Abstract:
The need for administration in efficient church stewardship is discussed, as is a good model of church administration. To improve church stewardship, the journal uses the literature study method to discuss effective church administration models that can adapt to the changing needs and goals of the church, consider the internal and external environment of the church, and provide clear direction to all members. The journal also explains why administration is essential to effective church stewardship. Stewardship in the church includes the maintenance of a wide variety of ministries, including services devoted to worship, spiritual formation, and social action. Church stewardship benefits from a well-organized administration in terms of managing resources, planning events, and minimizing waste. Communication, leadership, and member participation are just a few examples of what can have a positive or negative impact on the efficiency of church administration and stewardship. The authors also offer a number of suggestions for improving the efficiency of church administration and stewardship, including developing better administrative and leadership capabilities, improving communication channels, and encouraging greater participation from members. In short, the journals in this publication explain why efficient church management is so important. Good stewardship in religious institutions.

Abstract:
Abstract The paper addresses issues regarding the current balance between spirituality and administration in different church denominations using an interdisciplinary approach which combines management science and theology. It presents a comparative study of organizational culture of the Roman Catholic Church, a Lutheran church, and a Reformed church with the use of the questionnaire based on the Competing Values Framework (Cameron/Quinn) and qualitative interviews with leading persons in church. The authors discuss the findings from two different but complementary perspectives: in relation to the four types of organizational cultures in the Cameron/Quinn framework, and as a result of the specific denominational semantics represented in the questionnaire used for the study. The results show how the question of modernity is reflected in organizational culture of churches, and how deeply the respondents’ perception of church is influenced by inherent normativity. One of the central conclusions is that religiously rooted normativity serves as an instrument of balancing the administrative and the spiritual in church.

Abstract:
The article analyzes the emergence of the Tomsk church administration, its transformation into the Siberian church administration and the further spread of renovationism in Western Siberia during the summer of 1922. The author examines in detail the conditions for the creation of the Tomsk church administration, its composition and the role of soviet authorities in the formation of renovationist structures in Western Siberia. The article examines the activities of the Siberian church administration during the summer of 1922: relations with clerics and structures of the soviet government, participation in the campaign for the seizure of church values, the introduction of renovationist transformations and the fight against opposition to renovationism. Attention is paid to the spread of renovationism on the ground and the real support of the Siberian church administration by the West Siberian clergy. The author also analyzes the positions of the episcopate in relation to the Siberian church and the involvement of bishops in the activities of the Siberian church administration. It is concluded that by the end of the summer of 1922, the Siberian church had an episcopate in its composition and enjoyed support in a number of regions, while opposition to Siberian renovationism remained, and mediation between church structures and state bodies in the campaign to seize church values continued to be a significant aspect of activity.

Abstract:
Church administration remains an important component in the canonical organization of the Romanian Orthodox Church. The administrative, political, and social transformations of the last decade confirm that the efficient administration of the priest’s pastoral activity for his community remains a consistent factor in the evaluation of a parish’s activity by Church authorities. The priest is forced to allocate a significant amount of time and energy to setting up and maintaining an efficient administration. This responsibility places the priest in administrative relations with several players: with believers (Christians), as members of the community involved in the administrative decision-making process; with public institutions as social partners, and finally with the Church hierarchy as a decision-maker organism in the administration of the parish assets. In this situation, in which the parish priest’s work revolves around these players, indispensable for the provision of resources with which to undertake his pastoral care, church administration can become a blocking point in the pastoral care of rural communities. For this reason, an analysis of the convergence and divergence between church administration and pastoral care of rural communities can be a starting point for identifying appropriate canonical solutions for the pastoral care of rural communities.

Abstract:
Purpose – The purpose of this study is to examine records management practices as factors influencing the administration of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion). Design/methodology/approach – The study adopted the causal-comparative research design of the ex post facto type. The multi-stage sampling technique was used to select the sample for the study. A four-point Likert scale questionnaire that ranged from strongly disagree, disagree, agree and strongly agree was used to collect data. Three research questions were raised and answered. Data collected were analyzed using descriptive statistics. Findings – The outcome shows the various records management practices that the Church engaged in which include the creation, maintenance, ease of access to, use, preservation and final disposal of the records. Other findings of the study also revealed the joint influence (positive relationship) of records management practices (records creation, use, maintenance and retention or disposal) on the administration of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) to be significant which follows that there is a significant positive relationship between records management practices and administration of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion). Also, it is only record use (β = 0.27; t = 5.53; p < 0.05) that has a significant relative influence on the Church of Nigeria’s (Anglican Communion) administration. Others like record creation or received (β = 0.02; t = 0.28; p > 0.05), records maintenance (β = −0.06; t = −0.93; p > 0.05) and records retention or disposal (β = 0.11; t = 1.76; p > 0.05) have no significant influence on the church administration. Therefore, it is only records use that can predict or influence the administration of Anglican Church positively. Originality/value – The study is the original findings of the authors.

Abstract:
The church is a community of believers in Jesus Christ who engage in various religious activities. In managing these busy activities, the church administration often faces the risk of human error. In response to digitalization challenges, the idea of creating a church information system application emerged to address these issues, known as the church information center application. The purpose of this application is to assist in the smooth operation of church activities and simplify the administrative processes involved in each activity. The results show that the developed church information center application can be accessed by all church members through the Android platform. The features within the application help facilitate the reception of church information and administration processes. The application's interface was also well-received by the congregation. The average score for measuring the system's usability using the SUS method is 72, which can be categorized as a grade scale C with the adjective rating "good"

The article is devoted to the problem of changing the view of the historian of the Russian Orthodox Church Anton V. Kartashev on the peculiarities of the existence of Orthodoxy in the historical period of the Russian Empire. By comparing pre-revolutionary articles and publications of the 1930s and 1950s, the key positions of these changes are determined, and the factors that contributed to the evolution of the historian's scientific views are identified. The author concludes that Kartashev turns from an active critic of church shortcomings into an apologist of the Russian Church of the imperial period, and reveals many positive features of the existence of Orthodoxy during the period of Synodal administration. Abstract:
AbstractA theological inquiry into civilian empowerment approaches “god” or “gods” as sources of power. Since our conception of god depends on what we can say—our language—the gods of empowerment belong to our various social worlds. We could understand the flow of power here as one where God empowers the church and then shares it with society, or where God empowers people in society and the church gives witness to it. The protestant theologians Paul Lehmann and Edward Hobbs take the second view. Lehmann’s approach opens us to a community-creating power that other language communities besides the Christian church could articulate and celebrate. Hobbs explains how the Christian trinity exposes our limitations, hubris, and the call to care for others. These theologies reveal our human capacity to create caring communities with the power to call for change.

Abstract:
AbstractThis chapter explores the history of the Greek diasporic community of Jerusalem in late Ottoman times and the formative years of the British Mandate. It focuses on the creation of the Greek Colony and its central community institution, the so-called Greek Club, as well as the role of Greek cultural diplomacy both with the Greek community and with Arabs of the Greek Orthodox denomination, in its development. It addresses the establishment and development of the Jerusalem Greek diaspora; its relation to the Greek state; and its links to the Orthodox Patriarchate. Overall, the chapter suggests that Greece could influence, but not control, the decision-making process within the community. The Greek diaspora was excluded from systematic influence in Church administration, lacking power over communal education, and hence politically dependent on the Church.

Abstract:
The present paper provides an overview of the situation of church bodies when dealing with subsidies. The starting position and topicality of this topic has been the subject of intense debate in the media and in the political sphere, also for church sector for some time. A look at the figures shows that numerous funding programmes from EU, federal and/or state programmes could well be eligible for church bodies, but that the funds provided are rarely or never called up. The problems lie in the complexity of the funding programmes and the respective guidelines and extend right into the organisational structures of the spartan church administration. A glance at the federal government’s funding database shows the importance of the topic. Tight budgets due to declining church tax revenues, lack of personnel capacities, demographic conditions are inhibiting factors in funding management on the part of church administrations.

Abstract:
The sources for studying the demographic situation in the Romanian area, especially those from Moldova Principality and neighboring territories, increase quantitatively with the expansion of Russia towards South-Eastern Europe. During the Russo-Turkish War of 1806-1812, as well as during the conflagrations of the late XVIIIth century, the Russian Empire preferred to establish its own administration of occupation, which for the most efficient record of resources was used not only by its own apparatus, but also by the local administrative and ecclesiastical institutions of the Romanian Principalities, introducing several statistical tools for population records. Among the statistical instruments introduced during this period (e.g. forms, registers, etc.) that followed the record of the population at all stages of life, through civil status registers, in which births, marriages and deaths were recorded; confession registers of Orthodox believers; the forms of the churches and the service records of the clergy, where, in addition to the information about the status of the churches and the situation of the parish clergy, there was also information about the number of the population according to ethnic and gender composition, the latter are the object of our intervention. In the framework of this study, a series of information was exposed about the process of introducing Church Forms and clergy service statuses, a process initiated in December 1809, as a result of insufficient data presented by diocesan bishops and other church structures during the same year. Taking into account the value of the information contained in these sources, here we focused on the selection and accounting of the data regarding the numerical situation of the Christian-Orthodox population in the Pruto-Nistrian area in 1812. As a result of comparing the fiscal data contained in the Evideces of the Moldovan Treasury from 1808 and other statistical data known from the era with those contained in the Forms,we find that the data from the sources we considered, although they were used to clarify some information regarding the history of the Orthodox Church in Bessarabia. However, they were not used at their fair value to clarify those contradictions that continue to hover over the issue of the numerical composition of the population in the region newly annexed to Russia in 1812. Thus, following the analysis of the statistical data provided by several registers with the Forms that have reached us, it can be concluded that the population of the region not only approached the number of 300,000 people, but even exceeded it. Therefore, it would be recommended that researchers concerned with the study of demographic issues in the region not only refer to the records of a fiscal nature, which, although they are recognized to be of particular value. Nevertheless the information provided by the Forms allows verification of the veracity/correctness of the premiums, detailing some aspects, such as the ratio between churched and non-churched localities, the ratio between the male and female population, as well as other indicators that tax statistics from the early XIXth century do not record.

Abstract:
Right from the moment of the annexation of Bessarabia by the Russian Empire, the institution of the Orthodox Church, in addition to its moral-spiritual activity, is also transformed by the autocratic administration into a propaganda tool. In addition to the propagation of the Russian tradition and elements of Russification, one of the directorial lines in which this institution was involved was also related to the maintenance of the propagation of the Russian imperial cult, started since the period of the Russo-Turkish war of 1806-1812 by the exarch Gavriil Bănulescu-Bodoni. From the middle of the 19th century, in addition to other instruments, the method by which the Orthodox Church, in order to amplify the popularity of the imperial family from the liturgical chair, also recorded important events in the life of the autocrat, came into use. It is precisely this tool that we will try to describe through the proposed communication.

Abstract:
The paper is an initial form of dissemination of the research activities carried out by the IUAV University of Venice working group which, on behalf of the Municipal administration of Brendola, seeks to delineate the application of a methodology for the study and analysis of the architectural and landscape heritage of significant cultural interest that is in a state of abandonment. The case study application is the church of San Michele Arcangelo in Brendola (Vicenza), known as the “Incompiuta” (“Unfinished”). The case study proposed is an interesting exemplar of ecclesiastical architecture, designed by engineer-architect Fausto Franco, in which its characteristics of being unfinished and in a state of ruin contribute to redefining the image of a work that fits in a historical context of architectural and technical experimentation, where the reference to historical architecture is mediated by contemporary forms and by the use of modern building materials, among which, the use of reinforced bricks is noteworthy. The research activity, which is taking place in the context of the COVID-19 health emergency, aims at putting a series of strategies and operational practices based on the digitisation of data to the test, so as to allow increased interoperability and sharing through the building of an online open data repository addressed to the actors involved in the conservation process and to the community. In the processes of conservation and valorisation, in-depth knowledge and documentation of the materials and construction techniques involves multidisciplinary areas; effectively organising them in a system that regulates their collection, cataloguing, processing and archiving according to shared procedures, therefore becomes a fundamental prerequisite for the development of operational planning of the valorisation strategies. All the instruments that make it possible to collect data and reach a true knowledge of the object therefore become indispensable. From this point of view, the push towards the digitisation of the data that emerged during the pandemic phase plays a fundamental role in the range of application possibilities, from the survey to the mechanisms for the conservation and management of the cultural heritage.

Abstract:
The Church is increasingly facing the problem of a shortage of priests, and there is the expectation that this problem will grow in the future. In some countries many parishes are already without a priest and this situation needs to be addressed. The current Code of Canon Law offers the possibility of parish administration in a so-called solidarity way. In this paper we would like to analyse the institute of parish administration in solidum, which is found only in the current Code of Canon Law, whereas the previous legislation did not recognise this institute. At the same time, we want to gain insight from the experience of some countries that use this model of parish pastoral care, in contrast to the Slovak dioceses, which only take an exceptional approach to it. It is anticipated that in a couple of decades, due to the need for a shortage of priests, there will be a growing need to address the staffing of parishes in this way as well.

Abstract:
Education on heritage environments based on user experience is committed to understanding and enhancing the heritage landscape. The proposal prioritizes "experimenting" over "explaining" to reduce the digital divide and to guarantee equal access to information and knowledge. The urban environment of the church of the Santos Juanes is one of the most characteristic places in the history of the city of Valencia. In the same environment there are emblematic monuments such as the Lonja de la Seda and the Mercat Central of Valencia. Despite all of the above, the landscape has suffered considerable deterioration in recent decades. The lack of a safe urban space, the weak treatment of urban connections to monuments and the physical deterioration of the building have been the factors that have caused the creation of an environment conducive to alienating behaviors with the place. The high degree of alienation has led to the production of campaigns to prevent and prosecute these behaviors by the municipal administration, however there are no proposals to help understand and know these places. Currently, the redevelopment works of this environment are being undertaken, so it is of interest to propose an educational proposal about the heritage area to stimulate interest, learning, experience and exploration. Visits and workshops on the interpretation and sensitive experience of the cultural landscape bring citizens closer to experiencing the church of the Santos Juanes in a way not based on a data compilation discourse. In conclusion, experiencing, knowing and sharing these environments strengthens the relationship between citizens and their cultural heritage. At the same time, these exercises help to collect information on how citizens perceive and value their heritage environments.

Abstract:
The sources examined attest that we must have no illusions about the purpose pursued by the imperial authorities, namely the total Russification of the inhabitants of the annexed territories. Discordant voices of specialists from both the Russian Empire and contemporary Russia clearly indicate that the annexed territories were colonies of the empire, and the inhabitants were condemned to cultural stagnation. During the examined period, in the region of Bessarabia, the area of use of the Romanian language was totally restricted in school, church, administration, court. Access even to primary education was allowed children aged 8-10 only if they were able to read and write in the language Russian. But, despite the efforts made by the authorities, in the chronological segment investigated here, the years 1834-1871 – the Russification of the inhabitants was not successful – the Russian language was known at a fairly high level modest or even by the population. The timid attempts of some representatives of dvorenimi to improve and intensify the process of studying the Romanian language by bringing books necessary from Moldova across the Prut and from Wallachia, collided with the categorical refusal of imperial authorities, as well as the attempts to edit a newspaper in Romanian. Despite efforts made by the imperial authorities, the school did not prove to be an effective instrument of russification, but to make a better system of education, tsarism neither wanted nor was in condition. In general, the Russian Empire was a backward empire, slavery hindered the processes of modernization and, although it was liquidated in 1861, it does not mean that the situation changed immediately and we should have expected big changes. To these was added the inefficiency of the Russian bureaucratic-administrative system, but also the traditional conservatism of the local society in Bessarabia, which tacitly, but quite effectively, opposed the process of Russification.

Abstract:
The article is devoted to the study of the methods that were used by representatives of the Soviet government for the closure of Orthodox churches and the liquidation of religious communities in the Ob-Irtysh North in the late 1920s – early 1930s. It was noted that, although the termination of the work of religious associations was formalized as the “will of the workers” or as a result of the believers' failure to comply with the requirements of the law, often these formulations hid open financial or political pressure.

Abstract:
The COVID-19 pandemic has led to an explosion of research using private-sector datasets to measure business dynamics and employment in real-time. Yet questions remain about the representativeness of these datasets and how to distinguish business openings and closings from sample churn – i.e., sample entry of already operating businesses and sample exits of businesses that continue operating. This paper proposes new methods to address these issues and applies them to the case of Homebase, a real-time dataset of mostly small service-sector sector businesses that has been used extensively in the literature to study the effects of the pandemic. We match the Homebase establishment records with information on business activity from Safegraph, Google, and Facebook to assess the representativeness of the data and to estimate the probability of business closings and openings among sample exits and entries. We then exploit the high frequency / geographic detail of the data to study whether small service-sector businesses have been hit harder by the pandemic than larger firms, and the extent to which the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) helped small businesses keep their workforce employed. We find that our real-time estimates of small business dynamics and employment during the pandemic are remarkably representative and closely fit population counterparts from administrative data that have recently become available. Distinguishing business closings and openings from sample churn is critical for these results. We also find that while employment by small businesses contracted more severely in the beginning of the pandemic than employment of larger businesses, it also recovered more strongly thereafter. In turn, our estimates suggests that the rapid rollout of PPP loans significantly mitigated the negative employment effects of the pandemic. Business closings and openings are a key driver for both results, thus underlining the importance of properly correcting for sample churn.
