Abstract:
Abstract This article proposes a set of function-based criteria for identifying paratextual elements in manuscript texts. With *Tang zai Chimen and *Tang chu yu Tangqiu as examples, I show how their narrative frames perform functions akin to titles, authors’ names, and prefaces. This approach offers a new explanation for the prevalence of the anecdote genre as well as a renewed understanding of the functions of the paratext.

Abstract:
Di Qi is called Di Zhen in “ Tang zai Chimen” from the fifth volume of Tsinghua bamboo slip manuscripts. Di Zhen reminds us of Nü Tian in Chu silk manuscripts, which can be read as Nü Zhen, another name of Nü Wa. The world-creating god Nü Wa is called Nü Zhen because zhen ren seems to have enlarged its scope, from those who preserve their essence, or those who hold the Dao, to the Sage, the Perfect Man, and emperors. Di qi are also referred to as di zhen because they are the gods of earth. Moreover, Nü Zhen in the Chu Silk Manuscript also suggests its tendency to Daoism.

Abstract In order to evaluate the quantity of twelve PAHs (Naphthalene, Tetraphan and Acenaphthylene Fluorene, Phenanthrene, Anthracene, Pyrene, Benzo [a] Anthracene, Ovalene, Chrysene, Benzo [a] fluoranthene and DiBenzo [ah] Anthracene) in the soil samples from Kirkuk province, seven sites (Ras El-Gesr, Benja Ali, Wahed Hozeran, North Oil Company (NOC), Lillan, Kubri and Chimen) were selected using Gas Chromatography (GC) during the autumn 2017 and winter 2018. The results showed that the highest concentration of individual hydrocarbons during the autumn season was for the Acenaphthylene compound in the NOC site 131.19 μg/kg, and for Naphthalene compound, was 100.543μg/kg. The NOC recorded the highest concentration of total hydrocarbons 891.65 μg/kg. For the winter season, the highest concentration of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons was recorded for the Fluorene compound at the NOC site 79.19 μg/kg. Fluorene and Naphthalene compounds achieved the highest averages for the season (43.24 and 42.984 μg/kg) respectively, and recorded the location of the NOC, the highest summation of total hydrocarbons amounted to 609.77 μg/kg.

Abstract:
In this study, vitamers of vitamins B6 (pyridoxine; PN, pyridoxal; PL, pyridoxamine; PM) and B12 (cobalamins) in cooked or processed chicken (n=21) were analyzed and the analytical performance parameters were evaluated. The levels of B6 and B12 vitamers were significantly different in terms of the breeds, cooking method, and the parts of the chicken (p⟨0.05). Ogolgye (boiled) (61.48 μg/100 g) and roasted chicken wings (131.94 μg/100 g) showed the highest levels of total vitamin B6 (PN+PL+PM) among the four breeds of chiken and the cooked or processed chiken, respectively. For cyanocobalamin, Korean native chicken (0.40 μg/100 g) and chicken skewers (0.68 μg/100 g) showed the highest levels among the four breeds of chicken and the cooked or processed chiken, respectively. Analysis of B6 vitamers using high performance liquid chromatography-florescence detector (HPLC-FLD) showed a coefficient of variation (CV) of 0.4-4.6% for repeatability and 4.2-5.9% for reproducibility, showing good precision. Likewise, vitamin B12 analysis using immunoaffinity-HPLC-photodiode array detector (PDA) showed a CV of 5.7% for repeatability and 5.9% for reproducibility. Recoveries of B6 and B12 vitamers were 94.3-100.2%, showing good accuracy. Unlike many previous studies that evaluated PN only, this study provides a more accurate estimation of the total B6 content of cooked or processed chiken, including the contents of PN, PL, and PM, which can be used to revise the Korean food composition table.

La importancia del film no tiene que ver únicamente por lo que se muestra, sino también por la aproximación socio-histórica que realiza y por los elementos de nuestra identidad que devela, ya que todo lo que está en el cine ha estado presente antes en la historia del hombre, ya sea como realidad o como fantasía. Resulta absolutamente imposible separar una creación audiovisual del entorno o contexto social en el cual es producida. Abstract:
Retinal image properties such as contrast and spatial frequency play important roles in the development of normal vision. For example, visual environments comprised solely of low contrast and/or low spatial frequencies induce myopia. The visual image is processed by the retina and it then locally controls eye growth. In terms of the retinal neurotransmitters that link visual stimuli to eye growth, there is strong evidence to suggest involvement of the retinal dopamine (DA) system. For example, effectively increasing retinal DA levels by using DA agonists can suppress the development of form-deprivation myopia (FDM). However, whether visual feedback controls eye growth by modulating retinal DA release, and/or some other factors, is still being elucidated. This thesis is chiefly concerned with the relationship between the dopaminergic system and retinal image properties in eye growth control. More specifically, whether the amount of retinal DA release reduces as the complexity of the image degrades was determined. For example, we investigated whether the level of retinal DA release decreased as image contrast decreased. In addition, the effects of spatial frequency, spatial energy distribution slope, and spatial phase on retinal DA release and eye growth were examined. When chicks were 8-days-old, a cone-lens imaging system was applied monocularly (+30 D, 3.3 cm cone). A short-term treatment period (6 hr) and a longer-term treatment period (4.5 days) were used. The short-term treatment tests for the acute reduction in DA release by the visual stimulus, as is seen with diffusers and lenses, whereas the 4.5 day point tests for reduction in DA release after more prolonged exposure to the visual stimulus. In the contrast study, 1.35 cyc/deg square wave grating targets of 95%, 67%, 45%, 12% or 4.2% contrast were used. Blank (0% contrast) targets were included for comparison. In the spatial frequency study, both sine and square wave grating targets with either 0.017 cyc/deg and 0.13 cyc/deg fundamental spatial frequencies and 95% contrast were used. In the spectral slope study, 30% root-mean-squared (RMS) contrast fractal noise targets with spectral fall-off of 1/f0.5, 1/f and 1/f2 were used. In the spatial alignment study, a structured Maltese cross (MX) target, a structured circular patterned (C) target and the scrambled versions of these two targets (SMX and SC) were used. Each treatment group comprised 6 chicks for ocular biometry (refraction and ocular dimension measurement) and 4 for analysis of retinal DA release. Vitreal dihydroxyphenylacetic acid (DOPAC) was analysed through ion-paired reversed phase high performance liquid chromatography with electrochemical detection (HPLC-ED), as a measure of retinal DA release. For the comparison between retinal DA release and eye growth, large reductions in retinal DA release possibly due to the decreased light level inside the cone-lens imaging system were observed across all treated eyes while only those exposed to low contrast, low spatial frequency sine wave grating, 1/f2, C and SC targets had myopic shifts in refraction. Amongst these treatment groups, no acute effect was observed and longer-term effects were only found in the low contrast and 1/f2 groups. These findings suggest that retinal DA release does not causally link visual stimuli properties to eye growth, and these target induced changes in refractive development are not dependent on the level of retinal DA release. Retinal dopaminergic cells might be affected indirectly via other retinal cells that immediately respond to changes in the image contrast of the retinal image.

This project has purposed the passage from chilean capitalist regime to socialism based on the maintance of the establishment, without insurrections or armed conflicts. Such formulation had a great repercussion in the political project of the Popular Unity, wich had conducted Salvador Allende to Presidency of the Republic in 1970. To accomplish this research it was made use of a bibliography as source about the Popular Unity and about the subject of our research, many documents from the Communist Party, and personal witness by the same way, which constitutes oral source for the studies in History. In the Introduction, we had made a characterization from the Communist Party and from the original project of this research, that will be separated into the first and the second chapters, such as a chilean political and economical contextualization. In Chapter I we had upraised some arguments occurred about the peaceful way to socialism. We had tried even to identify the political development of the Comunist Party along it s policy of alliances and it s fundaments in several presidential elections. In Chapter II we looked forward to reflect how the mentioned questions from the past Chapter will influence the formulation of The Chilean Revolution, it s repercussions among the left-side parties and the for the Popular Unity consolidation to face the 1970´s elections. In Chapter III then we looked forward to analyze, from the Communist Party documents written between 1970 and 1973, the political behavior of the Party in the Alludes government quotidian<br>Este trabalho tem como proposta conhecer, compreender e acompanhar o esforço para a implantação do projeto via chilena ao socialismo , idealizado pelo Partido Comunista do Chile. Este projeto propunha a passagem do regime capitalista chileno para o socialista a partir da manutenção da institucionalidade, sem insurreições ou luta armada. Essa formulação teve uma grande repercussão no projeto político da Unidade Popular que levou à Presidência da República Salvador Allende em 1970. Para realizar essa pesquisa foram utilizadas como fonte uma bibliografia sobre a Unidade Popular e sobre o nosso objeto de pesquisa, diversos documentos do PC, assim como depoimentos pessoais que se constituem fonte oral para estudos da História. Na introdução, realizamos uma caracterização do PC e do projeto que se desdobrará no primeiro e segundo capítulo, assim como uma contextualização do sistema econômico e político chileno. No Capítulo I levantamos algumas discussões realizadas sobre a via pacífica ao socialismo. Também procuramos identificar o desenvolvimento político do Partido Comunista através da sua política de alianças e seus fundamentos em diversas eleições presidenciais. Procuramos no Capítulo II refletir como as questões apontadas no capítulo anterior vão influenciar na formulação da Revolução Chilena, sua repercussão entre os partidos de esquerda e a consolidação da Unidade Popular para disputar as eleições de 1970. TESIS PARA OPTAR AL GRADO DE MAGÍSTER EN FINANZAS<br>El presente trabajo examina el efecto de los partidos de fútbol de la Selección Nacional de Chile en el mercado nacional de acciones. Es sabido que el fútbol es uno de los deportes más importantes a nivel mundial, siendo la Copa del Mundo su máximo exponente. En Chile la situación no es diferente, ya que según una encuesta realizada por ADIMARK, el año 2014, los resultados arrojaron que el 50% de la población dice interesarle el fútbol. Por otro lado, el Índice de Precios Selectivo de Acciones (IPSA), es considerado el mejor indicador de resultados financieros en el mercado chileno de acciones, ya que es ahí donde se agrupan los rendimientos de las principales empresas del país. La lista de empresas componentes es estable, y las acciones se transan activamente, lo que implica un alto nivel de liquidez. Estos dos temas, gracias a la literatura de Finanzas Conductuales, estarían sumamente relacionados, ya que varios estudios proponen y concluyen que muchas de las decisiones financieras de los individuos se basan constantemente en el ánimo de éstos y no sólo de aspectos racionales. Los resultados del estudio, demostraron que no existen una relación entre el ánimo de los individuos medido a través de los resultados deportivos y los rendimientos financieros del mercado Chileno, utilizando 2 metodologías muy diferentes, se llegaron a las mismas º de que las decisiones financieras de los inversores en Chile, no se basa en aspectos irracionales como el estado de ánimo asociado al futbol.

Abstract:
Extant literature on Nueva Cancion Chilena or New Chilean Song (NCCh), a musical genre emerging in 1960s Chile, concerns itself largely with the socio-historical context and function of NCCh at the expense of the song as musical artefact. The present study aims to reverse this concern, proposing a new theoretical approach which temporarily suspends contextual considerations and focuses on the artefact itself. The study assumes a tripartite structure wherein the first part discusses problems of definition and biography in NCCh research, the second introduces the theoretical frameworks of persona and embodiment as means to discern and conceptualize the artefact's resonant quality, and, lastly, the third applies an analytic model from popular music studies and cultural studies to uncover the musical artefact's subject dimension, i.e. the work's author-mask as disclosed by its discernable attributes. The study throughout concentrates on NCCh as practiced by one of its leading exponents Victor Jara.

Chilean coastal cities grow and expand rapidly due to the development of real estate projects that replace natural systems with urbanized land. This change probably decreases post-disaster adaptation, and negatively affects the ecological dimension of resilience. The objective is to characterize the resilience capacity of Chilean cities exposed to tsunami, from the point of view of the ecological dimension. The socio-spatial analysis of land use, urbanization and population of 10 representative cities of the 53 exposed to tsunami, indicated that the urban occupation of the mountain range varies the availability and diversity of landscapes for adaptation in case of tsunami. However, these landscapes vary more noticeably latitudinally. The challenges and possibilities of including these landscapes in city planning are discussed in the context of the new DRR regulatory framework in Chile, broadening its perspective towards adaptation to disasters. Sin embargo, estos paisajes varían mas notoriamente en forma latitudinal. Los retos y posibilidades de incluir estos paisajes en la planificación de las ciudades se discuten en el contexto del nuevo marco regulatorio en RRD de Chile, ampliando su mirada hacia la adaptación frente al desastre. Resumen: La figura de Le Corbusier ejerció una influencia sin contrapeso en la arquitectura moderna chilena, caracterizada salvo excepciones, por una adopción superficial y figurativa de sus ideas y formas. Entre estas excepciones está el singular caso del arquitecto Juan Borchers Fernández (1910-75) quien mediante sus agudas observaciones y lúcida crítica expone su adhesión mientras al mismo tiempo desmonta las contradicciones, los errores de interpretación y las falencias de las tesis lecorbuserianas. Para el análisis se utilizaron dos libros fundamentales (Vers une Architecture, 1923; Le Modulor, 1950) y dos artículos (L’angle droit, 1923; L’espace indicible, 1946) de Le Corbusier y las referencias a ellos en los libros, artículos, manuscritos, correspondencia y libretas de viajes de Borchers. Abstract: Corbusier’s influence in Chilean modern architecture is unique and it is characterized, with few exceptions, by superficial and figurative adoptions of his ideas and forms. Among these exceptions is the singular case of the architect Juan Borchers Fernández (1910-1975), whose acute observations and lucid review expose his adherence while at the same time they reveal the contradictions, misinterpretations and shortcomings about corbuserian’s thesis. This analysis is based on two fundamental original books (Vers une Architecture, 1923; Le Modulor, 1950) and two articles (L’angle droit, 1923; L’espace indicible, 1946) by Le Corbusier and references to them in Borchers’ books, articles, manuscripts, correspondence and travel journals. Wooden construction has been present since the beginning of humanity, but today, faced with the effects of climate change and sustainability discourses, the use of wood as a construction material is presented as a sustainable option. In this sense, in the Latin American region, Chile is one of the most advanced countries in this matter, however, in comparative terms with Europe and North America, wood construction is still in its infancy. The development of wooden construction has been driven mainly by the two main forestry companies in Chile (ARAUCO and CMPC), who have implemented several initiatives to promote wooden construction, including the manufacture of CLT and high-tech prefabricated housing plants. , which has been promoted through a discourse of urban sustainability on the part of the forestry holdings that has been promoted by the State, but that hides the territorial tensions given in the production of the raw material, in local urban planning and in “sustainable” practices in the territories. Therefore, this article analyzes in multi-scale terms the territorial and discursive implications of the Chilean forestry sector associated with the industrialization of wooden construction, through a review of the state of the art referring to the forestry sector, the housing deficit, projects in wooden building and public policies related to the promotion of wooden building in Chile (corporate/institutional documents, web pages, magazines and promotional activities, residential projects, policies related to wooden construction, technical reconfiguration of the forestry industry, etc. ), and correlative discourse analysis to understand the industrialization process of wooden construction (coding based on the word "sustainability" and "construction"). In such a way that the article starts by making an introduction of what wooden construction is to contextualize the Chilean case. Then, the milestones that gave rise to the use of this material in the construction of residential projects are pointed out, pointing out who and where these events took place and under what discourses they were implemented. Continuing with the presentation of the role of the state and the promotion of wooden construction, through the various public policies that have been designed and established. Ending with a theoretical discussion about the discourses of sustainability and territorial planning. Keywords: wooden buildings, wooden housing projects, sustainable urban planning, territorial conflicts La edificación en madera ha estado presente desde los inicios de la humanidad, pero hoy en día, frente a los efectos del cambio climático y los discursos de sustentabilidad, el uso de la madera como material de construcción se presenta como una opción sostenible. En este sentido, en la región latinoamericana, Chile se presenta como de los países más avanzados en esta materia, no obstante, en términos comparativos con Europa y América del norte, aún se encuentra en un momento incipiente la construcción en madera. El desarrollo de la edificación en madera ha estado impulsada principalmente por las dos principales empresas forestales de Chile (ARAUCO y CMPC), quiénes han implementado varias iniciativas para fomentar la construcción en madera, incluida la fabricación de CLT y plantas de viviendas prefabricadas de alta tecnología, lo cual se ha potenciado a través de un discurso de sustentabilidad urbana por parte de los holdings forestales que ha sido impulsado por el Estado. Por tanto, el presente artículo analiza en términos multiescalares las implicaciones territoriales y discursivas del sector forestal chileno asociadas a la industrialización de la edificación en madera, a través de una revisión del estado del arte referidos al sector forestal, al déficit habitacional, a proyectos en edificación en madera y políticas públicas vinculadas al fomento de la edificación en madera en Chile, y correlativo análisis de discurso para entender el proceso de industrialización de la edificación en madera. De modo tal que el artículo parte haciendo una introducción de lo que es la edificación en madera para contextualizar el caso chileno. Luego, se señalan los hitos que dieron origen al uso de este material en la construcción de proyectos residenciales, señalando quiénes y dónde fueron estos hechos y bajo qué discursos se implementaron. Siguiendo con la presentación del rol del estado y el fomento de la edificación en madera, a través de las diversas políticas públicas que se han diseñado e instaurado. Finalizando con una discusión teórica acerca de los discursos de sustentabilidad y planificación territorial. Air natural convection in a vertical channel-chimney system with the channel walls symmetrically heated at a uniform heat flux has been experimentally investigated. Flow visualization photographs and average air temperatures are presented. Some profiles of air temperature fluctuations are reported, which point out the fluid flow interactions in the chinmey. The flow visualization showed that the cold air inflow penetrating into the chimney affects the thermal performance of the channel. The improvement in the thermal performance of the channel determined by the chimney effect, for various values of the process parameters, has also been pointed out. In all investigated configurations and ranges of the process parameters the air flow in the channel was laminar. The flow in the chimney is strongly affected by the aspect ratio. Moreover, at the lower values of the expansion ratio the flow was laminar in the chimney and in its lower corner a stable vortex was noticed whereas at larger values of the expansion ratio a cold ambient air downflow worsened the thermal performance of the system. Interactions between the thermal plume arising from the channel, the vortex in the comer in the inlet chimney region and the cold air inflow yield fluctuations in the air temperature in the system. The distribution of time averaged air temperature in the cross sections validates indications given by the flow visualization in the chimney.

Abstract:
In Chile, incentives have been created during the past years for the installation of non-conventional renewable energy plants (NCRE). It is within this context that wave energy can be transformed into a feasible alternative for electrical power generation in the near future within the country. This work corresponds to the first approach to quantify the wave energy resources in Chile based in a technically superior manner. The first step in the assessment of a wave energy plant is to quantify the available resources, therefore the wave climate was obtained for various sites along the Chilean coastline and a deterministic assessment was made of the power of the waves and their main characteristics, especially the variability under different time horizons. In order to convert the mechanical energy of the waves into electrical power, an assessment was made of various offshore devices existing on the market. An estimate was made of the output power of these conversion devices based on the wave climate and on the energy conversion matrixes that define them, performing an analysis that is completely analogue to that of wave power. Waves in the Chilean coast arrive year in and year out with scarce variation during the various seasons, are very regular, with low directional dispersion and high periods. This determines the low seasonal variability of the power and the high capacity factors that conversion devices can develop. The characteristics of waves in Chile are due mainly to the presence of swell usually found in great oceans, which makes Chilean territory one of the most appropriate sites in the world for the generation of electrical power with energy from the waves.

For this reason, in the last 5 years, the Ministry of Public Works, in reference to its current regulations (&lt;i&gt;Manual de Carreteras &lt;/i&gt;Code), in association with Chilean universities, has begun a study on the scour/undermining behavior of bridges in Chile. Within the current maintenance and asset management programs implemented on vulnerability and extreme events, in order to provide an adequate intervention decision, it is necessary to have an adequate cadaster and knowledge of the existing structures, with special focus on the older ones,.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;In this framework, this paper presents the evolution of the design of scour control elements in existing Chilean bridges of the 20th century (study of over 300 cases), allowing them to be compared with current design criteria. To this end, detailed design solutions for piers, abutments and bridge foundations from the 1920s to 2000s are presented, analyzing their vulnerability regarding current design conditions.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Chile has a special climatically and geographical environmental condition including the seismicity and scour process on riverbed. This condition produces a particular provision for design and maintenance program on bridges, in order to reduce the vulnerability of the structure avoiding risk of collapse condition on the critical road network Following the international experience related with the standardization of performance indicators on road bridges, the Ministry of Public Work of Chile and Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso are developing a program for applied these performance indicators an inspection protocols in order to match with the current Chilean maintenance program and reduce the uncertainties on technical decision of rehabilitation activities. This paper proposes performance indicators applied on Chile using a collection of inspection activities carried out by the Technical Teams of the Ministry. The proposed performance indicators are divided by region of the Chile in order to match with the main hazard and damages detected in each zone (North, central and Austral) and it is defining the importance for the inspections and maintenance program per each case, following the categories of Performance Indicator or Key Performance Indicator. Finally, these results are discussed compared with the result provided by European experience.&lt;/p&gt;

The Chilean political transition has experienced strong questioning in recent years, especially at the level of the younger generations. These aspects have been made visible in the social mobilizations that took place in Chile in 2019 and in a growing context of political polarization, perception of corruption towards institutions and criticism of the media, spaces conceived from an agreed or semi-sovereign democracy. As a way of analyzing the political communication experienced in these original contexts of the return of Chilean democracy, the research will take a series of programs of political debates, broadcast on television between 1989 and 1991, that is, at the very beginning of the transition as historical process. The objective is through the use of probabilistic econometric models to measure the characteristics of the political debate, through the political identification of the panelists, types of participation of the participants in these programs and the dominant topics between the interactions, as a way of putting in perspective the critics towards that moment.

In this study, we utilize US Geological Survey citizen science earthquake felt intensity data to investigate whether , crustal earthquakes in the Chilean Subduction Zone show similar, "felt intensity" distributions to events of the same magnitude and depths within the Cascadia Subduction Zone (Quitoriano &amp;amp; Wald, 2020; USGS Earthquake Hazards Program, 2020). In a companion article (Rutherford &amp;amp; Cassidy, 2022) we examine intraslab deep earthquake intensity patterns for the Chile and Cascadia subduction zones. Building on from the intraslab companion article, the goal of this comparison is to determine whether felt intensity information from several recent large (M8-8.8) subduction earthquakes in Chile can be applied to Cascadia (where no subduction earthquakes have been felt since 1700). This would provide a better understanding of shaking intensity patterns for future subduction earthquakes in Cascadia - critical information for scientists, engineers, and emergency management organizations. For this research, we utilized 20 years of cataloged Did-You-Feel-It (DYFI) citizen science data from the US Geological Survey's (USGS) earthquake online catalog, the ANSS Comprehensive Earthquake Catalog (ComCat) Documentation (USGS Earthquake Hazards Program, 2021). In total, we considered and compared intensity patterns for fourteen magnitudes from 30 earthquakes in Cascadia (ranging from magnitudes 4.5 to 7.2, the highest magnitude event in Cascadia zone) to the intensity patterns from 114 earthquakes in Chile, with the same magnitudes as the Cascadia events (M4.5-M7.2). Our analysis involved plotting and fitting the Chile and Cascadia earthquake DYFI responses to compare the intensity patterns for the two subduction zones. Overall, we find good agreement between felt patterns in Chile and Cascadia. For example, all plots show the expected downward trend for intensity with distance. Even distribution with limited clustering is seen in all fourteen magnitudes, with slight intensity clustering of responses around the 30 to 600 km. This is slightly different from the intraslab pattern which demonstrated a distinct cluster at further distance from the hypocenter, e.g., cluster at 50 to 300 km. These results provide confidence that we can use Chilean intensity data for megathrust earthquakes in Cascadia.
