Abstract:
This work deals with the use of the Clarke transformation for the theoretical derivation of circuit models for the analysis of asymmetrical transients in three-phase circuits. Asymmetrical transients occur when only one or two phases of a three-phase power system are involved in a switch operation. Such a condition is critical from a theoretical viewpoint since the Clarke transformation is based on the assumption of circuit symmetry between the three phases. If the symmetry assumption is not met, the equivalent circuits in the transformed variables α, β, and 0 are not uncoupled. The literature

Transient simulation of a gate circuit is an efficient method of counting signal changes occurring during a transition of the circuit. It is known that this simulation covers the results of classical binary analysis, in the sense that all signal changes appearing in binary analysis are also predicted by the simulation. For feedback-free circuits of 1- and 2-input gates, it had been shown that the converse also holds, if wire delays are taken into account. In this paper we generalize this result. First, we prove that, for any feedback-free circuit N of arbitrary gates, there exists an expanded

The methods of analysis of transients in three-phase circuits with distributed parameters and interphase connections are considered on the basis of representation of such circuits by multipoles, finding their corresponding concentrated parameters and determination of boundary and initial conditions of transients. The transient transformation of track circuit between the normal state and crack state is analyzed. Firstly, the model of crack state of track circuit in the complex frequency domain is established. According to the boundary conditions of crack state of track circuit, the expression of current traveling wave in the receiving end is obtained in complex frequency domain. Based on it, the numerical solution in the time domain is got by FFT&IFFT conjunction with quotient-difference (Q-D) algorithm. With the continuous expansion of power system capacity, parallel high-voltage circuit breakers with a Highly Coupled Split Reactor (HCSR) have a potential application for limitation of high short-circuit current. However, as the parallel circuit breakers open at different time, the residual voltage of the split reactor on the post-open circuit breaker is higher and the stray capacitors of HCSR form high-order oscillating circuits, which may lead to serious transient recovery voltage (TRV). Therefore, it is necessary to analyze and simulate the transient characteristics of 500kV HCSR. Firstly,

The problem of circuit breaking becomes complicated when voltages and currents in the range of kilovolt and kiloampere are involved. Circuit breaker (CB) is used in performing switching operations, and is a switch that can open live circuits. Circuit breakers are especially important in protective schemes where they have to interrupt fault currents, and isolate faulty section of the network. When the circuit breaker opens under fault condition many thousands of amperes pass through the contacts and the extinction of the arc and hence effective opening of the contacts of the CB are major engine

The power electronics circuits can be seen as a subset of periodically switched networks. Their distinctive feature is the variable duration of the switching stages, dependent on implicit, threshold conditions. The paper presents a new computer-oriented approach for transient and steady-state analysis of this class of electronic circuits. The switching elements are extracted in a linear time-variable two-port, which is defined by its nodal equations. A set of modified nodal equations is obtained for describing the overall transient of the circuit. No small-signal approximations are required. T

A Piecewise Linear (PWL) modelling scheme has been proposed for a general four-terminal nonlinear charge device. The charge functions are all nonlinear and are approximated by PWL functions. If analytical expressions for the nonlinear functions are not available, PWL function approximations can be built from a data table in which discrete data points are recorded. In today’s high power VSCs (Voltage Source Converters), IGBTs (Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistors) are the dominant semiconductors. These converters are in general modular multilevel based and contain several building blocks that are series connected. One of the advantages of using modular multilevel based VSCs is the ability to switch each building block at a lower frequency compared to the average total switching frequency of the converter.
