Abstract:
This material is an extract from a larger research of Lutheran chorals, focusing on the first collection of Protestant hymns, published after the Reformation, Etlich Cristlich lider (Achtliederbuch - The Book of Eight Songs), signed by Martin Luther, Paul Speratus and Justus Jonas. Beyond the general considerations related to the place and year of publication, but also to the inner construction of the collection, the analysis focuses on the first hymn composed by Luther, original both as text and as music. The rhetorical perspective I approached in the study of chorals is not arbitrary, given the impact of Luther's vision of music for that period and the attention he himself paid to classical rhetoric in his sermons, or in the courses he taught at the University of Wittenberg. His chorals are impregnated with explicit messages, both in terms of his Christian creed, but also in terms of elementary principles of Christian living.

Abstract:
Abstract The five hundreth anniversary that we commemorated in 2017 is a good opportunity to remind the significance of vocal works by Martin Luther. Creative musical activity of Dr. Martin Luther is somehow in the shadow of his other historically significant activities. It is a well-known fact that he was an outstanding musician who could play lute and could sing. In his household, he constantly played music and sang, while he actively engaged his family in performing music. In performing the reformatory ideas, he was aware of the extremely important role of religious singing, which he started composing since 1523. He is the author of 38 songs – chorales, while at the same time, he is the author of 20 melodies. In most cases, he used the texts of the Psalms. From his chorals the best known is entitled Ein feste Burg is unser Gott – The Fortified Castle is the Lord our God, that became worldwide the anthem of the Protestants. Luther have become an important inspirational source for the next generation of composers, and they culminated in the work of Johann Sebastian Bach, including the works of contemporary Slovak composers – Roman Berger, Víťazoslav Kubička. The prevailing majority of Lutheran chorales is also the part of the Protestant Songbook in Slovakia.

Abstract:
The study of the natural laws of semantic organization of the musical text is a topical issue of contemporary musicology. In this connection a unique opportunity to immerse into the processes of text-generation is presented by research of instrumental compositions which have appeared on the basis of borrowing and modification of an “alien” musical text. By means of a comparative analysis of Cesar Franck’s Choral No. 3 in A minor from the series “Three chorals for a large organ” with its transcription for bayan carried out by Friedrich Lips, the general and specific principles of semantic organization of the notated, musical and performance texts are disclosed. From such an angle the issue of intertextual interactions is being raised for the first time. Its complex character has become the foundation for turning to the methodology of the theory of the musical text (Mark Aranovsky, Liudmila Shaymukhametova) and the theory of musical content (Liudmila Kazantseva, Valentina Kholopova). In this article the attitude is developed towards the musical text of the organ compositions as an open polysystem endowed with a special mechanism of preservation and transformation of the invariant in the conditions of a new instrumental context. Study of the intonational lexis and etymology of its meanings has made it possible to disclose the unique artistic specificity of the Choral, while examination of the bayan version in the author’s performance has allowed us to comprehend the techniques of adaptation of “someone else’s” thematicism to a new timbral-instrumental performance scenario.

Abstract:
Chorale No 9 (Ermuntre dich mein schwacher Geist), Chorale No 14 (O Herre Gott, dein gottlich Wort), Chorale No 73 (Herr Jesu Christ, du höchstes Gut) and Chorale No 81 (Christus, der uns selig macht), are selected Lutheran chorales harmonized by Johann Sabastian Bach, an iconic composer of the Baroque era. In his harmonic processes, Bach explored various altered chords, harmonic devices, and non-harmonic tones. Focusing on a case study design, purposive sampling technique, and document analysis, the authors attempt to provide a formal analysis of the four selected harmonized chorales, employing parameters such as scale, vocal rages, melodic organization, harmony and tonality, non-chord tones, texture, and form. The analysis unravels his harmonic vocabulary to determine his compositional style. The harmonized chorales of Johann Sabastian Bach are therefore good educational materials of harmony and counterpoint andragogy for music students.

Abstract:
This study explores the Harmonious Chorale's innovative fusion of choreography with choral singing in Ghana, examining its impact on performance techniques, audience engagement, and the choral music landscape at large. Through qualitative research, including interviews with choir members, audience feedback, and firsthand performance observations, it reveals that integrating dance enhances the emotional depth and appeal of choral music. Choreographed performances create a deeper connection between singers and their songs, elevate audience involvement and emotional responses, and herald a shift towards more dynamic, visually captivating choral shows in Ghana. The Harmonious Chorale's pioneering efforts not only enhance the appeal of choral compositions but also elevate their cultural significance, marking a critical shift in Ghana's choral music tradition. The study suggests that incorporating movement into choral training and performance can meet modern audience expectations and enrich the listening experience, highlighting the crucial role of innovation in maintaining the relevance and vibrancy of choral music in contemporary culture.

Abstract:
Johann Sebastian Bach's chorale preludes are varied and artistic not only in the treatment of chorale melodies, but also in the accompaniments of those chorale melodies. This study examines the accompaniments of Bach's long chorale preludes, focusing on identifying the various types and the characteristics that make them unique. This study investigates the two broad categories of accompaniments depending on whether the motives are chorale-derived or independent of the chorale. While the chorale prelude accompaniments in the first large group are closely related, the accompaniments of the chorale preludes in the second group stand independently and illustrate the vast range of Bach's compositional skill. Both groups demonstrate Bach's interest in expanding his predecessors' models, a trait that can be traced throughout all of Bach's compositional history.

This article explores the King’s Church of Studenica, and its connections to the Byzantine Chora Church in Constantinople. By examining the architectural and artistic elements of the King’s Church, the article argues that King Stefan Uroš II Milutin sought to create a choral experience for the viewer, immersing them in a world of divine beauty and tran- scendence. Through the use of art and architecture, King Milutin sought to establish his strong cultural and political identity and assure the viewer of his divinity, elevating the prestige of the Serbian Land and its monarch in the eyes of both local and foreign visitors.

Abstract:
The article outlines the problem of combining professional and personal qualities in the choir conductor. Research gaps in the profession of choir conductor are outlined. We established that the art of conducting, and choral performance as its component, currently requires professionally trained personnel, who have an active life position and are able to provide a creative approach to choral singing. It was found that conducting should be interpreted as a creative process characterized by a step-by-step structure and a combination of analysis and comprehension of the choral score, its artistic interpretation, which allows embodying the formed musical image in the real choral sound. It was found that the conductor’s professional qualities are based on the conductor’s individual style or his “creative method”. It is established that the emotional sphere of the conductor is the result of a combination of qualities that will allow the conductor and the choir to demonstrate a bright and convincing revelation of the originality of texture, expressive timbre colors of numerous choral scores, and a rich palette of nuances.

Abstract:
Extreme rainfall induces rural households to choose immediate benefits over long-run investments in education by increasing the incidence of child labor and household chores at the expense of school attendance. Over-indebtedness through pre-existing formal loans reinforces the likelihood that a child works due to rainfall shocks. Asset insurance, foreign remittances, and natural disaster aid reduce or eliminate the shock-induced shift toward domestic activities and away from schooling.
