The complex contemporary social scenario has caused many changes in both the nature of labor and in its organization. In this context, coworking, or shared workspace, seems to foresee these changes, proposing a new work model oriented to contemporary demands. Therefore, this study assumes the coworking spaces as an investigative field and adopts Impact Hub São Paulo as an empirical example to understand the identity construction process of this group. Thereby, we take on the theoretical and methodological approach proposed by the Culture Circuit, by understanding the cultural dimension as central to contemporary life. In order to access the variety of subjectivities of Impact Hub São Paulo coworker’s collective identification process, a linguistic corpus able to maximize the variety of meanings around the said coworking was designed from materials collected through individual interviews and unsystematic observations. Data analysis was realized by Discourse’s Analysis (GILL, 2002), that allowed us access to the ways to support the discourse at different moments of the circuit. The results refer to an identity construct ordered by a Community philosophy resulting from a management that occurs through ideology, articulating senses and establishing hegemonic discourses around a collaborative production, capable of giving pleasure and create meaning for those who perform the work, raising consumption of a type of flexible working, cause and consequence of a selfregulatory collective identity, marked by the idea of sustainable impact enterprising, that seeks the coworking formal labor representation.

The research tries to understand the way by which the electronic music culture is signified in the urban space of João Pessoa. This comprehension passes through the conformation of a festive setting circuit that, on a certain way reflects assumptions and significances of certain places of the urban space by the young people who affiliate to it. This culture with the youthful character of contemporaneity was gestated in England at the second half of the eighties and, in a short time, assumed an eminent transnational character, arriving to lead in the urban space of João Pessoa city at the end of the 90´s. At some measure, this young cultural practice has as a characteristic to fuse diversion with commercial activity, when it manifests itself at the city´s night leisure sphere through parties, bars and night clubs, and whose dynamics can be observed through social practices that youth, from them, develop in the urban and social environment. It´s appearance at the capital of Paraíba came linked to the electronic music genre and to the different themes that form it, which are very consumed and appreciated by society´s medium and high stratums. This way, this report pretends to emphasize social, cultural and behavioral practices that people build from dancing meetings that youthful culture itself makes in these urban and social contexts. The report was developed using ethnographic procedures, especially because the active observation offered a close and internal look of the investigated phenomenon, at the same time that tries to interlace three lines of reflection: the youthful culture, the social actors and the city.

Full textThis dissertation presents the controversies in which musicians, producers and publics are involved with in what concerns forró, its parties, dances and music. In view of the denominations given to the styles of forró as a musical genre (such as electronic forró, pé-deserra and universitário), this work aims at exposing the meanings comprised by those words in different contexts, by different actors in the dispute over the definition and authentication of how to play the forró. More than to distinguish a specific kind of music making, those assortments of forró help form tastes, opinions and organize forró parties in São Paulo, the site focused on on the research. The parties occur in several neighborhoods of the metropolis and embrace different social classes and circuits. The classifications attributed to the forró also help to delimit the meanings of these social classes in different contexts and connect what is made in the Southeast of the country to what is produced in the Northeast, place know as the point of origin of forró. Thus, this dissertation asks how and why there is, from the point of view of the social distinction, an association among a popular musical genre, a source of leisure and the hierarchy of the spaces where forró parties take place. The main objective of this research, therefore, is, from the confluence of these three elements (music, dance and party) and from the distinct representations of the forró\'s origin, understand how the social production of difference that separates musicians, producers, publics and any other appraisers in various places and social circuits is made.

Full textThe following work raises the need to improve and regenerate a public urban space in the city of Iquitos, such as the Joaquin Abensur boardwalk. This project is located in a strategic place in the center of Iquitos to improve the existing and emerging cultural activity. In addition, throughout the entire project, take advantage of guiding towards the landscape view of the itaya river. The project includes cultural activities to spread the Amazonian culture allowing the development of native art typical of the area. The research started from the recognition of the Joaquin Abensur boardwalk as an important space within the city of Iquitos that should be improved as part of an existing tourist circuit. Feeling the place, talking with users (locals), and visitors was an important starting point for his research, which increased his interest in expanding this space, gaining area towards the river and giving quality to the existing trade. The approach is based on respect for a clean vision of the river and the continuity of the urban circuit, giving fluidity to the pedestrian at the level of the boardwalk and proposing the activities to be developed at a lower level connected to the river. It clearly delimits the urban space integrated to the city and the urban space integrated to the river and it is here where the materiality of both spaces in the project changes.

The meaning of jeans produced by Toritama is a collective construction, the result of joint actions of a chain of actors that culturally undertake to articulate meanings to this artifact. So, to contextualize this dynamic of meaning, we seek to understand the discursive dimensions that mark the cultural production of jeans in the fashion field in Toritama, from the actors chain perspective that act as cultural producers. In this scenario, the study follows the theoretical and methodological approach suggested by Du Culture Circuit Gay et al. (1997a), derived from the tradition of Cultural Studies. As a way to access the field of jeans production of subjectivities in the town of Toritama they were conducted semi-structured interviews with 06 representative players in the production chain, which drive and demarcate the subjective production of jeans as a fashion product. Data analysis was guided with the support of - Discourse Analysis (AD) - in the perspective proposed by Gil (2002). The considerations on the research findings point to a cultural production that means not only Toritama jeans in fashion, but the whole way of life and cultural values of this city. Therefore, before the arguments in the research findings, the final considerations suggest that fashion in Toritama through the jeans, appears as a tangle of cultural discourses and power for disputes. Which fall under minimally market strategies for the fashion business guided the discourse of the creative economy. But they unfold and give the great dimension of life in this city, which articulates the jeans as a symbol of history and achievements, exposing the jeans as epistemological basis of Toritama culture.
Ramovha, Ndivhuwo M. "Leadership and productive school culture at selected secondary schools in Limpopo province." Thesis, Stellenbosch : University of Stellenbosch, 2009. http://hdl.handle.net/10019.1/2010.
Full textENGLISH ABSTRACT: This study explores leadership and productive school culture, and focuses on school leadership at selected schools in the Nzhelele West Circuit in the Limpopo Province. Leadership plays a pivotal role in the functioning of any organisation, be it in business or in education, and the concept of leadership has become more prominent over the last decade, and there are various debates around its meaning and what it entails. In order to develop a better understanding of leadership, a literature review is conducted. This review highlights the differences between leadership and management, and explores different leadership styles. With regards to productive school culture, this study indicates that schools may look alike in terms of their physical structure, composition of staff members and purpose of their existence, but may differ drastically on how they operate. This kind of culture represents the common shared values, rituals, ceremonies, stories and an internal cultural network that values heroes, such as an extraordinary teacher. I conclude that school culture and school leadership are inseparable issues because cultural management remains the responsibility of the school leadership This study finds that leadership is of vital importance in all organisations, and that the meanings of the concept of leadership have changed over years. Further, administering schools in a democratic fashion still pose tremendous challenges to the school leadership as a whole. It seems as if the schools which are part of this investigation still struggle to adjust to a democratic dispensation. This research therefore concludes that school leaders need to ensure that they are both good managers and effective leaders. They must also ensure that the culture at their schools is conducive for teaching and learning. Keywords: leadership, management, schools, leadership styles, productive school culture.

Abstract: The beginning of this research is done by the Graphic Designers Association of Brazil and the 9th Brazilian Biennial of Graphic Design, which aimed to conduct a survey regarding the participation of graphic design on the cultural artistic circuit. On this survey, the analysis were focused on two study cases regarding projects of cultural dissemination on the artistic circuit, specifically the art institutions, directly related to the music and dance arts. Included on this is designer's Kiko Farkas, twelve showing posters of culture and arts focused on music for the Symphony Orchestra of the State of São Paulo - OSESP and designer Vicente Gil, with the visual identity, seen in the showing by the brand and poster, designed for the institution and focused on dance. São Paulo Dance Company - SPCD. Separately are observed the basic visual elements that compose the materialization of graphic pieces, divided more specifically in shape, color and typography. On the graphic shapes, this includes questions related to graphics, drawings, photographs, layout of elements, grids, among others. The analysis of the formal aspects of the study cases comes mainly from the classification method of visual language proposed by Dondis (2003). On the chromatic aspects, studies addressing the lifting of the main sets of colors, through specific software, highlighting the ways to use the colors applied by designers on projects. The questions aimed the raising typographical, through specific software and bibliography, the main families of printers used in the projects, highlighting how their characteristics and differentials were used by designers. Following some contributions to the understanding of the discursive strategies and creative journeys of the case studies in graphic design on the artistic cultural circuit will be explored. Finally, supplemental information beyond the ones provided by the 9th Biennial ADG, images, interviews and visits, complementing the understanding of the cases studied. Punctual studies enable broader understanding of processes in common, or similar, between different areas of cultural production. Thus, it is possible to start drawing a parallel between the practice of cultural and artistic activities with the activity exerted by graphic designer, with projects aimed at dissemination of cultural products, and they themselves, become cultural products

Full textThe purpose of this research is to study the role of the sensitive relationship at the heart of the pedagogical relationship by crossing two domains, phenomenology and psychoanalysis. I analyzed, from a clinical perspective of psychoanalytic orientation, the situations and events observed in my teaching and psychopedagogical practice. From this field experience, I theoretically developed the sensitive relationship by apprehending it as a circuit. From then on, I called this process the circuit of the sensitive by bringing to light what was at the foundation of this circuit namely the drive and the object relationship mediated by the relationship between parents and children. Referring to the notion of holding and didactic transfer (Blanchard-Laville, 2002), I developed the idea that this Sensible circuit was found within the classroom and the educational relationship. From this theoretical elaboration, I wondered about the impact that a particular object that the connected object could have on the circuit of the sensible. Could we consider that a loss of the Sensible was played out (Haroche, 2007), a catastrophy of the Sensible (Stiegler, 2007) ? For my part, I made the hypothesis that a new circuit of the Sensible called insensitive sensibility developed by which a new regime of prescriptions and a new type of relations between individuals was put in place. At the origin of this paradigmatic change, I targeted, not the irruption of digital social networks, but a change in relations between parents and children. The children were gradually cut off from the adult world causing a deterioration of the intergenerational relations and its corollary, the attention, thus engendering mistrust. On the other hand, I defended the thesis that the connected object came to compensate or respond to this disintegration of intergenerational relations by creating a group-skinned ego and a "bunker effect". Indeed, digital social networks have enabled the establishment of a group protection protecting the adolescent population marked by a feeling of mistrust vis-à-vis the previous generation

Full textOur research here deals with the organisation of relations between producers and distributors in the cultural sector. The decision studied is relative to the assortment policy of the distributor. We present a model of analysis for the producer-retailer relations in the marketing channel of the cultural product. Our model is based on a review of the literature on the theories of the marketing channel and an explanatory survey. Our model endeavours to analyse the influence of the assortment policy of the retailer on the adoption of different forms of governance of the relations in this channel. This model is tested on 7 cases. The results confirm the influence of the different choices in assortment by the retailer on the adoption of different forms of governance: the latter go from the discrete transaction to the long-term and bilateral relation, depending on the degree of standardisation of the product, the level of confidence that exists between the two parties, the degree of competitive intensity downstream and the environment, both institutional and regulatory

Full textIn Australia, like most countries, circus has been an element, at times a very important element, in the mosaic that constitutes its popular culture. An outgrowth of the circus as recast in a modern form in London in the 18th century, an Australian circus profession has existed almost continuously since 1847. Australia’s circus entrepreneurs took the principal features of English, and later American, circus arts and management and reworked these features to suit their new antipodean context. The athletic, intellectually undemanding nature of its equestrian-based entertainments harmonised with the emerging patterns of modern Australia’s way of life. In time, Australia produced renowned circus artists of its own, even artists capable of reinvigorating the concept of circus in the very countries from which their art had been derived. Since their transience and labours, indeed their very existence, were somehow tangential and inconsequential to mainstream Australian society, Australia’s circus people did not attract tokens of recognition in story and verse as did shearers, drovers, diggers and other identities of the Australian outback. Their contribution to Australia’s social, economic and cultural development has been largely overlooked. Despite its pervasive role in Australia’s cultural life over more than 150 years, examples of academically grounded research into Australian circus are few. The primary aim of this study is to demonstrate the major themes evident in Australia’s circus history, in terms of society, enterprise and culture, between 1847 and 2006. None of these areas, of course, is exclusive of the others, especially the first and last named. These deliberations are framed within the broader influences and events apparent in Australian society and history. Implicit within this demonstration is the notion that circus, whatever its characteristics and merits as an artform, has been, and continues to be, a ‘barometer’ of social, economic and cultural change in Australia.

Investigation of a panorama about the history of art in the city of Uberlândia, under the aegis of the formation and consolidation of its market. To this end, historical research on the first artists of the city that articulated their work in the local market was made in other researches. From the mapping of spaces of art that no longer exist and some that still remain in the circuit, we had the perception of a cultural dynamic in transformation in the commercial art galleries, concomitantly to the development of the plastic arts course of the Federal University of Uberlândia and others Independent groups such as AICA - CAMARU Integrated Arts. The partnerships between artists and dealers were growing since the 1960s and it was remarkable the importance of the couple Lourdes and Celso Queiroz in the process of marketing the art in the city. We emphasize the Elizabeth Nasser Gallery as a key point in the professionalization of the market in Uberlândia in the 1990s mainly for the dissemination of its exhibitions linked to the production and printing of catalogs with critical texts. The treatment of the accumulated data was made from a temporal cut in the 1980s and 1990s, but we did not disregard the previous period of market precursors in the city from the 1950s to the 70s. This work was divided into two chapters, the first entitled "Approximations In the time and space of the artistic field in Uberlândia "we deal with the social aspects of the structuring of the art circuit and we approach the methodology used for field research. In the second chapter entitled "Joints of the legitimating instances of art in the off-axis circuit" we seek to reveal the strategies of legitimating artists in front of the new institutions and formats of the local cultural milieu.

Full textThe circus world went through a major renewal in many countries from late 1960s. In France, this process has been particularly significant and laid the foundation of the artistic circus genre now called "contemporary. It involved the development of new aesthetics, the advent of conceptualization, the creation of a specific vocabulary and the production of a complex "art world", which singles out an artist andtransforms his social status. It turns out that different modes of an artistic revival occurred, influenced by the national contexts, as it will be demonstrated in the analysis of the French and Brazilian cases. Therefore, practices, concepts and different production models confront each other through the international movement of circus shows and actors. This circulation is a central aspect of the thesis, which focuses on the diffusion of the "contemporay" circus through a case study of two festivals: the Festival Mundial de Circo (Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais) and the Festival du Cirque Actuel (Auch, Midi-Pyrénées). The ethnographic survey was completed by the monitoring of some actors, including artists and programmers. It allowed an observation of the interactive networks, the exchanges and the cooperative projects between France and Brazil, as well as some asymmetries and areas of influence. Based on a pragmatic approach, this thesis shows how the actors perceive and describe their practices, their lives and their experiences, in the current industry of circus arts

Full textThis dissertation analyses the organization of the professional advertising activity in Brazil between 1951 and 1965. Our goal is to demonstrate that, through the discussion and disputes about the printed advertising image, we can understand how the Brazilian advertising field was formed. These discussions involved the use of a technical language, the institutionalization of the practice and the production of a memory. This process did not just create the advertising class (and their identity), as well as, it monopolized the commercials production, from the specialization of the advertising image production. We will see that the advertising image, more than a two-dimensional object, it is an artifact that circulates by lots spaces and relates of different forms in each way where it circulates. Comprehending the commercial materiality, let us transcend the image traditional approach (from its content), to think about the social relationships that happened from its production, circulation and consumption. This approach was possible thanks to the documental corpus, the specialized magazine Propaganda, that provided subsidies to the reflection development about the advertising practices and the image places, not only in the representations, but in some experiences in that time.

Full textThis dissertation aims to investigate the São Paulo photographic circuit of the 1970s from the articles published in the newspaper O Estado de S. Paulo. This source proved to be particularly conducive to study of the intense transformation process through which the photograph passed in the period. The objective is not to reconstitute past events described in the stories, but rather to defend the hypothesis that it is possible to identify a photographic culture typical of the 1970s that would have important developments in the following years. The texts analyzed were grouped in four thematic nuclei, representative of the speeches about photography by the agents who worked in the newspaper, namely: the history of photography in Brazil, the identity of Brazilian photography, the establishment of the photographic market and the constitution of a specialized criticism. Such texts are examined in their discursive nature, taking into account not only their informative contents but the way they were written and the authority held by their authors. For this, the consensuses, tensions and disputes materialized in the speeches on the pages of an influential vehicle of the great press and the way in which they were received by the non-specialized public are taken into account. The result of this research contributes to the understanding of a period in which photography has expanded in a way previously unpublished in Brazil and that constitutes a recent past still little investigated.

The Labor Unions compose the Social Catholicism and settle as a political strategy of Catholicism, supported in the Rerum Novarum encyclical, issued by Pope Leo XII in 1891, which directs the Church intervention in the working world. Opposite to the ideological antagonisms between liberalism and socialism, emerging in the modern industrial society, the Catholic Church claims itself as an alternative form of power, holding a theological and political project. In Brazil, the covenant between the Church and the Vargas Government made possible for Catholicism to recover its religious influence beside public power, which had been lost with the imposition of the republican secular country. In this conjecture, the modernization of the society, marked by industrialization, the conflicts between capital and labor become evident and the first labor unions were created. In this historical context, the Labor Unions spread as Catholic institutions serving the re-Christianization of the society by the Roman Church. Defending this theological project, the unionism engages its cultural and educational actions along the workers, guided by Church\\\\\\\'s dictated documents, aiming the formation of Christian leaderships and the agreement between the classes that tried to settle the Christian Social Order. In the city of Barbalha, this institution acts along the public and canonical power promoting education, music, citizenship and religion, concurring with the national policy conjuncture.

Full textThe focus of this study is on effective communication that can be used between the district and the circuit in order to optimise communication. There are traditional forms of communication that are still used by Departmental officials yet the information conveyed through those forms of communication take too long to reach the final destination and as a result thereof the information comes just days before the deadline or sometimes way after the deadline. This problem leads to a situation where the work is done in a haphazard way just because people want to meet the dead line. New forms of communication such as E-Mail can convey information within a split of a second all over the wodd The findings reveal that some of the Chief Superintendents of Education Management are not familiar with some of the new forms of communication and therefore cannot even confirm whether those forms of communication are useful or not The Department of Education will therefore have to introduce these new forms of communication at district level as well as at circuit level in order to optimise communication between the district and the circuit

Full textTo become an important international tourism destination and not only in Subsaharan, Kenya needs renewed tourism places and products majorly consisting of memorial sites and regional museums spread throughout the country, recently developed for domestic tourists. This new initiative will decongest the major tourist sites and regions (reserve of Masai Mara, parks of Amboseli, lake Nakuru and Swahili coast), saturated due to double visitation (international and domestic tourists) Through a multidisciplinary approach (geography of tourism, cultural geography and geography of development), supported by data collected through semi-direct interviews, focus groups, questionnaires, field observation and analysis of existing literature, our research attempts show how the material and immaterial cultural heritage of the ethno-cultural groups of Western Kenya can be developed for tourism. Our investigation examines the regions of lake Victoria and Bungoma, particularly the sites of Abasuba Rock Art Paintings, Kit Mikayi and Namakanda. The host communities of these sites are developing strategies informed by their ethnic affiliation, that we study from the point of view of stakeholders’ strategy and development of tourism projects

Full textThis study aims to analyze culture communicative mediations that involves interrelationships between brands and interactor public in their communication circuits, as well as mediatization proceedings arising from these relations. Advertising system has adapted to new technicalities of contemporary society, adding to traditional technique of advertising some promotional devices that aim to establish links with their interactor public through stimulus to participation, interaction and collaboration. This situation reflects focus changes from unilateral communication processes based on message sending to interactional processes established by support of technicalities that enable content production and its distribution in information networks that stimulates interaction between brand and public in a communication process based on the perspective of information circulation on communication circuits. Thesis analyzes communication circuits between brands and public from use of georeferencing technicality provided mobile apps as a methodological cut to demonstration of interactions between physical and digital consumer-brands communication circuits. Brand cultural consumption physical circuits are analyzed by theoretical approach from Magnani´s (1999) urban anthropology perspective and Martin-Barbero´s (2010, 2001) mediation theory view and from mediatization theory by Hjarvard (2013) and Hepp´s (2011) northern perspective and latin american perspective of Braga (2006), Fausto Neto (2010) and Trinidad and Perez (2014). Full textThis study analyses the significance and the contribution of the Círculo de Estudos Bandeirantes in the Catholicism s restoration process in Curitiba between 1929 and 1959. The Circle had a large influence culturally and in the highest level of education and it has been seen as the generator root of PUC - Pr . It was one of the most significant cultural groups of the laic catholic elite concerned with the values revitalization and with the sense of the Catholicism in the modern society. Through a weekly formation program to its partners, the Circle became an important catholic center of debate about various subjects like Philosophy, Literature, Linguistic, Education, Music, Moral, Psychology, Anthropology, History, mainly nationalist and regionalist (from Paraná state) theme. The work widely discusses the restoration concept like an important key to understand the Catholicism in the modern world and to understand the debate around the modernity. Over all, the work discusses the evolution of the significance of the concept since the XIX century, focusing its different characteristics and directions in the European roman Church, not only in Brazil but also in Curitiba. The research bases in the large bibliography, the minutes of weekly meetings, speeches of bandeirantes and the articles published in the CEB magazine and others means of communication. This work doesn t focus the relation between Church and State nor the relation between the laics and hierarchy, but the effort of laic intellectual elite to restore the presence of Catholicism through cultural institutions

This dissertaion reflects about life's trajectory of a specific clown: Roger Avanzi, who gives animus to the clown Picolino II. The main objective is to promove reflections about the insertion of the clowns in the universe of the circus, to make us comprehend the process of formation of a clown formed in a traditional circus family. In this research, we begin of the conjecture that, through the individual memory we can think about rebuild the process of a professional's integral formation. Then, we trace the itinerary of Roger Avanzi, the clown Picolino II, think that it has possibilities, in this case, to discuss about what is a clown's formation when it come from a traditional circus family. To walk on this universe, a huge numer of authors that deeply studyed about the circus ans the clowns, like: Avanzi; Tamaoki (2004), Bolognesi (2003), Castro (2005), Pantano (2007), Ruiz (1987), Silva (1997) e Torres (1998). We bring then, a theoric base that certainly, fortifies and corroborates our thoughts and reflections about the universe of circus and the trajectory of clown's formation, with special atention to Roger Avanzi, fundamentals i studies about it and with memories like Halbwachs's (2004) and Bosi's (1994). The reflections enabled to conclude that a clown doesn't born done; it becomes in the cultural trajectory, in which all the human are inserted

A circuit analysis problem takes a Boolean function f as input (where f is represented either as a logical circuit, or as a truth table) and determines some interesting property of f. Examples of circuit analysis problems include Circuit Satisfiability, Circuit Composition, and the Minimum Size Circuit Problem (MCSP). A circuit lower bound presents an interesting function f and shows that no "easy" family of logical circuits can compute f correctly on all inputs, for some definition of "easy". Lower bounds are infamously hard to prove, but are of significant interest for understanding computation. In this thesis, we derive new connections between circuit analysis problems and circuit lower bounds, to prove new lower bounds for various well-studied circuit classes. We show how faster algorithms for Circuit Satisfiability can imply non-uniform lower bounds for functions in NP and related classes. We prove that MCSP cannot be NP-hard under "local" gadget reductions of the kind that appear in textbooks, and if MCSP proved to be NP-hard in the usual (polynomial-time reduction) sense then we would also prove longstanding lower bounds in other regimes. We also prove that natural versions of the Circuit Composition problem do not have small circuits that are constructible in very small (logarithmic) space.

Mathye, Musa W. "The effect of circuit configuration on regrind circuit performance." Master's thesis, University of Cape Town, 2004. http://hdl.handle.net/11427/6762.
Full textIt was identified that potential improvements in recoveries were to be found in the better use of the regrind stages at a number of Anglo-Platinum concentrators. Historically, these concentrators used to operate in an open circuit configuration, over a relatively short period, the circuits were changed to closed circuit configurations because of the reported benefits of operating in this configuration. The effect of closing the circuit had, however not been quantified in these concentrators. This dissertation looks at quantifying the effects of each configuration with the purpose of drawing meaningful comparisons between them. The circuit configurations studied are open circuit, I-stage and 2-stage closed circuit configurations. The primary difference between these configurations is the network of hydrocyclones. This study pays special attention to the effect of cyclone performance on the regrind circuit performance. Comparisons were made between the open and the 2-stage closed circuits in three concentrators, and surprisingly the closed circuit did not show any improvement over the open circuit configuration from a combination efficiency perspective. The cyclones performance was analysed, and it was observed that the cyclones were operating inefficiently, most likely because the cyclones employed were not appropriate for regrind circuits. A further comparison was made between the I-stage and 2-stage circuit configurations and the I-stage closed circuit configuration proved to be more efficient than the 2-stage closed circuit configuration. Simulations were conducted to predict the performance of the circuit configurations by using more appropriate cyclones which are smaller in size. These cyclones are currently being used in a similar application in another concentrator. The simulations indicated that significant improvements in comminution performance could be realised with the utilisation of more appropriate cyclones, to achieve the closed circuit configuration.

Full textVoltages up to 10,000 volts or higher must be attenuated and measured to provide control feedback for many applications like medium voltage generators or pulsed power systems. How these medium voltage signals can be conditioned so that they can be input to analog control circuits or analog-to-digital converters is the focus of this thesis. A preconditioner circuit takes as input a medium voltage signal and outputs a low voltage conditioned signal to an analog-to-digital converter. Each of the components of the preconditioner circuit, a voltage divider and an averaging circuit designed with an operational amplifier, contributes to the signal conditioning. The theoretical computations, simulations of the circuit, and experimental data were analyzed for congruence. The 3 dB bandwidth of the experiment's frequency response was significantly reduced compared to that of the simulation's frequency response because of parasitic capacitances in the circuit board.
