The Jarlskog rephasing invariant parameter |J| is evaluated using one of the six unitarity triangles involving well-known CKM matrix elements |Vud|, |Vus|, |Vub/Vcb|, |Vcd|, |Vcs|, and |Vcb|. With PDG2000 values of |Vud| etc. as input, we obtain |J|= (2.71±1.12)×10-5, which in the PDG representation of CKM matrix leads to the range 21° to 159° for the CP violating phase δ. The CKM matrix elements evaluated using this range of δ are in agreement with the PDG CKM matrix. The implications of refinements in the input on |J|, δ and CKM matrix elements have also been studied.

Considering the allowed range of slope ρ2 and curvature C of Isgur–Wise function for B meson, we obtain an allowed range of strong coupling constant αs as well as the QCD scale parameter Λ in a specific prescription. The allowed range of Λ is then used to obtain the theoretical bounds on Vcb in a potential model. The recent available data of Vcb are found to lie within this computed range 0.0375 ≤|Vcb|≤0.0410.

We use lattice QCD to fully determine the CKM matrix. |Vcd|, |Vcs|, |Vub|, |Vcb| and |Vus| are, respectively, directly determined with our lattice results for form factors of semileptonic D → πlν, D → Klν, B → πlν, B → Dlν and K → πlν decays. The accuracy is comparable to that of the Particle Data Group averages. In addition, |Vud|, |Vtb|, |Vts| and |Vtd| are determined by using unitarity of the CKM matrix and the experimental result for sin (2β). In this way, we obtain all 9 CKM matrix elements, where the only theoretical input is lattice QCD.

Fritzsch-like Hermitian quark mass matrices with decoupled u quark as well as nonzero 22-elements, both in ‘U’ and ‘D’ sectors, have been considered to reconcile the data regarding [Formula: see text] and CKM matrix elements. Exploiting the idea of maximality of CP-violation, we find two interesting relations between CKM matrix elements, viz. |Vtd|≅ |Vus||Vcb|, |Vub|≅ ½(ms/ mb)|Vus|. Apart from obtaining 0.05≤|Vub/Vcb|≤0.12 and [Formula: see text], we find CP-violating rephasing invariant parameter |J|≅(3–5)×10−5. The predicted |Vtd| value implies almost maximal mixing in [Formula: see text] system.

We have measured four moments of the electron energy and hadronic mass distributions and determined the inclusive branching fraction, the CKM matrix element |Vcb|, and other heavy quark parameters, using Heavy Quark Expansions in the kinetic mass scheme. In addition, we have studied a large sample of B0 → D*-ℓ+ν decays and extracted the decay form factors and |Vcb|.

We determine the CKM matrix element, |Vcb|, by measuring the differential decay rate of B→D*+ℓν as a function of w=vB · vD*. We extrapolate the decay rate to the kinematic point, w=1, where the form factor, ℱ(w), is accurately predicted by theory. We find ℱ(1)|Vcb|=0.0424±0.0018( stat. )±0.0019( syst. ). Integration of the differential decay rate, dΓ/dw, yields the B→D*+ℓν branching fraction, ℬ(B→D*+ℓν)=(5.66±0.29±0.33)%. The data are derived from 3.3 million [Formula: see text] events collected by the CLEO detector at CESR.

The branching fraction for B -&amp;gt; rho e nu decays and the CKM matrix element |Vub| is measured with semileptonic exclusive B-meson decays using approximately 55 million Upsilon(4S) -&amp;gt; BBbar decays collected during the years 2000 and 2001 with the BABAR detector. The result is Br(B0 -&amp;gt; rho- e+ nu) = (3.39 +- 0.44 +- 0.52 +- 0.60) x 10^-4, and |Vub| = (3.69 +- 0.23 +- 0.27 +0.40-0.59) x 10^-3. The quoted errors are statistical, systematic, and theoretical respectively. These are combined results obtained using five different form-factor models. Individual results are also quoted<br>Das Verzweigungsverhältnis B -&amp;gt; rho e nu und das CKM Matrix Element |Vub| werden mittels semileptonischer exklusiver B Mesonen Zerfälle gemessen. Ein Veto für B nach Dstern e nu wurde angewendet um den Untergrund weiter zu reduzieren. Dieses Veto benutzt Dstern Mesonen die mit einer Partiellen Rekonstruktionstechnik rekonstruiert wurden.<br>This document presents a measurement of the CKM matrix-element Vub in inclusive semileptonic B to Xu e nu events on a dataset of 471 million BB events recorded by the BABAR detector. Inclusive B to Xu e nu decays are selected by reconstructing a high energetic electron (positron). Background suppression is achieved by selecting events with electron (positron) energies near the kinematical allowed endpoint of B to Xu e nu decays. A B to Dstar e nu veto is applied to further suppress background. This veto uses Dstar mesons which have been reconstructed with a partial reconstruction technique.

Abstract:
Diese Arbeit beschreibt die erste direkte Messung des CKM-Matrixelements |V_ts|. Sie basiert auf Daten, die im Jahr 2012 mit dem ATLAS Detektor bei √s = 8 TeV pp-Kollisionen und einer integrierten Luminosität von 20.3 fb⁻¹ aufgezeichnet wurden. Insgesamt sind 112171 mögliche tt̅-Ereignisse im Lepton+Jets-Kanal mit einer Reinheit von 90.0 % rekonstruierbar, die für die Hauptanalyse zur Verfügung stehen. Laut Vorhersage zerfallen hiervon 183 Ereignisse über tt̅→WWbs̅ (inkl. Ladungskonjugation) und können für die Bestimmung des Betragsquadrats |V_ts|² verwendet werden. Für eine Identifikation dieser seltenen Zerfälle werden verschiedenste Observablen untersucht, wie z.B. die Eigenschaften von Jets und Tracks sowie von b-Quark Identifikationsmethoden. Darüber hinaus werden Hadronen von s-Quarks betrachtet, die K0s Teilchen, die über einen kinematischen Fit rekonstruiert werden. Die Observablen mit den besten Eigenschaften werden anschließend in einer multivariaten Analyse ("Boosted decision trees") zu einer einzigen zusammengefasst. Die dazugehörigen Monte-Carlo-Simulationen werden dann als Template für eine Beschreibung der Daten verwendet, was als Ergebnis zu einem Signifikanz-Wert von 0.7σ für t→s+W Zerfälle führt. Insgesamt ergibt sich ein oberes Limit von |V_ts|² < 1.74 %. Dieses wurde bezüglich eines Vertrauensbereiches von 95 % bestimmt, unter Berücksichtigung sämtlicher systematischen und statischen Unsicherheiten. Diese Arbeit, basierend auf einer direkten Messung des CKM-Matrixelements |V_ts|², führt somit zum bisher besten direkten Limit für |V_ts|².<br>This is the first direct measurement of the CKM matrix element |V_ts|, using data collected by the ATLAS detector in 2012 at √s=8 TeV pp-collisions with a total integrated luminosity of 20.3 fb⁻¹. The analysis is based on 112171 reconstructed tt̅ candidate events in the lepton+jets channel, having a purity of 90.0 %. 183 tt̅→WWbs̅ decays are expected (charge conjugation implied), which are available for the extraction of the CKM matrix element |V_ts|². To identify these rare decays, several observables are examined, such as the properties of jets, tracks and of b-quark identification algorithms. Furthermore, the s-quark hadrons K0s are considered, reconstructed by a kinematic fit. The best observables are combined in a multivariate analysis, called "boosted decision trees". The responses from Monte Carlo simulations are used as templates for a fit to data events yielding a significance value of 0.7σ for t→s+W decays. An upper limit of |V_ts|² < 1.74 % at 95 % confidence level is set, including all systematic and statistical uncertainties. So this analysis, using a direct measurement of the CKM matrix element |V_ts|², provides the best direct limit on |V_ts|² up to now.
