Abstract:
Children of today are citizens of tomorrow, hence improving nutritional status among children becomes extremely important for all the nations. The raw data collected from the Lakhimpur district reveals that the burden of overall nutritional deficiency among children is still too high; on average, two in every five (37%) children had at least one kind of nutritional deficiency. However, the nutritional status of female children has improved over time compared to the male children, but the overall decline is not satisfactory. We have observed a higher inequality of nutritional deficiency among children in Assam by household wealth status (Gini value= 0.498) compared to the mother's education level (Gini value = 0.067). Therefore, it's an urgent need to expand the scope of the ICDS program to provide mass nutrition and health education by making provisions for home visits and primarily targeting pregnant and lactating mothers.

Abstract:
Diarrhea is an endemic disease in Indonesia and has the potential to cause outbreaks that are often accompanied by death, even the mortality rate during outbreaks in 2017, amounting to 1.97%, had not yet reached the expected target by the government, which is less than 1%. This study aims to determine the distribution of sex, age, nutritional status based on weight/age, and how to leave the hospital for chronic diarrhea patients and to know the correlation between nutritional status based on weight/age and death cases of chronic diarrhea in children under five years old treated at RSUD Dr. Soetomo in the period 2015-2019. This research was a retrospective analytical and descriptive study using secondary data from a patient's electronic medical record. Results showed that out of 45 chronic diarrhea patients, 28 (62,2%) were male, 16 (35,6%) children were in the 0 - 5 months age group, 18 (40,0%) children had good nutritional status, 39 (86,7%) children were discharged from the hospital, and there was a significant correlation between nutritional status based on weight/age and death cases of chronic diarrhea in children (p = 0,017). It could be concluded that the majority of children with chronic diarrhea were male, were in the 0 - 5 months age group, had good nutritional status, and were discharged from the hospital which meant that their condition had improved or cured and there was a significant correlation between nutritional status based on weight/age with death cases of chronic diarrhea in children.

Abstract:
Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, or ADHD, continues to be a complex condition to assess and treat, particularly in young children. Nevertheless, early diagnosis and treatment of ADHD are crucial because early intervention may help attenuate or even prevent certain undesirable effects in the lives of children and their families. This article provides a description of the disorder as manifested by children under five years of age. This is followed by a discussion of diagnostic issues. Finally, an integrated approach to treatment is suggested.

Abstract:
Background Pneumonia is the leading cause of death for children under 5 years of age in Bangladesh. Therefore, it is important to know the impact of Streptococcus Pneumonia to avert under 5 deaths in Bangladesh. Objective The study was to assess the magnitude of Pneumococcal infections among under 5 children in a tertiary level hospital in Bangladesh. Methods It was a cross-sectional study among under 5 children who were admitted in Dhaka Shishu Hospital with respiratory infections. Purposive sampling strategy was followed and 101 children with respiratory infections were selected as required sample size for the current study. Socio-demographic characteristics, location of kitchen and nature of fuel used by the respondents, nutritional status, weight, weight for age, duration of suffering and respiratory rate of the patients were analyzed in relation to Pneumococcal infections. Results Around 30% of the sample respondents had Pneumonia, 17% had Severe Pneumonia, 26% had been affected by Meningitis and the rest had been suffering from Sepsis. Mother’s higher education level had been linked up with the reduction of Pneumonia (p < .05). Additionally, mean difference of Nature of fuel used for cooking (p = .005), weight (p = .001) and weight for age (p = .001) were significantly differ among children with pneumococcal and non- Pneumococcal infection groups. Conclusion Educational status of the parents should be improved regarding overcrowding, smoke particularly during cooking and the nature of fuel. Again interventions like improved weight, weight for age and nutritional status under 5 children should be considered at a priority basis DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.3329/updcj.v2i2.15530 Update Dent. Abstract:
BACKGROUND: The high rate of stunting cases is a serious nutritious problem that still persists in Indonesia. The problem is potentially impactful on the quality of the country’s human resources. AIM: This present study aimed to analyze the determinant factors of stunting cases in 24–59-month-old children in the working area of Puskesmas or Community Health Center in Kota Tengah, Gorontalo. METHOD: The case-control survey analytical research involved a case population of 34 people and a control population of 34 people. All the participants were 24–59 months old. All case populations were treated as the research subject, while the control population was calculated based on the formula. A simple random sampling technique was employed to acquire the sample in the control group. The study involved independent variables of birth length, birth weight, provision of exclusive breastfeeding, and the number of siblings. Meanwhile, the dependent variable was the stunting cases in 24–59-month-old children. The data were analyzed by Chi-square (χ2) and multiple logistic regression statistical tests. RESULTS: The bivariate analysis that used the Chi-square suggested that the birth length (0.001) < (0.05), birth weight (0.003) < (0.05), and provision of exclusive breastfeeding (0.000) < (0.05) were the factors of stunting cases. Meanwhile, parity (1.72) > (0.05) was not a factor of stunting. Moreover, the multivariate analysis involving multiple logistic regression tests indicated that the provision of exclusive breastfeeding (0.006) served as the determinant factor of stunting cases. CONCLUSIONS: The provision of exclusive breastfeeding is the most significant determinant factor of stunting cases.

Abstract:
Objective: The objectives of this study are to describe the differentials and associated risk factors of malnutrition among under-five children in Bangladesh. Material & Methods: The data extracted from Bangladesh Demographic and Health Survey (BDHS)-2007. Basic anthropometric variables were used for finding prevalence of anthropometric indices (stunting, wasting and under weight) to assess child’s nutritional statuses. Chi- Square test and Logistic Regression technique were used to find out the significant factors associated with child’s nutritional status. Results: The study results showed the high prevalence of stunting and underweight, for instance 42% and 40% of under-five children were stunted and underweighted respectively. The analyses of the study also revealed that household economic status, mother’s education, father’s education, mother’s antenatal visit (s), mother’s age at birth and mother’s BMI are the most significant factor /determinant s of child’s malnutrition. Conclusion: The magnitude of the Child’s malnutrition still is of great concern in Bangladesh. Significant association between maternal related factors and child’s nutritional status has been found in this study. For improving the nutritional status of children or for getting healthy babies the intervention program(s) must connect not only children but also newly mothers and prospective mothers. Abstract:
A cross-sectional study was carried out in Dumki Upazila of Patuakhali district in Bangladesh to assess the prevalence of stunting, wasting and underweight among the under-five children. Anthropometric measurements were taken from all children, aged 0-59 months in the studied area using wooden height board and digital weight machine. We used WHO Anthro software for analyzing the z scores of the children. A total of 4409 (2296 boys and 2113 girls) under five children were counted for anthropometric analysis. Regarding the Height-for-age Z-score (HAZ), the study revealed that the prevalence of stunting was 27.10% (95% CI: 25.8-28.5) of the children while 7.80% (95% CI: 7-8.6) were severe stunting. By assessing the Weight-for-height Z-score (WHZ), the study showed that 11.20% (95% CI: 10.3-12.1) were wasting whereas 3% (95% CI 2.5-3.5) were severe wasting. According to Weight-for-age Z-score (WAZ), about 18.20% (95% CI: 17-19.3) were underweight and 4.1% (95% CI: 3.5-4.7) were underweight. The findings of the study show that prevalence of stunting is very high. Focusing on childhood stunting is a high priority, and there should be comprehensive efforts to increase the overall nutritional status of the under-five children in this area.

Abstract:
Introduction: High screen time is defined as activities in front of a screen for more than 60 minutes in 24 hours. These activities can lead to a decreased rate of physical activities in under-five children and pose a risk of turning into gaming addiction or gaming disorder. This study aimed to identify the relationship between screen time and physical activities in under-five children at PAUD Al Azhaar Tulungagung.Method: This study was designed as a correlational study with a cross-sectional approach with a purposive sampling technique. The population in this study was all mothers and children aged 24-60 months at PAUD Al Azhaar Tulungagung totaling 35 people. The number of samples was 31 respondents. The study was conducted at one of PAUD in Tulungagung area. Instruments for collecting data in this study were modified screen time and PAQ-C questionnaires to measure physical activities. Results: The results show that nearly all (83.9%) respondents had high screen time and the majority of them (51.6%) displayed decreased physical activities. An analysis with Spearman’s Rank statistical test obtained a p-value of 0.00 <α 0.05, meaning that there is a relationship between screen time and physical activities in under-five children at PAUD Al Azhaar Tulungagung. A correlation coefficient of -0.701 shows that there is a negative (inverse) and strong relationship. Conclusions: Parents play a significant role in directing positive screen time for children and encouraging them to be physically active instead of spending time in front of a screen.
