Abstract:
Conceding that the “church growth” concept and methodology have come under fire, the author shares an insider's reflections on how the movement has fared since Donald McGavran originated it three decades ago. The history of the movement and the relation between the Institute for Church Growth and the School of World Missions at Fuller Theological Seminary are traced. Dialogue and controversy with the WCC in the sixties, and growing influence within the Lausanne movement in the seventies, are sketched. The impact and consequences of church growth for world missions and for church life in the USA are noted. Finally, in a series of “random thoughts,” Glasser appraises both the strengths and weaknesses of the church growth concept, affirms that it is being corrected and enlarged, and claims for it an enduring place in the church's evolving missionary strategy of the eighties.

Abstract:
Church growth is an important study in church history. The Bible has important principles in church growth, therefore these principles need to be analyzed so that they can contribute to the study of church growth. The Acts of the Apostles is a book that has a history and principles of church growth, therefore the author conducted research on church growth based on Acts 2: 1-47. The author uses a qualitative approach to literature study to find the principles of church growth based on Acts 2: 1-47. The results showed that there were three principles for the growth of the early church. The first principle based on the fourth verse is to depend on the Holy Spirit, the second principle based on verses 14-36, 42 is to preach the Word of God, the third principle based on verses 42-46 is to live in fellowship. For the growth of the church today the church must depend on the power of the Holy Spirit, teaching based on the word of God, and the church lives in fellowship.

Abstract:
Church growth is a phenomenon that is very commonly discussed by people, especially in the Christian world. Often church growth is seen from the quantity (the number of congregations growing rapidly and many) without regard to the quality of the congregation. Although the Bible does not specifically talk about church growth, the principle of church growth is understood in the words of Jesus "I will build my church and the gates of hell will not overpower it", (Matt. 16:18), the church can live and grow even though the number of membership / attendance do not change. According to Rick Warren, healthy church growth is multi-dimensional growth, namely a church that grows closer to each other through fellowship, grows more earnestly through discipleship, and grows stronger through worship (Waren, 2019). He further said that the growth of the church is the result of a healthy natural where the preaching of the Bible and the mission carried out are balanced. In the church there are factors that inhibit church growth, namely: quantitative factors, qualitative factors, organic factors, historical trauma factors, theological misunderstanding factors, religious factors. For this reason, the Church must experience changes in dealing with any situation and influence the world. The church can not only rotate in one place. The church must make a difficult change, namely by preaching the gospel of salvation to those in need, in order to be saved. The church must make new breakthroughs in an increasingly changing world.

Abstract:
The condition of God's church today is quite interesting to the author's attention, especially in terms of the character of church growth. The church lost a Biblical figure in terms of church growth. As a result of losing this figure, the church uses any means or justifies any means to force its growth so that they are trapped in unbiblical practices in their growth. The church's indiscretion in observing the Bible to find a good portrait of church growth. As a result of the church's inaccuracy in observing the truth of the Bible, there is a narrowing of the church's understanding of its duties and responsibilities. The understanding of the church in terms of the theology of church growth is an unbiblical theology. This happens because of an incomprehensible understanding of Bible truth, so there are Biblical theological deviations. There are many more shifts in the value of church growth that are happening today, the author is sure that such a method has never existed in the Bible. Too many of God's churches have grown using patterns that are still relevant today and are very Biblical. This is done because church leaders are individuals who have matured in formation and preparation either in science (formal education) or in life experience. Biblical patterns of church growth are still relevant today, as history has proven it.

Abstract:
Purpose: This study entailed assessing moderating effect of empowerment on servant leadership and church spiritual growth. The general objective of the study was to establish how empowerment moderates the relationship between servant leadership and church spiritual growth in Pentecostal Churches in Kenya within the Nairobi metropolitan counties. The study delved on Pentecostal Evangelical Fellowship of Africa (PEFA); Kenya Assemblies of God (KAG), and Full Gospel Churches of Kenya (FGCK), all under the umbrella of National Council of Churches of Kenya (NCCK). The study was guided by servant leadership, empowerment and spiritual leadership theories which all indicate that servant leaders play a crucial role in empowerment of church members and consequently causing effect on church growth. Materials and Methods: Descriptive cross-sectional survey design was used for the study and pragmatism was employed as a philosophical framework for the research. The study employed a mixed method approach with both quantitative and qualitative research methods in use and data collection undertaken through, questionnaires and interview guides. The target population constituted 2000 church pastors, elders as well as members from which a sample of 333 was obtained through purposive and stratified random sampling techniques in selected Pentecostal churches within Nairobi, Machakos, Muranga, Kiambu and Kajiado counties. The total response rate was 304 (91%). Quantitative data was analyzed using descriptive statistics, correlation and regression analysis, where Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 29 was used. On qualitative data, thematic analysis was carried out on two focus discussions groups to determine views of participants. Findings: Church members’ empowerment has no significant moderating effect in the relationship between servant leadership and church spiritual growth of Pentecostal Churches within Nairobi metropolitan counties of Kenya. The linearity test results for the relationship between spiritual growth and empowerment suggest a significant linear association, as indicated by the low p-values (all p-values are less than 0.05). The high F-value (197.904) and low p-value (0.000) suggest a highly significant linear relationship between Spiritual Growth and Empowerment. The Pearson's correlation coefficient (R) of 0.609 signifies a moderately strong positive relationship between spiritual growth and empowerment, indicating that as one variable increases, the other tends to increase as well. There is therefore a significant moderating effect of empowerment on servant leadership and church spiritual growth. On the research question that stated: “To what extent does Church members’ empowerment moderate the relationship between servant leadership and church spiritual growth of Pentecostal Churches within Nairobi metropolitan counties in Kenya?” Majority of participants agreed that church members’ empowerment moderated relationship between servant leadership and church spiritual growth pointing that training, involvement and sharing of responsibilities with church members by their leaders positively affected church growth both spiritually and numerically. Implications to theory, practice and Policy: The study supported servant leadership, empowerment and spiritual leadership theories. In addition, the study bridged a number of research gaps in area of servant leadership, empowerment and church spiritual growth indicated in the statement of the problem. The most noticeable gap is the contextual gap where many studies on church growth only delved on numerical growth and leaving out spiritual growth of which this study addressed. The study recommended that the church should put more emphasis on active participation of church members in decision making processes especially on provision of suggestion boxes within the church premises for this triggers church spiritual growth. The church was recommended to adopt servant leadership style and endeavor to empower the membership so as to realize church spiritual growth.

Abstract:
The pastor has a very important influence on his church. The leadership of a pastor in a church will affect the growth that occurs in the church. A healthy church is a growing church. However, pastors sometimes neglect to provide guidance so that the church does not grow. If there is no action, an appropriate method of counseling is applied in the church, it will cause a more complicated problem. The purpose of this study is to reveal the role of the pastor on leadership and growth in the church. The problems in this study are as follows: What is the role of the pastor on church leadership and growth in the perspective of pastoral counseling?. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The results used in this study indicate a form of pastoral counseling method given by the pastor to congregation members as leaders and to increase church growth. The existence of pastoral counseling can help the pastor's role in leadership in the church and display a superior character, trustworthy attitude and role model in growing the church.

Abstract:
The Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) faces challenges in its growth endeavors, including program sustainability and the need for technological and spiritual advancement. These challenges imply that ACK followers may not fully benefit from the socio-economic and spiritual advantages associated with church membership. This study aimed to investigate the correlation between strategic leadership intent and ACK’s growth. The study utilized a cross-sectional design to investigate church leadership dynamics within the Anglican Church of Kenya, specifically focusing on strategic leadership and church growth. A sample of 315 church leaders was drawn from various administrative levels, including provincial administration members and diocesan secretariat members, reflecting both urban and rural demographics. Proportional stratified sampling ensured representation across different strata. Data collection involved a structured questionnaire administered either online or in person, covering participant demographics and key research variables. Reliability coefficients, such as Cronbach’s alpha, were computed to ensure the questionnaire’s internal consistency. Statistical analyses, including linear regression, were conducted using SPSS to evaluate research hypotheses. The study found that strategic leadership intent explained 19.1% of the variance in church growth within the Anglican Church of Kenya, indicating a significant relationship between the two factors. A one-unit increase in strategic leadership intent corresponded to a 0.438 increase in church growth, suggesting a positive association between the two variables. These findings support the idea that effective strategic leadership plays a crucial role in driving church growth, with nearly one-fifth of the variations in growth attributable to strategic leadership. Overall, the results underscore the importance of strategic leadership in fostering the growth and development of the Anglican Church of Kenya. Subsequent research endeavors could explore distinct facets of strategic leadership to discern their individual impacts on church growth.

Abstract:
The study of church growth has historically been divided into two strands of research: the Church Growth Movement and the Social Science approach. This article argues that Dunbar’s Social Brain Hypothesis represents a legitimate and fruitful third strand in the study of church growth, sharing features of both previous strands but identical with neither. We argue that five predictions derived from the Social Brain Hypothesis are accurately borne out in the empirical and practical church growth literature: that larger congregations lead to lower active engagement from members; that single-leader congregations are limited to around 150 members; that congregations of 150 are further stratified into smaller functioning groups; that congregations expanding beyond 150 members undergo internal tensions and are forced to reorganise; and that congregations larger than 150 will require structural sub-divisions to retain active member involvement. While these assertions are reflected in the church growth literature and articulate the common sense assumptions of church growth experts, the Social Brain Hypothesis offers a coherent theoretical framework which unifies these observations and thereby represents a distinctive contribution to church growth studies.

Abstract: The problems of the church today must be carefully considered in order to think carefully about what must be done to achieve a church growth in accordance with God's will. In fact today the church is not growing because so many people were lost after they accepted Jesus. A general description of continued guidance that results in church growth that is happening today is that the problem is the existence of a weakness and negligence of the church, namely the lack of steady implementation of further guidance services which results in church growth being less stable in quality. Key words: A Church gwoth in accordance with God’s will.

Abstract:
The existence of the church in this world is God's plan and will. Like a plant, which naturally grows and develops; as is the case with the existence of the church, God desires that His church grow and develop both in quality and quantity. There are various factors that influence the growth of the church, including the presence of church members and good pastoral care for the people. This research to describe the influence of church building and pastoral care on the growth of the congregation of the Bethel Indonesia Church “Family Blessing” Surabaya. Apart from that, to find out how much influence each independent variable has on the dependent variable. The approach used in this research is quantitative; where the population which is the object of this research is 400 members of the Bethel Indonesia Church “Family Blessing” Surabaya. The sample is taken from a population of 24% or 96 people who can represent the population with a simple random sampling technique. The data collection technique uses an instrument in the form of a questionnaire to collect data on three variables, namely: (1) fostering church members, (2) pastoral care, and (3) church growth. The results of the study showed: (1) the influence of coaching church members on the growth of the congregation of the Bethel Indonesia Church “Family Blessing” Surabaya was in the medium category. (2) the influence of pastoral care on the growth of the congregation of the Bethel Indonesia Church “Family Blessing” Surabaya in the medium category. And (3) the influence of coaching church members and pastoral care together on the growth of the congregation of the Bethel Indonesia Church “Family Blessing” Surabaya is also in the medium category. Based on the findings in this research, several suggestions were suggested as follows: (1) The formation of church members, with three dimensions, namely Coinonia, Diakonia and Marturia had influence in the medium category. It is recommended that it be maintained, even if the implementation is increased. Because through these three dimensions the resources of the people are included in the ministry. (2) As with the formation of church members, pastoral care also influences the moderate category of church growth, therefore it is recommended that the implementation be increased so that through direct contact with the life of the congregation it will strengthen the spirituality of the church.

Abstract:
This article examines the extent of church growth in Britain in recent decades, in response to the articulation of the secularisation thesis with regard to Christian congregations in recent British history. It shows that alongside the widely recognised phenomenon of church decline, there has been significant church growth—notably in London, amongst black, Asian, and minority ethnic communities and amongst new churches. This runs counter to many discussions of religion in recent British history, which assume overwhelming and ongoing church decline and which assume any church growth is peripheral. The article recognises evidence of significant church decline—but critiques the view that this should be the sole or the dominant narrative. The findings of the article throw up a range of questions that offer significant new avenues for further research.

Abstract:
This article discusses parachurch (hereinafter referred to as the Organisasi Pendamping Gereja / OPG). According to Jerry White, a parachurch is all forms of spiritual ministry whose organizational structure is not under the control of the church. Reflecting on this definition, in reality, the relationship between the church and the OPG is not always harmonious, and there is often tension between the two. One of the negative issues that arise is regarding the existence of OPG. There are some churches who question the existence of the OPG and see the OPG as their rival. This article provides a perspective on the existence and important role of OPG for church growth. For this reason, this article uses a qualitative method through a literature review and is supported by the results of interviews that the author conducted. The contribution of this research is to erode the negative views held by the church regarding OPG and to encourage the church to collaborate with OPG in carrying out God's mission. From the OPG side, this article can show that the OPG should not and cannot be separated from the church.

Abstract:
The growth of a church is not instant. Expected growth cannot be separated from the influence of comprehensive teaching from a pastor and other instructors, the true growth process of the Church is inseparable from a way that is through discipleship, so that the congregation that he pastors may grow in quality and quantity to lead to the expected maturity by Christ. In fact in the church where the researchers joined, namely GPSI Shekinah Samarinda, the Assumption found several problems regarding the commitment of the congregation in GPSI Region I Samarinda. A temporary assumption is that not a few local church congregations do not reside or in other words like to move around church denominations. This is a sign that there is a problem with the so-called effect of a healthy shepherding on the growth of local congregations. This temporary assumption needs to be explored more depth in what causes and how local church congregations who are supposed to comply with local church rules, in fact do not implement and have no commitment to the local church.

Abstract:
Purpose: This study investigates the relationship between community building and spiritual growth within Pentecostal Churches in the Nairobi metropolitan counties of Kenya, focusing on the Pentecostal Evangelical Fellowship of Africa (PEFA), Kenya Assemblies of God (KAG), and Full Gospel Churches of Kenya (FGCK) under the National Council of Churches of Kenya (NCCK). Grounded in servant leadership, empowerment, and spiritual leadership theories, the research combines quantitative and qualitative methods to explore how servant leaders facilitate community building and its impact on church growth. Methodology: The study was guided by servant leadership, empowerment and spiritual leadership theories. The study was conducted across multiple Pentecostal denominations within the Nairobi Metropolitan counties, including Nairobi, Kajiado, Muranga, Kiambu, and Machakos in Kenya. Data collection involved 333 church leaders and members, with 173 from PEFA, 80 from KAG, and 80 from FGCK, resulting in a response rate of 91%. Additionally, two discussion groups comprising pastors and elders from PEFA and KAG churches in Kajiado County were interviewed using an interview guide, totaling 17 members. The total response rate of church leaders and members was 304 (91%). The descriptive cross-sectional survey research design and exploratory designs were adopted for data collection and analysis where respondents provided relevant data. The research was anchored on the pragmatism philosophy. Quantitative data was analyzed using descriptive statistics, correlation and regression analysis, where Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 29 was used. Thematic analysis was employed in analyzing qualitative type of data. Purposive and stratified random sampling techniques were employed to select the sample, ensuring representation of subgroups within the population. This approach facilitated efficient and cost-effective data collection while maintaining the integrity of the study's findings Findings: Data collected from 304 respondents, including pastors, elders, and members, reveals a significant positive association between community building and spiritual growth, with volunteer services rating relatively low. The results showed a positive significance of community building in affecting church spiritual growth. The study findings in all the three models: Model summary, ANOVA and Coefficient confirm the significance of community building in church spiritual growth. The correlation coefficient results yielded a positive relationship of 0.580. However, descriptive statistics on mean scores of how respondents views the practice of community building in their churches, the sub variable of voluntary community services was ranked the lowest (3.7) amongst the other constructs. Nevertheless, there is a need for enhancement of voluntary services by the Pentecostal churches in areas such as health, free cleaning and training services to give back to the community. When church leadership participate in welfare activities such as helping the vulnerable in society, this positively affects church growth both spiritually and numerically. The findings emphasize the importance of enhancing volunteer engagement to foster both spiritual and numerical church growth. This study contributes to theoretical understanding and practical implications for Pentecostal church settings, addressing research gaps and advocating for servant leadership practices that empower church members and promote community building for holistic church growth.Contribution to Theory, Policy and Practice: The study supported servant leadership, empowerment and spiritual leadership theories. Servant leaders play a crucial role in empowering of church members through community building causing effect on church growth. The study revealed and filled a number of conceptual, theoretical, contextual and empirical glaring research gaps in area of servant leadership attribute of community building and church spiritual growth. The most noticeable gap is the contextual gap where many studies on church growth only delved on numerical growth and leaving out spiritual growth of which this study addressed. The study also revealed a gap in volunteer services with a mean of 4.1. Pentecostal churches therefore need to put more efforts to improve volunteer services as well as promotion of spiritual formation so as to enhance church spiritual growth.

Abstract:
Often cell groups are considered part of a church program. Usually held once a week. Until recently, cell groups were considered commonplace and many churches forgot about this. The church must quickly realize that cell groups must be built for the growth of a church. This desire is driven by the fact that cell groups are an important part of the growth of a church. For that the author tries to explore about this cell group and how it affects the growth of the church. Here the author invites all believers to pay attention to the church in Indonesia, what is the response given about the growth of the church? Is it just a natural growth, in the sense of the church preaching the good news to people who do not currently know Jesus or the church only accommodating other church members who are bitter towards the pastors and workers of the church. Church leaders can find a very interesting and effective way of church growth that is in the Bible that can be applied today.AbstrakSeringkali kelompok sel dianggap sebagai salah satu program gereja. Biasanya diadakan setiap seminggu sekali.

This article examines the possible relationship between the sentiment of church-related tweets and church growth. It finds that within the sample of tweets analysed, there is a statistically significant relationship between the sentiment of a church-related tweet and the presence of church growth in the geographical area from which the tweet was posted. This work builds on the body of knowledge surrounding church growth and decline in the United Kingdom, by seeking to better understand how new sources of data, in this case freely available social media data, can be used to gain a better understanding of the behaviours of churches which regularly form, merge, move, split and close.

Abstract:
The church is a the gathering of believers who walk together in conveying the mission of the message to the world. In fulfilling this vocation mission the church has a method that moves and grows. This growth is due to the methods and ways of translating the mission of the church. Community church is one method for fulfilling the church's mission. A church community that tries to convey its mission in a way that is out of the ordinary that takes place in the main church, both from the liturgical and media delivery point of view, is typical of the community church itself. In the Bible itself, the community church played an important role in the development of Christianity. The movement that started in Jerusalem as recorded in Acts 2:41-47 is an example of the community church movement. By using a qualitative method through collecting data from primary sources, namely the Bible and also references regarding the growth of the church, both books and journal manuscripts. It is hoped that this research will be able to provide information about one method of church growth, namely a community church that seeks to convey its mission along with the development of the times.
