Abstract:

This paper describes research into species of beetles (Coleoptera), which was carried out in one of the largest systems of old mine workings in Europe (Podziemia Tarnogórsko-Bytomskie) near Tarnowskie Góry and Bytom. A one-year survey yielded three species of beetles: <em>Choleva glauca</em>, <em>Pterostichus niger</em> and <em>Quedius mesomelinus</em>. Each species occurred only at particular times of the year, possibly signifying the beginning of the troglobiont way of life.

The first catalogue of the Romanian Cholevinae (excluding Leptodirini) is presented, based on revised and new records. The overall distribution and distribution in Romania are documented for every species, with particular reference to subterranean environment (caves and subterranean superficial environment). The present study aimed to evaluate the antibacterial potency of grinded crude material (root of Glycyrrhiza glabra) against some gram-positive and gram-negative bacterial strains.
