on their children’s necessities. As a result, children’s clothing consumption is increasingly higher in a family due to child growth and change of needs. Due to the short lifespan of children’s clothes, the waste of clothing is increasing rapidly. This research aims to study the opinion of parents and the acceptance of children’s environmental-friendly clothing. The research examined parents’ buying patterns such as shopping frequency, disposal practices and the purchase of child clothing experience. This work has embraced the idea of eco-fashion design to examine the clothing needs of children and the knowledge of the parents. Hence, a quantitative analysis was applied to research among parents in January 2020 in Malaysia. This research contributes to academic results about parents’ decision-making on the children clothing subject. The findings showed that parents were aware of the idea of sustainable apparel; the cost, quality, design, and health issues were the most significant factors that influenced consumer’s decisions to purchase children’s clothing. Sustainable children’s clothing was preferred by parents as it had multiple benefits which impacted children’s health, preserves the environment as well as cost and time effective. For future research, further exploration relating to disposal and sustainable clothing design for children is suggested.

Abstract:
The purpose of the work is to study the artistic and compositional features in children's collections of haute couture houses and determine the patterns of their repetition in the design of children's costumes in the 20th and early 21st century. To achieve this goal, a historical study of materials, a visual-analytical method, morphological and compositional-structural analysis were applied. The evolution of children's costume in the high fashion collections in the and early 21st century is investigated and the main trends in children's fashion for a given period of time are analyzed. The artistic and compositional features of the children's costume are identified, the most characteristic artistic and structural elements of children's clothing are identified: three-dimensional shape, color scheme and fabric pattern, structural and decorative elements and decoration. The regularity of repeating the pattern of fabric in the collections of children's clothing of the Fashion houses in the 20th and early 21st century is established. The collected materials and their analysis made it possible to establish regularity of repeating of artistic and compositional features in a children's costume, such as a fabric pattern and decoration in different years in models of children's clothing of High Fashion Houses. Practical significance lies in the generalization of artistic compositional features and the identification of leading trends in the artistic compositional solution of children's costumes in the high fashion collections in the 20th and early 21st century. The results will make it possible to predict trends in children's fashion, design actual models of clothing for children and can be used in further research on the design of children's clothing.

Abstract:
The aim of this paper is to study the application of eco-fibres as a new approach to achieve the multifunctional design for children’s clothing toward sustainability in the clothing industry. In this regard, this study focuses on the evaluation of the fabrics’ mechanical properties including tensile strength and microstructural details as critical points for multifunctional children's clothing purposes. The eco-fibre fabrics studied are organic cotton twill and recycled polyester. Studies have proven that frequent laundering and dry-cleaning result in increased pilling. Furthermore, high quality of colour fastness properties was found in 100% organic woven cotton fabric and recycled polyester fabric printed by non-harmful dyes. Organic cotton fabric is found to offer minimum tear resistance due to the lower strength of cotton fibres. The study found very good physical properties of organic cotton fabric during the mechanical test as well as recycled polyester fabric, which are also safe and eco-friendly. Therefore, these materials are suitable to be used in sustainable clothing design, as it is also a means towards the reduction of environmental pollution and tackle resource depletion associated with the clothing industry.

Abstract:
Children's apparel sector is surging in Indonesia, posing challenges for children's clothing retailers, exemplified by CV. Patras Development. In the realm of heightened market competition, innovation becomes imperative. CV. Patras Development grapples with obstacles such as external competitors offering more cost-effective solutions and raw material sourcing intricacies, compounded by a tranquil business environment in Bali. This quantitative research adopts a methodological approach focusing on latent variables—Product Quality (X1) and Price Fairness (X2) as influencers, and Purchase Interest (Y1) and Purchasing Decisions (Y2) as influenced variables. The study encompasses 72 consumers of children's clothing at CV. Patras Development, with data meticulously processed using SmartPLS accounting software. The findings elucidate that Product Quality and Price Fairness significantly influence the purchasing interest of clothing consumers at CV. Patras Development. Noteworthy is the positive impact of Price Fairness on purchasing decisions, whereas Product Quality and Purchase Intention exhibit no discernible effect on purchasing decisions. Intriguingly, the mediation of Purchase Intention between product quality and price fairness proves inconsequential in shaping purchasing decisions among clothing consumers at CV. Patras Development from an accounting perspective.

Abstract:
Urgency of the research. The main functional property of children's outerwear is a heat-shielding property. The research of the heat-shielding properties of natural and synthetic fillers for children's outerwear production is quite multifaceted, complex and insufficiently studied question. This is due to the fact that for the manufacture of children's outerwear new fabrics for the top and lining, as well as fillers of various materials are used. Target setting. Determination of the optimal parameters of the heat-shielding properties of natural and synthetic fillers for children's outerwear production is an important task, since the greatest value of clothing is for the processes of heat exchange of the human body with the environment and to ensure normal thermoregulation. Actual scientific researches and issues analysis. Considerable attention has been paid to the prediction of the heatprotective properties of winter clothing or its construction, the substantiation of the choice of a package of materials for the manufacture of children's outerwear, mathematical modelling of the heat transfer through textile materials and to the physical model of thermal resistance determination. Uninvestigated parts of general matters defining. The heat-shielding properties of natural and synthetic fillers for the outerwear of children are practically not studied, and the calculations of the optimal parameters of these properties are fragmentary. The research objective. to determine the optimal parameters of the heat-shielding properties of natural and synthetic fillers for children's outerwear production. The statement of basic materials. It was found that the heat-shielding properties of children's jackets with feather-down and synthetic textile filler depend on the type of filler, thickness, surface density and breathability of the clothing package. Conclusions. Children's jackets with feather-down filler with a smaller thickness have the lowest level of breathability, which provides them with the best heat-shielding properties. The higher level of breathability inherent in a children's jacket with synthetic textile filler with a significantly greater thickness of the package can provide high levels of the heat-shielding properties. Mathematical equations to determine the optimal parameters of the heat-shielding properties of natural and synthetic fillers for children's outerwear production are suggested.

In this study 223 children in kindergarten through Grade 5 were surveyed about their school clothing: their typical and preferred style of dress, their feelings about their clothing, and their role in clothing acquisition and care. The contribution of selected demographic variables to children's self-perception and to management of appearance was examined. By and large, children expressed highly positive feelings about their school clothing. Shorts or long pants with a T-shirt were the typical school clothing of boys and girls. Age was associated with more differences in self-perception and management of appearance than any other variable. Children in kindergarten through Grade 3 reported more positive feelings about the clothing they were wearing on testing day and appraisals of their own clothes vis-à-vis their friends' than did those in Grades 4 and 5. The latter group reported more shopping in specialty stores, more “mom and I” purchasing, and more clothes washing and ironing than did younger children.

Abstract:
Vendor Shasa Organizer is one of the clothing rental service providers that offers various types of clothing, including wedding dresses, traditional outfits, batik clothes, jazz attire, and children's costumes. It is located in Driyorejo District, Gresik. However, the rental process at Shasa Organizer is currently carried out in a simple manner, where customers need to come directly to the location to rent or just check the availability of clothing. Considering the utilization of technology, the simple rental process at Shasa Organizer has the potential to reduce rental transactions and lead to errors in recording reports compared to using a website and the internet. Therefore, there is a need for a website-based rental information system. This research results in the design of an information system that provides details about the available clothing, rental process, and report recording. The system aims to support Shasa Organizer in managing rentals and report recording, allowing customers to access the website for rental information and eliminating the need to visit the location for rental inquiries or to check clothing availability.

Abstract:
AbstractObjectiveTo simplify body weight measurement and, particularly, to encourage children and their parents to participate in the Italian nutritional surveillance system OKkio alla SALUTE, children were measured with clothes and then the weight was corrected for the estimated weight of the clothes. In the present study we compared the children's weight measured in underwear, as recommended by the WHO (WWHO), with that obtained using the OKkio alla SALUTE protocol (WOK) and investigated how the latter affects the calculation of BMI and the assessment of overweight and obesity prevalence.DesignWeight (twice in close sequence, with and without clothing) and height were measured. A checklist was used to describe the type of clothing worn. The estimated weight of clothing was subtracted from the WOK. BMI was calculated considering both values of weight and height; ponderal status was defined using both the International Obesity Task Force and WHO BMI cut-offs.SettingThirty-seven third grade classes of thirteen primary schools in Rome and in two towns in the Lazio Region were recruited.SubjectsThe anthropometric measurements were taken on 524 children aged 8–9 years.ResultsThe error in the calculation of BMI from WOK was very low, 0·005 kg/m2 (95 % CI −0·185, 0·195 kg/m2); the agreement between the percentages of overweight (not including obesity) and obese children calculated with the two methods was very close to 1 (κ = 0·98).ConclusionsThe error in BMI and in nutritional classification can be considered minor in a surveillance system for monitoring overweight/obesity, but eases the procedure for measuring children.

Abstract:
Motor vehicle crashes involving pedestrians result in 1.8 deaths per 100,000 population annually in the U.S. Most of these fatalities are attributed to pedestrians not being seen in time for the driver to avoid a collision, particularly under poor visibility conditions. Previous research shows that reflective clothing worn at night can substantially increase pedestrians' visual conspicuity to drivers. The purpose of the present research was to examine people's desire for reflective trim on their clothing. Findings of strong desirability for reflective trim could prompt its incorporation into garments available to the public, and thus, potentially decrease pedestrian-related motor vehicle accidents. The present study measured the extent to which people are willing to pay extra or less for clothing with reflective material compared to the same items without reflective material. People reported they are willing to pay more for reflective material on sports-related, children's and inclement-weather clothing. Implications for safety and future research are discussed.

Abstract:
This study explores the emerging trend of swapping children's clothes as a sustainable practice and analyzes mothers' acceptance of this phenomenon. Using a descriptive-analytical approach, the research surveyed mothers' attitudes towards this practice through a questionnaire. The research sample for this study consisted of 138 respondents who were mothers from various regions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The primary research tool used in this study was a questionnaire. This questionnaire aimed to gauge the extent to which mothers are receptive to the idea of swapping children's clothes. The study found that a large majority (88.3%) of the mothers surveyed know the practice of swapping children's clothes, indicating that this concept is widely known among the participants. Moreover, most mothers surveyed (83%) have engaged in swapping children's clothes with family or friends. This high level of participation suggests that this form of swap is a common practice. Most mothers who have engaged in the exchange (76%) have done it more than once. This suggests that once mothers begin participating in this practice, they will likely continue, indicating a positive experience or perceived benefits from the exchange. More than half of the mothers (60.1%) do not feel embarrassed to propose such an exchange, which is a positive sign for this practice's continuation and potential growth. However, 40% of mothers feel or may feel embarrassed, indicating that social and emotional barriers could hinder the wider adoption of this practice. The study underscores the need to boost awareness about the environmental benefits of such exchanges, given the typically brief usage span of children's clothes due to their rapid growth. It also proposes innovative strategies to enhance clothing exchange gatherings and advocates for instilling the principles of swap and giving in the younger generation to reinforce the concept of sustainability in clothing.

Abstract:
The essay focuses on the examination of a selection of children’s picture books on the theme of clothing as an element of identity and as a means of personal and social transformation. The gender stereotype has always deprived children of the freedom to imagine themselves different from the imposed social model. Modern quality literature aims to free childhood from these constraints through stories that encourage the free expression of one's personality. "Clothing and childhood" is one of the binomial in which these themes appear most evident. While developing different plots, each selected book tells a story enriched by several levels of reading, more or less evident, and this is also due to particularly accurate illustrations, capable of adding further nuances to the text. Furthermore, even if characterized by the symbolic presence of clothes, these picture books do not make them the narrative fulcrum. In each of these case studies, clothing becomes a pretext for a journey of self-discovery and affirmation of one's individuality in the world. These case studies are a concrete example of the potential of the picture book as a vehicle of complex concepts and stratifications of complementary or parallel meanings that emerge from the dynamic relationship of the text with the image. Each double page opens multiple, free interpretative paths that can be taken at each reading, as the eye catches new aspects and the thought opens up to new discoveries. The imaginary dress is therefore one of the many parallel topics that it was possible to address through these books, with which the possible interpretations of clothing in children's literature have been explored, highlighting above all how much garments are objects charged with metasignification or with projections of a identity in formation such as the one of children.

Abstract:
Dress was charged with meaning in the British colonies. Its visual cues made dress an obvious vehicle for formulating identity in material ways, and as a communicative device it was a means to measure migrants of unknown social origin — though not always with success. This article explores children's clothing in south-eastern Australia during the decades spanning the mid-nineteenth century, when the Port Phillip District transformed from a pastoral settlement into the thriving gold-rush colony of Victoria, attracting migrants from around the globe. In particular, it focuses on the material practices of mothers in clothing their children. In considering the links between a mother's domestic needlework and expressions of identity, it develops the concept of clothing as a visible indicator to observers of a mother's care of and devotion to her children, while acknowledging the circumstances that may have influenced her sewing — shortages of labour and materials, isolation and the financial uncertainty of life in a new colony.

Abstract:
Study of the possibility of using the existing normative and technical documentation for the design of girls' clothing for a teenage group. The contact method of obtaining anthropometric information describing the child's figure was used in the work. An anthropological (descriptive) method was used to determine the types of physique. Making clothes according to the existing normative and technical documentation does not take into account modern features of the structure of the body of adolescents, leads to a violation of the conformity of the finished product and a decrease in the satisfaction of consumers with commensurable clothing. The above information indicates the need for a broad study of the children's population to review the existing system of typical figures, namely, determining the optimal number of typical figures, body types and their quantitative characteristics. A significant discrepancy between the standard typological composition in the OST 18-66-88 of the composition of typical figures of modern girls is found, namely only 43.9% of modern figures of girls are represented in the industry standard, and 12.67% in other age groups of child and female standards. Based on the analysis of contemporary typical figures of adolescent girls, the percentage distribution of the standard sizes in the sample was calculated and a list of typical figures that are absent in children's industry standards was established. The typological composition of the figures of adolescent girls is determined for reporting the leading dimensional characteristics to ensure an increase in the level of satisfaction of this group of people with mass-produced clothing.

Abstract:
The article examines the so-called nursery words in Finno-Ugric languages from the point of view of their functioning and semantics. Children's words constitute a specialized lexicon of a special linguistic register - speech addressed to children. The research is based primarily on field materials collected by the author. In accordance with the communicative needs of the child in the early stages of communication development, three large functional groups of words are distinguished: children's interjections, designations of situations, names of objects. Children's interjections include various prohibition words and warnings against such dangers as heat and cold, animal aggression, etc. Also, special words denote situations that are most important for the child: 'eat', 'drink', 'wash', 'walk' and etc. Among the definitions of objects and people, children's words for kinship terms, pets, food and drinks, clothing, toys, etc. stand out. Due to the conceptual non-division of children's words, the selected groups are not mutually exclusive: the same words can simultaneously express motivations, designate situations and objects associated with them. Functional and semantic groups of children's words can be considered universal; the specific content of these groups may vary. The Finno-Ugric languages reveal a certain wealth and variety of children's words.
