Abstract:
Cinderella’s character and feminist ideology are contradictory. The phrase “Cinderella Complex Syndrome,” which refers to women’s dread of independence, supports this idea. Fairy tales are full of beautiful, passive, submissive princesses, as well as bold, independent female constrained by archaic gender stereotypes. They uphold conventional norms about gender roles and value. Fairy tale adaptation is not a new phenomenon; for centuries, people have used it to further their objectives, uphold their cultural standards, and further their ideologies. The construction of feminism in Cinderella rhyme via podcast is the main focus of this study. This rendition carries the feminist ideals while representing an unexpected tale. This study uses discourse analysis methodology, relying on the ideas of liberal feminism and Linda Hutcheon’s theory of adaptation. According to this theory, adaptation encompasses both the process and the final output. It is evident from Cinderella’s podcast that retelling of the narrative is dependent on the story teller’s perception and incorporates a new ideology – liberal feminism, which is associated with the second wave of feminism. This study shows how the liberal feminism ideology in Cinderella’s rhyme is constructed through modifications in the storyline and characterization. This Cinderella portrayal gives more depth that doesn’t match the image of a traditional princess and shows that she can accomplish anything she sets her mind to. This Cinderella adaptation tale shows Cinderella active role that frees herself from her oppressor as the development of liberal feminism in her character. Cinderella’s assertive voice in voicing her demands and desires also supports the liberal feminism idea.

Abstract:
Women entering early adulthood will face various developmental demands and challenges. These demands and challenges require early adult women to be independent and no longer dependent on other people. This research is a new finding that aims to reveal the relationship between self-concept and gender-oriented parenting independently and simultaneously with the Cinderella complex in 312 early adult women. The measuring instruments in the research are the self-concept scale, the gender-oriented parenting style scale, and the Cinderella complex scale. The data analysis technique used multiple regression and the results obtained were that self-concept and gender-oriented parenting were simultaneously related to the Cinderella complex with an effective contribution of 32.2% (23% contribution of self-concept & 29.4% contribution of gender-oriented parenting). This research supports external factors as factors that have a greater influence on the Cinderella complex based on a comparison of correlation coefficient values and effective contribution. These findings can be a basis for consideration for further research related to the Cinderella complex theme and the formulation of interventions for women with Cinderella complex syndrome

Abstract:
Abstract The Cinderella Complex is largely defined as a network of repressed attitudes and worries that, like Cinderella, stop women from using their minds and creativity to the fullest. The occurrence of Cinderella Complex in individuals can be influenced by several factors, namely: parenting style and self-concept. The population in this study were all students at the Tri Bakti Al Ikhlas Islamic Boarding School, totaling 97 people. This research aims to empirically prove the relationship between parenting patterns and self-concept with the tendency to have a Cinderella complex in female students at the Tri Bakti Al Ikhlas Islamic Boarding School. The data used is primary data with data collection techniques using questionnaires. The analytical method in this research is correlation analysis and multiple linear regression. The analytical tool used in this research is the SPSS Version 20 program. The results of this research prove that permissive parenting and self-concept have a positive and very strong relationship with the tendency to have a Cinderella complex in female students. The contribution of the influence of the independent variables (permissive parenting style and self-concept) to the dependent variable (Cinderella complex) was 86.8%, while the remaining 13.2% was influenced or explained by other factors not included in this model. Keywords: Cinderella Complex, Foster Pattern, Self Conception.

Abstract:

Brazilian politics has for a long time been considered an elitist system, dealing with corruption and social inequalities. In 2002 something unimagined happened when the former industrial worker Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, was elected President of the Republic of Brazil. This case study examines Lula’s authority role as President by testing the theories Cinderella Complex and Max Weber’s theory of Pure Leadership. It also tries to explain what motivates Lula’s actions and what affect this has on Brazilian politics. The case study reveals that Lula is not driven by any ideology, but is motivated by own personal interests of eliminating hunger and poverty. To realise these wishes he creates alliances in order to get enough support for these policies. Even though his government is designed as a bureaucratic administration, Lula has not proven to use rational ideas to establish new reforms. Instead he is dependent on raising enough support and trust, through his charismatic image. This is visible in his election campaigns. This leadership style has implemented some valuable programmes like the Fome Zero and Bolsa Familia, but his endless travels and commitments abroad joint with his approach to the corruption scandal in 2005 has created a new image of Lula as a negligent person.

This case study is using qualitative methods to explain the leader and President of Brazil.

Abstract:
碩士
東吳大學
英文學系
101
Feminist consciousness was awakened with the coming of the 20th century. Does the dream of “someday my Prince will come and rescue me” still exist in the heart of modern women? Do women still desire to be the next Cinderella, wearing the beautiful glass slippers? Even if the slippers do not fit, will women hypnotize and convince themselves that “this prince” is the true love they have been waiting for? Do modern women unconsciously suffer from the “Cinderella Complex” that will strip them of their agency? This Thesis will investigate children’s stories in three ways—the protagonist’s strong desire (her dream), the protagonist’s personality characteristics in response to society’s pressure and the modern subversions of traditional fairytales. These three elements overlap, interact with each other and together strongly relate to the protagonist’s influence on her own future. This thesis is divided into five chapters. The first chapter will define and explain the “Cinderella Complex” and show how agency relates to the different versions of the Cinderella fairy tales from different cultural traditions. Feminist theories will be analyzed in Chapter Two. The reason for the protagonist’s strong desire and how she has been reared to fit into the patriarchal society; the dream of Cinderella will be analyzed as the cause of the “Cinderella Complex” and how this complex neutralizes agency by applying the theories of the Radical Feminism. Simone de Beauvoir’s “gaze of the Other” is applied to demonstrate how the female is materialized into an object of the gaze of “Other.” In the third chapter I selected Babette Cole’s two picture books: Princess Smartypants (1986) and Prince Cinders (1987) to examine how the author rejects and subverts the idea of a helpless dreamer who has to be saved by a prince. In the fourth chapter, I will deal with the novella, Virginia Hamilton’s Zeely, which subverts the idea of the Cinderella story to the point of abandoning the archetypal Cinderella pattern. The fifth chapter will be the conclusion which leads to the importance of how female characters and their agency appear within children’s literature. Key words: Cinderella, female agency, Cinderella Complex, Princess Smartypants, Prince Cinders, Zeely, fairy tales, patriarchal society, gaze of Other.

Abstract:
Over the past thirty years, the generative framework has greatly contributed to the study of both the internal and external syntax of spatial adpositions, with the intent—among many other things—of giving a unitary account of their heterogeneous nature and behavior. Once the Cinderellas of grammar, prepositions have been extensively investigated in earlier research. The major result of these studies was to show that prepositional phrases have a complex internal structure, and that the grammatical encoding of locative meaning has its own place in UG. This volume constitutes the implementation and the ideal continuation of the seminal proposals in the generative tradition. The essays collected in the first part of the volume not only test these proposals against new (micro-)comparative data, but also shed new light on the relation between spatial expressions and other semantic relations like possession. The second part of the volume looks beyond spatial PPs, exploring the role of Ps not only in non-spatial environments such as comitatives, but also in more general phenomena like verbal affixation, ellipsis, and complementation.

Abstract:
Still the most influential and popular songwriting team in the history of the American Musical Theatre, Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein represent Broadway musicals at their finest. The team revolutionized the musical play with Oklahoma! in 1943 and then went on to explore territory never put on the musical stage before in such beloved shows as Carousel, South Pacific, The King and I and The Sound of Music. The team also worked in film, as with State Fair, and in the new medium of television, with Cinderella. For the first time, the lives, careers, works, songs, and themes of Rodgers and Hammerstein have been gathered together in an encyclopedia that covers the many talents of these men. In addition to their plays and films together, every work that each man did with other collaborators is also discussed. Hundreds of their songs are described, and there are entries on the many actors, directors, and other creative artists who they worked with. A complete list of awards, recordings, and books about the team are included, as well as a chronology of everything either man wrote. But The Rodgers and Hammerstein Encyclopedia is not just about facts. It explains their work, explores themes in their musicals, and illustrates why they remain a driving force in the American Theatre. This is the first encyclpoedia to look specifically at the careers and works of Rodgers and Hammerstein, covering all their musicals together for stage, screen and televsion, but also everything they wrote with others. The purpose is to create a comprehensive guide to the American Musical Theatres foremost collaboration. The encyclopedia is (1) comprehensve, describing the works, the people involved in those works, and many of their famous songs; ( 2) up-to-date, including the most recent revivals of their works and new recordings of their scores; and (3) easy to use, being alphabetically arranged with cross-reference listings, chronological lists, lists of awards and recordings, and bibliographic information for further reading.

Abstract:
Jane Austen is one of the most prominent writers of the 19th century. In terms of chronology, her six novels fall between the 18th-century neoclassical formality and the effusive romanticism after the 19th century. Her novels portray the socio-political and cultural landscape of Regency England even though her prose style, manner, and approach held no resemblance to her contemporaries. Austen seems to operate in a limited landscape and writes about what she is most familiar with birth, love, marriage, death, faith, and judgment. She details the tedious business of living of the gentry in her society and displays unrivaled knowledge of the upper middle class. Even though issues of women were at the crux of Austen’s writing, Austen is not considered to be a staunch feminist writer. She concentrated on upper-middle-class women whose marriage, and courtship were the cynosure of her plots as she thoroughly examines the right basis for marriage in her work. However, most of her heroines have been written off critically as the selfsame Cinderellas. Therefore, the monotonous aura engulfing Austenian heroines who are in search of marital bliss has been inadvertently appendaged to the Cinderella Complex and hence the prejudiced critique. Austenian heroines are said to lack passion and vibrancy and by extension, character. This paper intends to analyze the portrayal of two Austenian heroines in view of the Cinderella Complex with the objective of exploring these portrayals beyond the Cinderella archetype. Keywords: Victorian women, Cinderella Complex, marriage, self-discovery, happiness

Abstract:
Using computational technology to support in-depth understanding of complex physical phenomena represents an opportunity in the current educational practice. Harnessing powerful but affordable technology enables teaching concepts and mathematical models otherwise more difficult to explain. The teacher of Physics has the chance to perform their work of teaching not only as a Science but also as an Art, in their striving to initiate pupils in the alphabet of Science. The objective of teaching activities is not confined to mere scientific literacy, but also to transmit the joy of understanding the world we live in, and to raise the interest for study and research. In this paper, we show how some spectacular optical phenomena can be understood in depth by the students, through recourse to the mathematical language of Physics. In our approach, the computer becomes, together with the teacher, a key mediator in the process of understanding complex mathematical relations by the students. The activities presented in this paper were carried out at the Centre of Excellence of Satu Mare, with students of the interdisciplinary study group who are involved in inquiry based learning, by the creation and the use of computer models in the study of Science. The computer applications that have been used in our activities, namely the educational software Cinderella and GeoGebra, are free and allow an appropriate implementation of various mathematical models. The purpose of our research is to discover new ways of using computational technologies in education, whereby a greater number of students can understand the principles of scientific inquiry, becoming interested and passionate about Science.
