Progress in drilling engineering demands more sophistication from the drilling mud in order to enhance the usage of drilling fluids, hence numerous additives were introduced, and a simple fluid became a complicated mixture of liquid, solid and chemicals. Some of the challenges with the existing drilling fluid additives has to do with compatibility, degradability, safety, cost, and environmental friendliness. Abstract The inhibition of mild steel corrosion in 1.0 M HCl and 0.5 M H2SO4 by Cissus populnea stem extract was investigated using weight loss measurements in the temperature range of 303 – 333 K. Results from the study revealed that Cissus populnea stem extract inhibited the corrosion of mild steel in both acid media. Inhibition efficiency of the stem extract increased with increase in the extract concentration but decreased with immersion time. The kinetics of the reaction aligned with a first order type. Thermodynamics investigations showed that Cissus populnea extract is adsorbed on the s

Benue State is endowed with numerous varieties of useful plants whose fruits, seeds, roots, stems and leaves serve important roles in nutrition but unfortunately many of these plants have not been put to maximum use. The neglect of these forest food plants is attributed to inadequate information on their nutritional potential to serve as food. The broad objective of the study was to examine the nutritional composition of Vitellaria paradoxa fruits, Cissus populnea stem, Afzelia africana seeds, Parkia biglobosa seeds and Prosopis africana seeds. Cissus populnea, a plant native to West Tropical Africa, has garnered attention, particularly for its use in traditional medicine to improve genital erection in males. Accordingly, this study investigated the possible protective effects of aqueous leaf extract of Cissus populnea (ACPE) against lead acetate-induced testicular toxicity in Wistar rats. Twenty adult Wistar rats were divided into four groups and administered various treatments, including 50mg/kg body weight (BW) of lead acetate, 1000 mg/kg BW of ACPE, or a combination of both, for 28 days via an orogastric tube. Thereafter, animals

Abstract:
Abstract The use of viscosity enhancer in Polymer flooding decreases mobility and improves sweep efficiency of flood water. However, there is a likelihood of permeability impairment due to the polymer retention onto the rock surface. This leads to formation damage. Therefore, a good assessment and evaluation of this problem is important to oil recovery sustenance. In this study, the permeability reduction caused by some local polymers in Nigeria used for Enhanced Oil Recovery was investigated. A laboratory study was carried out using unconsolidated core plugs (sands packs) and crude oil from t
