The purpose of this study is to understand the behavior of chlorine and the emission of organic compounds during combustion in an atmospheric fluidized bed combustion (AFBC) system. Inefficient, uncontrolled use of coal gives rise to organic emissions which can be detrimental to health. The chlorine in coal may cause corrosion problems during utilization, if its concentration is high enough. The method for collection of the emissions of organic compounds involved the use of a Tenax resin as an absorbent for the organic compounds as they were emitted from the combustor. L'allylation et la propargylation de dérivés carbonylés par l'étain dans l'eau sont étudiées. L'ajout d'iodure de potassium autorise l'utilisation de dérivés chlorés allyliques de structures variées, connus pour leur très faible réactivité. Nous montrons que la substitution halogénure-iodure s'effectue dans l'eau avant réaction. L'étude de l'allylation par le système chlorure stanneux/iodure de potassium, dans le même solvant, nous a permis de déterminer les meilleures conditions expérimentales. Seuls les aldéhydes sont réactifs. Les dérivés chlorés dans ces conditions sont aussi utilisables.

No<br>Crystal structure prediction simulations were carried out to explore the solid state packing alternatives of two diastereomeric salts consisting of a chlorine-substituted cyclic phosphoric acid and the two enantiomers of ephedrine. Selected chloroethylaminoanthraquinones were shown to cross-link DNA and alkylate guanines (at low nM concentration) with a preference for reaction sites containing 5'-PyG. Morse potentials are used to represent bond stretching coordinates, and the positions and magnitudes of nonadiabatic coupling between excited state potentials are modeled using ab initio data. No<br>A novel series of 1,4-disubstituted aminoanthraquinones were prepared by ipso-displacement of 1,4-difluoro-5,8-dihydroxyanthraquinones by hydroxylated piperidinyl- or pyrrolidinylalkyl-amino side chains. One aminoanthraquinone (13) was further derivatized to a chloropropyl-amino analogue by treatment with triphenylphosphine-carbon tetrachloride.
