Abstract:
John Cassian is an Eastern-educated monk writing in the early fifth century for the monks of Gaul and is crucial to the development of Western monasticism through the transmission of Greek ascetic ideas to the Latin West. He is heavily influenced by the teachings of Evagrius Ponticus, a prolific late fourth-century Egyptian monk crucial to the development of Christian mysticism; however, there has been no clear line drawn between the influence of Evagrius and Cassian's own originality. While Cassian uses Evagrian asceticism to the fullest, he nevertheless places it onto a divergent theological

This thesis seeks to understand and analyse the foundations of section 116 of the Australian Constitution by situating the provision in its proper historical and conceptual context. The thesis argues that section 116 can be conceptualised as a safeguard against religious intolerance on the part of the Commonwealth. The thesis begins by demonstrating that section 116 cannot be understood as a simply analogue of the religion clauses of the United States Constitution due to the very different constitutional cultures existing at the times the Australian and United States Constitutions were drafte

In this thesis we consider restrictions on this model that restore the decidability of the language emptiness problem. We consider the restricted class

The reason for the restoration of the church are cracks in the external masonry and arch due to small space stiffness. The building will be reinforced by horizontal and transverse prestressing.
