The core purpose of this research is to understand the life-style and adjustment of the retired teachers from Malaysian Chinese School upon retirement. Upon completion of this research, it can be a reference to the retired and to-be retire teacher as how to plan their future retirement life-style and to understand the mentally challenge upon retirement. It also can be a reference for the schools and society regarding the needs for retired teachers. This research is by the method of ‘case study procedures’ through interviewing (open-ended question) five retired teachers from Kota Kinabalu and Labuan Chinese School in the State of Sabah (Government Chinese Primary School and Independence Chinese Secondary School). They are voluntarily to participate in this research to provide their current retirement life-style experience and the method to adjustment. The information gather will be analyse and summarized to this research conclusion. Research showed that there are five types of retirement life-style connotation, which include Housework, Services, Learning, Community &; Economic activities. In the nutshell, retired teachers’ priorities in Housework, services and community, while lack of learning and economics activities. They are less pay attention for their learning and early financial planning. From the interview, there will be 3 stages of adjustment that retired teachers will be facing upon retirement. The three stages are derived to early stage of adjustment period, second stage of restructuring period and final stage of stationary phase. The early stage will be the feeling of sudden stop in job which cause uneasiness (not willing to leave the school) to the mentally. The second stage is to divert the concentration from the school to their family . The final stage is to enjoy the new lifestyle that created from the second stage by getting know the family members and social network. From the 3 stages, it can be say that the process of mentally change and adjustment of surrounding create a new life-style of personally enjoyed. It is understandable the interviewee currently happy with their retirement life-style by enjoying activities that their physically capable of, achievement and their dream. Recommendation from the research, retired teachers should have early planning of their retirement lifestyles and should priority their family member in their planning. It is found out that Malaysian Chinese Schools’ retired teachers especially those who long service in education sector are always having a strong bond with Malaysia Chinese Education System. The education organization has to highly appreciate and support the retired teachers going through their retirement stages. Family member, social network and support will be the greatest sources for retirement teacher to going through their preparation upon retirement.The formation of retired teacher's association could help to guide and support the retired teachers during their adjustment. Prior of retirement, the teachers should plan their future financial standing and build up good relationship with their family members as this could help in the adjustment upon retirement.

The main purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between teachers’ work values and school effectiveness of independent chinese secondary schools in Sabah, East Malaysia. Firstly, found out the current situation of Teachers’ work values and school effectiveness separately. Secondly, to observe the discrepancy caused by different background variables. Next, to analyze the relationship between teachers’ work values and school effectiveness in independent Chinese secondary schools. According to the research findings, substantial suggestions were offered to the principal of independent Chinese secondary school and future studies. Questionaire surveying was applied and the teachers of Independent Chinese Secondary School in Sabah were used as research population. 214 questionaires were collected, statistic methods, such as descriptive statistics and Pearson’s product-moment correlation were used to analyze the research data. The conclusions were as follows: 1. Teachers’ work values of Independent Chinese Secondary School were higher than average level. 2. There are differences due to the different background variables on teachers’ work values. 3. Teachers perceived on school effectiveness were higher than average level. 4. There are differences due to the different background variables on school effectiveness. 5. There are apparent and positive relationships between teachers’ work values and school effectiveness.
