Abstract:
The aim of this study is to determine the design needs and methods of children's furniture for growth from the perspective of children's physiology. Due to the current advocacy of sustainable design concepts, new structures and accessories can also meet the requirements of children's furniture design. At this stage, research on the design of growthable children's furniture is very important and timely. The study used the analysis of literature sources on the design of furniture, Comparative research method. Case analysis method, structural-functional analysis, synthesis of research results, etc. are used. Analyzing the design elements of growable furniture from the perspective of children's physiology, the types of furniture that can grow children are divided into three categories: children's desks and chairs, children's beds, and children's storage furniture. According to the requirements of children's human-machine ratio, it is determined that the height of children's desks and chairs can be adjusted, and the angle between the desktop and the back of the children's chair can also be adjusted. From an ergonomic point of view, these requirements are determined based on the child's height, weight and developmental characteristics. It is determined that through the standardized design, the children's bed can be disassembled or installed, the height of the bed can be changed, and the combination of the bed and other functions can also be satisfied. Determine the category of children's storage type furniture storage items, classify according to different items, and put forward requirements for the storage of different types of items. We explore the impact of children's physiological changes on children's furniture, meet the requirements of children of different ages for the use of furniture, at the same time, provide specific design ideas. The practical significance of the obtained results lies in the possibility of their application for designers and manufacturers in the design of children furniture.

Abstract:
Furniture industry is a large and complex global industry whose value growth is influence by multiple stakeholders (Epede & Wang, 2022). Rapid urbanisation, population growth, real estate and hotel industry expansion, and rising consumer spending power have all contributed to the furniture industry's expansion. (Market Watch, 2019; Polish Investment & Trade Office in Shanghai, 2017). From 2018 to 2025, the global furniture market, which was valued at USD 480.7 billion in 2017 and is anticipated to rise at a CAGR of 5.1 percent, will expand. (Grand View Research, 2018). To provide storage space and an aesthetically pleasing appearance in homes and offices, furniture is a crucial component of both the residential and commercial sectors. The expectations and desires of consumers have changed as a result of the furniture industry's rapid development. Children's furniture serves as a toy as much as a product. (Zeng Yuan & Shi Yi, 2021). Numerous manufacturers are interested in the market due to the continued growth of sales of children's furniture in particular. However, the segmentation of the Chinese furniture market is insufficient, and the market for children's furniture has not yet been established. (M. H. Bornstein, D. L. Putnick, and G. Esposito, 2020). Children need a better atmosphere to grow up in, with a focus on their furniture, both physically and mentally. Modern children's physical and psychological development traits are not taken into account by children's furniture, which can only be used temporarily. (Wenbo Zhang & Si Li, 2022). The question of this paper is what are important of the children's psychological needs in children's furniture design toward product satisfactory. Hence, the objective of study is to analyse the significant of psychological needs in design and development of children's furniture toward product satisfactory. Nowadays, the digitisation of products occupies a very significant space in the product market, as incorporating new functionalities means satisfying new needs for users. Likewise, there is a debate between the programmed obsolescence of products that use technology within their useful life. This work aims to connect the benefits provided by technology within products by projecting a proposal that has a longer useful life thanks to the adaptation of the product to the user. It deals with the design of children's furniture, an intelligent cot, which adjusts to the needs of the first stage of life by including sensors and components that improve the baby's rest, and which, in turn, incorporates modularity in its design to be able to adapt to the following stages of the child's life up to the age of 12. The proposed methodology incorporates a series of methods and techniques that provide a 5-phase structure that includes a group of experts who work transversally in the product design process to strengthen decision-making and prioritisation of the needs raised. Several alternatives are developed and, thanks to the evaluation based on the needs extracted at the beginning of the process together with the design requirements, the one that best satisfies both areas is chosen. Abstract:
People residing in urban environments, particularly children inhabiting apartments, often contend with limited space for movement. Children require sufficient space for physical activity to support their physical and psychological development. This study analyzes furniture design's influence on children's development. It employs a qualitative research approach with a phenomenological orientation and descriptive analysis. The data collection methods employed in this study encompass literature review, observation, and interviews. The study's participants consist of infants (newborn to 18 months) and toddlers (18 to 36 months) residing in apartments within Kalibata City, along with their caregivers. The study's findings indicate that furniture within confined spaces is not adequately tailored to children's activities and needs, consequently negatively impacting their physical and psychological well-being. Therefore, a furniture redesign to accommodate children's activities and support their development is imperative. This research recommends optimizing furniture design, encompassing construction systems, materials, safety measures, dimensions, and age-appropriate usage. The insights gleaned from this study hold significant value for the real estate industry, furniture design sector, interior design profession, and consumers.

Abstract:
Purpose From an interpretive semiology perspective this paper examines the meaning suggested by the absence of children in newspaper advertisements, commercial websites and catalogue images of children’s furniture manufacturers. The purpose of the paper is to highlight the multilayered process involved in conveying meaning to the “parent-child cluster” consumer through press and online advertisements designed by children’s furniture manufacturers. Design/methodology/approach A corpus of 200 press advertisements and catalogues produced by children's furniture manufacturers (particularly IKEA and Gautier) was analysed using a combination of Barthes’ (1964) visual analysis and Greimas’ (1987) narrative approach to visual discourses. Findings The scenes portrayed to shape the message addressed to the “parent-child cluster“ consumer, suggest that, in addition to fostering positive values such as self-fulfilment and stimulating background for an active child, they also promote discourses about contemporary childhood and parenthood. Originality/value This paper highlights how furniture retailers through the figurative choices they make to portray a child bedroom and to organize a series of child bedroom images within a catalogue, generate a brand discourse aiming to typify representations of childhood imbued with diverse cognitive, social and emotional dimensions within diverse cultural backgrounds.

Abstract:
The design evaluation method of furniture products was explored for modular children’s wooden storage cabinets. An evaluation model consisting of the Kano model, hierarchical analysis, and grey relational analysis is proposed. A 25-member panel of experts was involved in the development of the evaluation guidelines and the scoring of the program. The expert group used the KJ method to obtain evaluation guidelines for modular children’s wooden furniture that met the requirements of the hierarchical analysis method and screened the functional indicators through 103 validated questionnaires for the Kano model. The evaluation guidelines of modularized children’s wooden storage cabinets were thus obtained, which are both comprehensive and targeted. Then, hierarchical analysis and grey relational analysis were combined to select the solution with the highest grey weighted correlation result as the best solution. The feasibility of the grey comprehensive evaluation method, which combines subjective preference and objective empowerment, in the field of furniture was confirmed through the practice of selecting the best of the three modular children’s wooden storage cabinet design solutions, and the evaluation preference of the modular children’s wooden storage cabinet was uncovered. The design model provides an innovative evaluation tool for children’s furniture manufacturers to optimize their sales strategies.

Abstract:
This research describes the application of a scientific and technological model of Ergonomics in the design of pre-school furniture. The constant presence of the desk in early education and its influence in the relationship between the user and his educational environment determined the necessity of this project. The pre-school desk was considered as a “work station”, where the joint aspects of education and child anthropometry substantiate the problem. The review of the Historical application of Ergonomics in the Design of children's products consolidated the importance of this report. The development of ergonomic research, characterised by investigations of the Brazilian child's Anthropometric Data and Biomechanical Features, resulted in dimensional parameters of the user and physical characteristics of the present furniture. These elements, together with a comprehension of activities and needs in the pre-school, were connected with aspects of bibliographical revision to result in a series of recomendations for design. Through the methods of Ergonomic Design, a new proposal for the pre-school desk was developed, denominated “Mobipresc 3.6”.

Abstract:
AbstractThis project consists of making children's furniture by using a circular production model, where the entire ma- nufacturing process, from obtaining the raw material to its disposal, generates the least possible environmental impact. An extensive investigation was carried out about the processes that furniture has to go through to be considered sustainable. The research was divided into three important variables: Circular Economy, Furniture and User. It first started with the investigation of the concept of Circular Economy. Starting from these concepts, the characteristics to be taken into account to the making of furniture for children were established from the design premises, materials, fabrications, distribution and life cycle, which resulted in a product that's versatile and adaptable to possible various ages of the user. Most of the current furniture proposals are not thought from sustainability. Therefore it is necessary that a first step is taken as designers, incorporating sustainability criteria to the projects carried out in order to encourage ecological and social awareness to the public while meeting the needs. Keywords: Cesign of product, sustainability, furniture.

Abstract:
This paper considers one of the key production problems associated with the production of environmentally friendly particle boards (reinforced wood particle board) based on aminoformaldehyde binders that meet all the necessary requirements of modern standards. One of the promising solutions to this problem can be the use of reactive technological additive, which has a complex action: catalyst for curing the binder and acceptor of free formaldehyde contained in the binder. The proposed action will allow to produce boards with high physical and mechanical characteristics and minimum content of free formaldehyde, which can indicate a high quality of the products and expand the scope of these composite materials, including production of furniture for home and children's institutions.

Institutions such as orphanages are needed throughout Indonesia for the welfare and protection of children's rights. Pontianak City has the largest population in West Kalimantan Province with the welfare and protection of children's rights cannot be said to be feasible. This design uses an inclusive design approach. Inclusive design is a design approach that focuses on meeting the needs of children both socially and physically, it requires a facility and product for everyone (as users) in general, without physical limitations, age range and gender. The purpose of this design is to design an orphanage that can meet the needs of orphans and children with special needs. The design is carried out using the Design Thinking method, namely by collecting ideas from various literatures to obtain a solution. The results of this design are an orphanage that can accommodate the needs of orphanage children in the form of buildings with rooms arranged in a zoning manner, the shape of the building is made thin to maximize natural lighting and ventilation, the park as an open space for children's social activities, and self-development facilities for children in the form of recreation rooms and hydroponic gardens. The orphanage also uses room facilities with railings, guiding blocks, braille letters, efficient furniture for everyone to use, including for children with disabilities with an inclusive design approach.

Abstract:
Following the rapid technological progress, economic development and improvement of living conditions in China, attention has been paid not only to the practical suitability of everyday goods, furniture and household appliances, food and cosmetics, but also to the design, ergonomics and uniqueness of each thing. As a result, the upbringing and development of design thinking among the younger generation has become of great importance. Nevertheless, design-oriented educational programs appeared relatively late in the country, and children's education in the field of design has remained a rather rare phenomenon. The article examines the importance of art education for the development of design thinking in children using a number of practical examples. The scientific novelty of the study is a comparative analysis of methods of teaching design to children in the framework of extracurricular art education in China and other countries of the world – the USA and Japan. As a result of the research, a number of problems existing in children's art education are identified, ways of solving them are proposed that may be of practical value for teachers and educators of other countries. The role of the family, the state and society in the formation and development of design thinking in children is revealed. The importance of socio-cultural resources in attracting children to creative activities in the field of design has been established.

Abstract:
This study focuses on the influence of the degree of visual connections in playrooms on peer interaction between children 21 to 36 months old. In two day care centres, the arrangement of the furniture inside the playrooms were manipulated in order to compare the influence of two contrasting spatial arrangements: a visually open arrangement providing children with a high degree of visual connection within the playroom; and an arrangement with major visual boundaries partitioning the playroom. The findings show that the latter type of spatial arrangement had a negative impact on peer interactions. Conversely, when the spatial arrangement was visually open, children spent more time interacting with peers, and these peer interactions were more affiliative and less conflictual. Furthermore, the positive interactions occurred in longer episodes. These results are discussed as a function of the adaptive flexibility of 2-year-old children's competence in interacting with peers, when they have to cope with an environmental constraint that restricts the visual accessibility to adult caregivers.

Provision of parks in urban areas must consider the needs of children. The existence of a child-friendly park has a goal to fulfill children's rights. Child-friendly parks are closely related to Child Friendly City which is one of the things that the City of Semarang wants to achieve. Children's activities in the playground will be more meaningful if safe and comfortable facilities are available so that children do not feel bored. The purpose of this study was to assess the condition of the park in the city of Semarang as a child-friendly park. Based on this assessment, an evaluation of the provision of child-friendly parks in the city of Semarang was compiled. The method used is scoring. After knowing the score for each park, the percentage of the park as a child-friendly park is calculated. The results showed that Taman Bumi Rejo, Kedondong, and Citra Satwa were suitable as child-friendly parks. Meanwhile, Tirto Agung Park cannot be said to be a child-friendly park because there are several indicators that have not been met. The evaluation given is that special care and supervision is needed so that the condition of the park is suitable as a place for children to play. Some facilities need updating such as play furniture, soft mats, and toilets. This research can be useful for the Semarang City government in improving the condition of the park so that it is safer for children.

Abstract:
This paper examines the possession of family wealth and its impact on the academic achievement of primary school students in Eastern Uganda. A correlational survey design was employed to analyse UWEZO secondary data collected from eight districts in the eastern region of Uganda, encompassing 6,302 children and 6,031 families. Descriptive statistics and Pearson chi-square tests were employed for data analysis. The findings indicate that socio-economic factors positively influence children's literacy and numeracy achievements. Families possessing solar lighting, mobile phones, tables, chairs, textbooks, and a reliable source of water demonstrated higher proficiency in literacy and numeracy skills. It is likely that children in households with these possessions were able to engage in private study at home, given the conducive study environment, well-lit rooms, essential furniture, and access to textbooks. Furthermore, these children were more likely to receive additional tutoring after school and had access to the internet through mobile phones and computers, allowing them to access crucial educational information. Based on these findings, we recommend that the government provide sustainable livelihood options for struggling families.

Abstract:
The current fast track urban development process is an important characteristic of the city of Doha. No exploration or examination of its urban spaces, however, has been done before. This paper offers an experiential assessment of three key urban open spaces by examining their spatial and physical characteristics while implementing direct systematic observation and behavioural mapping procedure. Assessment results reveal important outcomes that include absence of physical aspects amenable for effective use while offering a pleasant experience for visitors. The findings contribute to an in-depth understanding of the qualities of the three spaces and the resulting use, activities, and behaviour representative of the inhabitants' spatial experience in those spaces. While the overall experience of users appear to be satisfactory, the results convey that there is an absence of landscape features and a dearth of green spaces and appropriate outdoor furniture, absence of adequate shaded areas and shading devices and a lack of children's facilities or specially designated areas for children. Addressing the lack of features that enhance people's activities and use of these spaces would contribute to making the spaces more conducive for use by different types of users and at different days and times.

Abstract:
Anthropomorphism—the attribution of human characteristics to non-human animals or inanimate objects—is commonplace in many cultures around the world, but is particularly prominent and pervasive in Japan. Talking furniture on children's TV, vegetable mascots for city governments, an animated letter ‘e’ to promote online tax returns—there seems to be no limit to what can be anthropomorphized, and no corner of the culture where it is considered out of place. This of course includes efforts to communicate science, where we can find test tube narrators, angry viruses, friendly chemical elements, and a whole lot more. Scientists, on the other hand, are less enthusiastic about anthropomorphism in scientific discussions and tend to consider it to be inaccurate and unscientific. In science, thinking or communicating in anthropomorphic terms is generally derided. Where, then, does this leave the talking microbes and smiling proteins of Japanese science communication? While the literature has quite a lot to say about anthropomorphism, there is nothing specifically about its use for science communication. This paper draws on examples from Japan to consider the potential roles of anthropomorphism in the communication of science and related issues.

Abstract:
The study examines the effects of social media (SM), online platforms (OP) and digital instruments (DI) on participants' communication and the structure of the participatory design processes (PDPs). It addresses a gap in the literature by exploring the potential of these SM and OP to enhance stakeholders' involvement in PDPs. Through a case study of a participatory children's furniture design project involving diverse stakeholders, including children, parents, scholars, specialists, industry, university and the community, the study investigates how SM, OP and DI facilitate enriched and expedited communication in PDPs. The paper discusses these tools' challenges and opportunities within a conceptual framework. A mixed methodology approach is employed for data collection, incorporating observations, surveys, interviews and various participatory activities. By examining the findings, the study seeks to answer two key research questions: How do SM and OP influence communication patterns in PDPs? What is the impact of these DI on the structure and dynamics of the PDPs? The study proposes an innovative approach to overcome associated challenges. The positive effects of SM, OP and DI can significantly reshape the nature of participation in PDPs, such as the number of participants, the duration of the process and budget limitations.

Abstract

Children are prospective future generations of nations and countries where children must be creative and have potential intellectual abilities. In this paper we will discuss more about the impact of interior elements in kindergarten learning spaces, where at this age Children spend a lot of time in their classrooms. Kindergarten study rooms should be full of fun, not make children depressed, and increase children's creativity. Factors that play a role in supporting child development in kindergartens are the quality of the teacher, the program of activities and the physical environment. So that the program of activities can run well and optimal child development, it needs to be supported by the classroom as part of the physical environment, which is in accordance with the needs and development of children. The general objective of this study is to examine the impact of both positive and negative interior elements for the kindergarten learning space, which analyzed what needs to be added or subtracted in order to help achieve the curriculum targets of each school. The specific objective is to create education that provides a sense of security and fun for children aged 4-6 years, given that kindergarten is one of the early forms of school education known to children and is considered to be their second home. In this paper the authors analyze the interior elements in the kindergarten study room, namely on the floor, walls, ceiling, and furniture. The problem found is the lack of space for children to imagine and design learning spaces that are related to the needs of children or students. And the suggestion from the writer is that a good kindergarten classroom is to minimize items or furniture that are lacking in multifunctionality. So that the room can have a part that can provide opportunities for children to imagine creatively.

Abstrak

Anak adalah calon generasi penerus bangsa dan negara dimana anak haruslah kreatif serta memiliki potensi kemampuan intelektual. New York: Workman Publishing, 1989; list price $12.95 (No. 3 on the 1989 bestseller list of books on child care from Ingram Book Co., distributors of trade books). This book is a thorough, month-by-month account of health and development in the first 12 months of life. Additional chapters address: selecting a physician, purchasing baby clothes, furniture and equipment, and making decisions about circumcision, breast and/or bottle feeding. Advice on lifestyle and career issues, paternal leave, and child care is practicable and presented without alienating sanctimony. Alleviation of parental anxiety is a central focus. However, the authors appear cavalier and ill-informed when they suggest that parents should ignore most developmental delays and avoid developmental comparisons among children. Much more valuable are the messages about discipline—the authors teach sensitive, supportive parenting skills with emphasis on developing children's self-esteem and independence through encouragement and preventative behavior management. The text's medical coverage is comprehensive and current, addressing such topics as APGARs, reflexes, SIDS, preventing Reye's Syndrome, benign heart murmurs, and various first-aid treatments. Issues in nutrition, feeding and baby food recipes are also covered. The comprehensive index and table of contents make the book easy to use, although the assumption of intact families with resources, the detailed presentation of topics and difficult reading level, suggest that the book is most useful to educated parents.

Abstract:
With the differentiation of the furniture market, there is a growing demand for children’s furniture. The design of children’s furniture must fully consider the special cognition and preference of children, highlight environmental friendliness and health, and benefit the physical and mental development of children. These design objectives are similar to those of green furniture. Therefore, it is necessary to accurately evaluate the quality of green manufacturing, the key link of green furniture production, with the aid of the excellent data processing technique of artificial intelligence (AI). Thus, this paper summarizes the AI applications in quality testing of children’s furniture and statistical analysis on its greenness, and constructs an evaluation model for green manufacturing quality of children’s furniture. Firstly, the authors introduced the architecture of the green manufacturing system for children’s furniture, and analyzed the product lifecycle and environmental pollutions. On this basis, a complete and scientific evaluation index system (EIS) was constructed. Next, the weight coefficients of the goal layer and criteria layer were determined by the entropy method, and the initial evaluation result were provided. Finally, a comprehensive evaluation model was established for the green manufacturing quality of children’s furniture, based on backpropagation neural network (BPNN), and genetic algorithm with adaptive mutation (AMGA). The proposed EIS and model were proved effective through experiments. The research results provide a reference for the quality evaluation in other fields.

Abstract:
To explore how children’s furniture can become a tool of parent-child interaction, so that furniture can not only satisfy children’s curiosity, but also bring new feelings and experiences to parents and children. It is necessary to establish a bond of love between parents and children by adding parent-child interaction projects. This children’s furniture will give children a warm family life experience. Background analysis of parent-child interaction furniture design was conducted by means of data search and market research to explore children’s physiological and psychological characteristics. It is necessary to analyze parent-child interaction mode and its elements and try to make compound chairs have interactive functions so that compound chairs can bring good interaction experience to parents and children. As a result, this compound chair can meet user needs. The design features of parent-child interactive furniture are analyzed with the physiological characteristics of children as the design elements. Personally interactive furniture can create an interactive world for children and parents in a limited living space. It is able to promote the emotional exchange between parents and children, create a space conducive to children’s physiological and psychological growth. Ultimately, this kind of interactive furniture can promote the physical and mental health of children.
