Citrus (Citrus reticulata) is one of the world’s most widely planted and highest-yielding fruit trees. Citrus fruits are rich in a variety of nutrients. The content of citric acid plays a decisive role in the flavor quality of the fruit. There is a high organic acid content in early-maturing and extra-precocious citrus varieties. Reducing the amount of organic acid after fruit ripening is significant to the citrus industry. In this study, we selected a low-acid variety, “DF4”, and a high-acid variety, “WZ”, as research materials. Through WGCNA analysis, two differentially expressed genes, citr

Citric acid is an important organic acid with wide applications and diverse biological functionality. As the predominant organic acid in lemons, citric acid plays a crucial role in determining the flavor of citrus, especially in lemons. Several research studies on ACL only focused on high-sugar- and low-acid-content citrus varieties; however, the ACL mechanism in lemons with high acid and low sugar levels remains undetermined. Arsenic compounds generate diverse effects in all living organisms. In citrus (Citrus L. sp.), they reduce acidity and improve fruit quality by unknown mechanisms. The major organic acid in citrus fruit is citric acid, which begins accumulating early in fruit development, reaches a peak in middle-sized fruit and then, in most species, declines as the fruit matures. In an attempt to understand the basis of the effect of arsenite, it was applied to `Minneola' tangelo (Citrus paradisi Macf. × C. reticulata Blanco) ≈6 weeks postanthesis, and a detailed analysis of total titratable acidity and citr
