Abstract:
This article demonstrates that many of the same concepts and tools developed for the sociolinguistic study of how language communities choose spoken languages can also be profitably applied to the study of how they choose scripts. These similarities include the choice of a language or script to either identify with or create distance from another group, borrowing elements from other languages and scripts, the death of languages and scripts, contact induced change in languages and scripts, and the identification of languages and scripts with gender.

Real-Time Strategy (RTS) games have shown to be very resilient to standard adversarial tree search techniques. Recently, a few approaches to tackle their complexity have emerged that use game state or move abstractions, or both. Unfortunately, the supporting experiments were either limited to simpler RTS environments (uRTS, SparCraft) or lack testing against state-of-the-art game playing agents. Here, we propose Puppet Search, a new adversarial search framework based on scripts that can expose choice points to a look-ahead search procedure. Script languages are designed to be easy-to-use and require low learning costs. These features provide attackers options to choose a script language for developing their malicious scripts. This diversity of choice in the attacker side unexpectedly imposes a significant cost on the preparation for analysis tools in the defense side. That is, we have to prepare for multiple script languages to analyze malicious scripts written in them. We call this unbalanced cost for script languages asymmetry problem . Abstract:
Abstract A strut injector for burning hydrogen has been optimised using an automated workflow system. The design process began with a parametric CAD model that allowed for various design features to be altered and various different designs to be generated from a given list of parameters. In order to choose the optimal set of injectors to cover the design space, an optimised design of experiments (DOE) method was used to automatically choose the parameters that best spanned the design space. One hundred candidate designs were chosen and a script used to generate a series of stereolithography (S

In the 1970s and 1980s, interactive fiction games emerged and changed the gaming world by enabling players to talk to the machine, make their own decisions, choose their paths, and decide what to collect and do. This freedom captivated players, but at the time, games were limited by programmed scripts that only accepted words present in the game’s code dictionary in a limited format, usually two or three keywords by phrase. However, technological advances have paved the way for improvements in this regard, replacing scripts with artificial intelligence using APIs, such as ChatGPT, for example.

Abstract:
Heat pumps are an attractive heating system in residential buildings. They operate based on the vapor compression cycle used in refrigeration systems. Design questions surrounding heat pumps can be investigated and answered using modelling tools that incorporate the necessary thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and machinery component efficiency. Several modelling tools are available, however there is a need for more open-source, script-based programs that are competitive to those already available. This work presents a Python-based code for modeling the thermodynamics of the vapor compression cy

In this paper we aim to present a conceptual framework for virtual creation, exploration, and representation of architectural space. This framework will allow us to establish a method that will drive the viewer along a path, intended by the researcher, to experience, interact and get feedback of spaces in study, through linear or interactive narratives.Space virtual computational representation tools have evolved over the last decades and are now providing advanced new tools from gaming, AI and VR real-time complex fictional environments creation, depiction and interaction. Abstract:
Evapotranspiration is one of the major components of Earth’s Water Balance, being the sum of evaporation and plant transpiration from the land and ocean surface. This report documents edcrop, a Python package that use climate input to simulate field-scale evapotranspiration and drainage from the root zone of an area covered with a crop, a wetland, or a forest. The conceptual model implemented in edcrop is a modification of the Evacrop model by Olesen and Heidmann (2002), which itself builds on the Watcros model by Aslyng and Hansen (1982). The edcrop conceptualization is based on consideration
