Abstract:
The article discovers the issues which are a part of a complex set of training future music teachers to manage artistic and creative ensembles, in particular, vocal and choral ones. It is emphasized that the dominant place in the process of training future music teachers to guidance these groups is occupied by aspects of conducting and choral training, the study of which is impossible without understanding the unique phenomena of native choral performance and features of working with vocal and choral collectives. To solve these problems there are the disciplines of conducting and choral cycle,

The write incentive for this article was the desire to characterize the pedagogical potential of the method “One-Voice Collective-Distributed Singing” at the initial stages of training children of primary school age choral performance. Its essence is connected with a specific approach to learning and playing melodies of songs or vocal choral exercises. In the exercises, a sequential transmission / reception of the melodic line from one singer to another / another or from one group of singers to another is provided. The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of individual testing, in conjunction with group instruction, on students' sight-singing skills. A quasi-experimental study was designed to test the following prediction: Choir students given a regular program of individual testing will show a significantly greater improvement in individual sight-singing over students given group sight-singing instruction alone. A sample of 306 subjects was drawn from the beginning and advanced choirs of six high schools in the State of Washington where sight-singing was taught. Intact choirs were randomly as

Multicultural choral music has distinct characteristics in that indigenous folk elements are frequently incorporated into a Western European tonal system. Because of this, multicultural choral music is often taught using Western styles (e.g., bel canto) rather than through traditional singing techniques from their cultures of origin. One of the most important purposes of teaching multicultural music is to increase understanding of and acceptance toward different cultures and enrich musical experiences. Abstract:
In various ways, the wide range of schools in Hong Kong – some secular, others run by a variety of religious organizations - represented a new frontier to girl students, and the cultural exchanges that took place there were multidimensional. Apart from contact with new knowledge through book learning, Chinese girls gained access to other unfamiliar activities such as choral singing, playing musical instruments, sports, and girl guiding. Equally importantly, in some schools girls encountered and mingled with others from very different ethnic, social and economic backgrounds, forming an important socializing experience. The first generation of ‘accomplished women’ from such schools contributed to the redefining of women’s space in prewar Hong Kong. The turbulent years of the 1920s and 1930s also provided unprecedented opportunities for them to exercise their language skills in networking and organization of charity and relief work. This chapter argues that for those women who excelled in public service it was not only the academic training but the all-round education in a multicultural setting that equipped them with discipline and determination, and a vision to build international connections in their service for the common good.
